The monsters are unusually restless.

It's not hard to rile the creatures in the Xagut Floodmeadow up. By default, everyone seems amped up to eleven, ready to attack at the slightest provocation... but this is different. Not a wayward traveller or a caravan attempting to brave it's way through the beaten path, nor a lost child from Nia Khera racing in after a missing pet. It's all too far in - the only people he ever sees come this far are herb hunters from Xian Du, and even they rarely leave the shoreline.

This is something strong. Deadly. The monsters growl and roar about a beast, but the word is mixed with man and it sends a shiver down his spine. There's something... strong out there.

The swampminder rises from the water's edge, twisting around to stare across the gentle rise and fall of the land. It's not hard to see where it is, the monsters are alternating between fleeing and racing towards the intruder. Normally, one is enough, but packs are rising from their hollows. There's a turf war breaking out when certain monsters cross through other's territory, everyone wants a piece of this.

Fleeing crosses his mind. He should. He has half a mind to twist around and bolt off into the thickest part of the swamp, hide in the bog until the danger leaves - but he can't do that. A familiar howl rings out and he starts at a run, flying quickly and quietly over the unsteady ground.

"Stop right there!"

He might be more animal than man at a glance. Covered in thick furs, drenched in mud and blood and god only knows what else from the swamp over the years. Ivar is skinny and wild, there's even a half-start to a growl in his throat.

☂: What is your favourite kind of weather?

Mild temperature, somewhere in the mid 70′s (Fahrenheit) when the wind is blowing gently and the sun is mostly hidden behind clouds. I guess you could say overcast? but only when the humidity isn’t very high.

●: If you could say just one thing to your Muse, what would it be?

Just be honest with your dad and tell him you want to stay. He wants to hear you say it, darn it!

✉: Are there any RPers you admire/are inspired by?

Definitely, especially in this fandom. It’s really hard to not be inspired by so many muns who absolutely adore their muses (even if some of them are pains in the asses), and that’s one of the main things that draws me to this community. Your passion for Kvar and the Grand Cardinals and really the whole game is something that I admire, for example. 

@ninthcompanion definitely gets a mention because as I say over and over again, if I had never seen her blog, this blog would not have existed. Her and @lightning-of-kharlan’s threads continue to motivate me to improve my writing so I can write at their level. I mean, the way they play off of each other in their long threads is amazing to me. It’s like watching two authors contributing to a book or something. XD Gosh, there’s so many more to mention, and I’m probably going to forget a lot of people, so I’m going to list 5 more off the top of my head: @broadswordandpistol, @guardianofmana, @annaixving, @aethear, @mithosofcruxis. I love seeing these guys on my dash. They have made their muses theirs, and it really shows. But honestly, all of you guys are an inspiration! *just high fives you all*

✤: What is your favourite kind of food?

I enjoy pretty much any dishes with fish (which is why it hurts me to live in the Midwest because the fish around here is quite frankly insulting). As for a type of cuisine, I gotta stick to my roots and say Filipino food even though I rarely have the opportunity to cook it. Filipino Menudo is especially good, and ever since I experimented with making it in the Crock-Pot, it’s been quite a life changer.

Actually I just realized I have one for this as of today. And I’ll preface this by saying that I could be totally wrong and just scuba-diving for meaning. I’m also again taking the manga chapters into consideration since we don’t know anything else about how he became affiliated with both Cruxis and the Renegades. I’ve said in a previous post, I don’t imagine he’s much older than 13-15 when Pronyma approached him. And knowing what he knows about the Chosen and how it’s passed on to the next one… Yeah.

That’s about ten years of hanging around in limbo, wanting to give everything you have to someone else because you seriously don’t like yourself.

I see a lot of people saying that to get the Zelos path, you have to be a dick and basically shove everyone else down in order to get his affections up. And I don’t think that’s the case. You do have to neglect some of their events and favor him considerably, but it’s not about being an ass.

To win Zelos’ affections in game, you have to be pragmatic. You have to treat new people with suspicion, and then once they’ve become a part of your group, you have to defend them and fight for them. In doing so, you show to him that everyone is treated with the same hesitation before being welcomed into the fold.

No matter what you do in the narrative, the party always treats Zelos with  a degree of suspicion. There is no way to shake this, they all treat him like an outsider - and to be honest, they’re in the right to, because he is betraying them with every word that comes out his mouth.

Zelos is fixated on dying.  Maybe not now, maybe not later - but eventually, the title of Chosen is going to Seles. No matter what way you slice it, he intends to clear the path so that Seles can take his place. He believes Seles - and soon after, Colette - to be superior to him. And he spends the vast majority of the game waffling on what side he wants to go on, what side is gonna win, what side is going to benefit his cause more.

Does he believe in the hopeless dreamers, or does he believe in the god that has promised him his heart’s desire? It’s a tough call, because one hand promises hope and the other promises finality.

Zelos is jealous of what the party has.

To win his affections you also have to prove that you can see through his facade and realize that there’s a lot more going on in that pretty head than he’s letting on. Everything you say that says you take notice of him - the real him - means something to him. Going deliberately out of your way to reach out to him and show him that there are people out there that can still care and can still see him for all of him - not the grinning, doofus chosen, but the sullen, self-loathing traitor - and still give him the same unconditional love and trust that everyone else has.

Lloyd in skits tends to affirm that he trusts Zelos as well as an afterthought. And it’s not malicious or anything, Lloyd’s just not that quick on the uptake or on other people’s feelings.

So with all of this said, I actually feel that in Symphonia 2, the Zelos path being canon makes the most sense for Zelos’ characterization.

It could all be meaningless drivel and I am not at all excusing the fact that he’s a backstabbing mess of a person who would sell out his best friends to get what he wants.

Like - Zelos is not trustworthy, at all. He’s playing so many different games with so many different people and it’s abundantly clear. His worst traits are jealousy, cowardice, being a hypocrite, being judgmental, and playing hard and fast with people’s trust and feelings. I’d never deny that he’s got some of the worst traits in the game, but I don’t think that’s he’s a bad person at heart. Just one with a very fickle heart that needs to see some very specific things before he opens up.

But once that trust is gotten? You can’t lose it. No matter what.

The living area of the Ranch had taken the longest to restore, but it had finally reached some semblance of livable. Sitting on the beaten old up old couch, Forcystus is content to have a good sleep.

Up until Kvar steps into the room. He cracks his eye open and sits up, there’s rum on his breath. It’s the season of tricks and if Kvar’s dead set on bothering him and keeping him alive, he’s due for a few dozen tricks.

"Hey, Kvar," he grabs the other man’s wrist. "I really appreciate all you’ve done for me."

And with that he yanks him down into a kiss.

"Don’t suggest such things Pronyma, I thought this outfit would suit me best of all the clothes presented," Kvar said in a condescending corrective tone, but waved his hand around while speaking.

"Technically none of the outfits are perfect in that sense, but I believe I should wear this as I am the most capable in this one." Kvar said while moving his arm ever so slightly - only to scowl. It really didn’t fit and it was awkward to move in compared to his usual presentation of himself.

"Why not?" the ends of her lips turned up into a smirk. "You have a lean enough body to dress up in drag efficiently." Oh, it was so fun to tease him. They had, after all, known each other for a long time prior to becoming coworkers.

"More capable? You appear to be having just as a difficult time maneuvering in it as me. Or is it your pride that's just talking?" she pointed out with a finger, despite the weight of the fabric making her arm feel heavy.
