Q: 'Can I save the Microsoft Office installation to an external hard drive and run the application from it? I have a laptop with a solid state drive of 30GB memory. Microsoft Office has installed on the system, taking considerable disk space. I am wondering if it could be uninstalled from the laptop and installed on an external hard drive.'
Assuming that there are two situations in which users would request an Office copy, move or transfer to a portable drive, one is when to choose an external drive for download and install, and the other one is to change the location of an existing installation from a PC to an external drive.
Are both scenarios working in the same way? Not necessarily.
A: 'When you install software it will create registry items within the Windows folders, which are on the main drive, usually the C drive. So, if you want to be able to run Office on different computers via the external hard drive, it may fail due to the lack of essential registry contents, unless using a professional PC transfer software for help.'
'What's more, Microsoft would have to provide a portable version, which we don't think they have.'

So, if you wish to save disk space by installing the large-size Microsoft Office 2003, 2007, 2010, 2013, 2016 and Office 365, to somewhere else other than the local drive, and be able to run an application from an external drive, make it happen in the other way.
Use the normal way to completely download and install the desired Office version on your computer.
Transfer the whole installation from the PC storage to the wanted place via EaseUS Todo PCTrans.
Uninstall the Office from your computer in the control panel > programs > uninstall a program.
In the end, open and run the Office application whenever you need by connecting the external drive to your computer.
Here is how to start the Office transfer from a PC to an external hard drive/USB drive:
First, download and install EaseUS Todo PCTrans. (Click the download button on your PC, where the Microsoft Office is installed. EaseUS transfer software is very light and small. You can quickly install it in a few seconds.)
Then, move your MS Office to the external storage device:
Step 1. Connect the external device and select the transfer mode.
Connect your external storage device (external hard drive, USB, SD card, and more) to your PC.
Launch EaseUS Todo PCTrans and go to 'App Migration' > 'Start'.
Step 2. Select Microsoft Office and set the storage path.
Select the drive where you have installed Microsoft Office on and select Microsoft Office.
Click 'Browse' and choose to transfer the application to your external storage device.
Click 'Transfer' to start transferring Microsoft Office to an external storage medium.
Step 3. Wait for the transfer process to finish.
Wait patiently for the process to complete.
Click 'OK' when it has done.
Additional help for you to manage the Microsoft installation location:
Anyway, don't take the Office transfer too easy to copy the download files to a portable drive. It doesn't work because you cannot move the registry components.

Best vegetable garden plans and ideas
Are you ready to plant your garden, but are feeling a little unsure of how to lay it out?
Well, it seems everyone faces that dilemma each year. The reason is that there are so many different ways to lay out your garden. Then you have to consider what your goal for your vegetable garden is. Do you want it to give some produce but also care about aesthetics? Are you more interested in getting the most produce possible from your garden?
After you decide what your primary goal for your vegetable garden is, then scroll through the vegetable garden plans I’ve gathered from all over the internet and see which options work the best for you. Simple Vegetable Garden Plans
Here are the vegetable garden plans:
1. Raised Garden Bed Gardening Plans
These plans are amazing. The reason is that they take each raised garden bed into account and lay it all out to scale. Then you can see that they incorporate the purpose of each vegetable as well. For instance, you’ll see they are growing multiple beds of tomatoes. However, they label the tomatoes that are meant for sauce, the tomatoes meant for sandwiches (or slicers), and also incorporate the other vegetables they plan to grow in smaller amounts. Which is why this thorough layout would be a great place to start if you are planning on gardening in raised beds this year. Gardening Tool Set for Mom https://www.justhomegardening.com/best-gardening-tool-set-for-mom-delightful-gift-for-mom-gardener
2. Pallet Garden Plan
If you want to grow a smaller garden, then you might want to consider this method. You have one raised garden bed. Then you put a pallet on the backside of the bed to allow vegetables to grow up it for support. This should be a frugal option as well. From there, you’ll need to know how to make the most of your garden bed. This layout gives you a square for each vegetable grown. As you can see, you can have quite a variety of vegetables growing in one bed. This would be an excellent option for those who live in suburban areas with smaller yards.
