So I’d thought I’d do a bit more theorizing/speculation on how we might be seeing Super Robot Wars Y handle/adapt Gundam Witch From Mercury. Particularly for anyone unfamiliar with SRW games but might be curious to see Suletta and co. pal around and kick ass with various other giant robot pilots.
To begin with what is actually a pretty major change for G-Witch’s story; there is almost certainly NO way that Suletta and co. will actually be hanging around Astecaccia for any extended length of time. For those unfamiliar with SRW games, the general thru-line of the story has the various casts of character traveling around on a spaceship or three to various locations to adapt various parts of their individual stories. Which can often mean massively changing the locations of many events. Which means that nobody really every stays put in one place for too long.
If I had to guess how we might see this play out; I imagine our Original Generation Main Characters visit Astacaccia along with their initial cross-series allies (given that G-Witch is THE big debuting series for Y, this will definitely be happening very early in the game) right around the time Suletta starts attending. Heck, Suletta might even be hitching a ride with the MCs and get a chance to help them out in an unrelated battle or two even before the proper start of her series. Either way, this gives the player the chance to play out Suletta’s first duel against Guel and ensuing engagement with her future wife, with the rest of the cast as audience.
Following this, I imagine our MCs and their allies get involved in the ensuing fracas of Suletta getting arrested, as well as likely getting involved with whatever shenanigans go down in Suletta’s second duel with Guel.
And following that, I imagine we’ll see Suletta properly join/be inducted into the growing ‘save the world’ team of mecha pilots quickly forming around our MCs. Probably at the ‘suggestion’ of Prospera. Suletta is also at first worried about what Miorine might think of all this, but Miorine takes one look at an excuse to leave Astacaccia and maybe even go to Earth and basically goes ‘FUCK YEAH! When can we leave?’ They also somehow rope Earth House in to go with them as Suletta’s support team.
Now this raises the interesting question of how exactly the subsequent duels will be played out?
Well I imagine we are going to see the other duels against Elan and later Team Shaddiq happen ‘on the road’, with any prospective Holders having to essentially track Suletta down wherever she might be with her new team in order to challenge her. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if we see either or even both of Suletta’s duels against Piel and Grassely get folded into other ongoing plotlines, such as G-Gundam’s Gundam Fight. In particular, I have to imagine Shaddiq’s Team-Duel is going have at least a few additional twists, given how unlike in canon, Suletta is going to have several, VERY capable friends and allies to bring into that fight.
Heck, we could even see additional challengers and duels for Suletta. Like maybe we see some of those nameless jobbers from the opening slaughter-montage of Season 2 make some early appearances? Whereas Elan and Shaddiq get dedicated stages for their duels, maybe these guys just show up as elite mooks in some other random stage to challenge Suletta? Which in turn could lead to fun interactions like these challengers getting taken out by your other pilots because Suletta really doesn’t have time for a duel at the moment.
By a similar token, I imagine the events of G-Witch’s Season 1 finale will likely be tweaked and retooled a fair bit. Now don’t get me wrong, the broad strokes of the season finale will almost certainly remain the same: Suletta and Miorine having their big love affirmation moment before getting separated by an attack, Suletta debuting Aerial Rebuild and battling it out with Sophie and Norea, Miorine being reunited with her father only to see him get gravely injured, ‘The Slap’, I think we’re definitely going to be seeing all of those in one form or another.
Rather, I imagine the backdrop and framing of all those events are likely going to be changed up a fair bit. As in, folded into a few other major story events from both the OG plotline and probably one or two of the other mech series’. Basically, Witch from Mercury is pretty assuredly going to be one of the main, central plotlines of SRW Y, so I’d say it’s a very safe bet that Suletta getting her big mid-season upgrade is likewise going to be a major event tying into multiple other plotlines.
Like I mentioned that we’ll still probably see Suletta battle Sophie and Norea, but honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if Aerial Rebuild’s debut has her and Suletta throwing down with the main OG Rival and/or Big Bad. Or at the very least, said OG villain gets to be the demonstration dummy for Aerial’s new GUND-BIT Cannon.
Finally, given that SRW Y seems to only be including Season 1 of G-Witch, I wouldn’t be surprised if we end up seeing some story and character elements actually get expanded on in ways that didn’t happen in the show. Just the fact that we will certainly be seeing traveling and seeing Earth in detail, particularly considering the overlap with G-Gundam, gives a LOT of potential. It certainly wouldn’t be the first time a Super Robot Wars game has done something like that.

