New Sony Xperia 1 V: A High-End Smartphone to Look Forward To
Tumblr media
Sony, the Japanese smartphone manufacturer, is rumored to launch its new smartphone, the Sony Xperia 1 V. Although the company has not officially announced the phone, leaks, and rumors have been circulating online. The Sony Xperia 1 V is expected to succeed the Sony Xperia 10 IV, which was launched last year in May.
Design and Features:
The leaked images of the Sony Xperia 1 V suggest that the phone will have a sleek design, featuring a triple camera setup on the rear panel with an LED flash placed inside the camera island, different from the Sony Xperia 10 IV. In addition, the image also reveals an NFC logo on the right of the camera island.
Tumblr media
Display and Performance:
The Sony Xperia 1 V is expected to come with a 6.5-inch 4K HDR OLED display with bezels and a 120Hz refresh rate, making it ideal for gaming. The display has an aspect ratio of 21:9 and a touch sampling rate of 240 Hz. The phone will be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC and will have 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. It will run on Android 12.
Camera and Price:
The Sony Xperia 1 V is rumored to come with a triple rear camera setup, equipped with three 12-megapixel Exmor RS image sensors. As for the price, the Sony Xperia 10 IV was priced at $1,599 (approximately Rs. 1,23,500) in the US, and it is expected that the Sony Xperia 1 V will also be priced similarly.

I'm just saying we should be angry as hell at smartphone manufacturers for taking away headphone jacks and removable storage.
Yes Apple started the headphone jack thing, but every other company followed in their stupid ""courageous"" footsteps. Remember when Google first launched the Pixel and lorded about how it still had a headphone jack but then removed it all of a year later when the Pixel 2 launched?
Apple never did have expandable storage, but most other smartphones did. That was a design motif that dated back to the flip phone era. The biggest seller of Android smartphones (or at least the one with most representation on store shelves), Samsung, doesn't even include it in their top of the line devices anymore.
These companies have removed features and forced us to buy them back in one way shape or form, or worse; forced us into inferior experiences as consumers in the case of cheap quality Bluetooth earbuds. And in cases where manufacturers used to offer phones with expandable storage, now the only option is buying the model with more storage capacity, rather than you know, simply buying a micro SD card with exponentially more memory for a fraction of the price. Even OnePlus, whose smartphones are often labeled as "flagship killers" for how their specs and internal components, and whose slogan is literally "Never Settle", caved to the design trends of other brands
As it stands now there's only one major smartphone manufacturer that still sells a flagship smartphone that functions properly in the US (other countries have different antenna bands for 5G and LTE signals than the US does), and still has a headphone jack and micro SD card slot for expandable storage, that's Sony. Whose phones are among the most expensive sold in the US with the Xperia 1 IV having an MSRP of $1599

A Trip to the Botanical Gardens: Part 4
Ok, some more pictures!
Tumblr media
Above are GORGOUS pink flowers with many, many petals. As it says on the sign, these are Symphytum grandiflorum, of Comfrey.
Tumblr media
These purple little friends are Viola wittrockiana, or "Blueberry Thrill" pansies. Absolutely not violets!! At all!
Tumblr media
I regularly take selfies, so you're gonna get selfies of me. It was a really hot day, so I went GIRL that day, so I wouldn't sweat to death. Wore a brand new and super-cute bright red dress with squiggly white lines crisscrossing through in an abstract pattern, accessorized with a white belt to cinch my waist, and a blue/orange abstract-look watercolor-looking face mask.
Tumblr media
I do not know what this purple flower is, it's not quite fully-open, but it's a deep truly-purple color. And also not a violet.
Tumblr media
Are these purple flowers in the above picture truly the Erysimum linifolium "Bowles' Mauve" wallflowers the sign indicates? I mean, "mauve" is in the name, so the answer is likely "yes".
Tumblr media
These little grapey-looking not-yet-fully-bloomed guys are also evidently purple! They make me think of a wisteria tree. I might be wrong, though.
Tumblr media
What are these tall stalky bunches of mysterious purple flowers?!?!?! Probably hyacinths? This is the last picture I'll upload for this set, because the next group will be from within the conservatory!
At this point, it was so hot and sunny, and my camera uses so much power (I have a Sony Xperia 1 IV), that my phone was threatening to overheat, so I really had to try to give it breaks between photos.
This phone does not like summery weather. Note to self: I need a tiny cool bag for it.

