Welcome to our eighth Silver Lake Task! For this task, we are focused all on the body. We want to know all about your character’s: tattoos, piercings, birth marks, scar stories, broken bones, body modifications, and more! 

You are free to talk about these in a series of headcanons, bullet points, a drabble or self para, edit a photoset, gif set, any way you wish to express yourself regarding this topic and your character.

Stevie has her master bedroom, she converted one of the rooms into her own in-home dance studio, the other is a guest bedroom. 

The downstairs ‘basement’ she has turned into her personal nirvana; ping-pong and pool table, full equipped mini bar, her favorite bottles of wine on the wall, and the theatre room she has converted into her game-room for video games.  

Stevie’s father, a well-known music producers from the 90s, bought her this home after she left New York in 2015.

free-spirited heiress to her family’s hotel fortune. never really wanted to be a part of that, glam los angeles life style her parents lived, so she took off to arizona and joined a hippy commune (cult?) where she met and fell in love with rhett. sandi fell pregnant quickly at 18 and moved back to los angeles to raise her daughter. sold the family’s chain of hotels and got out of the business soon after her parents retired, and settled into a career being disney’s resident plant lady.

SL TASK 005: character bingo

Axel woke to the sound of his radio playing kate bush. With a groan, he got up and wandered through to the bathroom in nothing but a tight pair of neon pink boxers. He stood under the shower till he felt his soul return and then grabbed his towel and his silk robe and headed into the dressing room. Perched on his chair, he demanded Alexa play his Spotify playlist as he got dressed. Twenty minutes later, Axel stood locking his front door with a wave to his neighbor @thelottierhodes  and internally cringed when he remembered he had flirted shamelessly with her brother @madmaxrhodes​. As the sunlight hit him, Axel slipped on his ray bans, trying desperately to forget how good Max looked in his uniform, and headed to work. Stopping only to grab a donut( his life force) and a coffee...a caramel latte to be exact. 

At work, he greeted @emmadonovan​  with a coffee and a kiss to the cheek. She was practically family to him, so every morning without fail, he would get her a coffee on his way in. The rest of the morning he spent piercing people and making sure his area of the tattoo place was clean and tidy. At lunch he ducked out to meet @matthew-adams for a lunch chat, then slowly sauntered back to his cubby hole at King ink. 

At 6pm, Axel waved goodbye to Emma, walked outside and lit a cigarette. He text @honeysuckleheart​ to see if he wanted to go for dinner but  but only a quick bite, as Axel had work in the evening. After his dinner of something vegan to please Sulley, Axel went back into his dressing room and changed from his AC/DC T-shirt and white jeans and high kicks, to his lace shirt and wet look tight trousers and heels that were high. He slicked his hair back and headed to Dungeon for his second job of the day. He danced and cavorted all night until closing, where he had a drink with the rest of the team before receiving a text from @sawyereugene​.

Axel grabbed a cab to her place and followed her up to the bedroom where he stayed with her till sunrise when she had to go to work. He headed back to Oasis apartments, grateful that his first appointment wasn't until 2pm. On his way home, he dropped into see Emma with a coffee before heading to his place for a shower and a few hours sleep before work.

A year in a life

Winter

The winter months of 2020 were particularly difficult for Korra. January was never her favorite month, with her father’s birthday coming up Korra knew she’ll again be reminded of him, and as before ignored the reminders as they came from her parents. In early February she found out her boyfriend cheated on her. It hurt the girl but she was so used to living with this person, having him around that she chose to work through things. The two stayed together and started what she described as a healing process.

Spring

Camilo - El mismo aire

Even thought Korra chose to work through things, being a psychology major as she decided that talking through the feelings and making sense of things. But what that actually meant was just pain for her and obvious indifference for him. Korra’s boyfriend did seem like he was sorry, but more so it seemed like he just wanted to move passed this awkwardness. Korra started spending less and less time at home. Being more with her friends ignited some jealousy episodes from him but that’s not why she did it and this just gave her one more red flag that this is a failing relationship.

Summer

The first month of summer was like a breath of fresh air for Korra. She went to see her family as she missed her sister’s birthday in spring and wanted to catch up for missed time. While there she also re-connected with some of her high school friends and spent some fabulous nights in Jacksonville clubs. They even went to Miami for an overnight stay of fun and shenanigans. Even before she came back to Atlanta she knew she’s not going back to her old apartment, while living at her parents she organized herself an interview for a room in a commune. Once she was back she went there with all her bags and left them while she came to her apartment to collect her stuff. She left her now-ex-boyfriend a text and only spoke to him briefly at parties of mutual friends ever since. It was hard at first as her uni friends started to choose sides but she didn’t let it bother her and went felt like she finally found her old self by the end of the summer. Back in charge of her life, bubbly, flirty and having as much fun as she wanted.