3. The Multi-Bed Garden Plan
This garden plan is another exact layout. It incorporates multiple beds. This means that you can grow a ton of food and different varieties, too, because they won’t be in the same bed. Which is great because you can grow everything from vegetables, to flowers, to large sunflowers in one garden. Also, it offers a plan for companion plants as well. You’ll notice that when you see a mixture of vegetables and flowers. People usually do this to keep pests at bay, but be sure to do your research to check for accuracy.
4. 5,000 Square Foot Vegetable Garden Plans
Do you need to grow a lot of food? I understand because I have to produce a ton of food every year to feed my family. However, it can be challenging to plan out where everything should go. Thanks to this layout, it doesn’t have to be complicated this year. In fact, you can see where she has made room for everything from vegetables to fruits to nuts. You name it; you can probably find a way to make it work in this garden. How to Revive An Air Plant https://www.justhomegardening.com/how-to-revive-an-air-plant
5. Garden Planner #3
I am in love with this garden plan because it looks neat and tidy. It also doesn’t waste any space when filling in the garden. However, it doesn’t look overcrowded. It has a nice balance to it and seems like it would be easy to maintain. When you need a garden plan that will hold a lot of food and look good too, then you’ll want to consider this layout.
6. Intensive Garden Plan for Maximum Harvest
This is another garden plan that I love. The reason is that it has the garden layout for spring, summer, and fall. Also, I like how it can fit a lot of variety into one medium sized garden space.
However, the drawback is that the image has a key that you must translate. That isn’t all that difficult, but it isn’t as simple as some either.
7. 4×4 Foot Square Foot Gardening
Square foot gardening is a great way to be able to fit a variety of vegetables into one vegetable garden space. Which is why I love this layout.
Also, I love how plain the design is. It is easy to follow and see what is going on. It makes planting a small garden very simple. Plus, it also shows you proper placement of vegetables to keep everything from overlapping or stunting growth.
8. Summer Vegetable Garden Plans
Are you working on a smaller plot and need to know how to arrange everything? This plan is for you then. This design includes everything from vegetables to herbs. It also looks nice, since you have the shorter items in the front. Followed by the taller and cascading items in the back. It would add some charm to your yard.
9. Fall Vegetable Garden Plans
If you are stumped as to how you should arrange your fall garden, then check this plan out. It is easy to read and includes all of your necessary fall vegetables.
But my favorite part about this design is that it includes everything in a lot of detail. You have the trellis where you are supposed to grow peas. Then you have lots of fresh greens and carrots thrown in the mix as well. It is a great design that embraces simplicity.
10. Spring Vegetable Garden Plans
This garden design has a lot of detail included in it as well. You can tell that the creator had the thought of aesthetics and not just production. But if you live in a suburban area, then you know that how your garden looks can often matter to those around you and your HOA. Which is why this layout might be conducive to many. Also, it includes lots of fresh vegetables that are spread out uniquely.
11. Auntie Dogma’s Garden Design
Auntie Dogma knew what she was talking about when she created this garden layout. It is effortless to read, and she explains why she chose to place items in certain places. But if you are also looking for a helpful resource on growing and planning your first garden, then this could be a useful resource. Whether you need background or just a garden design idea, most will find this a valuable resource
12. Companion Planting Layout
I already mentioned a little above that many people plan out their garden using companion planting. This is when you plant certain plants together that will compliment or protect each other just by being in close quarters. Well, this is what this layout is all about. They tell you which vegetables they are growing this year and where they will plant. Then they show which plants compliment each other (or are companions) and build an entire layout from that standpoint.
13. High Yield Veggie Garden
This resource doesn’t give you an actual layout to work from. It does, however, give you tips on how to properly plan your garden layout. With that in mind, I felt it was still worth including in this post because many people want to create their own layout, but need some pointers are where to start.
If that is you, then you’ll want to check out the tips and begin building a layout that works for your location.
14. Hip Chick’s Garden Plan 2013
This layout (the way it is illustrated) looks like the first garden plan I shared. It is different in some ways. First, many more vegetables are included in this garden design. This is great news if you are someone that wants to grow more variety in your garden.
