Made a KH shipping chart template for everyone to use, with the characters grouped into columns based on each trio (destiny, wayfinder, sea-salt, twilight, and lost)! Also I couldnt resist filling out the chart myself :) though I might have missed a couple pairings lol

Before we do Day 277, we need to talk about the Rikunami flashback in Day 276, since it is kind of important.

The flashback scene features Naminé talking in the usual 2000s Square Enix vaguese, but basically she is trying to convince Riku to be more open with her, since she has nobody (pun not intended) else to connect to, and her talk about about Xion, and Roxas hanging into their individuality, and how that screws Sora's awakening is also important her doubt about refusing with Kairi to properly restore her.

This ties into Naminé, and Riku's (and to lesser extent, Axel's) characterizations in Kanemaki's novelization of CoM.

This is somewhat important shipping-wise, since we ended original KH2 with Sokai-Rokunami parallel thanks to Nojima, but since Kanemaki already established Rikunami in her novelization (based off Watanabe's final scene for Riku, and Naminé in Reverse/Rebirth part of CoM), and wanted her self-insert OC to have pathos, Days has Rikunami as a sort of beta couple to Rokushi's alpha couple, which is also gender inverted with gamma couple of Sokai, the default ship of the series.

The shipping drama gets complicated because you have some fans shipping Rikushi because of Rokunami ending of KH2, and due to events of Days, and another group of fans shipping Soranami due to CoM. And there is the non-hetero ships, but we are not at the Namixi section yet.

Also, there is Nomura flip-flopping between Rikunami, and Replinami, and it is unclear if he himself is conflicted, or is intentionally trolling the audience.

Shipping drama aside, Naminé states it is theoretically possible for everyone to coexist, but that will take potentially years, and she herself cannot manage, and Xion must get rid of Sora's memories either way, since if they fuse with her memories, taking them out will be more difficult. She prefers both them to be gone as quickly as possible, so Sora can slowly restore the memories of the people who forgot about him.

Frustrated Jacob went over these, but he didn't mention the specifics.

This implies two things, one is that once Roxas is remerged with Sora, Sora's memories would eventually restore itself aside from the complications caused by Naminé (which is the reason why Riku simply does not force Sora's heart into Roxas's body, doing so would cause an improper, and longer reconstruction of his memories*), and the other is that Ansem DiZ wants Sora to awaken as quickly as possible, so he can use him as a tool revenge on Xemnas, and traitorous apprentices (this is consistent with KH2, and earlier parts of Days).

*Of course, the KH2 Final Mix, and all the games up to DDD implies that recompletion with Roxas somehow allowed Sora's memories of CoM to resurface, but DDD ditches this, and KH3 only alludes to this during the starting tutorial with Naminé pinky promise shot. So this remains a dropped plot point for sake of the "Thank Naminé" recurring gag.

As for Riku's own promise to Naminé, it was about protecting Sora, but Naminé clearly implies she wants it to be more than that, for the aforementioned shipping reasons. Riku doesn't particularly care, he is decently happy being the de facto bouncer (since he gets to beat people), especially since he already told Xion to leave the Org., and will be involved in Axel going AWOL in KH2 FM.

Back on my SoraNami/SoNami/Namora/Whatever you want to call it bullshit.

Also, sort of YozNami and there will be angst. You have been warned.

Sora in his new body courtesy of Yozora, finally reunites with Namine and desires to begin courting her. Namine is insistent that he go be with Kairi because his feelings for her which are still present are not real whatsoever due to the fake memories she was never able to 100% change back to normal.

Yosora asks if he’s not getting a chance to decide for himself who he wants to be with in a romantic sense, before continuing that the choice is his and no one else’s.

Yesterday I didn't feel really...okay, so this was originally supposed to be a quick vent. I made this just in 4 hours so this feels weird. I even like it better than most of my vids! Maybe because it's simple and angst-y. Or maybe beacuse while playing kh re:com (the whole kh saga actually) I remembered how I love my lil bby Naminé. Hope you enjoy though!
