If you're still defending ChatGPT please condsider the following
I feel like the angle of “fuck ChatGPT” that isn’t given enough attention is the traffic it draws away from the websites it’s ripping information from.
Now Google does this already. If you google anything now, Google’s “Search Labs AI Overview” will give you what you’re looking for summarized without having to scroll and click on various links.
Google has been up to some shady shit for years redirecting traffic. It used to just be a search engine—you used it to find the non-Google-owned websites that you needed. Now, though, Google is doing everything it can to keep you on Google.
If you search up a product, Google fills half the page with ad-placement links, image search results, the AI overview, Google reviews, and other noise so you stay with them.
Less traffic to the websites it’s ripping information from means those websites don’t get any profit for the information they’re providing, through ad revenue and such.
You might not care whether XYZ website makes money off you, but hosting and maintaining a website costs money, and if there’s no return on investment because search engines are gobbling it up, it’s that much harder for these businesses to stay afloat and not either bury their info under ads, or stick it behind a paywall.
Enter ChatGPT.
Remember when your teacher slandered Wikipedia to kingdom come? “Don’t use Wikipedia! It’s not a reliable source of information!”
Wikipedia, at the very least, demands sources for all of its information, and scroll to the bottom of any article to find exactly where the people who wrote it are getting their evidence.
Google might show you the most relevant link, one out of the thousands of possible search results. It’s foggy here so I googled a question about fog, and beneath the AI overview was a link to NOAA, for example.
ChatGPT goes one step farther. ChatGPT does not fact-check. All it does is answer your questions, but where it’s getting those answers and how correct those answers are, are pulled from the Internet. And if the Internet’s most popular results are wrong, ChatGPT isn’t going to care, it’s just going to regurgitate what those results are saying.
You still have to check your sources, but the difference is, now you don’t know who those sources are, or how biased their information is.
If I want to know the morality of declawing my cats, and I google “should I declaw my cats” I might get two very different answers. The ASPCA will tell you it’s harmful to the cats and animal abuse. “SuburbanBoomerCatMoms.net” (hypothetical) might tell you you gotta do it for the sake of your furniture and that outcry from the other side is just leftwing snowflake libtards.
Wikipedia will cite both of those sources (actually Wikipedia won’t give the second one any credence at all but hypothetically speaking). Google will show you the URL before you click it to both of those sources. ChatGPT will steal from both of those sources, not tell you it’s doing it, and present it as if both carry equal authority on animal care. Do you see the issue here?
Saying all of this because I know somebody who’s putting their medical information into ChatGPT to “translate” it for them.
Anyone who googles any symptom finds out pretty quick that “you have cancer” is a very popular and overblown answer. At this point I have to brush them off because arguing with them won’t change their mind.
So even if you don’t care about information diversity, sustained by giving those smaller websites traffic and revenue, you should care about the smoke and mirrors being very quickly normalized around hiding where information is coming from and making it that much harder to sort fact from fiction.
The Robot cannot be an unbiased source of information, because it is trained on the biases of the information it is scalping. It is your job, your responsibility, and your right to know and understand the ulterior motives behind what any one source is telling you.

Ashes of Panem
Part 1
Paring: (young) Coriolanus x Reader
Word count: 2.2k
Summary: Coriolanus Snow and Y/N Ashcroft had trained together since their entry into the academy. However, when their names were drawn, they found themselves pitted against each other and twenty other children in these games. As the looming threats of war and the approaching games forced Coriolanus and Y/N to forge an alliance. Amidst these challenges, they had to learn to trust and support one another in order to break free from Coin's oppressive regime.
Warnings: Mild Languge, a little violence but it's barely there
You stood among a cluster of your classmates, fixated on the mat in front of you. Beside you, Sejanus cheered for Coriolanus, who moved around the mat with a bruise emerging under his left eye and a split lip courtesy of Zephyra's earlier hit. Chewing on your lip, you winced when she delivered a hook to his cheek, causing him to stagger back slightly, attempting to shake off the blow. "Come on, Snow, don't mess this up now," you whispered, your eyes tracking his every motion. It felt peculiar, silently talking to yourself as if he could hear your words.