So, I dunno, thoughts about Witch from Mercury (including spoilers under readmore, so, y'know), because it seems like it's a cool thing to do, i guess. Maybe made more or less interesting because this is the first Gundam series I've actually paid full attention to.
In short, it's good! It's very good. But, I dunno, can't give it top marks as an alltime favorite. There are lots of superficial problems that probably mattered much more to me than they would to the average viewer, and like, you could argue that they just aren't even problems, I guess.
The biggest thing I can criticize without spoiling much of anything is that it dangles a lot over your head and then waits a long time to resolve almost any of it. It's tough for people who get anxiety, like me : ). No, that's not why I'm writing this post. This isn't a coping mechanism. Fuck off.
To reiterate, though, on the whole: good. Good show. Good stuff. Don't click "keep reading" unless you want to read a fucking novel, OK?
I have to say I think the strongest character of the show bar none is Prospera, but at the same time, she showcases the recurring problems I have with the show: firstly, that they spend way too long making Prospera sound sinister without you understanding at all why, and secondly, that it's a real shame we didn't get to learn more about her feelings and why (and how?) she'd gone to all of this trouble. I understand her goal in the abstract is to "create a world where Eri can exist", but it's not clear how exactly she intends to do that, and maybe it's just me, but those practical details can be really important in selling me on an idea.
Even so, I adore her. I adore the way she possesses so much influence over the plot despite having very little economic or political power herself - she just understands people, she understands what's at stake, and she understands how to manipulate things to get what she wants. I was so delighted to learn about her true motivation, imagine a girl kicking her feet and squealing as Prospera taunts Miorine about hearing the voices of her past that are urging her to seek vengeance. I wish she could have done more. I also wish she looked better. That helmet fucking sucked, dudes. C'mon.
I really want to say kind things about Suletta and Miorine, too - they had lovely character arcs in both seasons, Miorine in particular was a joy to have on screen at all times - but, ultimately, I also found them both very frustrating. The most engaging members of the cast by and large were side characters, my personal favorites being Chuchu, Nika, and Norea. (I guess Guel turned out pretty okay too.) It was a joy watching Norea go off the fucking deep end, even if her portrayal was a little shallow until it was a smidge too late; her final fight was beautiful and touching, especially the part where she went on a massive rampage and killed a lot of innocent people. I love me a hot girl who's a violent mass murderer.
Jokes aside; I found both of the main characters frustrating, but for different reasons. Suletta was the less frustrating of the two. Throughout season 1 I kept cringing at her total powerlessness within the narrative, which I know is kind of the point, but that doesn't mean I have to like it; at least in season 2 she develops a thin veneer of agency, and more to the point, the writers demonstrate that her lack of actual agency is in fact horrifying and not some kind of endearing country-bumpkin quirk, but it feels like it takes a long time before she can finally actually engage in the world she lives in.
To be clear, I don't just mean "she can decide for herself what she wants to do", that's her final arc, I know, I get it; more what I mean is, it feels like Suletta exists in a totally different show, an entirely different setting, for 75% of the show's runtime. She's not just clueless about all of the business politics and Earth vs Space racism; she's immune to it, it simply doesn't affect her, even when it badly hurts people she cares about, because she's unable to comprehend it, and can abstract away any threat behind Aerial's cockpit and duel herself to safety without ever understanding what was even at stake.
It's like Ender's Game but Ender himself never actually participates in any of the school politics, he just kinda is a prodigy in his own corner while the real story happens around him. If you're going to create a character who is powerless in the narrative, don't then shield her in the cockpit of a Gundam for the entire show, you know? If you're going to threaten me with her inability to understand what is going on, make good on that threat!! It just felt wasteful. She spent 16 episodes being a joke that we keep hoping will make Miorine smile, 2 episodes being depressed, and then the last 6 episodes being an actual character, and the tragedy is that I really liked that character and wish she'd been around for longer.
