requested by 🫧 anon | Life has been so stressy lately and I just know that Daddy Ari or Daddy Andy (or any Daddy you feel like writing!) would put together the perfect plan to wipe all the stressy thoughts from their little one’s brain. Daddy would make sure she feels all safe and little first, and then maybe tie her up to show her some new toys he got for her as he tells her that he’s going to use them to make all her stress go away. By the end, all she can do is come and squirt over and over and over again as daddy makes her make a big big mess.
an | ohh bestie i'm so glad you sent in a toy request, i have been craving a good toy fic and this was perfectly timed for blurb night!! hope it's alright with you that i chose ransom, i just love him and miss him and always think of him first when it comes to toys hehe <3 also?? this was supposed to be just a quick lil blurb but the adhd medication got me completely carried away..... hope you enjoy >:-)

"There you go baby— shhh," Ransom's voice is the softest, sweetest thing you've ever heard as his gentle fingers spread the yummy-scented cream all over your poor little button. Your legs twitch against the ropes holding you open and spread wide for your daddy. Though you're all tied up in quite a punishing position, this is not a disciplinary session. Instead, the restraints are simply there for your safety, for your comfort. Ransom knows this is exactly what you need after such a grueling week of school and work; all he wants to do is let his pretty baby's mind melt away to nothing as he rewards her endlessly for all the hard work she's been doing.
"Mmm... Daddy," you mumble. Ransom hums along with you as he rolls your tiny knot of nerves between his fingers, the effects of the special cream not taking long at all to be felt. "Th-thank you Daddy, feels so nice, feels—"
"Shhh— you're welcome, baby," the dark-haired man leans his head in to press a kiss against your forehead as he works your sensitive clit with his fingers. "You just let Daddy take care of you, hmm? Don't have to worry about a single thing, sunshine. Need to empty out that pretty little head of yours, s'not good for a tiny baby like you to be doin' so much thinkin'."
From the little pile of toys he has sitting next to you on the bed, he grabs your favorite pump next. It's a simple device with a round plastic cup for your clit, connected to a small bulb that allows your daddy to work the suction manually. As Ransom uses his fingers to spread you out gently, fitting the toy into its place, your toes curl in excitement. "Need to get your sweet little button all puffy and ready for Daddy to play with, right baby?" he smiles as he sucks your poor clit up with a squeeze, earning an eager nod from you as he wiggles the pump carefully, making sure the seal is air-tight.
"Bet that feels nice— huh, princess?" he croons knowingly as he grabs the next toy: your pretty pink plug, custom-made with genuine Swarovski crystals embedded in the base. "Don't worry, angel. Gonna get it nice and slick for you, make sure nothing hurts for my pretty little girl." Eyeing your dripping folds, he hums in approval. "Such a good girl, getting so messy for me already."
Your mind floats safely through your tiny headspace as Ransom preps the plug with plenty of lubricant, earning a quiet whimper from you as he begins rubbing the blunted tip up against your puckered hole. "Easy baby, shhh," he soothes you once more, bringing one hand up to tap against the hard plastic encasing your clit as the other begins working the plug into you. He releases the pump before squeezing it again and again at a quick, teasing pace, your poor puffy button getting sucked up over and over by the tool.
Your breaths deepen, heart thumping faster and faster as your clit pulsates in pleasure, the sensation of the plug stretching you out in your most sensitive of places bringing you closer and closer to the edge in little time at all. Attentive as always, Ransom senses your growing arousal with ease. "Good girl, that's my sweet little y/n. That feel nice, baby? You like it when Daddy plays with your clit and plugs up your pretty little bottom? Poor little girl— so tight, aren't you?" he mocks pity, the heat in your tummy growing as he slides the plug in and out of your burning hole, letting it stretch you out as far as it can without quite giving you the satisfaction of inserting it fully to sit nicely in its intended place.
"P-please Daddy," you pout, bottom lip trembling as he toys with your ass, letting out a gasp as he sucks your needy button up fully again before plunging two thick fingers into your neglected cunt. "O-oh Daddy... thank you Daddy, I— please, please Daddy..." Ransom grins at the sound of your increasing desperation. The first orgasm is always his favorite; he loves dragging it out, watching as it creeps up slowly, then before either of you know it, all at once.
"There you go, babygirl. Just needed this pretty little pussy filled up, huh?" he sings, the pads of his fingers curling up against your tender ceiling as you grit your teeth, tears building in your eyes as you pass the point of no return.
"Please Daddy, I-I'm gonna— please," you heave.
"Go ahead, baby," Ransom murmurs, giving you a knowing nod as he works his hands faster, bringing you right to orgasm at his simple command, "cum for me. Theere," he hums, a satisfied look washing over his face as he witnesses you coming completely undone before him.
Clenching down against the plug and your daddy's fingers, you completely let go, gushing steadily against his ministrations. Your climax is long, steady, and intense, pathetic whimpers sputtering out of you once you finally begin to drift back down to earth. Ransom carries you through it with care, working your most sensitive places as long as he can to give you as pleasurable of an orgasm as possible. Only when you're finally winding down does he slow, bringing his drenched fingers up to his lips to taste your sweet juices.
"So good for me, angel," his voice is low, tender as he finally pushes the plug in fully, watching as it nestles itself perfectly into place against your trembling rosebud. Free hand coming up to rub your tummy gently, he coos as it still spasms lightly from your euphoric high. "So proud of you, sweetheart. Did so well for Daddy, that feel good?"
"Mhmm," you hum, gazing at him through half-closed lids as you soak in the dreamy waves of pleasure still coursing through your veins. "So good, thank you Daddy," you mewl sweetly.
"You're so welcome, little one. Now let's see here," he muses, bringing his attention back up to your clit as it sits swollen in its clear cage. "Oh my," he breathes as he lets it out of the pump with a pop, the magic workings of the device and the cream visible as the little bundle of nerves now sits completely exposed and hardened, just begging to be loved on. "So puffy, baby. Look at you," he enthuses, placing a hand behind your head to bring it forward, forcing you to look at your poor, abused sex.
"S-so puffy," you agree, eyes widening as he reaches for the bottle of lube, gently dripping some down against the knot of flesh. The sensation of the cool liquid hitting your most sensitive spot brings tears to your eyes once more.
"Think I've bullied your poor little button enough, huh?" he frowns as he grabs a small, cordless wand from beside you— another favorite. "Think it deserves some relief. What do you say, princess?"
"Y-yes Daddy, please Daddy," you drool as you rest your head back against the pillows once more, the sound of the wand switching on already overwhelming you with anticipation.
Pressing three fingers into your messy heat this time, Ransom gives no warning before bringing the head of the wand down to begin working over your clit. You jolt at the intensity, earning a light chuckle from the dark-haired man as he begins pumping his digits in and out of you once more, singing, "There, that's what you needed, isn't it? Just needed Daddy to tie you down and let you cum? How long d'you think you'll last this time, sweetheart?" he wonders aloud.
But you're already teetering towards the edge again, the wand being swirled over your throbbing clit in slick, steady circles enough to make your mind go completely numb. And that's all Ransom wants; that's all he's wanted from the beginning: to reduce you down to nothing but whimpers and moans, a drippy, darling mess at the mercy of his skilled hands. "Please... please..." Your vocabulary is shrinking by the second as his fingers speed up against your burning walls.
"You don't have to beg, baby. You can cum, can cum as many times as you need. Daddy's gonna take care of you, sunshine," he promises as you reach your second high, tears and spit dribbling down your chin as you squirt out against your daddy's hands once more. He praises you softly and sweetly, letting you ride out your orgasm for as long as you can. Your juices crackle against the hum of the vibrator as you squeeze your eyes shut, heart pounding in your throat as you wait seconds, minutes, what feels like forever for the ripples of pleasure to finally subside.
"Hmmph... Daddy..." your own voice sounds miles away from you as you stay in your daze, head entirely somewhere else as you feel the wand being run up and down your soaked slit.
"Daddy's here, angel. Doin' so good for me— let's see if you can give me another one, hm?"