Sejanus glanced over at you, raising a brow at your muttered encouragement. "Are you actually rooting for him? I thought you despised the guy," he remarked, shaking his head in disbelief. He wasn't wrong. It was surprising, even to yourself, how determined you were to witness his victory.
Shrugging, you cleared your throat. "Maybe I'm just tired of hearing Zephyra boast about being in second place. It's time for a change," you grumbled, looking away. However, the sound of a body hitting the ground snapped your head back towards the ring. Scanning the area, you couldn't spot him. He couldn't have lost; he had been doing so well. Did he let his guard down? The room fell into an eerie silence, everyone holding their breath.
Then, Coriolanus stood up, glancing around before a triumphant grin spread across his face. "Oh my god, he actually won," you whispered. As your words left your lips, the room erupted in cheers. Sejanus grabbed your arm, shaking you while shouting for his friend. A wide smile crossed your face as Coriolanus's eyes roamed the crowd, eventually landing on you. Applauding, you gave him a thumbs-up before navigating your way to the front of the crowd.
He hopped off the mat and met you as you made your way to the front. "Told you I'd win, Snowflake. And don't think I didn't catch you doubting me," he said, looking down at you. You responded with a scoff and an eye roll at his familiar cockiness, barely five minutes after his victory.
"Don't let it get to your head, Snow. I was hoping she'd pin you so I wouldn't have to endure your gloating if you moved up in rank," you grumbled, feeling uncomfortable as your classmates jostled you around, fighting for Coriolanus's attention, even if just for a moment.
"Just remember, snow lands on top, so I'll be aiming for your rank next," he grinned, a wink accompanying his words. You fought the urge to gag. You recognized the double meaning of his words, yet couldn't deny the warmth that crept up the back of your neck at the thought. "Excuse me, Snowflake, I've got some celebrating to do," he grinned, brushing past you into the crowd, receiving cheers and pats on the back. Coriolanus Snow was undeniably cocky, but strangely, why did it seem so fitting for him?
---
There you stood in front of the screen mounted next to the door just outside of the training hall. Behind you, your classmates conversed amongst themselves while awaiting the posting of scores and potential placement changes. Beside you, Coriolanus rocked back and forth on his feet in anticipation. "Careful, Snow, one might think you're nervous by how fidgety and tense you seem," you remarked, rolling your shoulders back to relieve some tension.
"I'm not nervous, more curious, really. I never quite understood the criteria they use to evaluate us. It's definitely not based on wins or losses, or else you wouldn't be ranked first," he mentioned casually, accompanied by a shrug. It stung a bit, but he wasn't entirely off-base. You've faced enough losses that should have impacted your ranking, especially after your recent match with Jackson. That match proved it vividly; you thought you had the upper hand, yet he anticipated your moves and swiftly took you down with a kick to the side of your head.
The screens illuminated with scores, prompting a surge of people crowding toward the front, eager to see the new rankings. Scanning the screen, a soft sigh of relief escaped as you remained in the top spot. Your name halted just above Coriolanus's on the list, while Jackson remained in third place. Clemensia and Sejanus joined you, with Clemensia placing a reassuring hand on your shoulder. "Looks like you and Snow are the final top two until selection," she noted.
Coriolanus's earlier words lingered in your mind. You shouldn't be ranked first now. What exactly were they measuring your skills on? The criteria were never truly disclosed, a question that hadn't occurred to you until this moment. The shrill bell signaling the end of the hour prompted students to move to their next class. A hand encircled your arm, drawing your attention to blue eyes. "You took a rough hit from Jackson earlier. We should get you checked for a concussion," he urged, guiding you down the hall.