Then I like that the tomatoes are included in multiple beds, instead of lumped together. It all depends upon your gardening goals and preferences.
15. Sobear Garden Plan
This garden plan is a great one. I love the way they created it visually because it makes it easier to follow.
Also, I’m a fan of the fact that they included both flowers, vegetables, and herbs in a unique garden design.
Finally, I love the incorporated walkway all the way around it to make it easier to get to and care for the plants.
16. King George Homes Garden Design
If you are someone that is new to creating or following a garden design, then you might find this option useful.
To start, it is very easy to follow. The graphics are simple. There is no key to understanding it. Also, it is created in a way that is simple to read.
But it also incorporates a variety of vegetables and fruit. I love the fact that it includes hanging baskets for smaller greens as well.
17. The Great Small Garden Layout
This layout is more difficult to read, in my opinion. You can see the names of the vegetables, but it just isn’t as apparent as some of the other plans shared.
However, the layout itself still should work quite well. You should be able to fit a variety of vegetables into a small gardening space. Then you can have a beautiful and productive garden this summer.
18. Small Garden Layout
I’m a fan of this type of garden design. I think it is easier to read for those that are looking to duplicate the idea.
Which means, if you need a design that will be easy to follow, then you’ll want to check this one.
Also, I love the fact that they have marigolds going all the way around it. It adds protection to the plants and an additional element of beauty to the garden. edible mushroom growing kit https://www.justhomegardening.com/8-best-edible-mushroom-growing-kit-plus-growth-tips-for-beginners
19. The Flower/ Vegetable Layout
This garden design is quite cool. If you like to add flowers to your vegetable garden plans, then you’ll love this design.
They plant a variety of vegetables in the center of the garden. This is great because then you can have more options throughout the growing season.
Then they add sunflowers on the ends and marigolds on the sides to add protection for the vegetables and a splash of color too. Well, you now have 19 different vegetable garden plans that could help you to grow a beautiful garden this year.

How to Make Apple Cider Vinegar for Chickens (and You!)
Apple cider vinegar for chickens is a great way to keep your flock healthy. Chicken experts advise adding apple cider vinegar to your chickens’ water. Unfiltered apple cider vinegar, with the “mother” still in it, is expensive. But you can make it yourself! Even better … you can use it for your own family.
Ready to Start Your Own Backyard Flock?
Get tips and tricks for starting your new flock from our chicken experts. Download your FREE guide today! YES! I want this Free Guide »
What you need:
Apples
Store-bought apple cider vinegar…the real kind!
Wide-mouth mason jars and rings
Cheesecloth
A warm location
Sugar to speed up the process, though this is not necessary
First, cut up your apples.
But here’s a hint; you only need the peels or cores. That’s right … Make your apple pie or dried apples, and save the peels and cores for your vinegar. We used our peeler-corer-slicer, and dehydrated the centers.
Place the apple trimmings in a bowl, with enough room on top to completely cover with water. Fill the bowl with water. You can add sugar to the water to speed up fermentation, if you wish. Place a plate on the bowl, to completely push all of the apples down into the water … preferably a plate that fits well over the top and seal out fruit flies.
Place that bowl in a location that stays around 75 degrees or higher for a week. I used one of my laundry room cupboards, with the door closed.
When the water bubbles out around the plate, you’re ready for the next step. This will be alcoholic at this point.
This step led up to an in-depth discussion with my 11-year-old daughter. She didn’t want to make alcohol, but I explained it was an important step in the vinegar-making process that can’t be skipped. We would not drink the alcohol.
Strain the apples out of the fermented water, and throw them away. Do not give them to your chickens, unless you want drunk chickens. (Really, I don’t know if they’ll even eat them. I didn’t try it.)
Fill wide-mouth jars with the fermented water. You want wide-mouth if possible, to increase airflow to the vinegar. Add a drizzle of existing apple cider vinegar, or part of the “mother” from another batch, to inoculate this water. This adds the necessary aceter bacteria. Use real apple cider vinegar; the clear stuff that comes in gallon jugs is usually flavored distilled vinegar and has no “mother.” I use Braggs ACV.