It was early Sunday morning when you dragged Ransom out of bed.
“Hugh Ransom Drysdale, come on. You have to get up. We’re already running late and I’m not dealing with disapproving looks from my parents for punctuality. It’s already bad enough every time the church ladies give me a side eye when I show up.”
He sighed as he rolled over in his high thread count sheets, the sunlight now hitting his face causing him to squint. He looked at you through one open eye as he made a light scowl.
“Sweetheart, come back to bed. It’s too early. I promise I’ll make it worth it.” A sly smirk crept onto his face as he reached out and pulled your hips closer to the bed.
You put a hand on his forehead, trying your best and failing to push him away. “Ransom, no. The only reason I stayed over was to make sure we got there on time. My parents think you’re picking me up right now and neither of us are even showered. If you get up now, maybe I’ll let you join me. Then we can get going.”
His arms snaked from your hips and around to give your ass a squeeze. “Hm….deal.” He rasped out in his groggy voice before shifting to get up.
“Whose idea was it to join your family at the 8am service of church this week, anyway?” Ransom threw the covers off the side of the bed in a mini tantrum before rising on his knees on the mattress to be face-to-face with you. You ran your fingers through his hair, slightly smoothing out the bed head before giving him a peck.
“Yours, baby. That’s what you get for trying to impress my mom.”
Tumblr media
You fixed your makeup in the mirror of Ransom’s Beamer and smoothed down your baby blue linen dress after Ransom parked in the church parking lot. You turned to look at him as you straightened the collar of his shirt that peeked over his sweater.
“You look absolutely dapper. The church ladies are gonna love you. Probably enough for them to keep their judgy eyes off me. Now let’s just hope they don’t start asking my mom about a wedding date.” You grumbled the last part as you brushed imaginary dust off his shoulders before leaning back towards your own seat again and placing your hand on the door handle.
Ransom didn’t move a muscle as he sat there, leaning over the center console, with a look as deep at the ocean. That was weird. You’d expected him to have his cocky game face on, which he did, but his eyes showed something different.
“What? Is something wrong? Do I not look okay? Are you regretting agreeing to come along today?”
He sighed and shook his head before holding out his hand for yours. “No, you look heavenly. I am regretting sleeping in because if I wouldn’t have, maybe you would’ve actually let me touch you in the shower. I thought a shower with you meant with you, but you tricked me, you minx.”
You softly smiled at the beginning of his statement, placing your hand in his. As he kept going, you rolled your eyes before playfully shoving his shoulder. “Oh please. You and I both know you wouldn’t have gotten up for anything else. And if I would’ve let you touch me, we’d still be at your place.”
He shrugged before pulling you closer for a final kiss before heading in. It was the kind that left you breathless and speechless, and a little dizzy when he pulled away, but that could have been due to skipping breakfast, too. Your eyes were still closed when he spoke against your lips. “Don’t think you’re getting away with this that easily, though. Now stay here while I get your door. Gotta make sure the church ladies see me treating you well.”
Your jaw dropped as he gave you a smirk, fire rising in his gaze as he slipped out of the driver’s side and over to yours.
Tumblr media
Ransom held your hand as he walked into the church, sliding into a pew near the back where your family had saved the two of you a seat. It was just in time for the service to begin. You were simultaneously filled with relief for not being late, but also anxiousness. You knew that when he held that look in his eye, Ransom was up to no good.
Tumblr media
If someone had asked you what you’d gathered from the sermon so far, your answer would be ‘jack shit.’ You were too focused on Ransom, and the way his hand was creeping up your leg as he stared straight ahead. He looked enthralled by whatever the preacher was dragging on and on about, but you knew better from the way his lips curled just slightly at the corners and his ringed pinky finger was sliding under the hem of your dress. The cool metal gave you chills. Your breath hitched, just as you were salivating, imagining what Ransom could possibly have in store for you. Unfortunately, that didn’t make for a good combination, as you choked on your own saliva.
You tried your hardest to hold in your coughs, eyes watering, until you couldn’t take it anymore. They burst out of you and the sound of your coughs, one after another, echoed through the nearly silent room as you scrambled to get up and into the hallway. Ransom shot your parents a sympathetic look before wordlessly gesturing that he was going to check up on you. They nodded in response, glad you had found someone so caring and responsible.
You burst through the doors at the back of the room with Ransom hot on your heels. You fast walked into the family restroom and Ransom slipped in behind you. He locked the door and made his way to your hunched over form, your arms bracing you against the sink as you continued coughing and heaving, trying to catch your breath. Ransom rubbed your back in soothing circles until you took a final gasp for air and looked up at his reflection in the mirror with a scowl.
“You did this. This is your fault, Mr. Handsy.” It came out with the slightest rasp. Ransom’s face morphed from slight concern into suggestion. Now that he had made sure you were okay, he was more than happy to have you exactly where he wanted you all along: alone.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about. I’m not the one out there snorting my spit. I could probably successfully swallow, unlike you.” He knew exactly what he was doing. He was trying to rile you up so you’d give in to him now since you didn’t earlier this morning. You’d never outwardly crumble that easily, though. Where was the fun in that?
“First off, you should be the one to know I’m great at swallowing. And secondly, if you believe you did nothing wrong, I think we should find you a neurologist for those wandering hands. Maybe the rings are causing nerve damage and cutting off the feeling in your fingertips.” Ransom couldn’t help but let out a small chortle at that. Good one, babe. But he knew what could push you a little farther. He knew how much you really did love the way his hands wandered, even if you’d say otherwise. He could tell right now even, as he shifted to stand behind you, soft fingertips tracing up the front of your thighs and under your flowy dress. His hand was in between your thighs, creeping dangerously close to your cotton panties. He used his grip to pull you back against him, eyes never leaving yours in the mirror.
“Oh honey, I don’t have to be able to feel my fingers to know how good they make you feel.” He ran his fingers over the dampening fabric as your breath hitched. Finally.
His grin grew wide as he slipped his pinky finger under the gusset of your panties and pulled it to the side, exposing your glistening folds to the cool air.
You hissed at the sensation as Ransom began running a finger through your wetness. If you were anywhere else but a church bathroom, he would have worked to pull even louder sounds from you than the tiny breaths and moans you were already making, but that’s not something that could be afforded right now. As his one hand continued to tease your entrance, the other moved to cover your mouth.
“Quiet, Sweetheart. You make a noise and I stop. Don’t want anyone to find out what’s going on in here.” You nodded in acknowledgment and Ransom was satisfied with that response, kissing your temple that was collecting a thin shimmer from sweat already. Just as he was about to dip a finger in, though, the two of you heard music start. That meant service was almost over. They would play a few songs, and then everyone would rush out the doors, making it impossible for the two of you to leave the bathroom undetected and unsuspected of what was going on right now.
Ransom didn’t waste a second, though, pulling his hands off you to unzip his slacks and pull them down just low enough. His eyes locked in on yours in the mirror again, deep blue irises thin around lust and mischief-blown pupils.
“Sorry, sweetie. Don’t have time to prepare you. But you can handle that, right?” You didn’t have a chance to reply this time, as his hand found it’s place over your mouth again at the same time he fully sheathed himself within you.
The little squeak you made into Ransom’s hand when you were trying to hold back was music to his ears. Oooo, he liked that. He was gonna make sure to do whatever he could in the future so you’d make it again, but he didn’t have the time for it right now.
His hand that wasn’t over your mouth snaked to your tummy from where it was gripping your hip. Ransom could just barely feel the bulge pushing against your softness with each thrust and it drove him wild, as he sped up his thrusts and babbled into your ear.
“Yeah you can. You can take it. Look at you. Taking this so well. Being so good for me. I’d say you were an angel if we weren’t fucking like two whores in church right now.”
His vulgar words always did something to you, causing your eyes to roll back and your pussy to clench. That was Ransom’s favorite, especially when he found it out that his sharp tongue was something you actually enjoyed and rewarded him for, instead of punished. Despite his hand on your mouth, you were still working hard to keep yourself quiet, only letting out a low moan in response.
“Fuck, so good. So, gah-tight. You’re so perfect. I’m gonna take my hand off, okay? You gotta keep it down and I promise I’ll make you feel good.” You gripped harder against the sink as Ransom removed his hand, using it to hike your leg up on the edge of the counter, his hand that was previously on your stomach moving to rub your clit.
You gasped for air, before moving your own hand to your mouth. If you were at home, moans and curses would’ve been profusely spilling out of your mouth with how near your were to the tipping point. Ransom’s grunts in your ear we’re pulling you even closer to the edge when he licked your neck, the sweet taste of your perfume mixed with salty sweat hitting his tongue, and the debauchery of the gesture tossing you over the edge of your orgasm. Your knee gave out as you came, Ransom’s strong arms holding you up against the sink as you felt him swell and release in you at the same time, still rubbing your clit and shallowly thrusting for both of you to come down from your highs.
“That’s it. That’s it, sweetheart.” His breath was hot against your neck, but you were both pulled out of the post-orgasmic bliss by the sound of the music changing. The last song of service was playing and within a few minutes, everyone would be emerging into the hall.
Ransom pulled out of you faster than he had before, both of you moaning with oversensitivity and the abruptness of the action. You gained composure on your jelly legs before pulling your panties back into place and doing your best to fix your makeup in the mirror. Luckily, the smudges could be attributed to your coughing fit earlier, but Ransom’s rogue hairs that had flown forward and stuck to his forehead couldn’t. You quickly pushed them back into a decent position and straightened his collar before rushing into the hallway and taking a seat at an old pew that was next to a table with water bottles and cookies on it, set out for the social hour that always happened after service. Ransom grabbed a bottle and quickly chugged it down halfway, handing it to you just as the last song was ending.
“Here, hunch forward like you’re still recovering. And take this.” He was too good at convincing people of the scenes they had walked into. But how could you complain when it had gotten you out of trouble with the cops more times than you could count? Including after the two of you had been parked somewhere a little too long having car sex, or when he had driven just a little too recklessly while fingering you in the passenger seat. He always knew exactly how to manipulate the scene in his favor, convincing others to not believe their own eyes, but the stories he presented them instead. But he didn’t do it to you, never to you. He learned that the hard way, it’s better to be honest and do it with you. You were his teammate, who better to use his skills for than the one he loved? Bring it up though, and he’d deny it.
So you and Ransom sat there, your elbows on your knees and him rubbing circles on your back with his large, warm palm. Sure, it was performative, but it was also extremely comforting and reassuring, especially with the way he just rocked your world in the bathroom.
The church-goers began to file out of the double doors and into the hall. You looked up through your eyelashes to be greeted by your parents. They looked at you with confusion and a hint of concern when your dad crouched in front of you and your mom sat next to Ransom.
“Everything alright?” Your dad looked up into your eyes and you managed a nod, taking a sip from the water bottle and clearing your throat.
“Yeah, sorry about that. Got into a coughing fit and couldn’t shake it. Much better now.”
Ransom heard the clarity with which you spoke. If he really wanted to be convincing, he should’ve had you suck him off. There wasn’t really the time for that, though. As much as he loved watching your lips wrapped around him, he came way faster inside you, and how could he allow for the evidence of scuffs on your knees when you were wearing such a pretty dress? Maybe next time, when you were in jeans.
Ransom was pulled out of his thoughts when your mom and dad spoke, thanking him for checking up on you.
“Oh no problem, don’t worry, I took good care of your girl. I always will.”
They smiled, and must’ve believed the scene in front of them, as the topic swiftly changed to what they wanted for brunch plans. Ransom met your gaze, giving a quick wink for only you to see before kissing the top of your head and giving his input to the conversation.
That was the last you saw of him for half an hour, though, as the church ladies descended, squeezing themselves between the two of you, oohing and ahhhing over your sly boyfriend. Every now and then, as they’d ask him a tidal wave of questions, his eyes would seek you, full of fire, secrecy, and love, paired with that signature smirk on his face.
Tumblr media
Bonus A/N: I think something that this extravaganza has taught me is that I have a thing for mirrors….and that scares me. It’s so hot in fics, and sure, every time I walk past a mirror in real life, I’ve been told I stop, but I wasn’t aware of what a dangerous combination that made until now. Lord save me, but he’s probably too angry at me now bc I wrote this.

“Alright, Ms. Sinclair, hop onto the table,” Ransom hates hearing your current last name.  It was the only thing that pained him about getting pregnant before you were married.  Hearing the doctor call you Ms. Sinclair, while baby Drysdale was swimming around in your belly.
“So, I know that you two have opted for a blood test to determine the sex of the baby, but let’s have a little look at your baby, shall we?” Ransom lowers his head next to yours.  Gazing up at the monitor while the doctor fishes around looking for the sweet bean, and you give his pretty cheek a kiss before looking with him.  Being able to view the baby, and that sweet man giggles.  Actually giggles.  Airy giggles at that.
Ransom gives your hand a little squeeze.  You are excited, but hearing, seeing, and feeling his excitement was even better.  “Alright, little one, show us what we want to see,” he taps on your belly a bit, getting frustrated with the lack of visibility, “You know, usually stubborn ones like this, and whose heartbeat is so fast, we have little girls.”
“Oh, a girl,” Ransom sighs, leaning in for a quick peck on your lips.
“Yes, but we’re going to get your blood drawn.  I’m not saying you’re having a girl for certain.”
“When,” you look up at your fiance, and then back at the doctor.  The wedding was days away, but this is something that was bothering you.  You look down at your stomach, and towards the doctor.  It was almost unfair that people couldn’t even tell you were pregnant.  If it wasn’t for the baby on the monitor, and the slight flutters you had been feeling you wouldn’t believe it.
“When am I going to, you know, where’s my belly?” The doctor huffs out a laugh, and points towards your bloated stomach.  That was it.  “No, this…this is about the size I was when I’ve eaten a whole carton of ice cream and a medium pizza alone.  I’m bloated.  It’s barely there.  I want a belly.  And when will Ransom be able to feel her?”
“You just called the baby her,” he looks between the two of you confused, “Please, don’t take what I said completely to heart.  Just because the baby won’t show us what we’re looking for doesn’t mean it’s a girl.”
“She’s been calling the baby a her.  But back to that part about me feeling her question.  I would very much like to feel my baby.  The lack of a bump, and no movement, makes me feel she’s not pregnant.”
“See!  I want a bump, and I want to feel her more than feeling gassy.  That’s it.  This is really a food baby, and I’m gassy, huh?”
“Except for the fact that the baby is literally in there.  You saw it up there, and it was turning somersaults.  Ms. Sinclair, every pregnancy is different.  And usually the first one takes time.  You’ve got a petite little baby, and when it’s time he or she will make themselves known.  And don’t you have a wedding?  Wouldn’t you hate to have to find a different dress because this baby decided to be seen?  Let me get the nurse in here.  He’ll take your blood, and we’ll determine what you’re having.  What I can say for certain, is they’re growing right on time.  There doesn’t appear to be any abnormalities, and you and Mr. Drysdale are doing everything right.  And eventually you will pop out.  And you will become uncomfortable because of it I’m sure.  Mr. Drysdale, soon you should feel your little fish in there.  Okay.  You two hang out.”
Leaving makes things feel like an eternity.  You were about to find out the sex of your baby.  You and Ransom were becoming a family at this very moment.  You were going to be able to give the peanut a name.  No more RJ or baby Drysdale.  He or she was going to be talked about as if they were a person.
You are nervous, but not even close to what Ransom is feeling, “I asked my parents if there’s any underlying issues in our family I wouldn't know about.  It was just some sinus issues.”
“What?” You smile, looking at him.  “What does that even mean?”
“I had my tonsils taken out when I was young, and sinus surgery.  I’m just so worried that I’m going to be the reason that something is wrong.  And…Buns, I can’t…I want our baby to be healthy.”
“She is,” he rolls his eyes, but still smiles.  Leaning in for a kiss, but you grab his hand to place on your belly.  “Or he.  They’re going to be fine, Ran.  And you best believe we’re going to make sure he or she is taken to the doctor regularly.  They’ll get their checkups to make sure they’re growing right on schedule, and that nothing is wrong.  Tonsils are nothing.”
“Speak for yourself.  That was torture.  But what if something is wrong?  If they have something wrong, it’s gonna be my fault, and…”
“Shh,” bringing his hand up to your mouth, pressing it on your lips, you begin to kiss over his knuckles, and press them up to your cheek.  He was already shaping up to be the sweetest dad.  So concerned for his baby, and already blaming himself.  “We made this baby.  And we’re not going to speak something into existence that isn’t there.  We’re also not going to blame ourselves.  This is our baby.  Hopefully our first.  And we’ve got to make sure that she is cared for and loved above all else.”
“You are calling our baby a her.”
“Because, it’s just what I feel.  I feel this sweet pea is our baby girl.  We may find out that she’s not a girl, but a boy, and I’ll still love him.  But I really think this angel baby is our baby girl.”
“Yeah, yeah.  This day is going to be so long waiting to find out.”
“While the baby is growing, Ran, we shouldn’t worry as much as you are.  Let’s just breathe.  We’ll know soon enough what we’re having.”