Autumn

FEM’d - Me llamo yo

Korra was living in the commune and despite loving to always have who to talk to or go out with she did find that living with over ten people was getting on her nerves. In September the law firm she was working had announce of opening an office in LA. Korra felt back in control of her life and ready for a new challenge, at least that’s what she told herself so she put in an application for transfer. But then after fair bit of partying and going on random dates she met Tash, who was just her kind of person. The two got a long so well and had effortless chemistry. Korra’s housemates looked at the pair skeptically saying that Tash is just Korra’s rebound after the long relationship. The pair proved to be strong and carried on dating for the two months Korra stayed in Atlanta, but later said it’s better for them to separate as friends. Korra was more than ready to start a new chapter and move to the city of stars. She came in late November and was keeping busy organizing the unfurnished apartment she rented. 

Winter (again)

Alaska - A quien le importa

In the month Korra had been in SL she tried her best to meet as many people as she could to surround herself with new interesting personalities and eventually have friends to turn to. The highlight of December was a group call with her family over her birthday which she followed up with an impromptu night out by herself. Korra had also realized living in Cali doesn’t come cheap and started working a second job as a bar-staff at Los Globos, she absolutely loves the vibe there and thinks she’d spend her time there anyway so is glad she’s at least getting paid for it. She is still making her round in figuring out who are her friends and foes but she feels in charge of herself and happy about where she is in life.

APARTMENT 2CE ➟ TASK 1: HOME

Apartment 208 or as the broken numbers on the door read: 2CE is the current home of one Miss Fallon Ford and the former home of her roommate, Alison with one L who went back home to New Jersey March 2020. Even before the departure of Alison the home had an eccentric feel to it. Fallon would find things off the street and give them new life in her apartment. The motto of the home being: if it doesn't feel like it has a purpose, give it one. Since her departure however, Fallon has taken the bigger bedroom and converted her old room with chalkboard paint and a pull out couch, making it her games and office room. The only room Fallon isn’t absolutely thrilled by is the stark white master bath which she has enlisted Bowie to help paint.  ( From right to left: main living room, half bath of the stars, kitchen.  kitchen view two, office room, office room view two.  main bedroom, main bedroom vanity, master bath. )

Who pays the rent, and how much is it? It used to be split 50/50 eight-hundred each, between Fallon and Alison, but since March Fallon has been paying the $1600 dollar rent alone with little trouble. When she does get strapped for cash she offers out her mechanic and repair abilities to people in her building for cash.  

How long has your character lived here? Just over three years. 

How does your character feel about their home? While she dreams of one day having a legit house to live in, she likes her apartment enough that it isn’t torture to live there. A big part of that is just how much she’s made the space her own. And how she’s learned to deal with leaks and the like over the years. 

Do they have hired help? If not, who does the chores and cleans around the house? Oh hell no. Fallon has a method that Alison used to lovingly call the future me plan for chores. Where other than small tasks like dishes? She put it off until she knew she was feeling manic and then stayed up 24 hours and got it done. It’s not the healthiest cycle, but it does work for now. 

What smells can be found lingering in your character’s home? Musk, sweet almond, and light perfume. 

What temperature is the thermostat set at in their home? Depends on what time of year it is but she lives to hover around the sixties. 

Does your character have a favorite neighbor? Who is it? She likes a vast majority of her neighbors, and if she doesn’t like you then you don’t get cookies on your door at Christmas and you’ll know forever the cruel harshness of a cookieless holiday. 

Did your character grow up in this home, or is it the second, third, or fourth home they’ve lived in? This is probably the fifth, maybe even sixth house she’s lived in. She and her Dad moved places a couple times in Chicago and of course did the cross country move twice. Plus living with him when she first got here. So yeah. Moving is definitely a skill she has. 

Do they leave the door open or closed when doing their business in the bathroom? Closed you heathens. 

If their home was on fire, what are 3 things your character would grab before running out? Her bag because it has her laptop, phone & wallet, her box of memories (which holds cards, photos, usbs with stuff on them sentimental stuff), and probably her switch because if she’s gonna be homeless she can at least play stardew.

Task 07: your 2020 rewind

Welcome to our seventh Silver Lake Task! It’s been a hot minute since we’ve had one of these, so now that we’ve entered a new year and a lot of people have been going back through the tag to complete old tasks (which you’re, of course, all welcome to do!), we thought this would be a great time to drop one.

This task is going to be a look back the year we’ve just managed to escape. For a lot of us it was not the best time, but how was it for the residents of Silver Lake? You may complete the task in any way you like—a photo set, self-para, headcanons, playlist, fashion diary, whatever makes sense to you! 

It can revolve around the things you’ve played out on the dash, or it can be a great way to invent some new headcanons, maybe especially for anyone who only joined us more recently.

TASK 01: HOME

1838 Silverwood Tce — Minkova Mansion

Part 1

1838 was a development of Prestizh Development and Design ( Mila’s own company) after the lot and old house was purchased in early 2018. The original home was demolished and the development on the new one started in early 2019. 

