from the writer: these are all just general american-based sports cuz i legit had to look up a list but i was compelled to make this anyways. also sorry if i get any of the info wrong lol

notes & warnings: modern!au

Bakugou:

Basketball - wears an arm sleeve, doesn’t like how sweaty everybody is and tries not to touch anyone, feels nice when he does slam dunks

American Football - great at throwing and might even earn himself the position of quarterback, loves tackling but hates getting tackled himself (if anyone does it, it’s on-sight)

Soccer (Football) - has strong thighs so his kicks get the ball really far, plays as a striker and hates getting put on defense, slipped on the field once and it’s taboo to even think about it

Ice Hockey - breaks his mouth guard from biting down too hard so he has to change them frequently, strangely has really good balance and speed for someone with a big build on thin blades, will also tackle the other team but only if provoked

Boxing - is really good at fighting in general but hates that his moves are restricted, his body heat is really high so he likes cold showers, will smirk every time he knocks out his opponent in less than five punches

Fushiguro:

Soccer (Football) - plays defense but really wants to try going on offense, comes up with most of the teams plays and has a strong right kick which almost knocked out the goalkeeper during practice once

Swimming - hates how his hair gets in his face even more when it’s wet, is really good at competitive because his lean body gives him more speed, regardless of whether he’s wearing a cap or not, he’ll rinse his hair in the pool before getting out or else it feels weird to be wet and have dry hair

Baseball - plays pitcher and is trying to learn how to throw a curveball, he gets put in the outfield sometimes but he actually finds it kinda boring, gets annoyed that the baseball cap messes his hair up more so he throws his hood on after games to cover it

Lacrosse - can catch the ball with one hand on the stick, gets too tired easily so he does his own conditioning after practice for endurance, didn’t even know scouts came to lacrosse games until one reached out to him

Volleyball - radiates major pretty setter vibes, does hand signals for which plays and person he’s going to set to, his blocks are the highest on his team but he has to bandage his fingers during games

Itadori:

Soccer (Football) - is really good at dribbling but actually plays goalkeeper most of the time (almost got knocked out once from a ball to the head), he’s like the secret weapon who comes in as a striker when the team is in a tough spot

Basketball - he likes the sleeveless jerseys, sometimes slips on court because of the amount of sweat, gets a lot of three pointers but can’t make slam dunks

Baseball - oddly loves the uniform (it makes him feel close to his team and he gets a hat), a batter who gets a lot of home runs but it’s by luck and just barely with the toe of his shoe touching homebase

Snowboarding - he got really nervous his first time and tried to sit and calm down but ended up sliding down the mountain anyways, he can do a lot of tricks and is always practicing but it results in him also getting sick

Volleyball - an outside hitter who can jump really high, has difficulty serving at first but learns how to do a jumpfloat serve, wears the knee pads that covers his thighs

Sarah sat on the bench after the scrimmage, ponytail slightly mussed and knee socks pushed down her calves. Her navy-blue mini skirt and sleeveless jersey were dirtied from the game, grass stains from the game on her uniform. It had only been a scrimmage today but Sarah didn’t care, all she cared about was the other team. More specifically, the other team’s captain. Sarah looked across the field to where you stood with your team, red uniform looking exceptional on you. There had been other girls that Sarah thought were pretty or attractive but never anyone like you.  

She’d seen you for the first-time last year, during the semi-final game in the season. Sarah had been moving the ball down the field when she looked up and saw you running toward her. She was embarrassed to admit that she had frozen in her spot, fumbling the ball and allowing you to shoulder her to the ground.  

“Hey,”  

Sarah looked up from undoing her shoes to see you standing there. You were even cuter up close.  

“Hey,” she greeted, “good game.”

“Thanks, you looked great out there, by the way.” You replied.

Sarah flushed. She could still remember that unfamiliar giddy feeling that had come over her the last time you had come over, at the end of the game to tell her she did an amazing job. She’d soared on that feeling for weeks. Months maybe. She’d never felt that kind of excitement with any of the guys she dated in the past.

“You too.” Sarah said, thinking to herself how great you really looked out there. It took everything in her to focus on the game and not completely throw it like she had last time. “You looked...amazing.”

“Amazing?” You teased, sitting down next to her.  

“Oh god, I take it back,” she laughed.  

“No, too late, you said I was amazing.”  

“I said you looked amazing...red is a good color on you.”  

You smiled, leaning in and kissing her. It was slow and simple and you were pulling away before Sarah could deepen it. Her cheeks were flushed from the kiss regardless and you grinned, “red looks good on you too.”

“This scrimmage really kicked my ass,” Sarah admitted, “I didn’t think I was so out of shape.”

“Well if it makes you feel better, you don’t look out of shape.” You replied and Sarah blushed.  

“Thank you.” Sarah smiled, sitting up a little straighter and swishing her ponytail.  

“We can go to the gym this weekend if you want?” You offered, stretching your legs out in front of you. “I like your gym better anyway.”

“No way, cause we never actually work out. I try to work out and you just stand around flirting with me. You only wanna do yoga and that’s only to show off.” Sarah remarked.  

“Can you blame me if I want to remind my super gorgeous girlfriend how flexible I am?”  

Sarah rolled her eyes but leaned in, resuming the kiss that you cut short earlier. She let go of her lacrosse stick, placing her hand against your cheek as she deepened the kiss. Sarah could still remember the nervous feeling she’d gotten when she first asked you out. She had dated before but no guy she dated had ever made her feel like you did.  

A year ago she would’ve never kissed another girl in front of her team mates, too afraid of what people would think of perfect kook princess Sarah Cameron if they found out she was bi. But being with you had changed all that. She wanted everyone to know and she was never shy about it.

“Go change,” Sarah instructed when she pulled away, “I’m starving. I deserve like ten ice creams for that scrimmage.”

“Back in a flash.” You promised, kissing her once more before heading to the locker rooms.
