Making a full post for my Fuuta Ballet AU because I actually had more thoughts about it hehe (Ballerina Girl)
+ a version of the au that's more general to the whole cast, with Es as the protag here!
As mentioned in the art, he’s exactly the same as canon except his life now revolves around dance. He’s in a very cliquey company (The Dark Pas de Trois?), surrounded by friends who are very similar-minded. Even though they're not in dance competitions specifically, they're constantly striving for better reviews/reputations than the neighboring companies. Fuuta struggles with stage fright, but doesn't let on to the others -- he just pushes through every time.
They visit a company rehearsing Nutcracker, and one of the snowflake dancers does something problematic backstage. Fuuta blasts him on social media for it, gaining popularity for his own account/dance company. Auditions and things go a bit smoother for them now that they’re internet famous.
There’s a scandal with the dancer playing the demon sorcerer Rothbart in Swan Lake, and Fuuta catches it on film. The video goes viral, once again boosting Fuuta’s popularity and ego. He’s praised as both a hero and talented performer. His friends are also soaring with this newfound fame.
Then, he catches a young background dancer in Sleeping Beauty doing something he deems worthy of a callout. He exposes her all over his social media. Rather than the usual social backlash, the girl is harassed in person. A crowd takes things too far, and an accident results in an injury that ends her career just as it was beginning. She will never dance again.
Facing his suspicious friends (and overcome with his own guilt), Fuuta flees the company. He plans on quitting dance for the rest of his life as well. Instead, he gets a mysterious invitation to the Milgram Dance Academy. He's never heard of them before, and the internet doesn't turn up much on them. Left with few other choices, he shows up for the first lesson.
The first thing that strikes him is it's a boarding school. He must live there and follow their rules in order to attend. They take his phone and restrict outside contact, much to his horror. The school solely focused on the arts -- no competitions, no big shows. There are three major shows they are planning, but Fuuta couldn't find any venues/tickets/advertisements, despite mention of a "global audience". The program is rigorous, and the instructor decides at the end of each semester if their final performance passes or fails.
The only thing more concerning than the sudden restriction of his phone is the strange group of residents he'll be spending his next few years with. His instructor is a mere child, no more than fifteen and very cryptic about their past training. His other classmates range in age and personality. He starts off dancing just as confident as usual, trying to show up the other students and make a strong first impression.
However, he fails the first semester. The grade list is made public to the whole academy, and Fuuta finds himself the subject of watching eyes and condescending whispers. Becoming sensitive to prying stares and audiences, he falls back into his usual stage fright. He endures (emotional) attacks from the passed students, although in his distraction he screws up some cues and gets injured.
Regarding the actual choreography -- as much as I love the classic shows (I mean, just look how cute he is as the nutcracker ;-;) my brain has been going brrrrr picturing ballet adaptations of the mvs... 🎹 / 🎹 / 🎹 / 🎹
#milgram#fuuta kajiyama#no au can get me going like a dancer au can...#i wanted to take the stakes down from death/murder but still have some drama#so theres still injury and guilt mixed in with the dancing lmao#i know the whole cast version makes more sense but i wanted it to be about my special little guy 👏👏👏😂#you know how it is#both these aus require a school full of other dancers but im picturing the milgram cast as fuutas specific class he spends all his time wit#and since the other students are the audience i guess that means you all are part of my au 😌 welcome to dance school 😌#i had the bulk of this jotted down for so long - its nice to finish the art and clean up the phrasing to post!#dropping this while i reboot my brain from my trip... i shall return soon ;-;

first snow — jsc

you were out buying drinks at a convenience store to celebrate your most recent achievement, however, fate had other plans which involved the one Jung Sungchan and a couple of snowflakes
pairing. . . sungchan x female reader
genre. . . fluff
prompt. . . love at first sight
requested?. . . yes!
The wind was coldly blowing through your face, sending small shivers down your spine. Cold didn’t agree with you — but it was still better than hot climates, in which you’d sweat non-stop.
Yet another year was coming close to an end and the imminent question about new year resolutions was popping around in your head, even though said holiday was still a month away. After all, what had you done this year that was somewhat meaningful to you? That’s something worth thinking about.
Well, you did manage to get into the most prestigious psychology program in Seoul while working part time as a barista. Not many people you know can juggle college and a job at the same time, so it’s safe to say that’s a solid achievement.
Nonetheless, you were walking down your street, hands filled with convenience store plastic bags. The good college related news arrived earlier in the day, but you were only having time to celebrate it a few minutes past 11 pm. Your day wasn’t busy at all, it was actually your best friend who only finished her activities at such time in the night.
After walking for a while, you felt a sudden vibration coming from your jacket’s pocket — it was probably your best friend calling.
Once you had your phone in your hands, the time it showed stood out. It was precisely 11:11 pm. An angel number.
Usually, things like horoscopes, angel numbers and tarot cards weren’t your cup of tea but you did, however, believe in fate. You believed there was a reason for you to have seen such numbers together.
Before a line of thought could be finished, you suddenly felt yourself bump into something large and big. It turns out you hadn’t stopped walking while checking your phone and you probably bumped into a wall. Such realization came after your butt hit the ground with a loud “pof” — Thank God it was winter.
“Are you okay?” A sweet voice called out, making you look up again, mildly confused since the walls you know don’t usually talk. “I’m so sorry, I didn’t see you there”
You got up quickly from the ground, expression filled with embarrassment. Now that you knew you were dealing with another human being, the situation became 4 times more stressful than before.
“I’m… Fine”
As soon as you both lock eyes, something in the air shifts. The cold wind suddenly turns warm and it feels like it’s day again. The stranger’s eyes were the kindest you had ever seen in your whole life, and in just a mere second, you managed to feel safe exactly where you were.
It was as amazing as it was strange to be feeling such things. It was also even more exhilarating to know that somewhat, it went both ways. A magical thread of connection was formed in this beautiful wintery night.
“Here, let me help you” He said, getting your bags off the ground and handing them to you. “Please hurry home, the weather forecast said that-” His train of thought was interrupted by a mountain of snowflakes that started pouring down from the sky, making him frown and pout a bit.
“What’s wrong?” You said, after noticing both his frown and the sudden increase in the wind to snow ration.
“I live very far from here, and the weather report said to expect a blizzard today… I can’t believe this year’s first snowfall is going to be that aggressive”
His sad expression broke your heart, and you didn’t even know his name! What absurd thing, you thought, to be this connected and empathetic towards someone you just met, and bumped into?!
“Okay, first things first. What’s your name?”
“Oh, right! I didn’t introduce myself, sorry, I’m Sungchan, and you?” He said, smiling warmly and offering you his hand.