Halting abruptly, you pulled your arm away. "I'm fine, Snow. I need to attend this class; let's go before we're late," you insisted, pivoting swiftly and striding down the hallway. Selection day loomed closer, and a mild concussion was the least of your concerns. Settling into your seat, Sejanus sat to your left and Coriolanus to your right. Focusing on your notes, you avoided the intense gaze from your right, feeling it pierce through you, threatening to ignite your skin.
The class hushed as Vanderbilt entered, his footsteps echoing against the marble floor. "Many of you underwent combat evaluations today, and I must say, I'm reasonably surprised. Some of you exceeded expectations," he remarked, glancing at Coriolanus, "while others fell short." His stern gaze landed on you. Sinking back in your chair, you attempted to shield yourself from the gazes of everyone in the room.
"When we discuss defense, our instinct often leans towards combat. However, that's not always the case, especially concerning survival. Alliances might come to mind, and sure, they can work, but for how long? You're all conditioned to turn on one another. I'm aware that once you step into that arena in a matter of weeks, my words and lessons may become meaningless. Nevertheless, my duty is to prepare you for survival; it's your decision whether to heed my advice," he remarked, leaning against the podium with his hands in his pockets. "Ultimately, choosing yourself is the best survival strategy for each of you. The person you love and your friends are bound to become adversaries the moment the games commence," he continued, prompting hushed whispers to echo off the walls. You couldn't fathom why everyone seemed so shocked; it was a notion you'd been hearing since childhood.
Raising your hand, his gaze snapped to you. "Yes, Ms. Ashcroft?"
"What criteria do evaluations measure us on? It's not wins and losses, so what exactly is the basis?" you inquired. Something sparked in his eyes as he pondered. Vanderbilt seemed to consider his words carefully, prompting silence in the classroom as everyone awaited his response.
Nodding, he scanned the room and sighed. "That's a fair question, Ms. Ashcroft. You're the first with enough courage to ask, so I feel inclined to explain." Shifting in your seat, you sensed Sejanus and Coriolanus holding their breaths. "You're evaluated based on marketability. The districts and the rest of the capital watch the games. Similar to the original games, you're marketed to districts whose citizens wish to sponsor you. With District Twelve gone, eleven districts fight for a chance to represent the chosen individuals. Twenty-two of you will be assigned to the district that offers the highest bid for you. What aid you receive in that arena is at their discretion. Each evaluation you complete is live-streamed to every district, and they make their selection from there," he explained with a shrug.
Rage surged within you at his words, dehumanizing your existence. "Isn't this exactly what the rebellion fought to end in the old games? If I may speak frankly, it seems you're finding excuses to continue the games because deep down, you relish the control you wield over us, just like the capital's control over the districts," you snapped.
You felt a swift kick to your foot, turning to see Coriolanus shaking his head. "Y/N, stop. They'll take you to correction," he whispered, placing a hand on your thigh. Scornfully, you pushed his hand away and met the professor's blank stare.
"It's quite alright, Mr. Snow. She has a valid point and a reason to be angry about our methods. Now, Ms. Ashcroft, I will not report you for speaking out of turn. We'll attribute it to the stress of selection day, and I'd hate to see your potential go to waste over a small outburst," Vanderbilt said, his tone stern. "I doubt you need another history lesson since you discuss the events of the rebellion with Dr. Sinclair, and I know she's thorough in her lectures. I suggest you direct your concerns and questions to her rather than trying to cause a stir in my class from now on, Ms. Ashcroft. Mr. Snow, I hope you can ensure your friend refrains from speaking out of turn in the future," he concluded before continuing his lecture on the disadvantages of building a campfire.
---
You were all gathered in the auditorium after a last-minute summons from Dean Highbottom immediately after your class ended. Coriolanus sat next to you, ranting about your carelessness in speaking out in the middle of class and how you risked being sent off. Frankly, you wouldn't mind if that happened; it would save you from having to deal with the games.