“Wait, stop!” Ransom throws his hand out in front of the doctor, eyes wide, and you hold in a snort.  He had warned you he was going to do this, but him actually doing it tickles you, “Can you just for the sake of this moment call us, Mr. And Mrs. Drysdale?  It’s happening this weekend.  I’m making it official.  I just don’t want you to tell us what we’re having as Mr. Drysdale and Ms. Sinclair.  It’s insulting.  Please.  Just this once.”
My goodness, he was adorable.  Didn’t want this moment marred by your maiden name.  He wanted the moment you found out about your baby’s sex to be with mama and daddy Drysdale.  He wasn’t lying.  He was making it official in less than forty-eight hours.  You were cutting it close.  Wanting to spend your honeymoon with your husband being able to buy cute outfits for your child.
“Okay.  Mr. And Mrs. Drysdale, keep in mind this test is anywhere from ninety-eighty to ninety-nine percent accurate.  Are you ready to find out what you’re having?” With Ransom behind you, and both hands on your belly, with yours on top of his, you give the doctor a nod of your head.  Sucking in your breath slowly.  “You two are going to have a baby girl.”
The sound that escapes your mouth as you turn around to hug Ransom was that of pure joy.  A stutter cry of shock and happiness when you hug him.  You were getting your little Ransom junior that was going to be the sweetest little angel girl.
Burying your face into his neck, you cry.  Digging your fingers into his back as you and him celebrate.  Just as it should, together.  Just the two of you.  Three.  “I’m going to leave you two, alone,” he steps out of the waiting room, and Ransom holds you even tighter.
“Bunny?  Buns, are you happy?”
“Ran, we’re having our baby girl.  Yes, I’m so happy.  Oh my god, oh our sweet little peanut.  Oh hey, darling,” pulling away from Ransom, you hold onto your belly, looking down at the little bump of your stomach.  “Hey.  Ransom, this is our baby in there.  Our sweet girl.”
“And boy, I’m going to spoil her so much.  Hi, baby,” he says to your belly, squatting down, he pulls up your shirt, giving the swell a kiss.  “We have waited for so long for you.  And now we know that you’re going to be our little sunflower.  Your daddy is going to have you dressed in the cutest little dresses and sweaters.  Your mama is going to look at you all the time.  Oh,” he looks up at you. Tears blurring his bright blue eyes.
“She’s ours, Buns.  This…oh, this sweet thing is our little bitty baby bunny.  Oh my goodness.  I can’t even process anything because we’re getting our girl.  And sweetheart, if you were a boy I would be just as happy.  Have you been talking to your mama, and telling her what you were.  She’s been calling you a girl for three weeks now.  Okay…she’s going to paint the mountains in your room.  Your mama is going to hide a little girl somewhere in there, and it’s going to be you.  Maybe she can paint me and her, too.  Bunny?  Babe, why are you crying.”
“Because you’re so sweet,” sniffling as you wipe your face.  This was all that you had ever wanted.  A man that was your partner, but also shared in your wants.  You never saw Ransom the way he is now.  Not with that first meeting.  You are glad that first impressions aren't everything.  “How did I get so lucky to have you as my baby daddy.”
“Wait.  No, no.  I’m the husband.”
“And you love her so much already.  And I can’t even take how sweet this is, and I want to see you talk to the belly everyday, and I want you to feel her kick.  It’s not fair.  You love her so much, and you can’t even feel her, or feel when she hiccups.  Ran, I want you to feel everything, and…”
“Shh,” he stands up, pulling you into his embrace.  “Buns, I’m fine.  I’ll feel her when she’s ready for me to.  She’s a tiny little thing and can’t stretch out enough to kick your belly.”
“But I want you to feel her now,” you know how silly this is.  But it was so emotional, that you couldn’t help but to feel frustrated, and it didn’t even bother Ransom as much as it is you.  “You’re her daddy.”
“And when I feel her, I’ll still be her daddy.  Sweetheart, your mama’s hormones are crazy, and I make her crazy, but she’ll be fine,” you pout at his tender words.  His hand pushes up against the belly again as he starts another conversation.  “We sure had fun making you.  Fucking your mama everywhere.  She was insatiable.”
“Hugh Ransom Drysdale!”
“I’d come home, and her pretty little pussy was wet and ready for me to stuff her full.  I think that’s actually how you were conceived, up on the counter.”
“Ransom!”
“She had her naked self up there, legs spread so wide, and she was dripping onto the counter.”
“You better stop!”
“It got you to stop crying though.  I’ll do it again.  Just to see you smile,” he kisses on your forehead, and all the way down to your mouth.  Committing this day to his memory.  Every bit of it.  Right down to the smell of your perfume that lingered on his skin.
Tumblr media
“Bunny?” Ransom gives you a tap on your arm, but you curl more into his warmth.  You are exhausted.  This honeymoon was spent with Ransom keeping you well stuffed and exhausted.  “Bunny, wake up.”
“Mmm,” you whine.  It wasn’t even light outside.  Why was this man waking you up?  “Stop.  I’m tired.  You kept me up all night long.”
“You know, I didn’t hear you complaining when I had your legs pinned to the bed.  But fine.  I won’t tell you what I know,” he stubs up.  Sticking his nose up in the air, and crossing his arms over his chest, and leans back on the bed.  This week has been amazing.  Even if most of the week was spent in the room being entwined with your husband.
“Won’t tell you anything.  Not one little thing.”
“Shh,” finding your way closer to him, you nuzzle up against his side.  Sighing at the faint scent of his cologne.  He smelled like you, sweat, and Dior.
“Nope.  Can’t drag it out of me.  No way, no how.”
“Ugh,” you sit up, playfully glaring at him.  “Go on.  Tell me what it is that you know.”
“Nope.  I told you I wouldn’t,” rolling your eyes, you start to slide your naked body back down on the bed, but Ransom lays his hand on your stomach, and you look down at your favorite piece of jewelry he owned, his wedding band.  You gasp when you see his fingers splay out on your belly, and he gives it a few pulses.  “Won’t tell you anything at all.”
“Where did that come from?  Oh my god!  Hey, little one,” your hand rubs over your belly, and you give your baby’s waterbed a smile.  “Look at you.  Did you finally decide to tell daddy hey?”  It wasn’t much, but it was a bump.  No longer did you look like you were housing a food baby, but instead, you finally looked pregnant.
“Ransom!  Oh my god.  Hey,” looking up at him, you both smile with waterfalls of tears streaming down your face.  “Did you feel that?”
“She’s been doing that all morning.  Woke me up, didn’t you, sunflower?  I was sleeping, and minding my business, and her chubby little foot kicked daddy’s hand, and I woke up, and looked, and there she was.  Were you hiding behind mama’s bladder or something?”
“We really need to think about her name.”
“Sunflower.”
“No.  No, we’re not naming her sunflower.  You can call her that, but I want her to have a name,” Ransom shrugs, and looks back down at the bump.  His hand wanders over the belly, stopping when he feels her movements again.  He was obsessed.  He was never going to let you go again.
While he’s watching his daughter, you stare at him.  He was the perfect choice for a life partner, but you could not have been ready for how good of a father he was going to be.  You could already see how his hand was always going to need to touch the bump.  But even the way he was so soft and gentle, and he talked to your belly.
“Your mama won’t let us officially name you sunflower.  So I’m going to say the alphabet, and when you like that letter, you kick your daddy’s hand, okay?” He starts to say the alphabet slowly.  Pausing on certain letters longer than others.  His hand drifts over your belly searching for the peanut.
“L.  M.  N.  Are you asleep?  I will go back through this alphabet if you don’t kick.  O, I really like the name Ophelia.  Okay.  No.  P.  You have got to be kidding,” giggles erupt out of your mouth as the baby P starts to twist around in your stomach.  “P?  P?  This is going to be the first obstacle, sunflower.   I don’t even know any P names, and this is what you want to stop on.  Let’s try again.  Q.  Oh thank goodness.  R,” his eyes close, and he peaks at your belly.  She was a sleeping beauty again.
Finishing the alphabet, and starting over, he randomly says P out of place.  “What is this child?  Sunflower, you’re being a smarty pants.  Bunny, she’s moving on P again.”
“Well, I think P is going to be the first letter of her name then.  There’s Penelope, Penny, Piper, Prue, Phoebe, Paige.”
“Did you just say the Haliwell sisters names, and add in a Penelope and a Penny?  No.  Our daughter is not being named after a television show.  Go on, say some more P names.”
“Parker, Pippa, Payson, Peyton,” you sigh because there was one name you really loved.  Ransom wasn’t liking any of these, and you both had to love her name.  The thought of him not liking a name that had been on your list for a few years, even before Frank, hurt to think about.  “Paisley.”
“Oh!” He shouts, leaning over your belly.  Pressing his lips against the stretched skin.  “She is moving so much.  Paisley, are you going to be a demanding little thing?  Oh, Buns, she loves the name almost as much as I do.  Paisley Ransom Drysdale, you are going to rule the mountain.  You are going to command Bucky.  The only one keeping you in line is going to be Gucci, huh?  Paisley, I know.  I know.  We all agree that this is the sweetest name.  And no, I totally didn’t look at your mama’s baby name list on her phone and see a star beside Paisley.”
“Ran,” he was too sweet.  “Did you really look at my baby name list?”
“Yep, and I added a little part at the bottom that I titled Ransom’s list.  I put down the names I really liked, and added a few of my own.  So we have us a Paisley Ransom?”
If it wasn’t for you and Ransom in agreement, it was Paisley herself swimming in her ocean and telling you she loved the name just as much.  “Paisley, daddy is going to spoil you, but I also think uncle Bucky is going to spoil his chicken butt, too.”
Tumblr media
“A girl, hmm,” Bucky slings a bale of hay out of the barn, and goes to stand beside Ransom.  He couldn’t keep his eyes off your home.  To say that things went from blissful to a torturous and sick pregnancy once you returned would be a lie.  Why did you have to be the woman that was sick in the third trimester?
“What are you going to do with this tiny little Bunny running between my house and yours?”
“Uh, no.  I will be carrying her everywhere.”
“I’m talking about when she can walk.”
“So was I,” Ransom deadpans.  What a silly notion that Paisley was going to walk to get around.  Ransom had intentions of keeping her held and treated like a princess.
“How is she doing?  Still sick?” Your sickness was worrisome to Ransom and Harlan.  Harlan claimed that you shouldn’t be this sick this far along.  He felt like he had become a nurse when all you could do was be nauseous and sleep.  “My mom, she has this remedy she took with my youngest half sister.”
“No, you know Bunny, she’s going to power through this.  I have offered everything.  But she’s not dehydrated, Paisley is growing perfectly fine, and Miss Gucci makes sure to keep her entertained and moving.  Thanks, but you know how she is,” Bucky nods his head, starting to head back up to the hayloft, and Ransom looks up at him.  “What are you doing?”
“Uh, getting the stables ready.  Bunny approved goats.”
“We don’t need goats.”
“Umm…they’re cute.  You better watch your wife, she wants a donkey.  She’ll have this little petting zoo for your children.  Don’t get angry.  You love that woman, and your children are going to grow up seeing life in other animals.  They'll have compassion, and learn to care for things.  Having animals is a good thing.  And she always told you she wanted a ranch and farm.  Goats will be in the and farm part.  And I’ll teach Paisley how to care for everything.  And quit pouting!  You are always the daddy.  I am the uncle, and she is the chicken butt.  Which by the way,” he hauls the last bale of hay down, and walks back down to Ransom, pointing out a spot close to the barn.
“Your wife wants the chicken coup and chicken run to go there.  Gotta keep her girls safe.  You should see some of the chickens she wants.  You’re going to have so many eggs, with different sizes and colors.  That sweet little girl is going to be going right over there with her designer corgis, and gather the eggs for the day.  You know, for a city slicker that everyone think is nothing but a pretty face, you’re adjusting well to this life.”
“Ehh, I think well is an overstatement.  But the idea of getting my Bunny and my baby, and the only family I like here, it’s worth it.  Plus, the view at night.  This seriously is a piece of heaven and paradise.  Quiet.  Anyways, I guess get the goats and donkeys.  Save the sheep for when Paisley can ask for them.  Whatever chickens that she wants, get them, and you trust Steve with building all this?”
“He’s smarter than he looks.  He’s more than just a dick on legs believe it or not.  Very high sex drive, but sharp as a tack.  You know he actually has a college degree in architecture?  He’s designing this chicken house.  Tend to your baby mama,” Ransom lets out a guttural growl as he shoots an angry look towards Bucky.  He hated the baby daddy and baby mama term.  “She married you.  Look at it as a term of endearment.  A term she can’t say about anyone else.”
“You’re right,” he puffs up his chest a bit.  “We wanted a baby, we made a baby, and now we’re getting a Paisley.  And hopefully she’s not a thorn in her mother’s side when she’s born.”
“Oh, if she’s anything like you, then yes, the chicken butt is going to be a thorn in all our sides.  She’s going to have this sweet little face, but she is going to mean business.  Go tend to her mother.  I’m ready for Paisley to keep you from asking too many questions.  Especially about the ducks.”
“No ducks!” Ransom screams as he starts to jump onto the side by side to head back to the house.
“If Paisley wants ducks she gets ducks!”
“Paisley can not talk.  Ransom can.  No ducks!”
“Uh huh,” Bucky starts as Ransom drives away.  “Paisley told me yesterday that her wanted duckies.”
Tumblr media
You exhale slowly, pressing a hand over your swollen belly, and look up at your husband with fearful eyes, “It’s time,” you tremble out, but he is every bit the calm man he always is.  Confidently reaching for your hand he leads you towards the front door, “Ran, I’m scared.”
