is the third or fourth installment of this series gonna be the covid arc?

Well it's currently the beginning of December 2019 and COVID began March 2020, so they're actually not that far away!

COVID will exist, all real-world history has taken place here and the world is functionally the same as ours at that point in time, barring some mystic bullshit going on in the background. (I really want to sneak in a place where Splinter mentions that he was really confused about the Twin Towers being gone and what happened to them when he came up to the surface, because he was canonically in the Battle Nexus when 9/11 happened) This is going to be true up until Draxum gets on his war bullshit.

COVID isn't going to be a huge thing though, just stuff going on in the background that I'll occasionally make references to, like the fact that Trump is still president. I think April makes a joke about how she'd have had to finish out her senior year online anyway, stuff like that. If I do give anyone COVID it'll be more to give them an excuse to not be present for something.
