🔝🔝🤩👍 Reposted from @mr_tilford Reading the sad news about Jay Riffe passing away made me want to post this image. My very first freediving suit was a green @riffe_international 3.5mm in 2013 when I did my first @fii_freedive course with Martin Stepanek in Florida. It was comfy, warm and lasted me for ages - when I saw many other peoples suits confined to the scrap heap. I have lived in places in the tropics where spearguns were not permitted (Bahamas, Cayman Islands) so I never got a chance to use what I guess was his most iconic piece of equipment the Riffe Wooden speargun. That was until I visited Hawaii in 2014 and it was the first speargun I ever fired and caught fish with. Reading the obituaries and tribute messages across many social media platforms has shown me what an impact his life and work has had for many divers and spearos across the world. @jordancharlesphotography listened to my advice and his blue suit is still his go to for diving currently, here he is surrounded by a mass of plankton under a @lightandmotiondive light.
