The Queen's Last Maundy Service
Tumblr media
OTD
The brooch that the late Queen chose for the Royal Maundy Service in 2019 was a particularly special one from her collection. The platinum brooch, set with white and yellow diamonds, is designed to resemble a sprig of golden wattle gathered with a spray of Australian tea tree blossoms. It was given to the Queen in Canberra in February 1954, during her coronation tour of the Commonwealth, by Prime Minister Robert Menzies on behalf of the Australian government and people.

Tumblr media
These diamond and pearl drop earrings are ultimate classics: absolutely timeless, perfectly versatile, and endlessly useful. The earrings feature a round diamond stud, from which is suspended an additional round diamond and a bell cap set with three more rows of small diamonds. The bell caps each contain a lovely pearl drop. ~ The Court Jeweller

The Duchess also wore a new brooch, suspected to be a piece from Robinson Pelham. A jeweller who also designed the earrings Catherine wore on her wedding day.

Queen Mother's Cartier Bracelets
Tumblr media
The piece dates to the time when the Queen Mother was still the newly-married Duchess of York. In the 1920s, the Duke of York (later King George VI) bought his new wife a set of Art Deco bracelets from Cartier. Each of the five bracelets in the set features a different gemstone: one with sapphires, one with emeralds, one with rubies, and two with diamonds.

Queen Mother’s Amethyst Sautoir Necklace
ON THIS DAY: Queen Elizabeth, the Queen mother died.
Tumblr media
In April, shortly before the wedding at Westminster Abbey, Elizabeth spent a few days with the royal family. There, Queen Alexandra came for lunch. She brought a special wedding present with her: a sautoir necklace of pearls, diamonds, and amethysts, with a large heart-shaped amethyst and diamond pendant.
Tumblr media
The details of the necklace, including the seed pearl chain and the amethysts, have remained the same, though it has been shortened from its original sautoir length

“When Queen Camilla wears a brooch associated with Queen Elizabeth, or even Queen Alexandra or Queen Mary, it underscores the importance of her royal role. But choosing lesser-known heirlooms helpfully avoids direct visual comparison. Delightfully, it also hints at what many of us have long known: that the late Queen’s jewellery collection was incredibly vast, with lots of treasures still waiting to be discovered.”

Princess Anne's antique diamond star brooch
Tumblr media
The brooch has been in Princess Anne’s jewelry collection for more than half a century. She began wearing it around 1970, the year she turned 20.
The brooch is designed as a six-pointed star. One of the star’s points is slightly longer than the others. Six diamond brilliants are arranged around the star on a knife’s edge setting. A second six-pointed star is mounted atop the main portion of the brooch, with a diamond brilliant set in its center. To my knowledge, the provenance of Anne’s star brooch has never been revealed, but its design is typical of pieces from the Victorian era.

Princess Andrew's Meander Tiara
Tumblr media
The term “meander” is another word for the Greek key design that makes up the band of this tiara. No one seems to know precisely when Princess Andrew, who was born Princess Alice of Battenberg, acquired the tiara, but it would make sense that she received a Greek key tiara after marrying Prince Andrew of Greece and Denmark in 1903.
The tiara is made of diamonds, and the Greek key design is punctuated by a central laurel wreath element and two honeysuckle elements.
The tiara was handed over to Princess Anne, who still owns the piece today.
Zara paired her great-grandmother’s tiara with a veil for her Scottish wedding, paying tribute to her lesser-known royal heritage.

New information on Camilla's Enamel brooch
It has been reported earlier than the brooch was a gift from King Charles.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The brooch had been sold by Wartski, a firm with deep connections to the royal family.
The brooch was described by Wartski as “an antique enamel and diamond set brooch,” made in England around 1890. The description added that the brooch was made “of an undulating square of old cut diamonds interwoven with two ribbon like, electric green enamelled gold strands.”
The brooch retailed on the Wartski website for £8,000.

PINK TOPAZ AND SAPPHIRE PENDANT
Tumblr media
The necklace that Camilla wore at the ballet, however, was even more intriguing. The piece featured a pendant with a diamond ribbon, from which two clusters (one set with diamonds and a pink topaz, and the other set with diamonds and a blue sapphire) were suspended. Royal reporter Rebecca English wrote that the necklace “belonged to the late Queen.”

The necklace was photographed worn by Princess Elizabeth of York when she was 8 years old in 1934.

Floral diamond and emerald brooch
Tumblr media
In The Queen’s Jewels, Leslie Field notes that the Queen Mother’s jewelry box includes “two large emerald and diamond brooches.” This brooch, which features a large faceted emerald surrounded by diamonds in a modern floral design, is presumed to be one of the two that Field mentioned. Like several of the Queen Mother’s favorite brooches, this diamond and emerald brooch also features a diamond chain with a pear-shaped diamond drop. Boffer describes the border of this brooch as being composed of “diamond set fleur-de-lys motifs.”
Tumblr media
Many have speculated that this brooch was part of the massive Greville Bequest, a jewelry collection bequeathed to the Queen Mother by Mrs. Greville in 1942, but to my knowledge, we’ve never received confirmation of that provenance. ~ The Court Jeweller
Tumblr media
After the Queen Mother's death; her jewels were left with her daughter and soon after her marriage, Queen Camilla began to wear some of those jewels, including this brooch.

Queen Mother’s Art Deco Topaz Clip Brooch.
Tumblr media
The brooch features diamonds and two shades of golden brown gemstones—either citrines or topazes—set in an Art Deco design typical of the mid-1930s. The top of the piece features a curving diamond-set clip fastener, another feature popular in that period.
The brooch originally belonged to Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, the wife of King George VI and the mother of Queen Elizabeth II.