This brand new contemporary estate inspired by Hollywood glamour consists of eight bedrooms and 10 full bathrooms. Interpretations of classical architecture & design, adorned with open spaces, surrounding views, luxurious designer amenities & finishes. Automated walls of glass exemplify the best of indoor/outdoor living. Entry to double foyer, living room, bar/lounge, dining room with wine room, family room, kitchen with La Cornue range, butlers kitchen & ensuite study.

Central courtyard with fire lounge, infinity zero-edge pool, 2 bajas/spa. Outdoor kitchen with bbq/bar & dining. 3 upper level ensuite bedrms with outdoor terrace, lavish master retreat with 2 baths, heated floors & walk-in designer closet. Elevator to lower entertainment level with theater, game room, sports bar, gym with ensuite steam bath. 2 ensuite bedrooms, laundry, 5 car underground garage (stacking, fitting 10 cars) & cobblestone motor court.  The home is protected by state of the art security system including cameras, security office that doubles as a ‘panic room’.

Part 2

Who pays the rent, and how much is it? Mila purchased the original house and land for around $7.5 mil in 2018 and leased the property out  for six months until she started demo in February 2019, 15 months later, the mansion was done. the appraisal came in at  $14,595,000, which left Mila pretty damn pleased.

How long has your character lived here?  Mila originally didn’t plan to move into the area, but was desperate to get out of trousdale, so decided to move into 1838 in July 2020.

How does your character feel about their home? It feels a little big now with Timo living elsewhere, but Mila isn’t a fan of moving her children too much and Freya is pretty damn happy there. 

Do they have hired help? If not, who does the chores and cleans around the house? They have a maid who works three days a week, and Freya has a Nanny that helps after school and some late nights. Mila tries to run with the dogs each morning, but she has a dog walker that she texts when she can’t get to it. Freya has her chores though, she looks after and feeds the dogs, makes sure they have clean water etc, and brushes them. she washes Kranksky because he’s tiny, but — the others are too big. She also cleans up after meals ( loading the dish washer etc), and makes sure her room is kept neat and tidy. 

What smells can be found lingering in your character’s home? generally Gardenia or Jasmine.

What temperature is the thermostat set at in their home? 75.2 degrees 

Does your character have a favorite neighbor? Who is it? Mila loves @theaspenbarris and can’t honestly complain about having her brother  @alexxpavlov so close. @leighxcalloway is also a dream neighbour. 

Did your character grow up in this home, or is it the second, third, or fourth home they’ve lived in? Mila honestly cannot count how many homes she’s had. this is probably her seventh as an adult at least.

Do they leave the door open or closed when doing their business in the bathroom? Closed but she has a child who doesn’t care and when she wants her, she will just burst in and start talking to her... which mila finds... very annoying. 

If their home was on fire, what are 3 things your character would grab before running out? Obviously she’d get her daughter and pets out first, but otherwise, she’d get her fathers ring, her grandmother’s jewellery box and her album of  @timoteixmacgregor baby photos since she hasn’t actually had them scanned yet.

Dante shares the house with @emmaridley​ who she is long-time friends with from uni days.

This is not Dante’s house so the only things she decorated were her bedroom and bathroom. The female prefers a minimalistic style so her room is mostly white-toned with a lot of natural light and elements to create space. The center piece of the room is a Ngoc Bay’s painting ‘Love in Love’ which Dante spent an absolute fortune on and is very happy with. Her space has pretty much all she needs - there is a desk for when she is working from home, she also has a bookcase with all her favorite Remarque books and a full length mirror which is incredibly useful for her little check-up of how she looks before going to work. The bathroom is adjacent to the bedroom and also follows similar style of minimalism and light. Dante especially loves the bath that is overlooking the window for the relaxing bubble experience.

Part 2

Who pays the rent, and how much is it? Dante pays to her friend for allowing her to stay.

How long has your character lived here? Dante’s lived here for over a year now, and is not planning to move out soon, hence why she decorated the room herself.

How does your character feel about their home? Dante feels happy and relaxed at home, it is one of the few places she can be her goofy self in

Do they have hired help? If not, who does the chores and cleans around the house? Dante does her own housework, only thing she doesn’t trust herself doing is the garden.

What smells can be found lingering in your character’s home? Pasta and wine.

What temperature is the thermostat set at in their home? About 70°F.

Does your character have a favorite neighbor? Who is it? @westfelix she knows him the best and wouldn’t hesitate going over if she felt like it.

Did your character grow up in this home, or is it the second, third, or fourth home they’ve lived in? This is about 5th house Dante’s ever lived in and she sure doesn’t think this will be her last.

Do they leave the door open or closed when doing their business in the bathroom? Dante values her privacy and always closes and locks the doors.

If their home was on fire, what are 3 things your character would grab before running out? This would never happen as Dante is too careful for that. But if she had to be quick it would be  her purse, ‘The night in Lisbon’ by Remarque (with her favorite photbooth photo in it) and a pendant with family crest engraved.