Miorine was much more fun, but also, much more frustrating. I wasn't especially into her character early in season 1, but she was at least a bitch in a fun (and highly sympathetic) way, and unlike Suletta she grew into a real character very fast, and got to spend the whole show actually having a meaningful impact on events around her. It was great! I have a few very small gripes about things she does - like the way she chooses to cut Suletta loose. I understand she's doing it for Suletta's safety, and I understand she's doing it because she believes Suletta won't be able to comprehend that reasoning - after all, their whole arc in season 1 was about depending on each other, and Miorine is being pressured into going back on her promise.
On the one hand, though, I feel like it was weird of her not even to try. At least try to explain to Suletta, listen, things are getting worse, you are going to get hurt, I don't want that, I need you to stop being Holder for your sake. You could even twist the knife further by having Suletta react with heartbreak but willingly agree when Prospera doubles down and tells her to do as Miorine says - imagine how betrayed and disgusted with herself Miorine would feel! For them to leave her completely in the dark, for her to fully betray Suletta with no warning and no attempted justification at all - and especially for Suletta to not question that - it just felt weird.
On the other hand, though, I'm really shocked and disappointed that Miorine didn't express more guilt over that decision. Given that her arc in season 1 revolves around recognizing that relying on Suletta is what makes Suletta happy, and she cares enough about Suletta to give her that kind of trust, you can't tell me that - even if she really believes it's necessary - she can just turn around and betray Suletta like she does and feel no remorse over it.
Overall this is a larger problem I have with Miorine; we don't get enough time with her feelings, so when everything finally collapses and she has a meltdown, it doesn't sell very well. I wanna be clear: I'll open the door myself is one of my favorite moments in the whole show, and that's why I'm sad. It could have been so much more, if we had had more time to see Miorine's heartache over what she did to her best friend, not to mention how tense and uncertain she must have been handing her full trust to Prospera, or leading a negotiation to Earth with the weight of Gundam's history resting squarely on her shoulders. I love cool, calm, reserved characters who can handle tense interpersonal conflict with a stern decisiveness. Miorine should be a slam dunk for me. But the best part about those characters is seeing behind the mask, even if only for little bits at a time, and there's just not enough.
Honestly, though, it's hard for me to hold anything against season 2 especially, because I think most of what frustrates me comes down to there not being enough time, and holy fuck, does that season go hard. I'm very ready to believe that there was all kinds of stuff cut from S2 because the sheer volume of things happening was so much. It's a shame to think that it's let down by its own density, that there was just too much happening to fit all of it into 12 episodes without a few things being left behind. There wasn't time for Miorine to introspect, there wasn't time for Miorine and Suletta to develop their relationship, there wasn't time for Prospera to get even more unhinged and weird, there wasn't time to examine how we could actually improve the world and its troubles, we just had too much to do. It's an unenviable position to be in, and I think it's fair to say the show does a great job with what it has.
Umm. Is there anything else? I could talk about the dudes. I could gush about Norea and Sophie, I guess, but I doubt I have anything particularly interesting to add there, I'm sure the takes "Norea is hot" and "I wish they could have been more toxic yuri on screen" are lukewarm at best. I could talk about Eri, I suppose, but I don't feel really strongly about her - I think she's weird, her presence as a character is very strange, the fact that she was a protagonist is weird, and just like with everything else, I think it comes down to a lack of time to be able to really get into understanding her. I can't say it's a mistake, really, so that'll just stay a mystery, and it's one I don't especially care to solve anyway. She can stay a weirdo for all I care.
Uh, I think that's kinda all? Oh, what, robot designs? Uh, Aerial over Calibarn, don't @ me. They're both sick tho.
#gundam#mobile suit gundam#witch from mercury#it's really funny how ellie couldn't wait like ONE day to reblog that srw wfm theories post. like really honey#it's okay though with full context yeah that's all pretty accurate#and like. realistically. what was spoiled even. like she said; the big space laser had to show up eventually#OH shit there was one other thing! Uhh I think it's a fucking crime everyone wants to make Suletta kinda masc coded.#Hyperfemme Suletta from the ED animation was a fucking goddess. The announcement yesterday gave me so much brainrot so here are some SRWY predictions/theories that will see how it ages once the full roster is announced ✨