"Students, take a good look around, notice who is present and who is not," Dean Highbottom announced, observing as everyone began to figure out who was missing—two students were indeed absent, Clemensia and Felix. "Now that you all have an idea, Mr. Ravinstill and Ms. Dovecote were taken to correction for conspiring against the capital and the academy. I know this may come as a shock, considering we have selections in a few weeks. I want to make one thing clear to all of you: just because selections are in a few weeks does not mean you are safe from correction," he emphasized, his gaze resting on you.
They were taken to correction? Why were they so keen on the idea now, considering the games happen in three weeks? What difference would it make since they were going to be thrown into the arena anyway? No one truly knew what correction entailed, but it was a place where students who spoke out against the capital or even the academy were taken. What occurred inside remained a mystery, but those who emerged were vastly different, almost like strangers.
"While we are on the topic, I would like to discuss your remaining schedules for the past couple of weeks as you prepare for selections. Starting off, you will no longer attend combat training and your survival lectures," Dean Highbottom announced, prompting shouts from the room and students jumping to their feet. No more training? The thought left you perplexed; you were soon going to be fighting for your life, and now they were taking away the only preparation you had for what lay ahead.
"The next announcement is your rankings. Each year we draw names for the games, and those who do not attend the games are reassigned to other duties. This year we would like to try something out," Highbottom continued, and the room fell silent, your gaze slipping toward Coriolanus, visibly tense.
"Coriolanus, breathe. You're going to pass out," you whispered softly, watching as his shoulders slowly relaxed, his breath steadying. You knew his worries—about being torn away from Tigris and his grandmother.
"We have decided to adopt a few new features this year, and although it may come as a shock, I expect you all to be ready to deal with the sudden change. Those who are not selected for the games on selection night will be assigned one male and female duo and become their mentor for the games," Highbottom announced, the hall erupting in roars. He tried to talk over the students' shouts, signaling for their attention.
"The next feature is that selection night will be hosted as a gala rather than the usual choosing here. All of you are expected to be on your best behavior as you will be shown off to each district. As for our final addition, that will be revealed on selection night," he added.
As chaos ensued with students yelling out questions, demanding to know about Clemensia and Felix or what to expect for selection night, you sensed something amiss. The academy was concealing something, making too many changes, sending others to correction just before the games. Coriolanus shifted beside you, sharing the same disquieting feeling.
Highbottom raised his hand, the crowd settling into their seats. "I know this is all a shock and completely against what you were all trained and prepared for. We do apologize, but we need to make some adjustments for this year's games. As for the gala, your rankings will determine who you will be attending with," he explained, detailing how the rank assignment would work.
Leaning over, Coriolanus wore a smug smirk. "Well, Snowflake, looks like we'll be attending together. Be sure to wear red; it suits your skin tone," he said, before turning his attention back to Highbottom's speech. There was no way you were attending this event with Coriolanus Snow, the one person who managed to get under your skin.

A Deep Dive into Stylized UE5 Environments: Finn Bogaert’s Train station Project
Finn Bogaert’s recent project, "Trainstation," offers a compelling case study in creating a stylized environment using Unreal Engine 5 (UE5). This project showcases Bogaert’s exploration of material creation, particle effects, and seasonal transitions within a virtual space. This blog will reflect on the technologies used, their applications, and how they contributed to the overall project, following a similar structure to Bogaert’s original post.
Technologies and Techniques Used
1. Unreal Engine 5: The Foundation
Scene Management: Bogaert utilized UE5 as the central tool for building and rendering his environment. The engine’s advanced capabilities in managing dynamic lighting and realistic shaders were crucial for achieving the desired look and feel of the Trainstation scene.
Ultra Dynamic Sky & Weather Blueprint : UE5’s Ultra Dynamic Sky plugin allowed for the creation of customizable skies and weather effects, enabling Bogaert to simulate various seasons effectively. This tool was pivotal in implementing seasonal changes like rain, snow, and fall within the scene.
2. Material Creation with Substance 3D Designer
Complex Textures: Substance 3D Designer was used to craft intricate materials such as bark, pebbles, and bricks. Bogaert’s approach involved creating base materials and then enhancing them with Parallax Occlusion to add depth and realism.