“I’m Y/N, nice to meet you!” You gladly shook his hand after introducing yourself to him. “Would you like to wait it out at my house? I know I just met you, but I wouldn’t like to be in your position if the tables were turned, and I’d be really thankful if someone offered me a place to stay” You were a certified yapper whenever you felt nervous, and right now, you were about to piss your pants out of nervousness.
Here’s the thing, you never knew how to maintain your composure around pretty boys, and Sungchan was just… Breathtaking. It was almost dizzying to look at him for even more than a minute.
You didn’t think someone could ever feel as strongly as you, but right now, Sungchan was there to prove you wrong. He was completely starstruck after gazing upon your beautiful and delicate figure.
“I really don’t know how to thank you. I’m gladly accepting your offer!” He promptly took the bags out of your hands, in order to make things lighter for you. That’s when he noticed the bottles of Soju and the mini-sized bottle of champagne. “Ooh, so we’re celebrating, huh? What’s the occasion?” You two started walking quickly towards your house, making small talk.
“I just got into Seoul’s most prestigious psychology program at SNU! I worked really hard for it” This was an insane accomplishment, you thought to yourself. Pride is not a strong enough word to describe your feelings.
“No way! I’m also a freshman there!” Sungchan’s eyes gleamed with excitement. “Wow, the universe really wanted us to meet, then! That’s nice.”
After talking for a few more minutes, you both finally arrived at your house. Your best friend was waiting for you — worried sick — at the door. She then noticed the very tall man’s presence, which was explained right after her noticing him.
Your best friend seemed to get along with him really well, making you feel happy and at ease — she was hard to please, that one.
This whole situation made you think back to your new year’s resolutions. One thing was missing from your bucket list, one of your prioritized goals: that was, falling in love.
And now, some weird intuitive feeling tells you that Sungchan can help you accomplish said goal
hey guys! i hope you like this and don't be shy to request other things! just make sure you follow the rules ;)

snow yearnings
Sephgeal Week, Day 2: Snowfall
Sephiroth longs only for that which he's not really allowed to pursue.
(Angeal longs for him.)
-
Banora had a tropical climate.
This meant there wasn't enough cold for snow to fall in winter. Hell, it shouldn't even be cold enough for dumbapples to grow, but those seemed to follow their own rules, completely divorced from whatever plans nature had for the land; somewhat smart at that, despite their name.
It also meant Angeal had never experienced snow until he left town.
The very first time, it was on a simulation.
(There was no way Shinra was about to send the young SOLDIER members to harsh weather environments without any sort of training first. Or rather, he liked to imagine that to be the case, hopeful as he had been about that whole thing.)
A simple mission it was; he just needed to sneak into a base, for starters. The enemy guards weren't programmed to be so intelligent as they looked threatening. The issue was more having to do it alone, rather than anything else, really.
Once inside, he would be assigned a computerized ally for the remainder of it.
They didn't tell him he could be assigned Sephiroth.
Just like the simulated snow outside, he emanated a feeling of something missing. Almost like having a snowflake on the palm of his hand that couldn't really melt in a way that mattered, couldn't leave behind any kind of wetness, any sort of imperfection.
Through a hole in the ceiling, fake snow fell on VR Sephiroth. He raised a hand to catch some of it, with yearning on his face that felt almost real for a moment or two, before the moment’s magic was lost.
Angeal decided that day that, if he ever ran across the actual Sephiroth, he would try his best in befriending him.
-
The second time he had experienced snow, it was on an actual mission, during the war.
Sephiroth’s hair had grown long enough to be put up in a ponytail, swinging from side to side as he moved with the grace of a white wolf in its native habitat.
Genesis confessed to Angeal, in a hushed tone, that he really wanted to toss a snowball at Sephiroth to break all that ice, to get him to do something.
The ball of snow hit its red mark before Genesis could even plan anything.
Mischief looked a little too nice on Sephiroth’s face; they were all too painfully young for any of that conflict, and his aim was too good even when just having a little fun. Masamune forever close to him even if they weren't in active combat.
Angeal shielded himself from the onslaught of snow, preferring to observe more than to demolish the two of them too much at it. Heh.
From time to time, Sephiroth’s hands trembled a little bit with the fragility of the moment.
-
He had lost Genesis at some point through the party and had been searching for him, in vain, when he spotted a lonely Sephiroth on the balcony; long silver hair caged in a braid, just as the rest of him was caged by responsibility.
Shinra had forced him to attend, making the whole thing less of an invitation and more of a mission of sorts.
The first snow of the season had just started to fall, some of it gathering on top of Sephiroth's head. Angeal stood by his side for a moment, in silence, merely keeping him the sort of company who wouldn't ask for sordid details for the magazines, for PR.
Snow in Midgar never fell a pure white; it was more of a polluted silver than anything else, much different from snow during missions in places far from there.
Sephiroth didn't talk about his yearning for any of the snow. He pondered, instead, about the need for himself at that crowded, noisy party.
“I’m supposed to be on the battlefield,” he said, “this war is dragging on unnecessarily long, otherwise.”
And after it, what are you gonna do? Angeal wanted to ask, but refrained from doing so, for the question it posed to himself, as well. If there wouldn't be a war anymore in the far future, what would be Shinra’s need for all of them, really?
“I know,” he offered instead, “but if anything, we get to have a break before going back there. Rest a little bit.”
“Does it count as resting if they keep pulling us into these parties?”
“Depends… do you wanna sneak out to enjoy the snow?”
Is this allowed? Those green eyes, suddenly staring at him, wanted to ask.
The smile on Sephiroth’s lips said yes, instead.
-
Sitting on the very top of the Shinra Headquarters, he tends to the wounds Genesis left behind, absentmindedly enough that he doesn't really notice Sephiroth’s approach until a shadow looms over him. The bigger of his two wings deflates a little.
Over the years, he had come to associate Sephiroth with snow, with ice overall; fragile and easy to melt with the proper approach, yet difficult to pierce through, to dig into. Like a very tall, snowy mountain that few would dare climb. Terribly lonely, too. It doesn't help much that Sephiroth seems to enjoy the cold almost as if he’s meant to be there.
Angeal wonders sometimes if Sephiroth was born in a place forever cold, and some subconscious part of him longs for home still.
Not that it matters much when it's the middle of spring.
Regardless, Sephiroth says nothing.
“He was supposed to be my best friend,” Angeal laments instead, meaning to fill the void a little. “We grew up together, we shared everything, we had each other's backs… Now I don't even know if I know him anymore.”
That looming shadow drops down by his side, cautiously reaching out to take his hand with ungloved fingers… a rare sight. Having removed his own gloves before his arrival, Angeal can feel the way Sephiroth’s fingers are constantly cold, even more so as he casts Esuna, followed by a rather strong Curaga. The wounds close with a certain difficulty.