-More of a assumption but due to production I get the vibe shows from last year don’t have a shot getting into the base roster depending on dev time, any newly added shows are def any in 2021-2022, maybe a couple squeezed in from 2023 but not as likely as the other two as I assume development for this started late 2022-early 2023. That being said, I feel like it will be a crime if Bravern isn’t here given it’s still big japan even now with how many ads it’s in, plus it came out early 2024 that adding it in as dlc still seems possible. A shame it’s not in the base roster but it’ll definitely give the dlc a reason to sell.
-Other stuff like Grendizer U I would like to see in SRW (despite still not watching it) but being in July means it’s probably a bit too late for even dlc so we maaaay need to wait for the next srw. That being said I’m curious what they’ll use to rep mazinger as I personally can’t see Infinity coming back a third time- maybe will get Mazinkaiser or shin? (Pipe dream is SKL but that’s SADLY not happening)
-Interestingly Gwitch is only labeled as season 1 which does lineup to the theory of 2023 shows are probably being excluded as well though my friends who seen Gwitch saids season 2 has more stuff going on- it’s still odd if season 1&2 were considered two series entries or if season 2 was made as dlc-that would be a bit much-but maybe this is POSSIBLY hinting at this next SRW will be a continuous trilogy of games rather the a new universe each time ala the Z games? So s2 will be adapted on the next “Y” game. (Though saying Y2 gonna sound pretty weird lol) Overall I’d take this over gwitch season 2 being dlc or not included at all or weirdly being considered it’s own series even if it does make it to base roster I just don’t know how likely this’ll be
-in terms of “‘new stuff that’s for sure not making it” Gqux (I’m shortening all the Us sorry) would be cool to see but it’s still not fully out and it’ll probably be out ONCE this game is close to release, so sadly it probably doesn’t have a shot of being even dlc but there’s at least next game! The new Rayearth show also definitely up there in “better luck next time” as we still don’t have anymore news on that, but the girls were in T and 30 back to back so I think they can sit out for awhile
-Gridman has not been confirmed to be one of the returning units from 30 YET but I think it be criminal not to bring it back if only for the fact they could use the sequel Dyanzenon as a paired unit with it- though I haven’t seen either but I do hope Dyanzenon is used at all cause logically it makes the most sense after Gridman got into SRW at all
-It’s too early to know if they’re being back arma AGAIN but I think arc should be standalone and we can go another game without the big 3 needing to be a thing as getter wasn’t even in X, interestingly we haven’t seen mazinger or OG gundam rep in this trailer but they probably will be here as they’re more of stables then getter sadly. I think it be more interesting if a new big 3 was formed out of other protags especially if arc and gwitch decide to go with a theme of the new generation passing the torch though I think T already did something similar? I have a lot of general wants for how arc is going to be in this game but the main hope is that for this game ryoma can stay out for once (if they make him a enemy unit as emperor I’ll be GIGGLING but I understand completely if they don’t even touch the end of arc)
-Finally to end off with my delusional hopes ✨ if shin jeeg or big o return at all I’ll be excited. I know it’s not happening, please don’t make fun of me I know even jeeg being dd doesn’t mean shit, but I’m putting these here anyways as they’re my pipe dream roster hopes.
That is all I can think of for now but feel free to add your own in reblogs or comments.
#meg text#super robot wars#srw#super robot wars y#srwy#predictions#yall don’t realize how excited I am for this game just because the entire roster so far looks so promising#and the fact there’s more to be shown rather then it all being dumped at once makes the speculating even better#even if it can lead to huge disappointments because yes I KNOW THE LAST TWO WONT HAPPEN BUT LET ME DREAMMM#arc finally being freed from dd is enough for me but I feel I’ll need to watch Gwitch before this drops#my watching g Gundam beforehand came at a good time lmao#I really plan on playing it if it’s easier to access though I have no idea if it’ll be available on English switch shops#steam it’s for certain though and it’s probably better if I use my computer to play#hopefully I just have money by then or it comes out during my bday lol

