Magdalena is also known for its beautiful sunrises and sunsets. The small community is nestled at the base of the Magdalena Mountains at an elevation of 6,548 feet. Mines in Kelly helped to make Magdalena a boom town in the 1800's. As the mining boom came to an end, the ranching industry rose to the fore. Starting in the late 1890's to the early 1970's Magdalena was the end of the trail for cattle drives that went as far as Springerville, AZ.

Although it was quite the scenic drive, memories of US 666 still gives the shivers to some, even in an Arizona summer.
"The Devil’s Highway," as it was known, traveled through several states in the Southwest, including our own. In Arizona, US 666 traveled from Douglas to US 66 in Sanders.
According to the May 1934 issue of Arizona Highways Magazine, local leaders petitioned the "Highway Commissioner to draw a resolution to the National Association of State Highway Engineers asking them to designate that section of highway from the Arizona-New Mexico Line West to Zuni Indian Village of New Mexico via., St. Johns, Springerville, Clifton, Safford, and other important points on the Coronado Trail… as U. S. Highway 666." Because it was the sixth designated offshoot of Route 66, that's how it got its official designation.
Over the years, lots of spooky tales accumulated about this picturesque road. One involves a mysterious girl in a white dress, who walks the desolate desert road alone. When motorists stop to offer help, she vanishes. Others swore they'd seen demon dogs with glowing yellow eyes and sharp, jagged teeth. Drivers even reported losing their sense of time and appearing on the road again days later.
After years of negative connotations (and a high rate of road sign theft), US 666 was officially decommissioned nationwide in 2003 (although in Arizona, it was renamed in 1992). If you travel on this roadway today, you’re driving on US 191.

Day 16. Mile 2137. We stop at the Circle K in Springerville AZ to fill up before getting to camp. Diesel fuel is still reasonably priced, although it was cheaper in TX and OK.
Day 16. Mile 2139. At Casa Malpais RV Park. We are looking forward to staying put for 2 nights. Especially after three 1-nite stops at the Air & Space Museum in Weatherford OK, the Big Texan Ranch in Amarillo TX and Santa Rosa Park in Santa Rosa NM.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Camp is unexpectedly nice. The people are friendly. Most are seasonal. We meet Claire in a park model. It looks so small. Turns out it's about 400 square feet, just a little smaller than the park model we're getting for our Florida winter camp. Claire summers here from Phoenix, because Phoenix is so terribly hot in the summer.
We enjoy a Costco prepared dinner. A glass of wine. Well, maybe 2. Air conditioning that works. But we still don't put out the kitchen slide.
Day 17. Mile 2139. A day of work. Thoroughly clean the coach. Everything is moved and all the surfaces are washed. The coach was VERY dusty. The dogs and Larry Barry are moved onto the bed so the floors can be washed. All the linens are changed and washed. Including the dogs linens. The dogs are trimmed and washed and brushed. Everything smells so much better. All the clutter is organized.
Why did I refer to Barry as "Larry Barry" you might ask? Well our good friend, Kathleen calls him that. And it stuck. She calls him that because we call her Kathleen Cynthia. She got this name because when we first met Kathleen, Larry Barry thought her name was Cynthia. So Kathleen is Kathleen Cynthia and Barry is Larry Barry. I'm just Susan.
We enjoy a chicken veggie meal I create trying to use my fresh veggies before they're not so fresh. Yummy, if I do say so myself. For dessert we dive into the assortment of ice cream novelties which Kathleen Cynthia bought for us. So bad. But so good.

Ran up to a small town to adopt my dog. This town is so small that it doesn’t have any chain brand department stores. A couple of gas stations and grocery stores are there. This anqtiue shop/coffee bar is called Junk n Java. Formerly known are Java Blues and in another life is was a bar and grill. Where people that were driving thru could stop in for a drink and bite to eat.