Vertex Painting: UE5’s vertex painting capabilities were employed to simulate shading and highlights without creating multiple materials. This method streamlined the texturing process and allowed for dynamic changes in the materials based on the scene’s seasonal context.
3. Asset Creation and Workflow
Blockout and Reference Gathering**: Bogaert started with a blockout phase using fSpy for accurate camera matching and then moved to Maya for detailed modeling. This process ensured that the scene’s proportions and placements were true to the concept art.
Optimization and Unwrapping : The assets were optimized for performance, and UV unwrapping was meticulously done to prepare for texturing. This step was essential in maintaining visual quality while ensuring efficiency in the final scene.
4. Particle Effects and Seasonal Transitions
Custom Particles: To bring the environment to life, Bogaert created particle effects like falling leaves, butterflies, and snowflakes. These effects added a layer of dynamism and realism to the scene, enhancing the seasonal variations.
Foliage Shader: Inspired by Victoria Zavhorodnia’s tutorial, Bogaert developed a foliage shader with subsurface scattering, which added a stylized touch to the leaves and trees, aligning with the overall artistic direction.
Broader Reflections and Future Directions
Reflecting on Bogaert’s project, it’s clear that a structured approach combining various technologies can result in a cohesive and visually compelling environment. The use of UE5’s advanced features, paired with detailed material creation and effective particle systems, demonstrates how modern tools can be leveraged to create rich, interactive experiences.
Conclusion
Finn Bogaert’s Trainstation project serves as an inspiring example of what can be achieved with Unreal Engine 5 and other advanced tools. By combining meticulous planning, skillful use of technology, and a clear artistic vision, Bogaert created a dynamic and engaging environment. As I continue to develop my own projects, I look forward to applying the lessons learned from this case study to enhance my future work.

SNOWFLAKE GARTNER
Snowflake’s Ascent: A Look at Gartner’s Recognition
Snowflake has quickly established itself as a formidable force in cloud data warehousing. The company’s innovative approach, combining the flexibility of data lakes with the scalability of traditional data warehouses, has propelled it to the forefront of the industry. This meteoric rise hasn’t gone unnoticed, and Gartner, a leading research and advisory firm, has consistently recognized Snowflake’s strength in their Magic Quadrant for Data Management Solutions for Analytics.
What is the Gartner Magic Quadrant?
The Gartner Magic Quadrant is a prominent tool for evaluating technology vendors within a particular market. Companies are evaluated based on two primary axes:
Completeness of Vision: Gartner assesses how well a company understands current market trends and can anticipate future needs.
Ability to Execute: This focuses on product quality, marketing execution, customer experience, and overall business viability.
The Magic Quadrant divides vendors into four quadrants: leaders, Challengers, Visionaries, and Niche Players. Leaders excel in both completeness of vision and execution, demonstrating a clear grasp of the market and the ability to deliver effective solutions.
Snowflake: A Consistent Leader
Snowflake has consistently been positioned in the Leaders quadrant of the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Data Management Solutions for Analytics. This placement is a testament to the company’s:
Truly Cloud-Based Architecture: Snowflake was designed from the ground up for the cloud, leveraging cloud infrastructure’s inherent scalability and flexibility.
Separation of Storage and Compute: Snowflake allows you to scale storage and compute resources independently, ensuring that you only pay for what you use while providing exceptional performance.
Multi-Cloud Support: Snowflake’s presence on all major cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud Platform, and Microsoft Azure) allows organizations to maintain flexibility and avoid vendor lock-in.

I dont know a bunch, but I do pick up a bit now that my sister's moved out and asking for similar advice from the adults in the family.
