I think like. Sitting in a group talking and eating Soljanka (or any other stew really) is what we're supposed to do. I think the most human thing we can do is sit together. I don't know how to explain this but for me? You can see humanity in a conversation, a few shared laughs, a pot of soup with stuff mixed as we are.

That are also the moments I understand the Ursuppe theory i don't know how to translate Ursuppe because it's a german made up word but it's something my mother sometimes talks about. How before everything there was a liquid with everything and then it got very warm and everything was made of it.

Lyra was really hungry yesterday, on the boob allllll day, and consequently I didn't have a lot of time to pump so I could sleep in this morning. Eli brought her to me, and was oddly apologetic.

"I wasn't going to wake you but she said she's wasting away to nothing."

I look at her a moment, chunky little thing she is, and take her...she latches on and starts in right away. A pro at eating, my daughter is.

I decide to get up and start my day, wandering into the dining room to sit and watch some birds hop along the porch railing outside, and Eli sets a bowl in front of me...leftover soljanka.

"Weird breakfast kinda but it's suitable for eating one-handed. I didn't think you'd want yogurt again..."

"Good call, I'm waaayyyy too fucking hungry for yogurt to do it." He leans down for a kiss and I definitely hesitate. "I haven't brushed my teeth yet."

"I'm grown and also, I've watched you dilate. All mystery is gone, just lean into it."

So I do lean into it, lean forward, lean into a kiss that's physically nothing more than our lips just barely touching. Emotionally though...it always takes me a moment to recover.

"Do you miss it?"

He's taken a seat next to me, and is watching Lyra with a small smile on his face. "I don't miss anything from before this." He looks up at me, and his smile grows wider. "Did I ever thank you for her?"

"A number of times, and you're welcome still."

"Did I ever thank you, for you?"

My breath catches in my throat, and I have to fight not to cry. "You're not obligated to..."

"I have never felt obligated, just incredibly lucky."