A thought comes to mind when playing SRW 30.
In the event that Ernie shows up, one of the characters comments that he seems to be taking being in another world rather well.
While this can partly be attributed to him being Isekai-ed, I'd like to propose another theory:
The reason he takes it so well is because, from the moment he makes his appearance in game, he is fully aware he's in an SRW universe.
Back during his life as Kurata, it's likely he played SRW games religiously, so I'm fairly certain he is fully capable of recognizing when he's in one.
And if he had any doubts, they would have been completely resolved the moment he saw that one of the robots just so happens to be a Huckebein.
tl;dr, Ernesti is fully aware he's in an SRW plot over the entire course of the game.

Chaos Theory Primer
WHAT IS THIS:
An AU of an AU.
Once upon a time, I came up with a fighting game AU, where a bunch of series I like crossover. While this involves plenty of logistically questionable mechanics/character movesets, it also involves a story and Lore (TM)
Eventually, I decided to turn that fighting game AU into a story. As I am still on Act 1 of 3 and it’s been a year or two since the previous part, you can tell that that is going swimmingly. But, I got the idea for DLC for this AU. Eventually, as I picked up some new interests, and got deeper into the lore side of things, this escalated into what I like to call a “side B/Reverse-Side” of the AU: It’s still got the same fundamental key elements (with some new ones thrown in) but it’s gotten far beyond that: More SRW than fighting game, so to say.
Will I actually be writing this?
I dunno. I’ve got enough fics that I should be working on but aren’t. This project is just as much to unload the concepts in my head as it is to have it out there in some form. One could also argue that it’s also a bit much for a mediocre fanfic writer to handle.
If I get any particular ideas that I got an itch to write (I do have one idea in the wings, in fact) then I’ll definitely go for it.
But as is, think of this as more of a frame work. Maybe something akin to a TTRPG setting or something.
THE PLOT:
There is an overaching plot to Chaos Theory, as well as three different throughlines. Said throughlines aren’t fully thought out in regards to how they interact with the main plot so how it all shakes together at this point in time is… not too developed (cue AUs of an AU of an AU).
The overarching plotline revolves a mysterious space known as The Fantasy World or Minus World. This space twists and warps, creating new realms or shortcuts into existing ones. The result is a labyrinth, and later an “ocean” of structures such as shrines. This is due to the space being a hotbed for various types of energy, such as Star Power, Moon Power and especially Chaos Power.
Through some method, a warlock by the name of Xande found himself in the labyrinth. Seeking to recover his immortality, Xande began toying with the energies at play. While he was fruitless in directly making use of it, he came to understand the nature of the Chaos Emeralds, the Master Emerald and the space-time abilities of the rings. Thus, Xande began to experiment with the rings in hopes of drawing the emeralds to him.
Perhaps by fate, perhaps by coincidence, two parties found themselves within the labyrinth: The Warrior of Light, his four vassals and one of their allies, all of whom stood opposed to Xande previously, and an organization from the World of Darkness known as “World’s Eye” who bear similarities to the “Dark Cloud tribe”, a group of cloud-like aliens who control and corrupt planets, their callsign being their leader’s singular crimson eye.
However, not knowing of Xande’s presence, the two forces assumed that the other was up to some neferious plot. In the end, the Warriors of Light attempted to use Chaos Power against World’s Eye. However, it backfired and the four vanished. At the same time, five new structures arose in the Fantasy World: A treasure filled dungeon, a scholar castle, a lava-filled weapons forge, a manor atop a massive mountain range and a tower made of crystal, the lattermost of which creating a sea of light that makes entry towards it difficult, if not near impossible. One could also see massive airships flying around the space...
To make matters worse, Xande caught wind of his enemies being in the labyrinth and was able to secure biocells from them to create clones to search the world for anything useful. Mostof the clones are focused on their objectives, but other clones seem to be more self-interested. Then there are those that are so independent that it’s questionable if they came from Xande...
Time passes. Word soon spreads of the mysterious “Minus World”. Eventually it catches the attention of certain people. Some are explorers, such as Mag Launcher and Linear Cannon from Pannam Town or Rock Volnutt of the Skylands. It also catches the attention of power hungry people in high places, such as King Bowser of the Koopa Kingdom of Dr. Robotnik of the Eggman Empire. Some people enter for their own personal missions, such as Alex Kidd (& Stella!) of Radaxian, who enters in pursuit of the Bloom; A greedy star who has stolen the stars of planet Aeries. And finally, there are those who find themselves in the labyrinth purely by accident.
With so many people in such a place, chaos inevitably follows...
The three other plotlines/throughlines are as follows:
Plot A: A greedy Star known as the Bloom is absorbing all of the stars in the universe. When Planet Aries’ stars are absorbed, Alex and his good friend Stella set forth into the Fantasy World in order to stop it. But the Bloom isn’t the only villain who has their eyes to the stars…
Plot B: The age of Adventure is alive and well as all manner of diggers and adventurers strive to uncover the lost secrets of ancient civilizations. When the Launcher Clan (Mag Launcher and Linear Cannon) and Rock Volnutt find themselves in the labyrinth, they begin to discover a link between the ever present rings and Chaos Energy. Of course, while navigating the strange new world and unlocking the secrets, they’ll have to contend with ancient mechanisms, imperial forces and sky pirates and even secrets from their pasts...
Plot C: The odd interdimensional nature of the Labyrinth leads to some unforeseen results. When Kirby & Klonoa find themselves at an intersection between awakening and dreams, the two become fast friends. However, they quickly discover a threat that puts the dreams of all in jeopardy and the two set off to protect all good dreams everywhere. However, a certain Wizard is lurking in the shadows and is determined to make Klonoa’s greatest dream into a Nightmare of a reunion…
INVOLVED SERIES:
This rank has three categories to it; “Definitely” means that I envision it as a staple part of the AU. “Maybe” means that, had I been writing this for real, the series probably or probably not would’ve stayed. “Probably” just exists for the game that I want to include but haven’t actually played yet.
Definitely: Mario, Sonic, Kirby, Evolution/Evolutia, Mega Man**
Probably: Skies of Arcadia/Eternal Arcadia***
Probably Not: Pokemon, Legend of Zelda, Madou Monogatari* ***
* Probably the least likely on that list, but I’m putting it there anyway.
** The original AU this is based on had X as the Mega Man series in question. For Chaos Theory, it has been swapped to Mega Man Legends.
*** Have not played at the time of this writing.