Main one is budgeting. Figure out how much you currently have, how much u get per week, and how much you're spending and where. Take a month or two of regular spending to get your base numbers. Taylor Budgets has a good video explaining how to do a budget and also uses a cash stuffing method, which is basically money out of ur bank account and thats it. thats your spending money for that area, which makes it harder to overspend, then if youre just using your card for everything
youtube
Figure out if u have any subscriptions you forgot to cancel or for some reason just realized you're not using and get rid of those first.
See if you're over spending somewhere. I'm not taking about the nice shirt your spent a little extra on last month or that slightly more expensive almond milk you buy because you're severely lactose intolerance but the store brand tastes like crap damn it, I'm talking about you going to the mall every weekend to just browse and it turns out you've been walking out of hot topic every week with a new pair of socks. You need groceries every week. You do not need new socks every week.
See if you can make entertainment less expensive. Go to the library. the books are free, they usually have ac and sometimes have other things for lending, like video games, sewing machines and basic tools. Do you live with someone? see if they're willing to set up the communal tv with their Netflix account. use your sibling's Spotify account. cry when they kick you off for ruining their favorite marker back when u were four. my local movie theater sells tickets for 6.50 vs amc's 25. Curse the gods when you prick urself while darning your favorite pair of socks. beat bread dough for an hour. circle square pieces of fabric as you figure out how you want your quilt's arrangement (some people buy quilting fabric for their quilts. i cut up old clothes and use thread and a needle). decide whether or not the artist of the 1000 piece puzzle u bought deserves a slow death by your hand while trying to figure out the pieces' placement by the size of the snowflakes they painted. I can assure you there are cheaper ways out of boredom if u go out to look for them
thrifting!!! buying second hand is a great way to save money. if you live in a poorer neighborhood with no thrift store or a store that has no good things (low quality materials, things are stretched out, thin, patched badly, not your size ) and you have access to a train station, go to richer cities. I got a 3 dollar irish linen button down that actually fits. they were selling hardcovers and crystal glassware for 2 dollars. they have no idea what they're selling and all the rich people want to feel good by donating their unwanted things to these stores instead of throwing them out. take advantage
Want older/fancier things? estate sales. someone died. someone else wants to sell the house fast but doesn't want to pay to trash everything. sometimes you get old clothes, furniture, and movies. sometimes someone is desperate to get rid of heavy leather-bound books and their grandfather's collection of swords. usually things are cheap because the people selling want things gone more then they want to make a profit. estatesale.net is a good place to start looking to see if there are any around around your area. Colleges on move out day are great to get things for free
You can sell things!!! Used but still in good condition clothes can go to places like thread up. They sell second clothing and give you part of the cut. their second hand clothing isn't the cheapest, but percentage wise can save you a lot of money, especially on brand names. and you can send them stuff for free. for undergarments knickey is the best I've found. they recycle the fabric into insulation, and give u store credit. their stuff is ridiculously expensive, only for women and u have to pay shipping but what I've gotten so far from them is good quality and honestly better then nothing.
some places you regularly shop at have online websites and apps. look at them before buying something, but only check once you're already done inside the shop and ready to go pay. they usually have coupons and deals, so check quickly to make sure if they apply to anything in your cart before getting on the check out line. use coupons as a way to help you save money on what you're already going to buy, not to see if anything is on sale.
Finally for insurance, can't really help you. I'm convinced no one really knows what the fuck is going on. BUT ask around to see if a friend you have used to work in the industry and is willing to help out. The best video I've found is from Brian David Gilbert, who doesn't usually do videos like this but apparently already did the research while getting new insurance so might as well.
youtube
If I get better info I'll be sure to update. Good luck!!!
I'm looking to learn about financial literacy, does anyone have any pointers or suggestions on folks to get my information from?
There's a mega sea of info out there, but I would like to learn from people who aren't assholes or just total capitalists. Just :) nice people doing what they need to to survive In capitalism, who Wouldn't exploit me at the drop of a dime if they could. It's okay if that doesn't exist yet, but if it does I'd love to avoid having to comb through a million shitass "entrepreneurs" looking to be as rich as possible no matter what I just wanna learn how to live here