Cover the jars with cheesecloth or other loose-weave cloth. Secure it in place with the canning ring, or a rubber band. Place the jars in a warm, dark location, like the inside of a cupboard, for 2-4 months. Again, we used our laundry room cupboard.
Fruit flies will try to get in this, so be sure that the cloth is on tight, and the cupboard door is shut to avoid an infestation. While the alcohol turns to vinegar, you will notice that a slimy layer rises to the top. This is the “mother,” and it’s completely normal. It’s actually a cellulose layer that separates during the process. Don’t throw that away. It helps seal off the rest of the vinegar from contamination.
Don’t worry much about bacteria during this stage. Alcohol and vinegar have been used for millennia to protect against bacteria.
The longer you wait, the stronger your vinegar will be. When you are ready, remove the mother and either throw it away or put it in the compost, or use part of it to inoculate a new batch. Strain the vinegar from the solids that have sunk to the bottom.
At this point, you can use the vinegar, seal it up, or even add herbs for flavored vinegar. But do not use this for canning other foods! Safe canning requires a specific acidity, and homemade vinegar recipes often do not reach that acidity.
How to Use Apple Cider Vinegar for Chickens, Coops and Eggs
1. Add to chicken waterers to improve respiratory health
2. Cleaning eggs
3. Conditioning rinse for chicken baths
4. Removing mineral buildup on waterers
5. Debugging nesting boxes and coops
6. Foot soak
7. Loosens grime in difficult areas
8. Conditioning spray
9. Cleaning the incubator
10. Easter egg dye
11. Though the article recommends it for pickled eggs, do NOT use homemade vinegar for home canning!
Here’s one more recipe:
Apple Cider Vinegar Syrup
Take some homemade apple cider vinegar and pour it in a saucepan. Turn it on to medium or lower. When it starts to simmer, let it keep simmering until it has cooked down into thick syrup. If desired, add some apple juice to this mixture for sweeter syrup, or some spices.
This syrup is excellent on top of apple-cheese blintzes! A family favorite!

Orlando Sentinel says the long-stalled campaign for equality deserves more Republican support:
There’s been a sea change in public opinion on gay rights in Florida over the past decade. In 2008, 62 percent of voters in the state approved a constitutional amendment restricting marriage to a man and a woman. By 2014, a year before the U.S. Supreme Court declared bans on same-sex marriage unconstitutional, a Quinnipiac University poll showed Floridians favoring marriage equality 56-39.
But when it comes to legislation prohibiting discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity in Florida, Tallahassee is stuck in a time warp. Bills are introduced in the Florida Legislature every year, and every year they get buried in committee. Yet as far back as 2013, a statewide poll by the Bob Graham Center for Public Service found 73 percent of Floridians supported such legislation.
Now some Central Florida Republicans , to their credit, are trying to break the cycle of futility and inequality. As the Sentinel reported, an event in Orlando recently organized by a group called Conservatives on the Right Side of Equality was attended by an array of GOP leaders from Orange County: commissioners, mayoral candidates and legislators, including Winter Park Rep. Mike Miller, who is now running for Congress.
Organizers said each leader committed to support legislation protecting LGBT Floridians from discrimination. Republican backing in Tallahassee is crucial, because the party has strong majorities in both houses of the Legislature, and has controlled the governor’s office since 1999.
John Stemberger, head of the Orlando-based Florida Family Council, told the Sentinel he opposed such legislation, calling it "an unconstitutional weapon to punish free speech and freedom of religion." If that were true, surely courts somewhere would have struck down laws banning LGBT discrimination. But they’re still standing in the 18 states where they’ve been passed.
Florida could join them if legislative leaders would finally allow the bill known as the Competitive Workforce Act to be heard in committee and reach the House and Senate floors for a vote. The bill’s name comes from the view of its bipartisan supporters that Florida will better compete for the best employers and the most talented workers, who are drawn to diverse and creative communities, if it bans discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.
