talking about being online and how i need to use my phone less
gonna be very real, i don't know if i can continue being so involved with social media and the internet in general anymore. my anxiety is mostly of the social type, i get worse when i have to go be a real person or when i know i have to leave my home for an extended period of time. that's why i'm not doing well rn actually, i have a trip to vermont coming up in early june and my mom really wants me to start driving, which i'm not even sure i can do without anti anxiety meds bc i'm a mess behind the wheel.
however, my anxiety is exacerbated by the shit i see on the internet, all of the political bullshit, the homophobia, the misogyny, the accelerating online culture that promotes general unintelligence, tiktok, and the fast paced cycle that the internet inherently has. the internet is not the same as it used to be when i first got online in 2015. i am also not the same person i was in 2015.
i'm not sure if i can tackle my anxiety without being medicated, but i know for sure that i can't begin to help myself when i'm addicted to the internet. i have to get offline and start doing dbt and taking st john's wort supplements or something, just anything i can get my hands on. and i need to go on walks.
my life right now is at a standstill, i need to get a ged or a drivers license to go forward. with my anxiety being so bad, i can't drive safely. nor can i focus properly on learning for the tests, and studying is going to be very fucking hard if i can't find a class that can help me. i don't mention it on here but i'm pretty much uneducated and only attended 2 years of jr high school, and for those 2 years i didn't focus at all on schoolwork bc i was extremely suicidal. i'm starting from scratch learning-wise.
so i'm not sure yet how i'm going to proceed, i know that lessening my screentime specifically on my phone will help me out a lot, but i'm not sure how to do this since i'm practically a hikkikomori and extremely used to being on my phone.
all this to say that i'll probably have periods where i stop posting and just leave my queue running. i really need to just throw my phone in my closet and go about my day with just my laptop and mp3 player. new me, new daily routine right? i have books and gameplay videos that i need to catch up on, and i need to be forced to want to go outside for a walk.