“I’m not.  Our little Paisley sunflower is finally making her debut.  You’ve got this, and I will be right by your side.  You’re going to be amazing.”
“I’m not ready.  Can we…can we just stop time right now,” you know how ridiculous you are being.  But there was a literal human about to be pushed out of your body.  Life was going to change.  “Please?  You always make things happen.”
“Sweetheart, I can’t make this happen, even if I wanted to, and I don’t.  I am ready to see you hold our precious little baby girl.  To see you take on another role in our lives.  I’m ready to see your parents, Harlan, Bucky, and I’m sure Steve fawn over this little baby that we created.  We wanted this, and we made this happen.  Now, get your cute little waddling self in the car.  I really don’t want to deliver a baby today.”
Your eyes open up wide in shock as you stare at him.  You are wasting time.  Things can happen slow, but also just as fast, and you could deliver your child in the car.  “I’m only joking.”
“Ransom, let’s go.  I do not need my insides on the floorboard of my car.”
Tumblr media
The nurse lays your baby on your chest, and time stands still.  You had wanted and hoped for this little angel that is staring up at you all confused.  “Oh, hey, baby.  Look at you, Paisley Ransom.  You have your daddy’s lips.  Ran, look it.  Oh my goodness, Paisley meet the man that talks to you every night.  You’re going to have to call him daddy though.”
“She’s so small,” Ransom’s thick fingers wipe the steady cascade of tears coming down his face as he gazes at his sweet little angel.  “You’re going to be daddy’s shadow, huh?  I’m not going to be able to let you out of my sight.  Oh, honey.  She’s absolutely perfect.”
“Wait,” your voice panics as her eyes slowly close.  Her back refuses to rise and fall with her breathing.  “Ran!  No, no,” hands from faceless people reach and take that bundle of joy off your chest.  “What’s happening?  Ransom?”
Ransom stares horrified as nurses hustle around your baby, while you are a puddle.  Crying and reaching for her.  Needing answers of anything, and you get nothing.  Almost as if a light switch is flipped on, Ransom goes into action.  Holding onto your hand tightly, “You will tell us what is going on with our daughter.  Tell us now.”
“Mr. Drysdale, your wife still has the after birth.”
“And our daughter has got machines being hooked up to her as we speak.  Where…where are they taking her?”
“To a doctor.  My job currently is your wife.”
“But I need to know what is going on right now!  You tell me what is happening.”
“While I can’t be sure, things like this aren't uncommon.  They’re going to check her over.  If there was a true concern they would be coming over immediately.  I assure you, your daughter has the best care here.  Let them take care of her, while I take care of your wife.  When there is something to report about your daughter we will.  Please, stay calm.”
Calm was not at all how you are feeling.  Scared.  Terrified.  Empty.  Lost.  None of your emotions are calm.  Ransom turns to look at you, keeping his eyes only on yours, and you follow suit.  Copying his breathing, but still you felt scared.  Terrified.  Empty.  Lost.  You want your baby.  Need to know if she was okay, and what was going on.  You need to see her sweet face again.
Tumblr media
Mr. And Mrs. Drysdale,” a new doctor walks in, without your baby.  Breathing is usually an involuntary thing, but since Paisley was born, you had to physically think about it.  “Paisley is just fine.”
“So where is she?” This woman was coming in here to tell you that Paisley was fine, but she came without Paisley.  You need to hold her.  Ransom still hadn’t got to hold her.  “Where’s my baby?”
“Mrs. Drysdale, she is fine.  There were a few complications.”
“Like what?  You tell me that our daughter is fine, but that there’s complications, and…”
“Mr. Drysdale, let me finish, please.  She is fine.  We are going to wheel you into NICU.  She’s being monitored.  There is a slight heart defect, but as of right now we do not think there will be a need for surgery or medicine.  She will need to be monitored.”
“Why…but why did my baby stop breathing?  She was laying on me, and just…Ransom she just stopped, and,” you words run off into tears, and Ransom grips your hand even tighter.  Fearful that he was the cause of this defect.
“That had nothing to do with her heart.  While our body’s have the ability to adjust from being in utero to being outside, it doesn’t always happen.  So far, other than her heart that I think she will just need some monitoring with for the next couple of days, she’s healthy.  She wants to see her mom and dad.  Would you two like to see your baby with less dramatics than you have seen today?  I promise, she is a healthy baby.”
“Please,” you whimper, throwing the blanket off your legs.  You are beyond ready to be reunited with her.  Ransom doesn’t miss a moment to help you out of the bed.  Assisting you to a wheelchair as you’re taken to Paisley.  Seeing her in an incubator makes you gasp, “Do I…can we hold her?”
“Of course.  Wash your hands.”
“So, how will we know if she’s going to need surgery or medicine?  She’s just so tiny,” the doctor runs through a few scenarios with you.  Letting you know that she is being heavily monitored currently.  That doctor’s visits may be more frequent for her, but you don’t care.  Paisley being a happy baby is what you care about.
“Oh, hey, Paisley,” you coo as a nurse places her in your arms.  She swishes around, and moves even closer to your chest.  Squeaking with every move she makes.  “You are the most beautiful thing I have ever seen in my life.  Ran, she’s perfect.  I mean, minus your wee little heart.  It’s because you felt so much love from everyone, huh?  You want to hold her?”
“I want you to right now.”
“Paisley, you’re daddy is being very generous, but I know that he wants to touch and hold you so much right now.  Ransom, sit down.  Hold your baby,” sitting down beside you, you extend the tiny sunflower over to him.  Waiting until he gets comfortable holding her before you settle back.  Watching him more than her.  How he is so serene staring at her.  His forefinger pets around his face, and still more tears.
“You are a pretty little thing.  But I didn’t expect anything less with who you have as a mama.  Paisley, you don’t get to scare daddy like that, okay?  You’ve got to be okay so you can run around the property.  Your mama has gotten you so many animals.  Uncle Bucky has these two annoying goats that he can’t stand.  But I need you to be okay.  You’re so strong, sweetheart.  And we’ve got to take you home, and love on you.  Grandpa is so excited.  He misses your mama, too.  Bunny, this is our baby.”
“I know,” you whisper, wiping his cheeks free of tears.  This is the most handsome you have ever seen him.  Completely vulnerable, loving, soft and tender.  Becoming the sweetest and most protective father in an instant.  But how he was holding onto her like she was the most precious thing in his life.
A younger you would have been jealous that your husband was getting a new lady in his life, but if you were sharing Ransom’s attention with this angel, it was worth it.  He pets over her sweet little fingers, looking up at you with a bright smile, “We made her.”
“I know.  Daddy, that's your baby girl.”
“You hear that, Paisley?  Mama says that you are mine.  I didn’t think I could love someone like I do your mom, but this — Bunny, I love her so much and immediately.  How did I get so lucky for two people in my life?  Bunny?” He gives you a pout, his bottom lip trembling, “I’m not even letting you hold her.”
“You keep holding her.  When she gets hungry, I’ll hold her.  I like watching you become a dad.  This is my favorite I’ve ever seen you.  Paisley Ransom, you have your big scary dad wrapped so tightly around that tiny little pinky finger of yours.  Look at him.  He can’t even stop looking at you for long.”
“I love her.  And I love you.  And you promise that I didn’t do this?”
“No.  You would never do anything to hurt our baby, and she’s going to be just fine.  Okay?”
Tumblr media
“So far her heart seems to be working just fine.  We’ll still keep an eye on it.  And her constant stuffy nose.  If this persists we may go through with an allergy test.  Have you noticed any changes in your diet?” Paisley’s pediatrician tries to get her attention again.  Smiling and waving at your daughter who doesn’t react until a loud noise is made.
“Yes, we’re doing the elimination diet for me.  She doesn’t like when mommy eats shrimp or green beans, do you?” Paisley looks around the room, blowing bubbles, until you click your tongue, and she averts her gaze right up to you.
“And you’re sure this is going to make a difference?” Ransom asks, as the doctor gets closer to the two of you.  “She…it’s like our baby isn’t even a year old and it’s always something.  Could you not move so fast towards her.”
“Ran, she’s here to help.”
“Paisley,” the doctor calls her name, and Paisley’s head turns towards her quickly.  Blinking her eyes heavily.  “She’s smart, and her hearing is perfect.  But let’s just try this right here,” slipping on the cutest tiny little pink glasses, Paisley opens her eyes as wide as possible and looks up at you.
Staring long and hard towards you before the biggest two teeth smile appears on her face, “Oh god, baby.  Oh, my Paisley,” her chubby hand reaches towards your face, touching all over it before giggling.  “Can you finally see mama?  Ransom, say something.”
“Paisley?” Her head flits towards Ransom’s so fast, and her giggles get even louder.  Making grabby hands towards him.  Her mouth is opening and closing, not saying anything, but she wants her daddy.  “Come here, sweet sunflower.  Look at you.  Do you finally see daddy?” Her eyes blink several times looking at Ransom before glancing around the room.  “Our sweet baby just couldn’t see, huh?  You going to discover every little thing now?”
“Dadadadadadada,” Paisley squeals suddenly.  Slapping hand on Ransom’s cheek, and pulls herself closer for one of her messy kisses she reserves just for him.
“Looks like the glasses have done the trick.  I think you’re going to have a much happier baby now that she can see.  Since she’s mobile, she should become more so.  No more knocking into things, Paisley.  And you two are doing a great job.  You’re giving her the best life you can, and you’re taking care of her.  Noticing that there are some things that just aren’t right.  Don’t be so hard on yourself.  She’s happy.  And that’s what all people want for their children.  Ransom, remember, this isn’t your fault.  That baby isn’t blaming you.”
You whisper thanks to the pediatrician.  Ransom still had yet to forgive himself for Paisley’s health.  Forgetting how happy she was, and how she was always searching for his voice.  Paisley adored her dad.  And if it wasn’t for pesky things getting in her eyesight and vision, she would be able to crawl to him much faster.
Placing her chunky hand over his mouth, she waits for him to give her dozens of kisses, and turns towards you smiling.  “Okay, Paisley, you ready to see Uncle Bucky?  You got to show off your new look.  I think he’s going to love your pretty new glasses.  And Gucci,” she squeals, turning to look at you.  Giving her hands a little clap.  “You wanna go see Bucky and Gucci?”
“Uh!”  Making the sweetest little motions towards you, she bounces in Ransom’s arms.
“She’s going to be very curious for a while.  She’s seeing everything in a new light.  Be patient with her as she learns her surroundings again.”
“Gucci typically stays right with her, huh, Paisley.  And Grandpa.  Yeah, she’s got so many people watching her, and making sure she doesn’t run into things.  Now you won’t have to worry about that, huh?  You’re going to see everything.”
Tumblr media
“Look at that beautiful princess,” Harlan announces, standing up to meet you two at the door.  “Paisley Ransom, you are more beautiful now than when you left.  Look at how big you’re smiling.”
“You men have got to stop.  Ransom can’t stop crying, and here you are tearing up.  Paisley, tell Grandpa that you can see everyone you love now, and that’s why you’re smiling and giggling so much.  And…” the front door opens, and the paws of a corgi that is trying to get traction on the hardwood floor comes bustling into the room with all of you.
“Ahh!” Paisley screams, looking down at Gucci and clearly seeing her for the first time.  “Ahh!” It was like seeing her fluffy guard dog truly the way she was meant to, and it was the best thing in the world.
“I hear my sweet angel!” She bounces in your arms hearing Bucky’s voice finally, and when he comes into the living room with all of you, she screams again.  “Oh my goodness.  Does she see me now?”
“Yes.  Don’t you dare, Bucky Barnes, you quit this right now,” he can’t.  He doesn’t even try to pretend that he’s not crying.  Just continues on his merry way.  Walking closer to you, and extends his hands for Paisley.
“You don’t even have to hear my voice.  You know it’s me now, huh?  Oh my goodness.  Paisie, you quit smiling and reaching towards me.  Gimme this baby,” the fit of laughter that Paisley goes into as Bucky pulls her into his arm, blowing raspberries on her neck.  “Oh she’s so cute I could just…GOBBLE HER ALL UP!  Nom nom nom,” he playfully bites at her chunky self.
“Bucky, we need to find you a woman, so you can have one of these of your own.”
“Nope.  None will ever be this cute, and giggly, and smushy, and she’s biting my cheek.”
“Well, you bite hers,” he is adorable with her.  It was different seeing Bucky with Paisley, because you knew Bucky had the potential to be just like Ransom.  Completely soft for a partner and child.  “Paisley, don’t you hurt Bucky.  He is going to buy you a turkey.”
“No turkey!” Ransom gives you a shout, pulling you into him.  “No turkey.  No turkeys.  No peacock or whatever silly little animal you decide you’re going to add down there.  And that wasn’t an idea, Buns.  I did not give you an idea to run with.  You quit looking like you’re ready to order a damn peacock.”
“I do miss not having the menagerie of animals here,” Harlan muses.
“Then we’ll get fake animals again.”
“Ran, you don’t even tend to the animals.  Imagine Paisley and Gucci being followed by a peacock.”
“No peacock!  Bucky, don’t you dare order a peacock.”
“I am not included in this conversation because I can’t say no to Paisley.”
“She doesn’t even talk.  She literally just was able to see today.  No more fowls.  We have chickens.”
“And the cutest little chicken butt for Uncle Buck Buck.”