Time for Chapter 2! But first,
Pre-Chapter 2 Upgrades:
Excellence Cosmodriver
HP: 3800 -> 3990 Armor: 950 -> 997 Weapons: 0 -> 1
We enter Chapter 2 with 6500 left over, as i didn't really feel like spending more just yet.
I also gave everyone a Repair Kit (as we had 4), Amuro and Raul a Propellant Tank (recovers all EN, given to them even though both have ways of recovering EN otherwise since the Fairies and the Mega Beam Cannon are important to have online often), and Bright and Kayra get the 2 Cartidges (recovers all Ammo).

Making mecha designer small talk with Mizuho, Amuro asks about the Excellence and its modular nature. Mizuho says that she went with that type of design since as a test machine, they couldn't really produce it in bulk; but by giving it various frames, that single unit would have a lot of versatility. From one designer to another, Amuro admits he'd like her opinion on his designs for the v Gundam, the next Gundam unit, and one made especially for his personal use.

Changing the topic, it seems Astonaige finally noticed that the Excellence's cockpit can separate and turn into a fighter. Hey, doesn't the very first Gundam also do that? Of course, Amuro points out, those "Mazinger" robots also ended up using a similar concept.

Elsewhere in the hangar, Raul and Raj check up on the Excellence. The Timeflow engine is doing fine, but Raj worries; even if things are fine for now, with how uncertain their future is, if Raul gets the core block of the Excellence seriously damaged, who knows if they'll even be able to arrange for a facility where they can do extensive repairs. Raul says that, worst case scenario, they have a spare Argent Fighter, but it's not smart for them to let their guard down just because of that; the core of the Excellence is far harder to maintain than the frames.

Suddenly, Kayra barges into the hangar; everyone is to head for the bridge immediately. Yes, even the Excellence trio.