He feels his eyes watering at the sight, at how worn down Sephiroth looks with those dark circles under his eyes and the constant pouting of his lips. The little signs of overwork, the way Sephiroth doesn't seem to be eating well. The way he just looks miserable, as if ready to fall.
(Their current location doesn't help but he forces that line of thought away.)
Angeal blinks a few times, trying to keep the threat of tears at bay; seeing the changes in his old friend hurts him, but Sephiroth’s state hurts so much more.
“He’s changed a lot… since Hollander.”
“He did,” Sephiroth says in a raspy voice. It's not just the dark circles, Angeal notices; the edges of his eyes look reddened, as does the tip of his nose. “I don't want to believe it, but he keeps proving otherwise.”
Did you change, too? He means to ask, but the words die out in his throat. Sephiroth looks away to avoid reviving and letting them out, one hand still firmly holding onto Angeal's almost as if he could really change like that and disappear at any moment, otherwise.
Around them, it starts to snow; not by natural means, but due to an ice materia in Sephiroth’s bracer. An attempt at self comfort.
He brings the hand he’s holding close to his face, leaning a cheek against it, and closes his eyes to keep from locking gazes with Angeal, though it doesn't really work, because he can still feel those blue eyes on him.
Stray snowflakes stick to his eyelashes and linger, as he wishes he could freeze them both in time to keep the moment from ever ending; desperately wanting nothing more than to be locked into some sort of snow globe with Angeal and just be swallowed by a pile of out-of-season cold bliss.
He tries not to cry out the tiny icy touch in his eyes. Attempts to convince himself that he’s already cried enough, earlier.
“Stay,” Sephiroth nearly begs, from the way the word comes out, “stop chasing after him if he’s just chasing after you to do his bidding. I…” He bites down on his pride. “I can't do this alone anymore, and I shouldn't be burdening Zack with our issues. Stay… please.”
A blanket of snowy feathers wraps around him; brings him closer but not so much that he’s completely shielded from the soft snowfall.
He finds, when he opens his eyes again, that he’s not strong enough for what's to come.
(Hojo would yell at him, if he knew.)
“I can't,” Angeal says, “the army would kill me, and there's still the degradation if they don't. You know that.”
Sephiroth’s grip on his hand tightens.
“Ah, so you don't have any faith in me keeping you alive,” he says, deflated, “I see how it is.”
His free hand reaches out for Sephiroth's other cheek with lightning speed, almost.
Sephiroth’s eyes seem to lock on it to avoid his.
“It's just that I don't want you to see me die, that's all. Or worse… be forced to kill me, yourself. If it comes to that.”
“If you die out there, it won't spare me from the repercussions of your death any less than if you were to die by my sword. If anything, I would at least make it quick, out of mercy.”
His words cause Angeal to tilt his head in a combination of shock and confusion. He doesn't know what to feel about the fact that Sephiroth has thought about having to kill him, probably cornered into such musings after refusing to confront both him and Genesis so adamantly.
Depressed mako green dares giving him the time of the night as the elaboration comes, “I would rather not have to do that, though. We… we are supposed to be a team, Angeal. What happened to that?”
What happened to you?
“I guess Shinra happened,” Angeal offers, sheepishly.
As he leans in, Sephiroth finally blinks snowy tears out of his eyes, pretending that they're somewhere else, anywhere else; that they’ve escaped one of those stupid parties to lie down on the snow. That Genesis could appear at any moment to toss a snowball at one of them, and that they're still young enough for none of their present complications to be an issue.
It's why he calls upon snow to begin with; it reminds him of little moments he’s technically not allowed to have.
The floor he ends up being pressed against has a cold bite to it, but it only serves to make Angeal’s lips feel even warmer.
-
Nibelheim’s weather is so much different from what Banora’s used to be like, he thinks.
Not cold enough for snow to fall just yet, but cold enough that if it weren't for the mako, any outsider would be justified in trembling.
Angeal whisks one of the infantryman accompanying them — probably the tiniest cadet he’s ever seen in his whole career — into conversation somehow, even as the guy seems to be definitely anxious about… something. He doesn't press him about it, listening to tales about merciless winters and the monstrous wolves that live up in the mountain range. Of dragons.
Zack finds those very cool, even if they're likely the ones causing enough rampage in the reactor’s proximity that Shinra sends out three Firsts— Or rather, Sephiroth and Zack, that is. Angeal’s just with the group due to Sephiroth's insistence and paranoia.
Being left once did a number on him, just as the possibility of Shinra still being out for Angeal’s head does. Or the looming threat of degradation.
Angeal must be kept close, sometimes so much so that Sephiroth’s pulse feels like it’s his own.
By the town’s gate, Zack finds himself rambling to the poor guy about Gongaga and how with Nibelheim, at least, it seems easier to find one’s way around even when not knowing the place.
“Wait till we get to the mountains,” the infantryman promises him, “you’ll be singing a different tune.
Sephiroth… stops. Looks at the mountains in the distance with a longing so intense that Angeal almost feels jealous, even if there's no logical way a mountain could take Sephiroth away, sweep him off his feet.
A little sigh escapes Sephiroth. Oh. The sight entranced him so much that, for a moment, he may have forgotten how to breathe.
Angeal's mind is filled by Sephiroth’s words to him, from the night before the mission, “I’m considering deserting… I don't think we’re going to find a cure otherwise, and I don't like the way Hojo looks at you.”
The thought falls as if it’s snow; countless pieces of it yet to process. Gazing at Sephiroth doesn't help much with it. If anything, it just gives a vague sensation that Sephiroth could maybe melt with whatever he perceives from the overall sights and then disappear into his own yearning, nowhere to be found.
As if Angeal would allow such a thing. Degradation be damned.
Zack brings his hands together with a clap that almost has both of the distracted lovers jumping out of their skins. Well, Sephiroth a little less so.
“So,” the puppy offers, “should we get some rooms?”

skating over frozen lakes for jeankasa please
Winter Vibes ❄
Figure Skating AU. 851 words. (ao3.)
Mikasa stands between mountains in Northern Ontario. The sky above her is white, the air around her is cold, and delicate little snowflakes are being sprinkled onto every inch of the land. Below her skates is a lake of frozen water, a surface so smooth that she glides across it with ease.
Even if she’s not at a rink — whether it be foreign ice in a competition or the one she trains at — she doesn’t let the circumstances deter her. Instead she remains on her corner of the lake and goes through the choreography with her partner like it’s just another day.
Jean is as diligent as ever, working with her in perfect harmony. They’ve done this dance a handful of times this past season, preferring to perform it for galas as opposed to using it in a program. Even if each step is free from the constraints of rules and judges, there’s still a sense of poise and precision imbued in the way they move, a classical touch that cannot be denied.