“Come on, we don’t have all day.” That’s what Ransom says but when you turn at his tugging, he has a small smile and endless fondness in his eyes.
Against the red velvet walls of the Baroque Gallery, he is a marblesque figure, a single dark lock of hair rakishly crossing his forehead; one that you pulled from its gelled confines before you left the hotel this morning.
“Aww, but I’m admiring the art,” grinning, you hold up both hands, extended fingers as your mock picture frame, “Are you a classical masterwork-” “Stop, do not finish that-” “-cause I’d like to pin you against the wall.”
He grabs you by the waist, tugging you closer, looking furtively over his shoulder for any bystanders or stragglers from your tour group as you laugh and laugh, hidden in his long coat.
His “shut up” is faint enough and breathy enough that you forgive him instantly and tilt your head, his thumb on your chin guiding you up to meet his lips.
Your guide’s face is a neat puce when you two finally rejoin the group, hand-in-hand and looking a little worse for wear. His vigorous accented rant about respecting “le Musée” is overshadowed by the tittering of old ladies eyeing Ransom’s red-stained cheeks and the pulse of your heart still throbbing.

heheheheheheheheh 😏💕 i enjoy making fictional guys flustered 🫶🏻 they'll have a lovely rest of their day, eating all the good food and kissing in their hotel room

It was about fifteen minutes until closing time and you were helping a man at the counter pick out candies for his daughter. He had told you he wanted to reward her for how hard she’d been working at school so when he saw your shop he had to pop in to grab some sweets. His story had warmed your heart and you were happily wrapping up his choices in a cute little box, finally able to relax after such a tedious day. Unfortunately, all that was ruined when Ransom busted through the door.
“Hey, sugarplum!” Ransom greeted as he sauntered up to the counter like he owned the place. You ignored his dramatic entrance as you rang up the proud father at the register.
Ransom eyed the man warily, noticing how he peaked down your blouse when you leaned forward to hand him the box of sweets. Ransom’s jaw tightened and he glared daggers into the back of the asshole’s head as he walked out the door. As soon as the bell chimed when the door shut, he started in on the prying questions.
“He a regular?” Ransom nodded his head towards the exit.
“Not that it’s any of your business, but no, first timer. Hopefully, he will be though,” you stated blandly as you began counting up the money in the register.
“Why do you say that, sugarplum? Did you think he was cute?” His voice had a teasing lilt to it, but his eyes zeroed in on you. He analyzed your posture and movements, trying to find any hint that you were interested in that douche.
You rolled your eyes and got back to adding up the day’s earnings. You didn’t have time for Ransom’s needling remarks today. It had already been a stressful enough day without him piling on.
Ransom didn’t take your brush off personally. After years of kinda-friendship, he didn’t take your rolling eyes and silent treatment to heart. In fact, it was fun getting on your nerves sometimes. If he was honest, as long as he got your attention, it was a success in his eyes. All he really wanted was your time, was that too much to ask? And the fact that your luscious curves and cold shoulder set his insides aflame had only a tiny bit to do with it.
“Come on, sugarplum, you know I’m just teasing. We both know you’ll never find anyone half as good as me.” He puffed up his chest, a smug smirk playing on his lips.
You scoffed, “Wouldn’t you like to think so, Ransom? You know, our conversations are always pretty one-sided. For all you know, I’m in a happy relationship and living a blessed life without your annoying presence constantly popping up out of nowhere.”
Ransom didn’t laugh at that. The lazy smile he always sported dropped. He wiped his chin and glanced at the floor as he tried to hide his inner jealousy. He knew you were joking, but your words struck a cord. He moved to the end of the counter and lifted up the divider.
“Ransom, you know you’re not allowed back here, especially without a hairnet,” you chided, finally pulling your focus away from taking inventory. When you looked up and saw his unamused expression, you faltered. It wasn’t often he stared at you like that.
“You got some secret lover I don’t know about, sugarplum?”
Your eye twitched at the irritating nickname. He’d started calling you that when you opened your shop. You didn’t miss the not-so-subtle dig at your rounded figure. It irked you even more coming from a man who looked like a Greek god. He acted like one too-rakish, spoiled, and full of himself.
His pace as he edged towards you was slow and casual, but there was something in the way he purposefully placed every step and the tick in his jaw that warned you to be on high alert.
That was another thing he had in common with mythological gods-he was volatile. No, he’d never hurt you, other than with irritating comments and thinly veiled mean nicknames, but never physically. You’d seen his anger spiral out of control at other people, though. At a club once, some drunk frat dude squeezed your ass and asked for a blow-job and when you told him to fuck off he called you an ungrateful fat bitch. Ransom went mental. When he was finished, the frat guy’s face looked like a swollen, bruised balloon.
Even after that, it took a few days for the angry tension to leave his body. Soon enough, though, he was right as rain and back to his blithe, fuck the rest of the world self. It scared you at times, how quickly he could swing from carefree impudence to hot-tempered rage. He’d never given the slightest indication that he would flip on you, though.
Maybe today was the day, though, with the way his eyes burned under the bright, hanging lights.
As he stalked forward, you put on a placating smile, choosing not to back down to his mock intimidation tactics. You were calling his bluff. “And what if I did? That doesn’t mean I’d have to tell you. You’re not involved in my personal affairs, Ransom.”
His hand slapped down on the hard marble counter at your side and he loomed over you. You were now somewhat regretting the antagonistic route you had taken.
“Very funny, sugarplum. But we both know that’s a lie.” He reached up and tucked a loose strand of hair behind your ear. “There’s not the slightest chance in hell,” he whispered as he caressed your round cheek with his smooth thumb. His lack of callouses showed that he’d never worked a day in his life.
Now you were pissed. Who was he to be so cocky about your dating life? It made you even angrier that he was right and that for him, the opposite was true. Ransom had women lining up out the door, waiting for him to give them an ounce of attention.
You slapped away his hand. Instead of rising to his assholish comments, you pushed past him. Or, at least, you tried to. The space behind the counter was narrow and it didn’t help that Ransom didn’t turn to make your exit easier. You shimmied around him in the tight space, your body, unfortunately, pressing up against his.
He caught your shoulder, not letting you move past him. He shifted his body to face yours and peered down at your narrowed eyes. “What’s wrong, sugarplum?”
That was it.
“Don’t fucking call me that, Ransom!” You yanked out of his grasp and stormed off. You marched to the front door and swung it open, the bell rattling as you did. “I’m closing up shop. Time for you to leave. Now.”
Ransom followed your pathway but didn’t take a step past the threshold. Instead, he grabbed the side of the shiny door and swung it back shut. You stepped back at the sudden whirlwind, but he caught your wrist before you could get very far.
He flipped the lock and pulled you into his arms, wrapping them around your soft waist as he stared down at you. He would never get tired of holding you. It had been too long of just looking without touching, he was savoring the opportunity.
He titled his head. You could see in his bemused expression that he wasn’t taking your anger seriously. “Why’re you so upset all of a sudden? It’s just a little teasing, nothing different than our normal banter, sugar-”
You cut him off, “-I said not to call me that. I hate your stupid degrading nicknames. It’s not funny.”
Ransom’s brow furrowed, “What the fuck are you talking about? How have I possibly offended you beyond the normal amount? You’re used to me being a dick. It’s part of my charm.”
You glared at his smarmy, perfectly symmetrical face. “It’s not about that. You know exactly what I’m talking about. You think that I don’t see your little inside joke? Sugarplum? Yeah, call the fat chick something round and sickly sweet. It’s bullshit and you know it.”
Ransom scoffed, he had the nerve to fucking scoff at your accusation. “Are you seriously that stupid? You know me well enough to know that I don’t sugarcoat my words. If I wanted to insult you, I’d go right ahead and do it.”
That did nothing to absolve your resentment. “Then what’s with that fucking name, Ransom?”
It took him a moment to respond. He glanced at the floor, looking almost bashful. Was that a blush you saw on his cheeks? “Because I thought it was an adorable name that fit an adorable confectioner. No matter how much of an attitude you throw at me, I know that deep down you’re a little softie. It made sense in my head. Still does. Not to mention, they’re delicious- sweet and plump- ripe for the picking” At that, his eyes bore into you with an intense heat.
You tried to swallow but all the moisture had suddenly left your mouth. This new territory was too strange, too unfamiliar.  “Uh-um… Well. I’m glad we cleared that up then.” You squirmed awkwardly under his piercing blue gaze and gave him a tight-lipped smile, “So you can actually leave now.” You attempted to step back, but he held you still.
“I still don’t think you believe me.” He squeezed your waist and you let out a little squeak that made him grin. “Guess I’m just gonna have to show you how much I meant what I said” He leaned down so that your foreheads touched. “I’m gonna gobble you up, sugarplum.”

Baby gazing part 2 The weekend
Tumblr media
Just fluff mentions of pregnancy, babies brief mention of changing diapers and some good-old nature fooling 18+ just incase . Chris wvans as a father if that's a warning Comments Welcome and reblogs welcome to not repost translate or publish anywhere
Part 1 here
With our little one on my hip I poke Chris awake with one foot.
He groans
But the minute she giggles his head pops up
"Is that a giggle my little Oh come to daddy:
He holds his hands open then its like he sees her on my hip and freaks instantly so:
"You shouldn't he hold her like that give her to me, come on."
"Chris I-"
"Give her to me and you sit relax."
"Chris I have to chang-"
"I'll change her you sit there relax I'll bring her back to be fed then ill make us breakfast. just relax"
"No buts I got her baby." He kisses me on the forehead
"Ok."
"You ready to get changed all cleaned up baby? yea we gunna dress you cutie hu? ill put you in a cap. shirt." He bounced her as he walked out of the room.
Why argue when he wants to do everything? I could get used to this again. He hasn't been like this since the first few weeks after bringing her home but to be fair we are both sleep deprived and now were gunna be more so because- shit I had to make sure things were ready for Miles. But they won't be here till 2. Though ah no worries its easy just an extra.
Baby we'll tag team.
Chris comes back in with her and while I. Ferdinand her he comes back with a huge breakfast.
Did the fridge break or something.
"No I just wanted to make sure we had enough food here. It's not just you, you have to worry about."
He wrapped his arms around me and then petted her on the head she looked up at him and then smiled as much as she could. Which is unusual as she doesn't like to be disturbed when she is eatting.
So much fruit and sweets my brian is wanting the sweets but the baby- God she'll be too hyper with sugar from the fruit. Maybe some will be ok.
When she was done Chris took her back
Chris wa-
Let me hold her
Chris
Babe no I'm holding my baby
"She's my baby too" I pouted
"You always hold her let me"
"I want to"
"No, please babe," he gave me this sad woe is me look.
"Fine fine but if she has to be changed."
"I'll be all over it."
"Oh you will?" I thought." I've been eating broccoli the past two days and boy is Chris in for a surprise.
She kept reaching for me but Chris said no she tried to crawl but nope daddy dragged her back to his side. He had 2 girls who aren't happy right now. Both of us pouting and fo once I wasn't going to try and make her laugh she has good reason to pout- daddy has to learn.
He insited on putting her down for her nap and me taking a nap- who was I to argue with that. Ill take any nap. Then the glass alarm woke me up leaving me to wonder what he did to our guard-baby now....Then he came running in with her
"Ok it's ok see look mommy is right there" he came standing right next to the bed but wouldn't give me her. I'm wondering where the tissue box is so I can knock him over the with it then she had screamed so loud and high
"Here here here's mommy" he has never handed me the baby so fast in her life. The second I brought her to me she quieted down.
"I hope your happy your made your baby girl cry."
"I wasn't trying to I just-"
"It doesn't matter"
"But I"
"right now she wants her mommy all day she's been wanting her mommy"
"Honey but... look Let's just lets all lay down ok."
"Ok"
Then He slid his hand to support her belly and her and was able to move her enough to that a lot of her weight was on him and not me. I still didn't get it but hey he wants her butt in his face let it
He he was rubbing her butt, which is also his way of checking her diaper, then she shot him a dirty look and shuffled towards me more ans layed her head down on my chest. Her favorite pillow. I couldn't help but laugh.
Not like that I smacked his shoulder
But the rest of this day he was going crazy not letting me get up. I had to sneak to make sure we had stuff for Miles.
"What are you doing"
I jumped hearing Chris voice behind me hold our baby who had reached for me but Chris put her arms down.
"Chris what are you doing? Give me my baby!"
"No you're supposed to be resting-"
"Christopher Robert Evans I swear-"
The door bell rings. Great it's gotta be Jamie and Kyle and Miles.
"This is not finished" I point. pushing past him and walking to the door.
"No honey whose here? you shouldn't be around people its flu season." He comes after me.
"Hey guys"
Miles reached out for me.
"Hi Miles,"
"Someone got an admirier" Jamie said handing him to me
"Who wants a baby biscuit?"
His face lights up. This is going to be an easy weekend.
Nah I just give him cookies. I found it works on dogs and men. Uh that's not what I meant," I chuckled
"Babe no what are you doing?"
he tries to take Miles from me.
"Chris stop what are you doing"
"You shouldn't be holding him"
" What come on."
"Fine gime me her-"
"No."
"Chris we have company "I say through my strained teeth.
"But you still shouldn't be holding him. Think of the baby."
They look at me.
I shrug my shoulders. I
"fine but put her down please."
"Its fine I can handle two. i'll have to get used to it anyway."
Kyle and Jamie give me a look my shoulder goes up and down. I'm completely lost.
"Alright its just the weekend."
"Exactly"
"Ok he is expecting a baby biscuit it is in the pantry ill get it"
"No you sit I don't want you straining"
"Chris"
"Go"
"Ok ok"
Chris puts both of the babies down in the play pen and then to go get then thier cookies.
"Come on you guys sorry about him I wish I had an excuse he's just acting nutty today."
"You guys want coffee" He yells from the kitchen. They both nodd thier heads.
I reply "3 coffees"
"Nice try"
"That man is pushing me right now. I'm allowed the odd coffee while breast feeding and right now I need it or he'll need a new place to live. He driving me nuts Won't let me hold her at all."
"Are you- He's acting like you're pregnant again"
"Oh you have no clue I mean the breakfast me made it was so huge and -oh god."
"You aren't"
"No no I made a joke last night I totally forgot it was about watching miles that we'd have 2 babies in the house I made a joke hed have less than 9 months who knew he'd not realize this morning we have everything ready for miles I swear just-Wait a minute this could work."
They look at me
"I get a weekend off and Chris plays daddy for two babies oh this would really work. You think I can pull this off all weekend?"
"Oh yes," Jamie nods "You have to for women everywhere."
Chris comes back in to give the babies their cookies in the pen and then returns,
"two coffees and a non caffeeinated slightly sweetend ice tea for you."
He sits down and puts one hand on my stomach. Yep he thinks I'm pregnant.....
This is going to be a fun weekend.

