It is so dry in the apartment that my hands are cracking and turning red despite frequent lotion applications, and my plants are starting to look crusty around the edges. I made sure to buy a low tech one with a manual dial, because I also ordered an outlet hygrostat (turns current to the outlet on and off based on a humidity range you set). I hope it all works out, because although I hate dry skin and nosebleeds, I hate having mold in my walls even more
