#so Baslyn makes it to the U.S. but he can’t stop thinking about all the previous events#and he sees omens of his doom everywhere#and then somehow the man he murdered emerges from the water as though he swam to the U.S. after Baslyn#which I would assume was a hallucination if not for that little ending scene#where an uninvolved character talks about seeing Baslyn chased by the man#it’s interesting to me that Baslyn touches the blood pearls in his pocket and feels comforting by them#but is unnerved by the rubies on the clasp#that Baslyn is being hunted is because of what he did in order to obtain the blood pearls#but the man after him didn’t know why Baslyn did what he did or that he has the pearls#so while I assume that the supernatural-seeming chase is the result of the blood pearls being cursed#I don’t think that that’s actually being particularly emphasized so much as a more general karmic consequences of his actions#probably because Baslyn feels comforted by the pearls and haunted by everything else#it’s not getting the credit#dc#the blood pearls#my posts#comic panels#racist caricatures tw#racist stereotyping tw