Ransom Drysdale didn't knock. Not even at his grandfather's house - especially not at his grandfather's house. Harlan was used to his antics, never outright bothered by them. If he wanted to, he had his grandson handled. For the most, he didn’t seem to need to though.
It was no surprise to Harlan as he sat in his office, behind his massive wooden desk, and read over the latest draft of his book-in-progress, when the door suddenly opened and his grandson sauntered in. Ransom’s ever sour and pissed-off expression on his face wasn’t surprising either, and still, Harlan was happy as always to see him.
He stood up and walked around the desk, open arms ready and waiting for a hug. Ransom was less enthusiastic, grumbling his protests about anything and everything. Nonetheless, he reciprocated the hug of his grandfather, finally mumbling a “Happy Father’s Day granddad.”
Harlan was very happy about this, patting him on the shoulder and smiling.
“Come sit down with me,” he invited and pointed towards the chairs.
“Are you alone here? Where did you leave your entourage?”
Ransom shook his head, seemingly remembering something or rather someone's absence. Instead of sitting down, he turned towards the door. From the hallway other voices were echoing into the room.
“She and Martha had to chat,” he grumbled. Moments later a woman appeared in the doorframe, in her arms a small baby, only months old. Walking over, Ransom reached towards her. He rested one hand on her back and ushered her into the room. Poking his head into the hallway one last time, he closed the door, isolating the three of them. Both from eavesdropping ears as well from other unwelcome guests.
“Hello Harlan,” she greets him, having now made her way over to the older man, “Happy Father’s Day.” Harlan grinned at her.
“Hello Dear. Thank you so much.” Harlan wasted no time looking down at the small infant in her arms. The small babe had its eyes closed, soundlessly sleeping in its mother’s arms. The patriarch reached one hand out to lay it over the small torso, softly rubbing the small babe’s belly.
“My, has he gotten big already!”
“He has,” she enthusiastically agreed as Ransom stepped up to them. She could tell he was keeping up the facade of the unamused, outright bored man who would rather be anywhere else, but she also noted his relaxed stance. Not to mention he was less mouthy than usual. That alone always was a sign of the mask being there only out of old habits and the possibility of other family members barging in. He was much different at home when it was just them. Even if he knew none of his other relatives would arrive at his grandfather's he was much different.
“Ransom go take him for a second so I can hug your girlfriend!” Harlan demanded. She snickered at his antics but turned around to comply, passing the baby off into his arms. Although not before she pulled down the miniature cable knit sweater the little boy was wearing, matching Ransom’s.
They embraced while Ransom held his son. Out of the corner of his eyes, he was watching his girl and Harlan until the little boy in his arms gave a yawn. The action made the corners of his mouth twitch. He would never admit it but he was enamored by the little guy. He had never thought he’d one day tolerate or even enjoy the presence of an infant so much.
Too occupied with the little wonder in his arms, he didn’t notice the embrace ending. Not until Y/N’s hand landed on his bicep. Her other hand softly cupped the back of their child’s head.
“Happy Father’s Day Ransom,” she murmured softly against his cheek. This time he actually smiled a little, looking at her with fondness.

⋆•̩̩͙❅*̩̩͙‧͙ ‧͙*̩̩͙❆ ͙͛ ˚₊⋆
Okkk if I had a Secret Santa I’d 100% want it to be Ransom.
Cause imagine Ransom’s your secret Santa and you have no clue (obviously.) He absolutely adores you and decides to get the best gift just for you. He spent hours searching through aisles, shopping online, asking around to see what you love just to find the perfect gift.
And when it’s time to open presents, it’s the best gift anyones ever gotten you. (Might’ve even teared up a bit.) You go around and guess who it’s from, saying everyone but him. (Because of course grumpy Drysdale wouldn’t go out of his way for anyone but himself.)
But after far too many names that aren’t him were guessed, he takes matters into his own hands. Shakily he says it was him, his cheeks reddening as your lips part with shock.
And suddenly revealing himself felt like a mistake.
But the bright smile on your face makes it all better. You hug him. Actually hug him! And quickly he wraps his arms around you, closing his eyes because he knows this moment is temporary.
But as the party settles down and people fizzle out the door, you approach him once again. “How’d you know?” You question. Ransom had hardly ever spoken a word to you and yet he found the most personal gift in the world.
“I– it just seemed like you.”
He wants you to hug him again, just to feel the warmth of your body. But instead you do something better. You get on your tippy toes and press a gentle kiss to his cheek.

Can you do soft!daddy Chris and Ransom?
okey i'm getting soft now
Chris:
Tumblr media
I feel like Chris would fall more into the Cg/l (Caregiver/little)
Chris would always dote on his little girl
She could honestly do no wrong and when she did he somehow blamed himself for her behavior
He loved her like no other. She and Dodger would be his entire world
Like imagine her waking him up with breakfast in bed that consisted of burnt toast, spilled cereal and super bitter coffee
His heart would explode and he would tickle her while peppering her with kisses
He would then get up and cook them a nice breakfast while she colored and watched tv
Ransom:
Tumblr media
Ransom on the other hand would be into dummification
He gets off on the fact that he's smarter than her
It comes naturally with the age gap, but when she goes little he can't help but get a little ferral
We all know Ransom is about Ransom, so when this little cloud of sunshine came into his life out of nowhere, his first instinct was to protect
He's be lying if he said she didn't scare him at first, but he adjusted
Ransom is not like Chris in a lot of ways. He has no problem punishing his little one
She would have chores to keep her brain and attention skills sharp
If she missed her bedtime, she would get no dessert the next night
She was also no stranger to spankings and standards
He loved her more than himself, but she had to know her place. And she does
Thanks to Daddy

Nobody could have really accounted for this party going sideways.
Well, now that you think about it, Ransom did try to warn you.
Staying away from the fray, you try to keep yourself calm as a contraction rolls through your body. They’re getting closer together now.
Linda shouts at Walt–you mentally curse him again for showing up uninvited and stirring up trouble under the guise of wanting to talk to Harlan. In the back of your mind, you consider getting a restraining order.
Harlan stands with Ransom, holding him back from getting involved. You want to get up and completely remove him from the situation; this isn’t how he should be spending his birthday.
Your muscles tighten once more and now you know it’s time to go to the hospital.
Rising from your seat, you approach Marta on the green as she keeps Junior occupied with a game of ring toss. You place a hand on her shoulder and tell her you need to leave.
“What?” she asks incredulously, looking down at your belly.
“It’s time,” you manage between breaths. “I should’ve said something to Ransom earlier but there’s no time. I feel like if I say something it’ll just cause the world to implode.”
“Let me and Junior come with you, I’ll drive,” she offers.
You shake your head. “No, no, just let them know where I am when the time is right.”
She doesn’t have time to respond as you squat down as much as possible when your son arrives. “I’ll see you soon, sweetie.”
You kiss his forehead. “Where you going, mommy?”
“Your baby sibling is on their way,” you tell him. “I have to go to the hospital so that the doctors and nurses can help me and keep him healthy.”
“Why? Stay home,” he argues, “I help mommy.”
Pushing down the pain and controlling your face, you fight another contraction. “My sweet boy,” you sigh. “You’ll be a good big brother.”
Worry cloaks his face and you kiss his cheek, slowly losing chubbiness and you miss the soft cushion of it despite the joy of watching him grow. “Mommy will be okay, I promise.”
He nods, letting go of your hand as you sneak out the side gate and hop into the car.
- - - - -
Fed up, Ransom shouts, ordering Walt to get out of his house with a threat to call the police. This is the last thing his family needs, wishing Junior wasn’t exposed to this, and his wife needing to be in stress-free situations as much as possible.
Craning his neck to look back at you, he finds the outdoor table empty. He turns to look at the green by the pool, only finding Marta entertaining Junior.
Ransom thinks out loud, asking where you are. All heads begin to turn, eyes scanning the yard. You couldn’t have gone into the house without his knowledge; he was facing the screen door the entire time.
Linda disappears into the guest house to search for you as he goes into the pool house in case you had gone to use the bathroom there.
Coming up empty, he approaches Marta.
“Where’s my wife?” he demands.
“I…” Her eyes are wide, caught like a deer in headlights.
“Marta…” his voice lowers, slightly threatening. He knows it’s not necessary, but his protective instincts override any form of rational thinking. “Where is she?”
Two taps land on his knee and he looks down at his son.
“Daddy,” he reaches up.
Ransom picks him up, settling him on his hip. “What is it, sunbeam?”
“Mommy go have baby!” he whispers excitedly.
Feeling his heart drop, Ransom’s eyes go as wide as Marta’s. He looks at her and shouts, “What?!”
“I…she…she said–!”
“You knew?!”
“Ransom, what’s the problem?” Harlan hobbles over, trying again to diffuse an emotionally charged situation.
“Y/N,” Ransom says, “Junior said she left to go to the hospital!”
“Well you have to go!” the older man says, reaching for the young boy. “Come here, Junior, your dad has to go see your mom.”
“I want to go with Daddy!”
“Junior, listen to grandad,” Ransom tells him, trying to hand him off, but the little boy won’t budge, fisting his father’s shirt in his hands. He cries and Ransom’s brain melts under the stress, unsure what to do.
“We’ll take you to McDonald’s,” Harlan bargains. The tears immediately stop and Junior reaches for his great-grandad. Once in his arms, Ransom makes his escape.
Running through the house, he sweeps up the bag he had packed for this very moment, though he had imagined it going down very differently.
He drives with his heartbeat in his ears, wildly pulling up to the valet station and shouting at the poor man to ask which way Labor & Delivery is. He should know where it is; he’d been there when Junior was born and he had toured the newly remodeled wing when his wife created the birth plan for right now.
“Uh…”
“Labor. And. Delivery!” he shouts, “Where is it?!”
“I just park cars, sir!” the valet cowers, “You have to ask reception!”
Slapping the keys into the poor guy’s hand, Ransom runs in and finds the reception desk to ask the same question. Once pointed in the right direction, he runs down the hall, ignoring the staff shouting that he needs to walk.
Crashing into a second desk, he shouts your name at the receptionist. “Which room is she in?!”
“Can I have your name first?”
“Drysdale, Ransom Drysdale, I’m her husband, where is she?”
“Oh,” the nurse says, looking at the computer.
“What? What is it?!”
“She needed an emergency c-section.”
Ransom’s heart drops. “What-what, what do you mean?”
“Come with me, there’s still time for you to scrub up.”
“Scrub up–wait just tell me what’s wrong!” he shouts as he follows her to the elevator.
The nurse explains on the ride up, before telling him he’ll need to change before entering the operating room.
“Operating room,” he breathes. “Is she going to be okay?”
“Of course, she will,” she reassures him with a hand on his shoulder. “This procedure is pretty typical.”
“What about the baby?”
“They’ll be okay too.”
The elevator dings and Ransom continues to follow her as she taps her key card to open a door. Leading him into a locker room, she tells him to store the bag while she turns to another cabinet and pulls out a set of clothes and a hairnet.
“You can go into one of the stalls and change. Make sure the hair net is below your hairline at the back of your neck, too.”
In his new set of clothes, Ransom steps out and puts on the shoe covers and follows the nurse again to the operating room.
Another nurse approaches and they speak for a moment before Ransom is told to follow the second one.
“Remember to speak quietly since the procedure is underway. There will be a curtain covering the lower half of your wife’s body, so stay on that side of the curtain and don’t look over it until the team tells you to.”
Nodding, Ransom watches the nurse open the door and walk straight to you, whispering in your ear.
Your neck cranes to look at him. “Ransom,” you smile before your face wrinkles, “Hey.”
“What the fuck, sunshine?” he sighs exasperatedly as he sits down on the stool the nurse provides for him.
“You seemed pretty tied up at the party.”
“Tied up enough that you had to sneak off to this hospital on your own?” He takes your hand and moves some hair out of your face.
You shrug. “You think you can get mad at me later? I’m kind of in the middle of something.”
He manages a laugh, kissing your forehead, “Sure.”
As time passes, the minutes are slow as you and Ransom keep yourselves occupied, talking quietly about menial things like what you want to eat afterward.
Hearing some chatter on the other side of the curtain, Ransom begins to stand, wondering if he’s heard the signal.
“Sir, wait, you need to sit down–”
All the muscles in his face go lax, eyes unable to turn away from the horrific sight of his wife under the knife and–
“Sir,” the nurse calls again, motioning for him to sit down.
He realizes they didn’t want him to see because nothing would be worse than a man passing out while an operating team cuts open a woman to retrieve a baby from inside her. With that, he plops back into his seat, still dazed.
“Ransom, are you okay?”
“Are you okay?” he wonders, looking down at you. “I feel like you should be in a world of pain right now.”
“I can’t feel anything. Or any pain, I should say. I can feel some movement, though.” You reach up and touch his face, “You sure you’re okay? You're a little pale.”
He swallows, “Yes, of course,” he nods. “I just…saw a little bit more of you than I would’ve liked.”
You hum a laugh. “I hope that doesn’t ruin my sex appeal for you.”
Flustered at your flirting, Ransom snaps out of it, laughing and trying to focus on you. “Never, though…I can’t say it won’t haunt me for a little bit.”
“That’s understandable,” you nod with a sigh.
You’re interrupted by the sound of crying, your heart leaping knowing your baby is here.
A nurse brings the infant to you and offers her congratulations. “It’s a boy,” she says.
“Oh,” you sigh happily, gathering him close and laying him on your shoulder. “Hey, little guy.”
He coos and wails, tiny sounds bringing you to tears yourself. You look up at Ransom, adoring the awe-stricken look on his face.
“Your second son,” you tell him. “Your birthday buddy.”
Placing a gentle hand on the baby’s back, Ransom sighs. “What is up with our kids stealing people’s birthdays?”
You laugh and Ransom couldn’t be happier.
- - – - -
After standing at the top of the world, Ransom should’ve known coming back down would have hurt.
It was important to remember his son was perfectly healthy. All ten fingers and all ten toes, bright eyes that looked around curiously, strong lungs and heart.
Then, he failed the hearing screening. And the second one after that. And the third one.
He stared at him in the nursery, feeling trapped in the hospital as he stayed with you while you recovered after surgery. Even when going back to the house to check on Junior and Linda, his mind was still with you and Spencer.
He loved the name; it made his heart sink to consider that he may not ever hear it.
“Is there…something you want to talk about?” Linda offers as she sits on the opposite side of the couch, the two of them watching Junior lounge on the floor as he watches a TV show.
There’s a part of Ransom that wants to keep it in, that barrier between himself and his mother still constructed and difficult to look past. This time, he’s unable to hold everything back.
“Spencer…the baby. He can’t hear,” he shakes his head. “Y/N said sometimes it’s genetic, but neither of us has a history of hearing loss in our families. It’s just the cards he was dealt.”
“Ransom,” his mother sighs, “There’s something you should know.”
“What?”
“Your father has a history of hearing loss in his family. One of his siblings can’t hear.”
Ransom presses his hands into his face.
He has to tell you.
- - - - -
Ransom sits next to you, watching as you hold Spencer to your breast to have him feed. It’s a wonderful image, something he wants to stow away in a corner of his mind to remember on difficult days.
You’ve given him everything; made him change for the better and turned him into a family man.
He’s done his best to provide for you in ways he knows how. He loves you with every fiber of his being, tries to be a good father.
What kind of father gives his child a hearing loss?
“I have to tell you something.”
“What is it?” you reply, slowly looking away from Spencer and toward your husband.
His eyes sting with tears, “I know why he can’t hear.”
You smile and shake your head, “Ransom, there doesn’t need to be a reason, things like this happen. And who knows, it might not even be anything. We just have to wait until we see the audiologist–”
“But, sunshine…hearing loss runs in my dad’s family,” his eyes drift downward. “My mom told me. One of my dad’s siblings is deaf.”
You’re quiet and the guilt consumes him, tears falling. “It’s my fault.”
“Hey,” you call to him. “Look at me.”
He wipes his eyes, meeting your gaze.
“You did nothing wrong. Nobody blames you for anything. Look at him.”
Both of you spare a glance at your son before you speak again. “He’s perfect just the way he is. We knew he wouldn’t be exactly like Junior; we knew he’d come with his own needs and conditions. This is one of them.”
“How can I be a father to him? I can’t even talk to him.”
“I know sign language,” you tell him. “I use it all the time to talk to the nonverbal kids.”
“But…we both look after Junior, I can’t just not parent Spencer too–”
“I’ll teach you and Junior. You’ll both learn. And there are other options, too. We just have to talk to the audiologist when we can. Ransom,” you reach for him, wincing at the pain in your stomach. “We can do this. I know you can do this.”
Squeezing your hand, Ransom cups the back of his son’s head. Pursing his lips, he nods, believing he could do anything with you.