In the space they have they go over a familiar lift — the Goose Lift, as Levi had once called it, even if in the judges eyes it's undoubtedly a straight line lift.
Mikasa lets Jean lead her across the ice, their position shifting until she's skating backwards and in front of him. Their eyes remain as connected — hand in hand, they are incontestably bound as they glide. With unbreakable ease he gets into a besti squat and leans forward, allowing her to climb onto him by nestling her skate onto his thigh and stepping up until her knee is on his back. Their hands remain clasped until she finds the balance she needs to let go.
Their lift goes as planned, Mikasa balancing atop Jean’s back with her arms in fourth position, him below her as sturdy and steady as ever. On habit Mikasa looks forward and reminds herself to acknowledge the “audience,” remaining still like a statue of a Greek Goddess.
After a few seconds, Mikasa exits their lift. She twists her body and lets herself fall in front of her partner. As to be expected, Jean catches her in his arms and returns her to the ice like she's made of glass. Side-by-side they proceed through the next steps, moving through their twizzles like water. The world around them blurs into nothing, the sound of their blades against the ice assuring both of them that they are in sync.
Jean stops rotating as Mikasa continues, his hands skillfully finding hers again and helping her twirl like a ballerina. He guides her again, easing her into a partnered spin with his hands on the small of her back as he faces her. They remain eye to eye as they go.
And when it’s all said and done they get into their final pose, abruptly halting their spin. Jean pulls her close and she lets him, letting go of her hands to cup her face and hold her like she’s something precious. Her hands find his shoulders as they stand up straight. They go still with barely an inch of space between them — their foreheads touching, both eyes closed.
Mikasa catches her breath. It’s still strange to perform the dance without Tchaikovsky playing through the rink speakers, to be accompanied by nothing but her partner and the sound of their skates against the ice, to be clothed in more layers than their usual costumes. But as of lately, Mikasa’s been learning more and more that relying on Jean is more than enough to get her through every dance, the circumstances be damned.
She opens her eyes, dark brown meeting hazel. Jean is focused on her and nothing else. She feels his hands leave her face until they find her waist. He breaks into a smile despite the ungodly chill in the air, satisfied with what they achieved.
“I think we’re all good,” Jean says, taking her gloved hands in his to plant a kiss on the back of her palm.
Mikasa nods along, trying her best to not think of the flaws with their skating for once — a stumble during a step sequence, her not engaging her core enough for their Goose Lift — it doesn’t matter, at least not now.
She wipes a snowflake from eye as she and Jean look out towards the rest of the frozen lake. Not too far away are the other skaters participating in the video project. Porco and Pieck are performing their usual pairs elements. In the corner of her eye Mikasa had noticed them doing their side-by-side salchows and triple twist, but at the moment Pieck is taking Porco’s hand to bestow a death spiral on the ice.
As they rotate, the videographer skillfully follows their every move, utilizing their camera to perfectly capture the sight of figure skaters in the purest form of their element.
“Think they’re almost done?” asks Mikasa as Porco and Pieck transition out of their spiral and into a camel spin.
“Probably,” Jean says as he continues to hold her hand. “Let’s give them a minute.”

It seems really notable that Anacostia was the one to pick Devon in 1x3, to where the relay to Alder was "Sergeant Quartermain has found a candidate. She awaits our return." and not a more generic/formal "a candidate has been selected, waiting on our return." Apparently, no one higher ranked than a drill sergeant runs the Biddy Candidate program? For context, West Point is our world's equivalent of War College, and its leadership are a Lieutenant General and a couple of Brigadier Generals. Fort Benning is where US Infantry Basic Training takes place, and its leadership are a Major General, a couple of Brigadier Generals, and a Colonel. In our world, the two highest tiers of Sergeant rank are not allowed to be Drill Sergeants, meaning that Anacostia categorically cannot be a Sergeant Major, the rank which can be each site's senior non-commissioned officer serving directly with the site leadership (e.g. the West Point Superintendent has a Command Sergeant Major), much less the Senior Enlisted Advisor to the chief of staff (Army-specific or to the Joint Chiefs of Staff). So yeah, Anacostia's weird leap-frogging of rank hierarchy all over the series seems to be special snowflake privileges granted by Alder.

Valentinus Affections Prompt #10: Ruined Plans
valentinus affections masterlist
Background: Chigiri has wonderful plans for their first Valentine's Day as husband and wife, but the weather has other plans for Ace in particular. (aka IRL Ace is in a lot of pain because of the weather and wants her fictional boyfriend to take care of her)
Chigiri is a little 🤏lovesick so every "wife" or "husband" has a (!) following it.
wc: 3276; written in third-person, but mostly focused on Chigiri
It was unbearably cold in Japan as Hyouma Chigiri waited outside the airport for the driver his wife (!) had sent along to pick him up. He grumbled into his sweatshirt, the collar pulled up over his nose. He should've checked the weather before he packed and left Manchester, but he had been too excited by the prospect of being home for Valentine's Day this year—Coach Chris Prince had a new girlfriend and had decided to let Manshine City have a long weekend. Chigiri had booked the earliest and fastest flight and then texted his wife (!) the good news. (Seven months in and using the word "wife" still made his chest swell with pride.)
Checking the weather when he disembarked, he was just thankful that the incoming storm hadn't delayed his flight at all. A black SUV pulled up next to him with the Blue Lock logo emblazoned on the side; he couldn't help but chuckle at his wife's (!) boldness as he climbed into the backseat. She was always finding small ways to get on Ego's nerves—using one of the organization's vehicles to transport a non-Blue Lock athlete was absolutely a non-Ego-approved use of resources.
Their home had been built at the base of the mountain the Blue Lock facility sat on. It hadn't taken much to convince Ego that she had to have somewhere to live outside of the facility once she started working with other sports organizations on her endurance training program. Client confidentially and everything—too bad Ego hadn't thought about an exclusivity clause in his precious ex-Olympian's contract. (Which was very amusing considering the "you'll never play for Japan again" angle that Blue Lock was founded with.) (Ego had thought that the endurance program would prove to be a waste of time and her name would be lost to time, hence the lack of exclusivity. He had been wrong about that too.) And where Chigiri's wife (!) went, so did the rest of the staff. Very few staff members actually lived in the facility now—Ego even had his own home in their little gated community, but he still spent the majority of his time in his little apartment at the center of everything Blue Lock. Anri, arguably the smarter one on the dream team, had had her apartment in the nearest city since the very beginning.
