All right, I hope no one hates me for what I'm about to express because I feel like this is a very unpopular opinion. It is an opinion regarding filler episodes in general. Now, while my opinion is mainly centered around Naruto, cause that's the main anime I've watched and the most infamous for its filler episodes. It can apply to any long-running anime with an abundance of non-canon material.
My opinion is that I not only do not hate fillers and have an appreciation for them, but I also don't understand the extended and agreed upon sentiment of utterly and completely disregarding all kinds of content presented in filler episodes (and some novels). Yeah, there's the justification that fillers aren't canon cause they're not made by the author. They're just extra content created by the studios to gain enough time for the source material to produce new stories. But that's precisely where the issue lies: the refusal to accept any other opinion outside of the mangaka's own.
Fillers are, most of the time, the only ways some beloved side characters can get any relevance and get new content and information about their personalities and what they're normally like outside of their relationships with the main characters. They're also the only ways we can see some characters interact with each other that might have never interacted otherwise in canon material. I'm also aware of the general distaste some main character stans have for side characters, viewing them as 'unnecessary' and mere stepping stools for the protagonists to achieve their goals. I can respect that opinion, but in truth, if we're being objective, side and supporting characters represent the majority of any work's cast. Main characters are a minority, while side characters populate the greater majority of the worlds in any story. While it's true, some side characters are also more relevant and important than others. What I'm trying to convey here is that most of the time, when anyone consumes a story, there's a very high chance most of their favorites will be side characters. Sure, people who only like the protagonists also exist, and their opinions are worthy of respect too, but I believe that for most viewers and readers, side characters with not much screentime or relevance represent some of their faves. That's why fillers and sometimes even side novels are so important.
That was my first point. My 2nd point is...... that there's actual human beings working at the animation studios, making these shows. When filler episodes centered around side characters are created, then that's the work and efforts of said animators put onscreen, regardless of how good said episodes end up being. I choose to believe, and I think this to be true, that when they're tasked with the job of creating extra, filler content about random characters, then those are the opinions and hcs of the animators about said characters that we see reflected onscreen. They're the ones in charge of producing the show and bringing these characters to life, so it's inevitable that they'll also end up forming their own opinions of the characters along the way. I feel like these are opinions they get to show through filler episodes and the roles, dialogues, and actions assigned to each character. I mean, there's a reason there's also talks in fandoms, not only about the authors' favorites, but about the animation studios' favorites as well. When certain characters are given major roles and spotlight in filler episodes, then that's simply because the animators love them.
Why, then, should the opinions of the animators be brushed aside under the pretense of 'it's just filler and not the author's words'? When they're the ones making any of this possible, and I've heard some animation studios can also be ruthless with harsh working schedules. I think their opinions should also be taken into account and respected whenever they decide to say, or rather show, something positive about an unpopular side character. I mean no offense by this cause to each their own, but if you were to ask me: I think the opinions expressed by the animators about some side characters through filler episodes should be taken into account, more than the words of any random Joe in the fandom, hating on said side characters. What I mean is: if fillers point to a certain supporting, minor character portraying them as cool, strong and badass, but then haters in the fandom turn around to say that 'no, actually, X side character sucks cause they're useless to the plot at large.' I'm 100% of the time gonna go with the interpretations of filler episodes cause these are the interpretations and feelings of the animation studios being shown to us.
The same applies to side novels, actually. There's no way all these authors writing novels about Naruto/Boruto characters did so, without Kishimoto's permission. Yeah, Kishimoto himself might've not played a direct role in their writing, but I'm sure he must've still read all of them before they were published. So, if Kishimoto has read these novels and approved of them, then I also don't see why the author's words about the characters in these stories should be disregarded. Now, yeah. I understand some novels are worse than others (like, much worse. Looking at you, Sasuke Retsuden). But I guess that's why they're directed towards different audiences. Besides, it's also clear from just reading them that some novels are more tied to canon and respect it way more than others. Sasuke Retsuden is clearly not one of them. Which is also why there should be no problems with fans recurring to data from these novels to support their favorite side character's feats. Especially when they're taken from the novels that actually respect the canon stories' events.
This has been a long rant, but just in short, to summarize my unpopular opinion: I think fillers and most side novels should also be taken into account when making discourse about certain characters, and information provided in them should be more accepted, instead of simply being brushed under the rug as not canon. The opinions of the people who worked on them shouldn't be dismissed so coldly, imo.