Pairing: Ransom Drysdale x Female Reader (Knives Out AU - no murder here!)
Warnings: swear words, shouting, multiple medical terms and phrases (PCOS, cancer, mass, fertility, pregnancy, etc.), angst, fluff, soft!Ransom (at least with the reader).  Flashbacks in italics.
Summary: Over the course of a few short hours, your life flipped upside down.  Plans for yourself.  Your future with Ransom.  All the pieces you’d used to build a foundation for your future, blown away in the breeze.  What does your future look like now?  And, most importantly, will Ransom be in it?
Word Count: 3032
A/N: This story is very personal for me, but I know a lot of you here on Tumblr can relate.  It was a very cathartic process to write it all down and get it all out.  While I have a great support system of family and friends to help me through this situation (read more about what’s going on here), I can’t help but daydream and wonder how one of my favorite CE characters would react.  I love soft!Ransom, so I hope this delivered!

Numb.
You didn’t know any other word to describe how you were feeling right now.  Over the course of a few short hours, your life flipped upside down.  Plans for yourself.  Your future with Ransom.  All the pieces you’d used to build a foundation for your future, blown away in the breeze.
A few months ago, your PCOS started acting up.  This wasn’t all that uncommon - most people with PCOS noticed different symptoms every few years as their hormone levels changed.  Originally, your symptoms had been more of an inconvenience than anything else.  Long, heavy periods, an occasional migraine, a bit more facial hair.  Everything was easy to fix with a birth control pill and a mild hormone replacement pill that you took twice a day.
When you started seeing Ransom two years ago, you didn’t even mention it to him at first.  Ransom’s reputation clearly preceded himself, and neither of you were looking for anything serious.  A year into your relationship, you forced him to at least sit down and discuss where this was headed.  After admitting to each other that you’d never been happier, you set aside a few days for a long weekend getaway to discuss things further.
Surprisingly, both of you were open to marriage and to the idea of kids someday.  You also agreed that neither of you were ready for those steps anytime soon - you were both relatively young, and he didn’t want to rush in and have this relationship turn out like his toxic parents or other family members.  The only piece you were adamant about was that you wanted to be married before having kids, and Ransom didn’t have any problems with that, either.
He’d even given you his pinky ring that weekend as a promise ring of sorts, telling you to keep it until he had something more permanent for you in the future.
You’d brought up your PCOS that weekend, and even after talking about how it might impact your fertility someday, Ransom assured you it wasn’t an issue.  In his words, “I’ve got money if we need to go down that road, sweet girl.  Don’t worry about it”
And you hadn’t, until a few hours ago.
When you went in for your yearly checkup with your OBGYN last month, you’d brought up a few new symptoms you had experienced.  Again, this wasn’t uncommon to have changing symptoms as you got older, so your doctor ordered a few tests to see what was up.  “Just a formality,” she explained.  “It will help us rule a few things out so we know what our next steps should be.”
Except this morning, you found out that the tests didn’t rule anything out.  Instead, they found the culprit - a softball-sized mass on one of your ovaries.
The good news was that it wasn’t likely cancerous, but they would biopsy it when it was removed just to make sure.
The bad news was…more complicated.
“Since you have history on both sides of your family of endometrial and ovarian cancer, plus you have history in your family of getting cancer at an early age, I strongly recommend you get a full hysterectomy in the next two to three years.”
Your mind was swimming with information and everything was coming at you so fast, but the only response suitable for this situation was simple.
“What?”
With a look of sympathy, your doctor continued.  “I know we’d discussed how your PCOS would work with your future plans for having kids in five or six years, but based on how fast this mass came up, I’m strongly suggesting we move that plan up if we can.  There’s just too much risk waiting around a few extra years when they will likely lead to another mass and a high risk for cancer.”
“Oh.”  Looking down at your hands, you nervously start fiddling with Ransom’s pinky ring.  It was a nervous habit of yours - one Ransom learned soon after he gave you that ring.  Unfortunately, Ransom wasn’t there to notice.
Sitting on your bed, you were still twisting that ring around your finger.  Ransom would be home soon, and you still didn’t have any idea how you were going to tell him.  Sure, he knew you were going into the doctor, but you were both expecting this to be a minor appointment.  An adjustment to a medication.  Maybe even a few more tests to narrow results down.
Not a softball-sized mass and a hysterectomy in two or three years, effectively cutting your timeline for marriage and kids in half.
While you should be worrying about your health, you were more concerned with how Ransom would react.  What if he wasn’t ready for this timeline?  Would he want to take kids off the table?  If he was stuck on the timeline and didn’t want to give up kids, how did you fit in that future?
After all this, do you even fit at all?
When you left your doctor’s office, those thoughts were a mere whisper.  You knew Ransom, and you were just starting to convince yourself that there was nothing to worry about.
That is until you ran into Linda on the way out to your car.
Exiting the medical plaza, you sit down on a bench outside the front entrance, close your eyes, and take a deep breath.  You want to call Ransom, but you know he is in a meeting with a potential new author he and Harlan wanted to bring into Blood Like Wine.  He’d drop the meeting for you in a heartbeat, but after a few more deep breaths, you convince yourself you can wait until he gets home.
Fate, however, wanted to throw you one last curveball.
Standing up, you start walking to your car.  As you dig in your purse for your keys, you accidentally bump into someone, causing your appointment notes and surgery details to scatter on the ground.
“Excuse me!  Do you not have eyes?  Do you know who I am?”  You knew that disgusted voice anywhere.
Linda.
Before you even think about collecting the paper scattered around you, you muster up a small smile and look up at Ransom’s mother.
“I’m so sorry, Linda.  I wasn’t paying attention and I was looking for my keys.”
“Oh, it’s you.”  As you start collecting your paperwork, Linda continues.  “You look like shit.”
Huffing out a laugh, you continue stuffing papers into your folder.  Ransom’s parents, especially Linda, made it very clear from the beginning that they didn’t approve of you.  Unlike the endless line of women Linda paraded in front of her only son, you didn’t have a wealthy, well-known family to fall back on.
What you did have was your education, a stable job, and parents who actually loved you - but that didn’t matter to Richard and Linda.
Just then, a breeze came and caused your last piece of paper to take flight.  Before it could get too far, Linda used her designer shoe to stomp it to the ground.  As you were reaching for it, the paper was snatched up in Linda’s eager hands.
“What even has you so preoccupied that you can’t -”
At Linda’s abrupt stop, your face pales.  Your mind scrambles as you stand up.  Trying to figure out what piece of paper she managed to snatch up, all thoughts stop as she starts laughing.
Your heart sinks as you confirm your fears, spotting your appointment summary sheet in her hands.
After a few seconds, her laughter dies down.  Throwing the paper in your direction, you catch it as she leaves her parting words.
“Ransom was so blind before, but he won’t be able to ignore this.  The only reason he’s kept you around is to warm his bed and pop out a few kids when the time comes.  Now that you can’t even do that, maybe he’ll see you for what you really are.  Worthless.”
Worthless.
That’s the word your mind was playing on repeat as you sat on your bed, spinning that ring round and round.
You were so caught up in your thoughts that you didn’t hear the front door slam shut or Ransom’s loud footsteps as they climbed the stairs to your shared bedroom.  In fact, you didn’t register anything until your own bedroom door was thrown open, colliding with the wall behind it.  Ransom quickly started to pace the room, mumbling incoherent thoughts under his breath.  From previous experience, you knew it was best to let him pace and blow off some steam - but you had too much swimming around in your head to remember that today.
“Ran, are you OK?”
Stopping dead in his tracks, he spins to look at you before shouting, “DOES IT LOOK LIKE I’M OK TO YOU?!”
The next events were ones you’d seen early on in your relationship, long before you knew it was best to let him pace and calm himself down.  If you let him do that, he’d eventually come to you in an hour or so to calmly discuss his frustrations.  If you didn’t let him do that, he often screamed and shouted at whoever was closest and would listen.
Today, that person was you.
“There we were, Harlan and I, meeting with this new author.  Everything was going well until Walt walked in and fucked everything up.  We almost had the contract finalized before that shithead waltzed in and started bitching about terms of the deal he didn’t even have any fucking say over.  Can you believe it?”
On a normal day, you knew whatever Ransom mumbled under his breath wasn’t directed at you.
Unfortunately, today wasn’t normal.
“What a worthless piece of shit.”
A small gasp leaves your mouth as you look up at Ransom.  There’s that word again.  Worthless.  Using the little strength you have left, you look at him and whisper, “what?”
Huffing, he turns to look at you before yelling, “I said, WHAT A WORTHLESS PIECE OF SHIT!”
Faster than your mind can think, your legs carry you to the bathroom.  Slamming and locking the door behind you, you collapse to the hard tile as the first sob rips from your chest.
Slowly, Ransom recovers from the initial shock of your reaction and rushes to the bathroom door.  Jiggling the handle, he swears under his breath.
“Kitten?  I’m sorry for yelling, sweet girl.  Can you open up the door for me?”  You can’t even hear him over your sobs.
Over the next few minutes, your crying dies down and you finally hear Ransom apologizing and asking you to open the door.  Standing up, you scoff at your tear-stained face and puffy eyes in the mirror, but it’s too late to do anything about that now.  Slowly, you walk over to the door and open it up, meeting a very concerned Ransom.
Instantly, you’re wrapped in his strong arms, causing the tears to start again.  When he starts pressing kisses to your hair, you wrap your own arms around his abdomen and hang on for dear life.  Eventually, he picks you up bridal style and sits down on the bed, settling you on his lap.  After a few more minutes holding each other in silence, he clears his throat and tips your eyes up to meet his.
“I’m so sorry, kitten.  There’s no excuse for blowing up at you like that.  You don’t deserve to be treated like that by anyone, let alone me.”
Sensing his regret, you start apologizing as well.  “It’s OK, Ransom.  You have every right to be frustrated, and I’m usually better about reading the situation and knowing when to leave you alone to calm down.  I should’ve just walked away when you came in.  It’s just,” sighing, you look down at your hands and start spinning Ransom's ring.  “I’ve got too many other things to think about today.”
After a few seconds, Ransom places one large hand over yours to stop your spinning.  Using his other hand to tilt your head up to look into his eyes, he responds.
“Stop apologizing, sweet girl.  You did nothing wrong.  Now,” lifting your hand up, he places a kiss on his ring.  “You’ve been spinning this ring since I got home.  What’s wrong?”
Looking down at your linked hands, you answer.  “Did you remember that I had my follow up appointment with my OBGYN today?”
“Yeah, you mentioned that this morning.  What did your doctor say?”
You take a deep breath and let it out and take a moment to study his perfectly blue eyes before you continue.  “They found a mass on one of my ovaries.”
Ransom, for once in his life, is speechless.
Taking his silence as an opportunity to continue, you push on.  “It’s about the size of a softball, and they’re going to have to surgically remove it and the ovary in a few weeks.  They don’t think it’s cancer, but they’ll do a biopsy after surgery to make sure.”
Breathing out a sigh of relief, Ransom smiles and kisses you on your forehead.  “Hey, we can get through this, kitten.  Surgery isn’t great, but at least the outcome looks good, right?”
Tears start brimming your eyes again and you force yourself to look away from his excited features.  Once again, his hands stop yours from twirling his ring.  This time, he doesn’t immediately make you look up at him.
“What else is it?”
A few tears roll down your cheeks, but Ransom turns your face towards his to cup your cheeks and wipe them away.  “Whatever it is, we’ll get through it.”  Pressing his lips to yours for a quick kiss, he pulls back.  “I promise.”
Bracing for the worst and hoping for the best, you start the harder half of the conversation.
“Do you remember that trip we took last year when we talked about the future?  Like if we were open to marriage, kids, stuff like that?”
“Of course, I do.”  It was Ransom’s turn to start fiddling with the ring on your finger.  “That’s the trip that I gave you my ring.”
For a brief moment, you catch yourself smiling at the memory.  Unfortunately, just as quick as the smile came, it fades away.
“What I’m about to tell you is going to throw a wrench in those plans, Ransom, and I want you to know that I understand if this is a dealbreaker for you.  If things are moving too fast and you want someone else who fits the plan we agreed on, I’ll completely understand…”
“KITTEN!”  You flinch at Ransom’s sudden outburst, but he’s quick to apologize.  “Sorry, but you’ve got to tell me what’s going on.  This talking in circles isn’t helping anyone.”
Welp, you think.  Here goes nothing.
“Since I have a history of endometrial and ovarian cancer on both sides of my family, my doctor is strongly recommending I get a hysterectomy in the next few years.”
You’re met with silence as Ransom processes through this new information.
“How many years is a few years?”
“Two, maybe three.  I don’t think you know this, but I’ve had two female cousins and one aunt get cancer before they turned 30.  Because of that, she’s concerned I’ll get cancer at a young age, too.  I can’t get ovarian or endometrial cancer if I don’t have those parts inside me anymore, so the sooner I get rid of them, the better.  Ultimately, if I want a chance at carrying my own biological children, I need to start trying now.”
Immediately and without any explanation, Ransom dumps you off his lap, gets off the bed, and walks directly into his closet.  You jump when you hear a drawer slam, but before you can fully react, Ransom’s back at the bed.  Pulling you to sit on the edge, he drops down on one knee in front of you.
Tears fill your eyes as he shows you the ring box in his hand.
“You’ve had to do a lot of talking today, sweet girl, so it’s only fair I get to talk for a while, OK?”
Nodding your head up and down, he smiles.
“Even though we decided on that trip last year we were going to wait and take our time before getting engaged, I knew you were the one.  The day after we got back, I contacted our jeweler so we had plenty of time to design the perfect engagement ring.  After sending in some pictures of your jewelry and giving some input of my own, we came up with this.”  Lifting the closed box up a few inches, he continued.
“The minute I saw it, I immediately knew this ring was meant for this finger.”  Picking up your hand, he placed a light kiss on your left ring finger.  “I knew right then and there I was ready to marry you.  Hell, I’ve almost proposed twice in the last few months, but I knew we had a plan - and I know you well enough by now that once you make a plan, you stick to it.  But you know what I think?”
“What?”
With a smug grin, he responds.  “I think this is the universe’s way of telling our plan to fuck off.”
For the first time all day, you release a full blown laugh - and the smile on Ransom’s face couldn’t get any bigger.
“We can get married today, we can get married next month, or we could wait ten years.  No matter when it happens, I know for a fact that I’ll always choose you.  So, we can throw our plans out the window or I can put this box away and save it for a few years down the road.  Either way, I’ll always end up with you, sweet girl.  So, what do you say?  Am I opening this or not?”
Without thinking, you pull Ransom’s face to yours and devour his lips with an eager kiss.  Tangling your hands in his hair to pull him closer, he wraps his arms around your waist to draw you in.  Your body buzzes from the passion and lack of air, and soon you’re forced to break apart to breathe.
It isn’t a hard decision, so why wait?
“Open it.”