For the same reason, a coalition of more than 450 businesses in the state, calling itself Florida Competes, is also backing the bill. There are 10 Fortune 500 companies in the group, including Disney World and Darden Restaurants — not a surprise, considering that at least three-quarters of Fortune 500 companies have their own policies against LGBT discrimination.
Florida law already bans discrimination based on "race, color, religion, sex, pregnancy, national origin, age, handicap, or marital status." Rather than wait on Tallahassee to add sexual orientation and gender identity to the list, a dozen counties in the state — including Orange, Osceola and Volusia — have passed their own ordinances. So have 30 municipalities — including Orlando and Mount Dora.
Even so, about 40 percent of Floridians do not live in counties or cities that bar LGBT discrimination. They can still legally be turned away for service at a business, evicted from their apartments, or fired from their jobs based on their sexual orientation or gender identity.
Gov. Rick Scott’s office, asked about the mission of Conservatives on the Right Side of Equality, told the Sentinel that state agencies don’t discriminate against their employees based on sexual orientation because it’s against federal law — an evasive, narrow answer that is also open to dispute. U.S. Justice Department lawyers argued in court last year that federal law doesn’t protect against LGBT discrimination.
Supporting the Competitive Workforce Act shouldn’t be a stretch for Republicans. The legislation promotes fairness, opportunity and economic growth — all values that resonate with conservatives. More of them need to take a stand for equality in Florida.

Palm Beach Post says Publix has polarized with political contributions to gubernatorial candidate Adam Putnam:
Publix, the supermarket giant that ranks high among things that residents love most about Florida, is learning the perils of political participation in our polarizing age.
Recently, it was reported that the beloved grocery chain has given more money to Adam Putnam’s gubernatorial campaign than to any candidate since 1995, and probably in its entire history.
Publix, the heirs to the company’s founder and its current and former leaders have given the Republican $670,000 in the past three years. Or, as the Tampa Bay Times put it, "enough money to buy 74,527 chicken tender subs."
"No other Florida candidate has ever come close to that kind of subsidy from Florida’s largest Fortune 500 company," the Times said. "Its most recent contribution, a $100,000 donation on April 30, was the largest, too, according to the latest campaign finance filings."
Publix immediately ran into a deli-slicer of criticism. That’s largely because Putnam, a 43-year-old former congressman who is now the state’s agriculture commissioner, famously responded to criticism of his fondness for the National Rifle Association by calling himself "a proud NRA sellout" — a not-so-funny wisecrack given the mass shootings at Pulse nightclub in Orlando and Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland.
The backlash against Publix was fierce. It included tweets like this, from state Rep. Carlos G. Smith, D-Winter Park: "How many flowers did I buy from your stores for funerals, graves, + memorials for Pulse + MSD victims? #BoycottPublix"
Publix, shifting quickly to damage-control mode, tweeted that it "has not provided financial support to the National Rifle Association." And it swiftly released a statement meant to distance itself from all controversy: "We support bipartisan, business-friendly candidates, regardless of party affiliation and we remain neutral on issues outside of our core business."
The trouble with this explanation is that, while certainly business-friendly, Putnam has not shown himself to be "bipartisan." He’s not a candidate for centrists. He makes overt appeals to social and religious conservatives and the Trumpian anti-immigrant right.
While in Congress, Putnam voted to roll back requirements for the Voting Rights Act. He pressed for stricter voter IDs beyond driver licenses in a thinly disguised effort to suppress minority votes.
As a candidate for governor, he is pushing a "Florida Families First" agenda that includes promises to "fight for the life of the unborn and make Florida first in protecting life," create an "Office of Faith-Based and Community-Based Initiatives within the Executive Office of the Governor" and establish a "Home School and School Choice Ombudsman."
Putnam’s NRA rating is A+. He has endorsed the open carrying of firearms, and the carrying of guns on college campuses. He criticized Florida’s recently passed law that raised the firearm-purchase age to 21 from 18 and requires mandatory three-day waiting period for firearm purchases.
Sorry, Publix, these are not bipartisan positions.
Publix and Putnam go way back. Putnam was just 22, running for state representative, when Publix made its first donation, for $500, to the local up-and-comer: Publix’s base in Lakeland is 20 minutes from Putnam’s hometown of Bartow.