Snowflakes were dancing on the wind as the SUV pulled up to their one-story home—his wife (!) still had bad days from time to time, so it made sense for them to not bother with any stairs when they were coming up with a floor plan. Their driveway sloped upward, leaving a puddle at street level to freeze and turn into ice. The SUV's tires spun, unable to find purchase, so Chigiri opted to just get out and walk up the driveway himself. The SUV struggled in reverse, but managed to pull itself back onto the street as Chigiri reached his front door.
It was almost 2 PM now—technically more than 24 hours since he took off from Manchester, but he had slept for part of his connecting flight from Heathrow, so he didn't feel too tired. Maybe he could convince his wife (!) to take a quick nap before getting ready for their date. He'd have to steam the dress he packed for her before they head out, but that shouldn't take too long. He could even use the shower trick she taught him! But the snow fall would make ice-skating particularly beautiful, and he had reserved a table at a gorgeous restaurant while on the flight (the second floor was floor-to-ceiling windows, and they'll be able to watch the snow blanket the city while they stay warm)—
It wasn't until Chigiri was kicking off his sneakers and closing the door behind him that he realized the house was dark. Or darker than it should be. His wife (!) liked to turn on various lights when she got up in the morning; she liked to come home to a lit house when she got off training—the one over the kitchen sink, the floor lamp in their living room, the light in the hallway to their bedroom—perhaps she had been in a rush and forgotten? He took a peek into their attached garage—her car was still there, but that didn't necessarily mean anything. On good days, she often walked up the mountain to the Blue Lock facility instead of taking the car. But if she was still at work, then why had the driver brought him home? Surely she had told them to bring him to wherever she was?
"Honey?" Chigiri finally called out, moving through their home and turning on her lights. He checked every room—the kitchen, the living room, the office, the library, the home gym, and the main bathroom—before making it down the hallway to their master bedroom. A soft yellow light peaked out from under the closed door. Chigiri rapped his knuckles on the door lightly before turning the knob and slowly creaking the door open.
The light came from the lamp on his bedside table. It cast the room in shadow, but nothing could disguise the form under the blankets on the mattress. "Honey?" Chigiri called again, much quieter than the times before.
The form moved, revealing a mop of blonde hair. Then slowly came her face, blue eyes blinking heavily before reaching for her glasses which she had left on his pillow at some point. Chigiri stepped carefully among the items scattered on the floor before reaching her side and helped her sit up while she slid the glasses over her nose.
"Hey Gorgeous," Chigiri whispered before brushing some hair out of her face and kissing her forehead.
"Hey yourself," Ace's voice was hoarse from lack of use and probably dehydration.
"Did you call out of work?" Chigiri did a quick symptom check, noting where his wife (!) seemed to be favoring and her overall well-being. Her skin wasn't clammy under his hand, and she felt a tad warm, but that was most likely from being buried under the blankets. She had deep circles under her eyes and her lips were chapped. She definitely hadn't been drinking enough water today. Her right leg shied away from the weight of his own body, but each movement made her draw her shoulders in on herself.
"Yeah," She reached for her water cup but came up short, so he grabbed it for her, mindful of how he shifted his weight on the bed. "It was a light load for me anyway. Nothing that the coaches can't handle for themselves." She drank greedily from the cup until there was nothing left except for the few drops that leaked out of the corner of her mouth, which she wiped away with the back of her hand.
"Have you eaten anything yet?"
She shook her head. "Not since I got up at 6. I took one step out the door to pick up a package, and felt the cold settle into my bones. I didn't have to check my weather app to know that there was a storm coming."
"Did you have some coffee at least?"
She shook her head again. "I meant to get up again at like 8 or 9 to have some, but I fell out of the bed. Took me a half hour to work up the nerve to get back into bed."
"So withdrawal in addition to hunger and dehydration on top of the pain. Great job, Blue."
Her eyes lit up for the first time at the familiar nickname. "Hey, at least I took all my pills before everything went to shit."
Chigiri hummed his approval before kissing her forehead again. He stood up and moved to their master bathroom. It didn't take long for Ace to hear water running and filling the tub.
Chigiri came back to his wife (!), who had managed to uncover herself and swing both legs to the side of the bed. Ace had one hand on the bedside table and was trying to stand up on her own. Chigiri tsked before deftly sweeping his wife (!) up into his arms and carrying her to the bathroom.
Lavender scented steam was already filling the room, causing Ace to breathe deeply and sigh in contentment. She ignored it, but Chigiri noticed how her breath hitched from the expansion of her lungs against her ribcage. Ace moved to start undressing herself as soon as Chigiri sat her on her vanity stool, only for him to playfully slap her hands away. She giggled, and her eyes glittered as they met his pink ones, his face set in a mock-stern expression.
Chigiri took his role as dotting husband (!) seriously—almost as serious as his soccer career. He adored his independent and headstrong wife (!), but it was moments like these where they had silently agreed that his pride could overtake her own—he had to take care of her, otherwise what good was he as a husband (!)? And so he delicately undressed her—taking his time to kiss wherever she allowed, and running his hands along her skin looking for bruises; there was a large one forming right above her left hip, which must have been from her fall that morning, the area already blooming in deep shades of purple.
Chigiri knelt in front of her as he worked, and as he pulled off her second sock, he felt her shiver in his hand, goose flesh raising along her calves. "Just one more minute, Gorgeous." He said, before pressing a kiss to the inside of her left knee. He placed a matching one on her right and then stood. He picked up her hairbrush and let down her hair, brushing through her bedhead before plaiting it down her back. He placed kisses on both of her shoulders and at the nape of her neck. Then, and only then, did he pick her up, one hand behind her back, the other under her knees, and place her in the tub.
The sigh that Ace released when she was fully submerged in the hot water was world shattering—or his world at least. It occurred to him that if Prince had not wanted a long weekend with his new girlfriend, then Ace would be here suffering alone. He made a mental note to get a gift basket for the girlfriend as a thank you—anonymous of course.
"I'm going to grab you some water and a snack. And then I'll make us a late lunch, alright?"
"You don't have to do that Hyou. You just got home from your flight; you must be exhausted."
"I'll admit I was going to ask you for a nap, but that was when I had different plans for our Valentine's Day date. Now, I'll think I'll manage." He gives her a gentle kiss before ruffling her hair and standing up.
"We can still go through with—"
"There is no way that you are going ice skating." Chigiri laughed from the doorway; he turned to find Ace slouching in the tub, a distinct pout furrowing her brow while the bottom half of her face was submerged. As he stepped out of the bathroom and into the bedroom, a flash of black scurried out from under the bed and into the bathroom behind him. Then he heard Ace cooing at the creature.
"Hello my darling! Are you here to join me? Did you enjoy your nap?" Despite Ace's insistence that Ika Sumi (Squid Ink) was his cat, it was very clear to him who the favorite parent was.
