I don’t know if you can tell from this picture, but this sock is adorably tiny. Not quite baby tiny, but definitely little kid size. This pattern is going from this extra small width to an extra large and is completely customizable when it comes to length. I am officially calling it. This pattern is dropping Monday. I thought it would be helpful to give you some pointers on colorwork socks, in case this will be your 1st pair. If you’ve seen any of my sock patterns before, you might notice that I enjoy working the colorwork on the instep. There are a few reasons for this. For one, I can SEE the design when I have my shoes off & feet up relaxing at home. It’s no fun to have the design hidden under my pant leg. Another reason is that I find the fit works out nicely here. I didn’t bother to adjust my needle size when knitting the colorwork band (although you certainly could). Having the fit just a tiny bit snugger around the instep keeps my sock on nicely. That’s especially helpful in a short sock. To keep the knitting loose, I don’t catch my floats all that often. Maybe every 5th or 6th stitch. Another trick I’ve seen is to turn the sock inside out while knitting the colorwork - running all your floats along the outside of the work. It looks weird, but people swear by it. Lastly, I think it is most helpful to find yarns that are either all the same brand (or if it’s indie dyed, same base yarn) - the closer you can get to similar weigh and twist to the yarn, the easier it’s going to be to knit up into a colorwork pattern. Phew, I'm glad the heatwave is over, I spent yesterday hiding in my dark house with all the doors, windows and curtains closed. 😂 I am not built for heat. Look at this awesome sock! Made by @lisa_mazzitelli with my Truly Outrageous DK Sock Kit with the #viceversasock pattern by @hanksandneedles .....which comes free with my sock kits until the end of the year! 😍😮 . This is size 2 from the pattern....it used approx 1/4 of the main skein and half the pink mini...so lots left! . This Out of Rhythm Sock Pattern is available on Ravelry now, but I thought I’d tell you a little bit about my inspiration for the design. About 3-4 weeks ago, as I was trying to fall asleep, my heart started beating in a weird way. It didn’t hurt. It didn’t cause much alarm. The next day, the out of rhythm beating continued. Again, no pain and not really any alarming symptoms. Finally, six days later, after feeling the non-stop out of rhythm beats, I went to the emergency room. I was told I have Premature Ventricular Contractions, or PVCs. Not too scary and not dangerous, at this point. Fast forward to today. The out of rhythm beats have increased and I now have some accompanying symptoms. I am scheduled with a cardiologist later today to see what is up with this heart of mine. SO, to wrap all of this up, it was very important to me to get the Out of Rhythm Socks our to you before today and I succeeded!! It’s amazing where our inspiration comes from. While most might think that I was inspired by Valentines Day, that really was just a coincidence.
