Omg I love that Cana is a merchant/pirate/slaveliberator in DG!! I wanna know more about her crew and their adventures. And Her fighting Cerberus was an awesome comparison to her and Bacchus drinking contests in canon! I kinda wanna see Mirajane in a pirate outfit now

When making the plans for the characters in this AU, I heavily based Cana’s character and background on Jessica Campion from the Riverside series and Raven Xingtao from the Raven: The Pirate Princess graphic novels.

Cana being a child out of wedlock between an actress and a noble, who grew up to become a voyager - that was from Jessica. The all-girl diverse pirate crew was from Raven. Both are strong, independent, charismatic women who also happen to be attracted to other women. They’re seriously two of my all-time fave female characters!

SO YES TDG!CANA IS A DREAM COME TRUE AND I KNEW YOU’D ALL LOVE HER AS MUCH AS I DO. WHO COULDN’T?!

And about Pirate Mira? Before I decided to have Mira as Duchess Dreyar, one of my options were to model her after Ximena, from Raven’s crew - their beautiful, feisty navigator, and Raven’s love interest! That plan was scrapped yeah, but I’m still quite fond of it! :)