It was as he was walking into the kitchen that something else brushed passed his legs. Or, really, plowed through his legs. Chuutetsu was not called Chuutetsu (Cast Iron) because she was a lightweight cat—she was most assuredly something of a large breed, she was larger than some small dogs, but the shelter hadn't had much information on her. Not only that, but—"Meooooooooowwwwwwww!!"—she was noisy. A quick look at the food dishes revealed that Ace hadn't gotten to feeding the pair of black cats this morning before the pain settled in.
"Mmmrrrrreeeeowwww?" Chuutetsu sat primly, but was looking between him and the food bowls expectantly.
"Right. I'll feed you and your sister, and then I'll feed Mom, hmmm?"
An hour later, Ace was dry and dressed in her loosest pajamas, wrapped up in a heated blanket, and sitting on the kitchen floor.
"I still don't see how that's comfortable when you're in so much pain." Chigiri chuckled, monitoring their lunch on the stove.
"I stopped asking why something was 'comfortable' or not when being in a handstand started relieving some of my shoulder pain." Ace shrugged, sipping from the ice water in her hand.
Chigiri threw his head back and laughed from somewhere deep in his soul. "I don't think I've ever seen Bachira as happy as he was then when you asked for him to teach you how to walk on your hands."
"He made it look so easy!" Meguru Bachira had consistently bragged to her about just "figuring it out" one day when he was little; it had taken Ace three months to take more than a couple of "steps".
"OOF!! No Chuu, I don't want your cuddles right now." Chigiri looked over his shoulder to see that Chuutetsu had climbed into Ace's lap and was sitting on her back paws to rub her face on Ace's cheek.
"Mrow."
"Yes, yes. I know I have the heated blanket out."
"Mrow, mrow."
"No, that doesn't—"
"Mrrrrooowww!"
"Not you too Ika!"
Chigiri turned off the stove and began plating their lunch—rice, chicken cutlets, and pan-fried veggies—making sure to keep his back to his little family so that his wife (!) couldn't see the sly smile on his face from the cats' antics. Better her than me, he thought, very thankful that they hadn't wound themselves around his legs while he had been cooking like they typically did.
"Hyou! Save me from these foul beasts!" Ace shrieked, and Chigiri turned to see that Ace was flat on her back on the floor, both cats purring and taking turns to rub on her face and make biscuits across her chest. The wispy laughter escaping her lips betrayed the pout on her face and the half-assed attempts to push the cats away from her.
"Nah," Chigiri shrugged, taking their plates and drinks to the living room. "I think you'll be fine." Ace continued to giggle and play with the cats while he got everything situated so that she could eat comfortably; their table in the kitchen would have been a better fit for a more traditional date atmosphere, but he could light candles and spread out rose petals with just as much effort in the living room.
Satisfied with his work, Chigiri returned to his wife (!), who had been abandoned by the cats and was sitting up again. He held a hand out for her to take, which she accepted. He knelt to pick up the blanket before she had the chance and motioned for her to go to the living room.
"Oh Hyou!" She whispered in the doorway, taking in the date that he had set up for them. "Thank you! When did you have the time to get all of this? I know I don't have rose petals in the cupboard."'
"You'd be surprised how quickly those on-demand shoppers move on the holidays. Did you know that you were completely out of rice?"
"No, but I'm not surprised. I had plans to go to the store this weekend before you said you were coming home."
"Sorry for ruining your plans." Chigiri smirked before pressing a kiss to Ace's temple and moving around her and into the space to set up her heated blanket. Ace was quiet as she settled in to eat, a small furrow in her brow.
Ace remained quiet as Chigiri regaled her with all the gossip he had stored up from the past few weeks in England—his neighbor broke up with her girlfriend!—and it wasn't until both of their plates were cleared that he decided to prompt her.
"What's wrong?" Chigiri opened his arms and Ace shuffled herself so that she was in his hold, her head resting on his shoulder. When she finally settled, he gently gripped her chin and lifted her face so that he could press a kiss to her brow. As she opened her eyes, he could see tears gathering in the corners.
Scenarios flashed through his mind in the moments it took her to speak. Most of them were relatively tame, like an increase in her pain level or how he had done something wrong, but the nasty side of his pride flared white-hot at the thought that she might have cheated on him while he was away. He quickly brushed the thought aside, knowing that that wouldn't, couldn't, be the case.
"I'm sorry I ruined your plans." Ace's voice was thick with the yet unshed tears. "Ice skating sounds like it would've been really nice." She snuggled deeper into his side, breath hitching when the movement triggered her pain.
Chigiri couldn't help but chuckle, mostly at his own foolish thoughts, and pressed a kiss to the top of her head. "We got to spend Valentine's Day together for once, that's all I could ever hope for. Anything else is just a bonus."
"It's a waste of a trip, though," Ace sniffled and Chigiri could feel her tears seeping into his shirt. "Almost 17 hours on a plane and jet lag from the time change just to cuddle on the couch for a day or two?"
At that moment, Chigiri's phone chimed several times in his pocket. He pulled it out to see severe winter weather notices for both Manchester and Tokyo; and his return flight was delayed to at least Tuesday, pending the actual outcome of the storms. He laughed heartily for his luck and sent a quick text to Prince before setting the phone down and picking his wife's (!) face up in both of his hands.
He kissed her deeply, drawing her to him. When they broke apart, he wiped the tears off of her cheeks. "Looks like I'm here for more than a day or two."
"But practice—" She gripped the front of his shirt with both of her fists, not wanting to release him in fear of this turning out to be a dream.
"Prince can't fight with me about the weather. He'll probably take the opportunity to stay bundled up with his girl, too."
"Ego might order the staff up into the facility depending on how bad it is."
"Great! It's been a while since you and I actually got to work together." A strand of her hair had fallen into her face, so he brushed it back behind her ear.
"We should probably go to the store for more food."
"Make me a list, and I'll take care of it."
"But what if—"
Chigiri interrupted her with another kiss. "Stop worrying. Let's just take the gift we've been given and figure everything else out as we need to. Yeah?"
When she didn't reply, Chigiri ducked his head down so that he could look up and into his wife's (!) eyes. "Yeah?"
Ace rolled her eyes before lifting her glasses and drying her face with her sleeve. A small smile appeared on her lips when she finally looked at him again. "Yeah, okay."
Chigiri couldn't help the Cheshire grin that spread across his face. "Great! Then let's get dessert sorted, hmm?"

A Parent’s Journey Through Seasons of Learning at Kool Kids Child Care
Every parent wants the best start in life for their child, and as someone who once struggled to find the right care and education for my son, I know how hard it can be. We live in a time when early learning plays a major role in shaping a child’s future, yet not every place offers the right balance of love, safety, and education. After months of searching and visiting various programs, I finally discovered Kool Kids Child Care. It wasn’t just another daycare; it was a place where my child could grow, learn, and feel at home. My experience there completely changed how I see early childhood education.