Here's a Sneak Peek of Sony's Upcoming Xperia Phones
Tumblr media
While May is usually known for Google's I/O events as well as its Pixel A-series product launches, it's also expected that we'll see new smartphones arrive within this month from Sony's Xperia brand. Sony earlier announced that it will be hosting a special event, which is scheduled to take place on 15th May. With that in mind, we've seen a number of different leaks pop out all over the internet since then, which give us an idea of what to expect with Sony's new phones. With that being said though, most of the leaks so far revolve around the top-of-the-line Xperia 1 VI, and the more budget-friendly Xperia 10 VI. If you're wondering about the middle child Xperia 5 VI, then it looks like we'll have to wait a bit more for further leaks, as not much is known about the 5-series model. With that out of the way though, let's take a look at what we have so far! Xperia 1 VI: Specs and Design First up is the Sony Xperia 1 VI - the phone has been leaked quite a lot lately, with veterans such as Evan Blass sharing several product photos of the device, which unsurprisingly bears a close resemblance to earlier Xperia 1 series models. With that in mind, it seems that Sony is determined to retain the general look and feel of the 1 VI, with the slim top and bottom bezels, rectangular form factor, as well as the triple-array sensor on the rear camera module. Speaking of the camera, it's hinted that Sony might overhaul its mobile camera software for the Xperia 1 VI, in addition to juicy new hardware - the folks over at MS Power User report that the new Sony flagship will pack a a triple-camera setup with an ultra wide angle 16mm lens, a wide angle 24mm lens (48mm with 2X optical zoom), as well as a telephoto zoom 85-170mm lens (up to 7X zoom). Additionally, it's hinted that the 24mm lens features Sony’s “Exmor T for mobile” CMOS image sensor. As for camera software, Sony is expected to replace its “Pro” photo and video functionality with a single camera app, and will supposedly come with features from the company’s Alpha-series cameras. Other hardware details include a hefty audio setup, consisting of a new audio chip and circuit improvements, as well as Hi-Res Audio, Hi-Res Audio Wireless, 360 Reality Audio, LDAC, DSEE Ultimate, and as always, a 3.5mm headphone jack. Sony Xperia 10 VI: Design As for the Xperia 10 VI, the handset's hardware components are still a mystery, although recently-leaked images (also shared by Evan Blass) show us a glimpse of the upcoming smartphone. For one, it will ditch the triple-camera setup on earlier Xperia 10 series phones, and instead will come with a more moderate dual lens setup, similar to the Xperia 5 series. With that aside though, the design also remains the same, with a similar look to the rest of Sony's smartphone lineup, including top and bottom bezels, a mostly rectangular form factor. With that said, we're hoping that it gets an actual upgrade this time, as the Xperia 10 V didn't differ much from the 10 IV aside from a few minor updates to hardware. As such, we're bound to know more in the days and weeks leading to Sony's May 2024 event. Read the full article

Things I've liked and disliked after switching to an Android phone after being an iPhone user for a decade
Like
Having more control over the pictures I take with the camera I have
Being able to sort my imported pictures of my fursonas from my computer a bit better
Being able to emulate console games if I so choose
Having a headphone jack again
Having a dedicated memory card slot for expandable storage
Having a few more accessibility and customization options as far as how the phone does certain things (setting specific custom sound effects for notifications from specific apps)
The customizations for the Firefox app are something I wouldn't trade for the world (being able to install uBlock on there to do largely away with ads while Internet browsing on mobile for one thing)
Having total control over how apps on the home screens are laid out
Dislike
The tightness of iOS' user interface isn't present in using an Android
Very few companies make accessories or cases for the phone I have, which isn't an issue for iPhones
The lack of a native weather app on my device
Apps as I've noticed are a teensy bit buggier on Android than iOS
Android's overall look is a bit less clean and uniform
Camera on this particular device (Sony Xperia 1 IV) has a bit of a learning curve (adjusting shutter speed, white balance, ISO) to get a great picture
Legacy software support for Android devices is nowhere NEAR guaranteed as it is for devices in Apple's ecosystem with most iPhones receiving at least 5 years of software updates and security patches with some Android devices only receiving two (such as the one I'm currently using)
Apple's native Apple Music app can be used to play locally stored music as well as the option to buy an Apple Music subscription to stream music, with the eradication of Google Play Music, most Android devices do not come with native music playing apps with features as sufficient as Apple's and thus if yrou're playing locally stored music, a third party app is the ideal route to take

SOLAR ECLIPSE 2024
Monday, April 8th
Hello, everyone! I'm a couple days late, but I wanted to share a a few photos I took with my smartphone during the solar eclipse!
I DID NOT LOOK DIRECTLY AT THE SUN. All photos were taken by indirectly "looking at the sun" through my camera and phone screen. I am not sure how much better it was that it wasn't sustained looking, it was frequent glances to make sure the lens was facing the correct object an that the zoom was right.
Phone is a SONY Xperia 1 IV. Pictures, below:
Tumblr media
f/2.8, 1/50000, 14.5mm, ISO 125
In this image, surrounded by darkened clouds, my camera focuses on the sliver of the Sun visibly left uncovered by the Moon. The eclipse is a partial solar eclipse, and will never fully cover the sun from where I was located. The clouds look far darker than they actually were in real life, and the Sun's still-powerful light shines through, as if a halo.
Here is the same location, using a different lens, so that you can understand:
Tumblr media
f/2.2, 1/1600, 2.67mm, ISO 125
Using a different lens, you can see the darkened shape and logo for the entrance of a Home Depot hardware store building in the foreground. I'm standing under a small tree in the parking lot, and you can see a few branches on the far left side. Anyway, the day's blue partly-cloudy skies above are significantly darkened by the partially-eclipsed Sun, in the upper middle of the image. It's an extremely bright glowing spot!
I didn't get any cool pictures of cast shadows on the ground, mostly because of the store building having cast the largest shadow of all.
But, I did get a weird photo of the lens flare as the eclipse progressed!
Tumblr media
Once more, using these settings, f/2.8, 1/50000, 14.5mm, ISO 125
In this photo, I tried to get another picture of the eclipse! If I wore borrowed eclipse glasses, I could see the Sun as a small crescent, because it was mostly-covered by the Moon. However, my camera couldn't capture such details very well, and that sliver of light creates a bright round circle of eye-piercing glare, in the middle of the darkened clouds. What is notable is the shape of the lens flare, radiating from that too-bright orb: crescents! The lens flare features two crescents that can be seen: one closer to the Sun that is similar in orientation to the sliver of Sun located to the upper-left of the glare, and a second crescent with a "pink" halo (that appears reflected in orientation), even further to the upper left. The fuzzy, cottony shapes of the surrounding clouds are just visible around the source of the glare, but the rest of the surrounding sky is almost uniformly darkened.
I hope my pictures were interesting! And, I hope my descriptions were helpful. Catch ya later!