The generosity seems to go both ways. As agriculture commissioner, Putnam oversees regulation of Publix’s 800 Florida stores. When a TV station reported in 2016 that seven Tampa-area Publix stores failed health inspections, "Putnam responded the next day by pulling the inspections from the department’s website and eliminating the pass/fail grading system," the Tampa Bay Times wrote. "He replaced it six months later with a new rubric. Instead of a failing grade, the worst rating issued now is ‘re-inspection required.’ "
Publix can support whomever it wants. That’s its right as a corporate citizen. With 2010’s Citizens United, after all, the U.S. Supreme Court has given the green light to corporations and unions to spend whatever they like in independent political expenditures.
But in a nation as divided as ours, Publix can’t expect to bankroll a candidate without alienating some portion of its public. Call it a sign of the times, but our system is producing few, if any, "bipartisan" politicians. And now, not even a trip to the grocery store "Where Shopping Is a Pleasure" is immune from the tensions pulling the country apart.

The Florida Times-Union says education needs to be a bigger part of the South’s playbook:
We love football here in the South.
Re
And that’s only fitting, because the "State of the South" dossier by MDC, a North Carolina-based nonprofit, is like reading an extensive scouting report on a football team.
The areas of strength are noted:
? The South is more racially and ethnically diverse than ever before in history, and has "shifted from a biracial to a multi-ethnic region."
? The South has been able to reinvent itself as a region with "hubs of excellence and innovation in medicine, health and science, providing the benefits of modern medicine."
? The South "has more affluence, a more diverse economy with a potent corporate sector, a stronger middle class (blacks and Latinos as well as whites) … than it did 50 years ago."
? Major Southern cities Charleston, Biloxi and New Orleans have all "largely recovered" from massive weather-related devastation during the last 15 years; meanwhile, Houston has made strides rebuilding after Hurricane Harvey last fall.
But just as a football scouting report also focuses on a team’s weaknesses, "State of the South" identifies the region’s vulnerabilities, too.
And this one clearly stands out in the MDC report: "Most Southern states still lag the national average in K-12 achievement …"
. Which has been caused by this trend across the South: "(A) decade of budget austerity has left most states with a lower level of investment in public schools … than before the Great Recession."
. Which has led to this rather humbling fact about the South: "In every state in the South, born-elsewhere residents exceed born-in-state residents in the percentage who hold a bachelor’s degree or higher."
. Which presents this huge challenge now facing the South: "To elevate their economies and spread prosperity, Southern states have to rely on — and educate more of — their own at-home citizens to meet the talent deficits that immigration is not erasing."
. Which, if ignored, may have this stark consequence for the South: "(The) pattern of increasing divestment in public institutions could affect long-term upward economic mobility prospects in the region."
Make education a big part of the playbook
No, this is no trivial area of vulnerability. But it’s clear how we in the South should be addressing it:
? First, Southern states — including Florida — must make investing in education an equally high priority for all students, instead of pitting public schools against charters, urban districts vs. rural ones, etc., in some Hunger Games-style "survival of the fittest" battle for funding and resources.
As the "State of the South" report suggests, our region will need the talents of all of our residents to achieve sustainable prosperity.
That means all Southern states have to provide levels of funding that will enable all Southern students to flourish.
? Second, we in the South have to stop rewarding the buffoonish anti-intellectualism embraced by many of our lawmakers and power brokers to justify starving educational systems of needed money.
They justify it by throwing around pandering words and phrases like "elitist," ”snowflakes," ”failing urban schools," ”so-called experts" and "powerful teachers’ unions."
And they get away with it because we let them.
Clearly, that’s a big reason why there isn’t a single state in the South where native residents have as many bachelor’s degrees as fellow residents who were born elsewhere.
This must change.
In a nod to our region’s love for football, let’s put it this way:
If we want tomorrow’s South to keep moving the chains and putting up the points, we need to demand that our leaders make education a bigger part of the playbook.
Just as Southerners will not accept losing football teams, we must not accept underperforming educational systems.