When I first stepped into their center, I immediately felt a sense of peace. The rooms were full of color, children’s laughter filled the air, and the teachers looked happy and engaged. I learned that Kool Kids was more than a daycare—it was an early education center. Their focus was not just keeping children busy, but helping them learn, explore, and prepare for school and life. As a mom, that gave me hope and confidence in their program.
Each classroom was organized in a way that sparked curiosity. Whether the kids were working with blocks, looking at picture books, or doing crafts, everything had a purpose. I was especially drawn to how they used creative themes and seasons to plan their activities. Every week brought something new, from nature walks and puppet shows to counting games and simple science. I was excited to enroll my son and see how he would grow in this warm and loving environment.
The teachers at Kool Kids have a special gift. They speak to children with patience and respect, and they know how to bring out the best in every child. My son had trouble adjusting to new places, but his teacher stayed close, offering calm words and gentle encouragement. Before long, he was smiling, singing, and joining in group activities with joy. He began to open up, make friends, and take pride in showing us the drawings and letters he had learned.
One thing that really stood out was the center’s attention to seasons and how learning changes throughout the year. For example, during the colder months, the teachers introduced winter math activities for preschoolers. These included counting snowflakes, matching mitten pairs, and building number towers with snow-themed images. My son loved it. He came home talking about how “five snowballs plus two more makes seven,” and proudly showed me his cotton ball snowman. It was math in disguise—as play—and it made learning fun and exciting.
Another season that surprised me was summer. I thought learning would slow down, but at Kool Kids, it was the opposite. They had a full preschool summer break program packed with hands-on lessons, creative games, and water play. My son joined in nature scavenger hunts, practiced letters with sidewalk chalk, and explored colors with frozen paint cubes. Every activity was designed to support his growth while letting him enjoy the season. The summer break wasn’t just a break—it was a beautiful blend of education and play that kept his mind active while school was out.
One day, I spoke with his teacher about how he was doing. She shared thoughtful insights about his learning style, what he enjoyed, and where he needed support. She said he was starting to show early problem-solving skills and that he liked asking “why” questions. I was amazed by how well she knew him. This personal attention is something I value most at Kool Kids. They treat each child as a whole person, not just someone to watch over.
That commitment to each child is what makes this place a true early childhood learning center. They understand that the early years are when the brain is growing the fastest, and every moment counts. Their teachers are trained in early childhood development and use proven methods to support language, math, emotional growth, and motor skills. They don’t just teach letters and numbers—they build the habits, thinking skills, and social awareness that children need for success in school and life.
For example, my son learned to take turns during circle time, ask for help when needed, and use his words when upset. These may sound small, but they’re the foundation of confidence and cooperation. They also teach kids how to care for themselves, from washing hands to packing away toys. These lessons helped my son become more independent, which also made things easier at home.
I also loved how the center celebrated holidays and special events with fun and learning in mind. Whether it was a costume day in October, a winter sing-along in December, or a summer picnic in July, they brought joy and community into the classroom. Parents were invited to join or send notes and treats, and we always received photos and updates. I felt connected to my child’s world and knew he was safe, learning, and loved.
At the end of each day, my son came home tired but happy. He would tell me about his friends, his teachers, and what he had discovered that day. His stories were full of laughter, songs, and curiosity. And I saw the results at home—he was using new words, counting objects, and showing kindness to his little sister. It was clear that Kool Kids was making a difference.
My journey with Kool Kids Child Care has been more than just a childcare solution—it has been a partnership in parenting. They’ve helped me understand what early education should look like and how powerful it can be. I never expected to find a place that cared so deeply, taught so well, and loved my child as if he were their own. But I did.
If you’re a parent who’s searching for a nurturing space where your child will thrive, I can’t recommend Kool Kids Child Care enough. From infants to preschoolers, from winter to summer, they offer a full learning experience wrapped in kindness and trust. Whether you’re looking for fun seasonal activities or a strong academic foundation, Kool Kids will guide your child every step of the way.
Their programs aren’t just about today—they’re about tomorrow. And every child deserves that kind of start.

10 Business Intelligence & Analytics Trends to Watch in 2025
Introduction
In 2025, business intelligence and analytics will have evolved from optional advantages to essential business drivers. Organizations leveraging advanced analytics consistently outperform competitors, with Forrester reporting that data-driven companies are achieving 30% annual growth rates.
We’ve witnessed a significant shift from simple descriptive analytics to AI-powered predictive and prescriptive models that don’t just report what happened but forecast what will happen and recommend optimal actions.
According to Gartner’s latest Analytics Magic Quadrant, organizations implementing advanced BI solutions are seeing a 23% improvement in operational efficiency and a 19% increase in revenue growth. As McKinsey notes, “The gap between analytics leaders and laggards is widening at an unprecedented rate.”
Trend 1: Augmented Analytics Goes Mainstream
Augmented analytics has matured from an emerging technology to a mainstream capability, with AI automating insight discovery, preparation, and visualization. Tools like Microsoft Power BI with Copilot and Tableau AI now generate complex analyses that previously required data science expertise.
A manufacturing client recently implemented augmented analytics and identified supply chain inefficiencies that saved $3.2M annually. These platforms reduce analysis time from weeks to minutes while uncovering insights human analysts might miss entirely.
Trend 2: Data Fabric and Unified Data Environments
Data fabric architecture has emerged as the solution to fragmented data environments. First popularized by Gartner in 2020, this approach creates a unified semantic layer across distributed data sources without forcing consolidation.
Organizations implementing data fabric are reporting 60% faster data access and 40% reduction in integration costs. For enterprises struggling with data silos across departments, cloud platforms, and legacy systems, data fabric provides a cohesive view while maintaining appropriate governance and security.
Trend 3: AI and ML-Driven Decision Intelligence
Decision intelligence — combining data science, business rules, and AI — has become the framework for optimizing decision-making processes. This approach transcends traditional analytics by not just providing insights but recommending and sometimes automating decisions.
Financial institutions are using decision intelligence for real-time fraud detection, reducing false positives by 37%. Retailers are optimizing inventory across thousands of SKUs with 93% accuracy. This shift is fundamentally changing organizational culture, moving from “highest-paid person’s opinion” to data-validated decision frameworks.
Trend 4: Self-Service BI for Non-Technical Users
The democratization of analytics continues with increasingly sophisticated self-service tools accessible to business users. Platforms like Qlik and Looker have evolved their interfaces to allow drag-and-drop analysis with guardrails that maintain data integrity.