Imagine this: small town America overrun by approximately 200 UTV's and 300 people. A place where deer, elk, wild horses, wolves and hunters roam (do not forget about the bears). Cowboy UP Hay and Ranch Supply, a local feed store is buzzing with customers. The local Walmart is Western Drug and General Store, where you can buy everything from camping supplies to diaper cream. The town feel is welcoming and on a weekend like this, all local stores run out of ice (just a head's up).
The event was held August 19-24, 2020 in Springerville and Eagar Arizona, a place where two towns meet. If you have never been to eastern Arizona it is a must do, especially from the comfort of your UTV. Driving into the area your visual is simple living, 2 lane roads, farmland and rolling hills. The true magic happens when you explore the dirt roads. The views are truly amazing filled with trees, lakes, rivers, rocks and many other mystical hidden things. Old homesteads, dilapidated barns, and rails to fallen corrals speak wild west. The fun of challenges along the trails from fallen trees to mud holes from the storms the night before. Never a boring moment or view to be had...

Vote for Suskityrannus!!!
Suskityrannus vs Maip
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Factfiles:
Suskityrannus hazelae
Tumblr media
Artwork by Andrey Atuchin, written by @zygodactylus
Name Meaning: Hazel Wolfe’s Coyote Tyrant
Time: 92 million years ago (Turonian stage of the Late Cretaceous)
Location: Moreno Hill Formation, Zuni Basin, New Mexico
When you follow the progress of paleontology long enough, you start to see things that were previously left undescribed actually get names and the respect they deserve - whether its the “putative screamer” Anachronornis or the “Zuni Coelurosaur” Suskityrannus, you’re sure to get a nice moment and a sense of satisfaction from it. Suskityrannus has been well known for a while due to it being featured in both When Dinosaurs Roamed America as well as Planet Dinosaur. Thought at various times to be a basal Coelurosaur or Tyrannosauroid, its official description placed it somewhat derived within Tyrannosaurs, showcasing the evolution of the Tyrannosaur group as it transitioned from the smaller more speedy forms (like Suskityrannus) to the giant murder birds we know and love later in the Cretaceous. In fact, Suskityrannus lived in an ecosystem that highlighted its changing world, with many early representatives of the later iconic North American Cretaceous ecosystems showing up in early forms in Moreno Hill. Suskityrannus was about one meter tall and three meters long, and already had many adaptations known from later tyrannosaurs. In the forested coastal ecosystem at Moreno Hill, Suskityrannus would have been neighbors with Zuniceratops, Nothronychus, Jeyawati, ankylosaurs, fish, and turtles.
Maip macrothorax
Tumblr media
Artwork by @i-draws-dinosaurs, written by @zygodactylus
Name Meaning: Long-chested Shadow of Death
Time: 72 to 66 million years ago (Maastrichtian stage of the Late Cretaceous)
Location: Chorrillo Formation, Patagonia, Argentina
Megaraptors, a group not even really understood a few decades ago, just keep having more and more interesting members added to this group - Maip, a recent addition known from many bones of the trunk and tail, help fill out more of this picture with remains not known from other Megaraptors, and als having the most complete Megaraptor skeleton known. Maip was also interesting in having a very long, thick torso, leading to its specific name. It probably reached 9 to 10 meters in length in life, making it the largest Megaraptor known (literally reaching carcharodontosaurid size), and it may indicate that megaraptors rose to high-level predator status as other top predators went extinct in the region. It had a respiratory system similar to modern birds, with unidirectional air flow, much like other Saurischian dinosaurs. Living in southernmost South America, Maip would have had to deal with a variety of harsh climates, and may have been covered in feathers in order to keep warm. In addition to mosasaurs, snakes, turtles, mammals, fish, and frogs, Maip lived with other dinosaurs such as Nullotitan, Kookne, Yatenavis, and Isasicursor.

Day 16. Mile 1935. Originally I'd planned to drive to Springerville via rt 60. With the added issue of a broken hearing aid, we need to go to Costco in Albuquerque. The road to Albuquerque is once again I-40.
Tumblr media
The terrain is changing.
Tumblr media
Dogs are happy when we return from our Costco shopping event. We bought some dinners and other items we can't live without (as my Uncle Larry often says). Now, where to put it all?
Barry's hearing aid is being sent out for repair. When we return to Albuquerque in October, we'll pick it up. Patience in the meantime.