“She won’t last, none of them do. It’s Ransom. He like his girls out the door before the sun rises in the morning.”
With the side of your head resting against the cool glass of the passenger seat window, you sucked in a heavy breath through your nostrils as you tried to shake the horrible words from your mind. But it was no use. Linda Drysdale’s miserably sarcastic tone was playing like a record on repeat as you stared forward through glazed eyes, unable to focus on anything other than your racing thoughts and the low rumble of the car’s engine.
Only an arm’s length away, both large hands grasped firmly against the steering wheel, Ransom could feel the defeat radiating off of you as you sat in the silence. He wasn’t sure what exactly had happened, but he could only imagine it had something to do with his insufferable family doing what they did best- ruining everything in his life without even trying. Which is exactly why he was nervous to bring you around for a family dinner. But when he had mentioned how much he was dreading the impending event, you, being the sweetheart that you were, had been more than happy to offer to tag along. “If you really have to go, the least I can do is come along and keep you company.” He had appreciated it more than he could express through words, but now it was clear that the whole thing had gone up in flames, despite both of your best efforts to have the night go as smoothly as possible.
“Honey…” Ransom’s worried voice trailed off into the quiet as he furrowed his brow, stealing a quick glance over at you as he continued down the road. “You feelin’ okay?”
You offered a wordless nod, but at that point both of you were well aware you were just trying to get him off your back. The last thing you wanted to do was breakdown right there in the car; you were doing everything in your power to at least make it home before coming completely undone.
“Okay bub, okay,” the man’s soft voice conceded, waiting through a few moments of silence before daring to add, “Almost there, sweet girl. You want me to run you a bath when we get in?”
“No,” you dismissed faintly, gaze dropping to your lap where your hands were resting, “that’s okay. Think ‘m just gonna crawl into bed.”
Frowning further at your words, Ransom nodded, though no part of him wanted to let you just disappear into the covers without any sort of attempt at a conversation; he knew there was care and repair needed. And he knew you were one to deprive yourself of that, though he always did his best to make sure he gave it to you anyway.
The last few minutes of the drive home were quiet, nothing stirring between the two of you as the familiar roads passed by through the windows. As the car pulled up the private gravel drive to the house, the sensored lights on the garage’s exterior lit up, their glow offering a hint of visibility through the cold, black dark of the night. Bringing the vehicle to a gentle stop, Ransom shifted into park before pulling the keys from the engine, unbuckling his seatbelt before pausing. Head lifting up slightly, he turned to glance at you as you sat still strapped into your seat. And as the soft blue seas of his eyes finally met your own, that was all it took. Before you knew it, your vision was flooding with tears as a shaky sob escaped your lips.
“Oh sweetheart-”
Lowering your head instinctively in shame, you did your best to force down the rising waves of emotion, hands coming up to clench into fists over your chest as you squeezed your eyes shut. Within a matter of moments, Ransom was hurrying out of the driver's side door, making his way around the front of the vehicle to get to you. His heart pounded heavily in his chest as he opened the passenger side to your shaky cries growing worse. There was nothing in the world that could bring him to his knees quicker than the sight of your suffering. Trying to collect himself for both of your sakes, he swallowed down the lump in his throat.
"Oh baby, hey- come here, y/n." Reaching in as gently as he could, he undid your seatbelt, carefully easing the straps back to free you before wrapping his large arms around you to collect you into his embrace. Lifting you up with little effort, he held you close, a hand coming up to brush your hair back from your dampened cheeks. "My sweet angel, it's okay. Let's get you inside, hm?"
Unable to do much more than offer the man a shaky nod, you tucked your head into the crook of his neck as he closed the car door behind the two of you. "Gotta lock it up baby, just a sec," he murmured into your hair as he reached down into his pocket, clicking a button on the fob twice to earn a faint beep signalling it had worked. "There we go, okay princess," Ransom kept talking to you softly as he walked the two of you up the rest of the drive to the doorway, hoping his calming words might help as you fought to take steady breaths in his arms.
Ransom knew you inside and out, and that meant he knew the intricate battle you were fighting internally at that moment. He knew you hated to cry more than almost anything; it was something you had battled with all your life. That's why you had developed the maybe counterproductive habit of trying to fight back tears whenever they did arise, but sometimes your feelings would inevitably become just too overpowering as they were that night, and Ransom knew it was imperative that he do whatever he could to support you.
After turning the house key in the front door to let the two of you in, the brown-haired man planted another kiss into your hair softly as he guided the two of you to the living room, settling down on the plush brown sofa with you on his lap. Sitting in the silence, Ransom brought a hand up to run soothing lines over your back, his voice low and steady as he murmured to you, "Keep breathing for me, sweetheart. It's okay."
Unable to form any words out of fear of collapsing further into your breakdown, you just did your best to obey the man's suggestion. Finding the faint sensation of his pulse against you, you tried to time your breaths with the steady beating of his heart. Feeling you relax the slightest bit against him, Ransom smiled. "There you go, that's it, y/n. Don't have to do or say anything yet, honey. Just keep breathing for me, that's all."
The next several minutes were filled with nothing but the quiet hammer of the man's heart guiding your intake of air, only an occasional hiccup or sniffle on your end breaking through the silence. Ransom was doing all he could to comfort you physically, hands rubbing over your arms and back, continuing to kiss the top of your head every once and a while to let you know he was right there. At some point, when you realized the crashing tides of your feelings had finally settled back down and receded enough to be manageable, you let out a deep sigh, slumping a bit against the warm body holding you so steadily afloat.
Eyes rising shyly up to search for his, you found them gazing down attentively at you, softening as he smiled at finally getting to see your face. "There you are; hi, baby." Kissing your nose softly, Ransom brought a hand up to cup your cheek, cooing gently as you rested against his palm. "There, I got you, honey. You just take your time, okay? And whenever you're ready, if you want, you can let me know what's on your mind."

Tears filled your eyes as you read the email. Another job rejection. This one hadn’t given you the chance for an interview. Just like the last one.
You stiffened and quickly tucked your phone away as Ransom walked into his home office. “Excuse me, Hugh. I mean, Mr. Drysdale.”
“Let me guess?” Ransom smirked as he shut and locked the door. “You got rejected? Again? Probably because you were too busy looking at your phone instead of cleaning my house.”
“I'm sorry?”
“Cut the bullshit. I'm not a fucking idiot,” he snapped, his usually handsome face twisted in a scowl. “You think I don’t know that you’ve been looking for other jobs?”
You caved under his sharp gaze and wondered how he found out. “It isn’t personal,” you said, refusing to tell him that you were uncomfortable in his presence. “But this was a temporary job and-”
“After the calls I made, no one will hire you,” he cut you off, eyeing you like you were a piece of meat as tears began to fall. “And you can call me Ransom from now on.”
You screamed when he bent you over the desk a minute later, even though no one was around for miles to hear. You promised you wouldn’t tell if he let you go. You may have even said you hated him when he laughed.
“Go on. Tell me you hate me and see what that does to me. But you aren’t going anywhere, pumpkin. You’re mine now.”

Don't worry. I'm sure he'll be good to you. 😈 Love and thanks for reading! ❤️