This shift has reduced report backlogs by 71% for IT departments while increasing analytics adoption company-wide. The key enabler has been improved data literacy programs, with 63% of Fortune 1000 companies now investing in formal training to empower employees across all functions.
Trend 5: Real-Time and Embedded Analytics
Real-time, in-context insights are replacing static dashboards as analytics becomes embedded directly within business applications. Technologies like Kafka, Snowflake Streams, and Azure Synapse are processing millions of events per second to deliver insights at the moment of decision.
Supply chain managers are tracking shipments with minute-by-minute updates, IoT platforms are monitoring equipment performance in real-time, and financial services are detecting market opportunities within milliseconds. The “data-to-decision” window has compressed from days to seconds.
Trend 6: Data Governance, Privacy & Ethical AI
With regulations like GDPR, CCPA, and the EU AI Act now fully implemented, governance has become inseparable from analytics strategy. Leading organizations have established formal ethics committees and data stewardship programs to ensure compliance and ethical use of data.
Techniques for bias detection, algorithmic transparency, and explainable AI are now standard features in enterprise platforms. Organizations report that strong governance paradoxically accelerates innovation by establishing clear frameworks for responsible data use.
Trend 7: Cloud-Native BI and Multi-Cloud Strategies
Cloud-native analytics platforms have become the standard, offering scalability and performance impossible with on-premises solutions. Google BigQuery, Snowflake, and Azure Synapse lead the market with petabyte-scale processing capabilities.
Multi-cloud strategies are now the norm, with organizations deliberately distributing analytics workloads across providers for resilience, cost optimization, and specialized capabilities. Orchestration platforms are managing this complexity while ensuring consistent governance across environments.
Trend 8: Natural Language Processing in BI Tools
Conversational interfaces have transformed how users interact with data. “Ask a question” features in platforms like Tableau GPT, ThoughtSpot, and Microsoft Copilot allow users to query complex datasets using everyday language.
These NLP capabilities have expanded analytics access to entirely new user groups, with organizations reporting 78% higher engagement from business stakeholders. The ability to simply ask “Why did sales drop in the Northeast last quarter?” and receive instant analysis has made analytics truly accessible.
Trend 9: Composable Data & Analytics Architectures
Composable architecture — building analytics capabilities from interchangeable components — has replaced monolithic platforms. This modular approach allows organizations to assemble best-of-breed solutions tailored to specific needs.
Microservices and API-first design have enabled “analytics as a service” delivery models, where capabilities can be easily embedded into any business process. This flexibility has reduced vendor lock-in while accelerating time-to-value for new analytics initiatives.
Trend 10: Data Democratization Across Organizations
True data democratization extends beyond tools to encompass culture, training, and governance. Leading organizations have established data literacy as a core competency, with training programs specific to each department’s needs.
Platforms supporting broad access with appropriate guardrails have enabled safe, controlled democratization. The traditional analytics bottleneck has disappeared as domain experts can now directly explore data relevant to their function.
Future Outlook and Preparing for 2025
Looking beyond 2025, we see quantum analytics, autonomous AI agents, and edge intelligence emerging as next-generation capabilities. Organizations successfully navigating current trends will be positioned to adopt these technologies as they mature.
To prepare, businesses should:
Assess their BI maturity against industry benchmarks
Develop talent strategies for both technical and business-focused data roles
Establish clear use cases aligned with strategic priorities
Create governance frameworks that enable rather than restrict innovation

Best DBT Course in Hyderabad | Data Build Tool Training
What is DBT, and Why is it Used in Data Engineering?
DBT, short for Data Build Tool, is an open-source command-line tool that allows data analysts and engineers to transform data in their warehouses using SQL. Unlike traditional ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes, which manage data transformations separately, DBT focuses solely on the Transform step and operates directly within the data warehouse.
DBT enables users to define models (SQL queries) that describe how raw data should be cleaned, joined, or transformed into analytics-ready datasets. It executes these models efficiently, tracks dependencies between them, and manages the transformation process within the data warehouse. DBT Training

Key Features of DBT
SQL-Centric: DBT is built around SQL, making it accessible to data professionals who already have SQL expertise. No need for learning complex programming languages.
Version Control: DBT integrates seamlessly with version control systems like Git, allowing teams to collaborate effectively while maintaining an organized history of changes.
Testing and Validation: DBT provides built-in testing capabilities, enabling users to validate their data models with ease. Custom tests can also be defined to ensure data accuracy.
Documentation: With dbt, users can automatically generate documentation for their data models, providing transparency and fostering collaboration across teams.
Modularity: DBT encourages the use of modular SQL code, allowing users to break down complex transformations into manageable components that can be reused. DBT Classes Online
Why is DBT Used in Data Engineering?
DBT has become a critical tool in data engineering for several reasons:
1. Simplifies Data Transformation
Traditionally, the Transform step in ETL processes required specialized tools or complex scripts. DBT simplifies this by empowering data teams to write SQL-based transformations that run directly within their data warehouses. This eliminates the need for external tools and reduces complexity.
2. Works with Modern Data Warehouses
DBT is designed to integrate seamlessly with modern cloud-based data warehouses such as Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, and Databricks. By operating directly in the warehouse, it leverages the power and scalability of these platforms, ensuring fast and efficient transformations. DBT Certification Training Online
3. Encourages Collaboration and Transparency
With its integration with Git, dbt promotes collaboration among teams. Multiple team members can work on the same project, track changes, and ensure version control. The autogenerated documentation further enhances transparency by providing a clear view of the data pipeline.
4. Supports CI/CD Pipelines
DBT enables teams to adopt Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) workflows for data transformations. This ensures that changes to models are tested and validated before being deployed, reducing the risk of errors in production.
5. Focus on Analytics Engineering
DBT shifts the focus from traditional ETL to ELT (Extract, Load, Transform). With raw data already loaded into the warehouse, dbt allows teams to spend more time analyzing data rather than managing complex pipelines.
Real-World Use Cases
Data Cleaning and Enrichment: DBT is used to clean raw data, apply business logic, and create enriched datasets for analysis.
Building Data Models: Companies rely on dbt to create reusable, analytics-ready models that power dashboards and reports. DBT Online Training
Tracking Data Lineage: With its ability to visualize dependencies, dbt helps track the flow of data, ensuring transparency and accountability.
Conclusion
DBT has revolutionized the way data teams approach data transformations. By empowering analysts and engineers to use SQL for transformations, promoting collaboration, and leveraging the scalability of modern data warehouses, dbt has become a cornerstone of modern data engineering. Whether you are cleaning data, building data models, or ensuring data quality, dbt offers a robust and efficient solution that aligns with the needs of today’s data-driven organizations.