Anyway returning to Lore Stuff but: feels really likely The Crush was due to Ludinus's attempt to contact Ruidus in the late 500s, which is what led to the fall of Molaesmyr. I wonder if he even realized until centuries later, since I don't think he was able to communicate with Ruidus until he started working with Ruidusborn which feels comparatively recent. Imagine unwittingly setting into motion a natural disaster that permitted the final stages of complete imperial takeover on an entirely different celestial body and then finding out 200-odd years later that this is extremely beneficial to your lifelong dreams.

Hello and welcome to Day 11 of "Let's Explore My Plot Bunnies"
Tumblr media
Today I wanna talk about a plot bunny that has been on and off inside my brain and that, currently, has been going nuts ever since I explained the MDZS Magic Kaito AU.
The fandom for this plot bunny is not one I have spoken about on my blog yet - Katekyo Hitman Reborn.
More precisely, I have this as a Kakeyo Hitman Reborn (Detective Conan AU).
Working title: (A Mafia Boss?) No, I am a detective.
The idea starts with a change brought by the sealing of Tsunayoshi's Sky Flames.
Basically, instead of stunting his growth and clouding his mind (and you can't tell me those symptoms weren't at least halfway caused by the seal), Tsuna's seal acts a bit... weird. Weird as in, Tsuna ends up with "Kudo Shinichi Levels of Luck in Finding Dead Bodies."
Because of this, not only is Tsuna constantly encountering criminals (big or small), but also he is pretty much adopted by the police department of Japan. Yes, all of it. (Don't ask him how he ended up with more uncles and aunts than there are kids in his class.)
Tsuna, since he is pretty much followed by death everywhere besides his home and Namimori School (where Tsuna doubts even Gods would try to start shit because Hibari Kyoya is scary as fuck), ends up gaining an interest towards the law and towards the work of a detective. Hibari Kyoya, whose family is part of the police force, definitely approves.
In fact, he approves so much that he is giving lessons in self-defence (read: beating up) to Tsuna from a young age. All Kyoya has to say is that the "sky omnivore" is promising.
As the years go on, Tsuna ends up with a rag-tag team of kids that help him (read: get themselves involved) in solving murders/kidnappings. Tsuna even has a phantom thief that he faces every other week against. (I DO want to make that phantom thief be Kaito KID just because he is definitely a Mist Flame with Lightning secondary and Cloud Tendencies.)
The end result is that when Reborn comes to tutor Tsuna for the position of Vongola Heir, Tsuna has already (mostly unknowingly) gathered a separate set of Guardians on his own; is already trained by Hibari Kyoya in hand to hand combat and trained in armed combat by the police and, most importantly, IS part of the police force... and is vehemently against taking the position of Vongola Heir.
(Reborn is really going to kill Iemitsu for his blatant disregard towards his family's daily affairs. The idiot COULD'VE stopped his own child from joining the police force if he cared enough.)
Things to note:
Tsuna can still get his canon Guardians in this, but the way and the order in which he gets them will be different.
Hibari Kyoya is still scary as all hell in every universe, this one included. He is just more Alaudi (or was it Alaude?) coded than before cause handcuffs are more prominent in detective/police work.
Byakuran is probably gonna start laughing like crazy for about half an hour when he learns Tsuna is with the police force. Why? Because the irony of World's Best Mafia Boss (in other universes) being a detective and member of the police force in this universe is killing him.
Let Tsunayoshi have friends. Like seriously. Let him make friends through this profession/curse of his. (Whether the friends he makes OUTSIDE of Japan are part of the Mafia or not is another story)
Iemistu fucked up by not being around his family more. Now, he is definitely paying the price... Reborn wants to take his kneecaps as compensation for the bullshit he has to deal with now.
So, what do you think? Good? Bad? Let me know!
Honestly, I have soo many ways through which the seal could affect Tsuna and make him go a different path in life. But the Mafia still catches up to him. At least in this AU, Mukuro should be more... chill towards Tsuna cause he makes it clear he is part of the police - which isn't that much better in retrospect, but at least Tsuna is not ,nor does he want to become a Mafia Boss. Also, Tsuna probably has memorized all laws of Japan but mathematics still give him a headache (mostly because of his teacher).
Either way, I will end it here for today. I hope you guys have a great day/night and that you take care of yourselves!
See you tomorrow,