So, after talking to my bf Matthew about fursonas and such, I decided to FINALLY design myself some, based off ideas that I had in mind many years ago x3 The first of these fursonas is Samira, who is loosely based on my Skyrim Khajiit character and has a few of my IRL weaknesses, but also has traits which I wish I had, such as being adventurous and brave. Samira's Bio: Full Name: Samira Dyani Nickname: Sami (disliked nickname from parents and friends) Species: Maine Coon/Havana Brown Cat Hybrid; Samira's appearance is based on the anatomy of a Maine Coon cat e.g. pointy ears, rounded face and her fur colours are based off the Havana Brown cat breed Gender: Female Sexuality: Bisexual Birth Date: 15th November 1993, Scorpio. Ironically, Samira's Zodiac corresponds with some of her personality traits; bravery, fierceness and ambitious nature. Family: Samira was raised by her parents in the small town of Springerville. Her mother, Ananaya, works as an archaeologist and her father, Durjoy, works as a craftsman. Occupation: Adventurer/Hunter Relationship: Prefers to be Single Nationality: Samira was born in the town of Springerville, on the outskirts of the Apache–Sitgreaves forest, located in Arizona. Personality: Samira is a brave, fierce and ambitious individual who enjoys going on long hikes in the nearby Apache–Sitgreaves forest. When she was a child, Samira's parents often took her out for camping trips and helped to teach her survival skills, which she religiously uses to this day whenever she goes hiking. Traits: Daring, independent, adventurous, curious and reckless Fears/Weaknesses: Samira is a risk-taking, highly stubborn and socially awkward individual. Talents: Archery, well trained in survival skills, foraging, hunting (when necessary for food) and stealth Weapon/s of Choice: Bow and arrow, as once described by Obi Wan Kenobi as "a more elegant weapon, from a more civilized age. not as clumsy as a pistol" Favourite Food: As a feline, Samira enjoys her fair share of meat, but will also eat fruit, berries and plants during her hikes, making her an omnivore. Her favourite food overall is pork ribs, specifically those cooked by her mother. Credit to for the body template/back view Samira (c) Me

The Best Bachelor Party Strippers From Hunks & Babes
It has always been popular to hire strippers for a bachelor party. This is what they do to show how much guys care about their friends or relatives when they are about to get married. For many guys, it is a normal occurrence and they are always looking for the right company to hire strippers from when they are in need of one for a good girls party. Introducing Hunks & Babes for finding just the right stripper for the occasion.
Hunks & Babes Entertainment Arizona
This is a company that manages over 1,000 strippers. With close to 20 years of experience in the field, they can be trusted to employ the right dancers for all types of events like bachelor parties. The company is known for the right hiring practices and they ensure that their dancers are the best in the industry. They also make ordering their strippers very easy.
Beware that other companies in this industry do not practice this procedure. Many of them will leave up old photos of dancers who no longer strip. Consequently, it falsely appears as if they have more strippers. Hunks and Babes believes in honest communication with the customer and sets clear expectations with the type of service you need.
We are constantly hiring strippers with experience in AZ. At this point we may have more strippers available. So order online today!
Order Dancers For Your Event In Advance
The longer you wait to hire strippers for your event, the fewer choices you would have. Don't wait until the last minute to book a dancer because most of them might be already reserved by then. You should rent them in advance to avoid the last-minute rush. Keep a deposit so that you have access to the sexiest guys for your event. Don't wait for too long because you won't be able to plan a great  guys party at the end.
Hire Great Strippers
Make sure you hire the best strippers in the industry for your event. They should be incredible. Not all strippers who dance at private events are great. All of them don't have incredible bodies. Most of them are not charming, talented, and fun to be around.
If you want the best dancers to perform at your guys party, you should hire them through Hunks & Babes Entertainment. This is the best place to find exotic dancers for your boys party. That's why you need to work with this company.
Give The Performers Special Instructions
One advantage of hiring private dancers for your event is that you could give them extra instructions. For example, if the woman of honor is a shy individual, you should let the stripper know about it. The stripper will find ways to coax the lady out of her shell.
If you have a specific song you would like the stripper dance to or you want the dancer to wear a specific color, you are free to make such requests. You should make sure to have the time of your life when organizing the bachelorette party.

Northern Arizona Wolves Attack Tourists
Approximately 1000 coyotes have been killed in northern Arizona this year, according to a statement given out here today by M.A. Musgrave of the federal biological survey, who has charge of measures in this state for control of predatory animals.
Musgrave declared predatory animals in Arizona did $2,000,000 worth of damage to livestock each year. Musgrave was here on his way to Springerville to investigate the existence of a band of timber wolves, said to have attacked a party of Chicago automobile tourists a few days ago.