I'm kinda curious about the period of time when Minato was Hokage, because there's so much you could say about Konoha depending on it. It could be that I don't remember what the manga says about it too, but anyway.
We know that before Minato was Hokage, the discrimination towards jinchuurikis was high. We know it from Kushina's story. After Minato, the jinchuurikis discrimination was not exactly as bad as it could have been (and the bar is soooo low) in physical terms, but the level of sheer isolation was ridiculous. Sure, Kushina had guards and she lived in a tower with a perimeter drawn around it, one that she couldn't surpass. The difference is that Kushina knew why she was being isolated, there was someone willing to teach her about it right from the start, a family member even if distant, someone with the same experience.
All Naruto knew is that he was unwanted. He had no family, no one was willing to guide him. No, not even Iruka. I'm talking about before in the manga, before Iruka realized how much Naruto needed him and did something about it.
If that was before and after, how was it during the time Minato was Hokage?
Did Minato push for Kushina to become Hokage? Was the idea rejected? Did he get angry? It was her dream after all. Or did they realize it would be impossible so they pushed Minato to go for it? Were they sad about the idea of Kushina having to live her dream through Minato, because they wouldn't let her go for it? When did Kushina give up and change her goal in life?
Did Minato tell anyone about his plan on how to get rid of the jinchuuriki discrimination? Did he talk about it with Kushina? We know that they planned Naruto's birth and tried to make it as safe as possible. When the time to seal Kurama within Naruto came, they both knew how Konoha would treat Naruto. Minato wanted Naruto to be viewed as the son of a hero, but his wishes were thrown aside as soon as his body was cold enough.
With no law to protect the jinchuuriki of the kyubi, I wonder how bold the people of Konoha were in their discrimination against Kushina while Minato was Hokage. Times were different, Minato was highly respected and feared, but how many times did he have to tell someone to mind their words? How many times did he catch Kushina avoiding a certain restaurant or a street? Did he ever feel a slight of resentment against his home for the way they treated his wife? His pregnant wife?
Were there rumors of the child being a monster for being the son of a jinchuuriki? It could be that some Konoha parents telling their kids to not play with the little Uzumaki/Namikaze was a thing before Naruto was even born?
From what I've seen, Konoha has no gentleness for kids of prestigious lineages. Being a child of a powerful shinobi makes your life worse, in fact. A million times over: it happened to Sasuke, to Neji, it happened to Kakashi in the generation before them, it happened to Itachi in the in-between.
I don't think that being the son of the hokage would have saved Naruto for being mistreated by the village. Not when his mother was a jinchuuriki.
It just makes me wonder, you know?
In the time he had, how did Minato try to change things to protect his family?
Was it a matter of needing more time? Or there wasn't a plan at all?

my main problem with epic the musical is that I think it makes Odysseus seem a little more wily and deceptive and a little less powerful. in the odyssey itself he gets out of a lot of situations by being kind of sneaky and underhanded but he isn't exactly a wimp. like he was in The War.

oigughh... the way my girlfren mualani handled her role as a guide and staying true to what she was taught was super wholesome, as well as the morals taught by her (and the fella who first founded the tribe).. 😭♥️🙏 all in all, it was a feel-good ride - the only con in that was the sumeru guy who was so obsessed with finding results to the point where he almost got his ass lava'd into the shadow realm 👺💢
on another note i took plenty of pictures of her and recorded her making koholasaur noises at one point(?) bc the first time i heard that i went into a heart overload like akfbhfuf?!?💕
now i really wanna draw her and inti just travelling all over natlan, having bonfire parties at their makeshift camp and all around just enjoying each others presence....

all the little interalbum references in hit me hard and soft...that's my thiiiing 🥺 i say this specifically because the background faded singing "it's over now" from part of 2 of l'amour de ma vie at the very end of the album killlllssss me. referring to the song itself AND giving a second meaning more direct as the album is literraly over now. unrelated but i love that the last song is about STILL not being over what happened, not having moved on, still being sad. it's actually refreshing to have an album an album not end at the healed point after the events of the album, but still suffering from it, still being in it. It makes the music even more haunting and cinematic and real. feels like walking on the street after pouring your heart out in person or writing. life continues, and you have your bruised heart to carry as you go wherever you have to be.
i absolutely am CRAVING music videos for like half the album. they scream visuals to me, and i've heard billie say she's planning them so....my eyes will be wide open and ready