Due to an emergency, there's been a change in the Ra Cailum's flight plan; instead of heading to Von Braun for supplies, they're heading to Fifth Luna, an asteroid used for mining operations. Neo Zeon is about to repeat a historical tragedy; they're going to drop it onto the Earth, much like the Colony Drops of the One Year War.
They reason their plan is to use repeated strikes on the Earth with celestial bodies to trigger a new ice age, as a longstanding theory of why the ice age came about was due to meteors striking the Earth. Isn't that what killed the dinosaurs?

Amuro: "No, the dinosaurs' extinction was due to Getter radiation. It's just that the meteor impacts happened at around the same timeframe, so people often confuse them."
this line belongs in the srw hall of fame. simply remarkable.

In any case, the Londo Bell's response is late due to the New UNE's lack of prudence. This is an emergency. As such, Bright asks the Excellence crew if they can rely on their assistance for this operation. Mizuho goes ahead and accepts for us, but Raj isn't as enthusiastic, and wants to remind everyone that the Excellence is just a test machine... but Bright reiterates that right now, the Londo Bell needs any help they can get their hands on.

Mizuho and Raj muse that they certainly didn't expect for the Excellence to be deployed in live combat so quickly. Well, the Moon base incident was live combat too, in a way, though definitely not an ideal debut.
Above all though, Raul sees that incident as an opportunity. Thanks to it, now they're about to face actual combat, on the frontlines of the war! If they do well here, it'll be an achievement no mock battle could offer them. Plus, it'll be great for testing if any parts of the Excellence's design don't hold up to the scrutiny of real combat. Raul's enthusiasm is firing up even Mizuho!

Raul: "Alright. We're going to build up the Excellence's resume."
The team's confidence renewed, Raul heads off to the strategy meeting.

Fifth Luna isn't usually a mobile station; for the purposes of their asteroid drop operation, they've installed nuclear pulse engines on it. As a result, those are the team's real target. If we can make it lose its momentum before it reaches the Earth's gravitational pull, it's nothing but a big rock floating in space. Of course, since the other side also knows this, their defenses will likely be at their thickest around said engines.
In short, our goal is to get within range of the thrusters in time, destroy them, and get out. If we take too long, even with the thrusters destroyed, the inertia combined with the Earth's pull will cause it to hit the earth regardless.

In the middle of the meeting, however, news reaches the Ra Cailum; there's been a coup d'etat at the Amaterasu Colony! What's more, the people behind the coup aren't with Neo Zeon. They're part of a wholly new insurrectionist group... the Martian Successors. What's more, many people within the ranks of the UNE have defected to their cause. As a result, we'll be even more shorthanded during our assault on Fifth Luna than we thought!

Amuro thinks this is fishy. The timing on these incidents... is it really just a bad coincidence? Raul reasons that coincidence or conspiracy, there isn't much they can personally do about it. All that matters is that they've got to stop that asteroid.

wasn't the deal with that place is that's where all of the "World's Mistakes" go?
I'm pretty sure The Static isn't from any established CN/WB/HB property it's a wholly unique threat...Like...The Ze Balmary Empire from SRW@, Abyss from MvC2 and even Galeem and Dharkon from World of Light as well as Tabuu from Subspace Emissary.
though...it's still up in the air and we won't know anything else until Pibby starts actual production.

I'm not too much of a stickler for spirits during enemy phase (in theory if it were more difficult to compensate, however spirits during enemy phase is basically an 'I win' button), but the fact that all units in modern SRW feel same-y mechanically. I don't really notice the differences between each of the supers or each of the reals and I can't fully explain why.
But I do want and early SRX just to have ryusei chime in during missions...

Following up a bit on my previous post on SEED Destiny in Super Robot Wars Y:
For as much as I talked up how SEED wouldn’t fit very well alongside Witch From Mercury, I have to admit that ever since the reveal that SEED Destiny will be in Super Robot Wars Y, I have thought of some really interesting ways that SEED (particularly post-Destiny) could tie together with G-Witch.
For example, I think it’s VERY easy to imagine that Dawn of the Fold are at least partly comprised of various remnant/splinter factions of Blue Cosmos or just general Earth Alliance military. Likewise, I’d frankly be willing to bet money that Sophie and Norea were part of the ‘Extended’ super-solider program that created Stella and the other Phantom Pain Gundam pilots. Or that Piel-Tech’s ‘Enhanced Person’ program that created the Elans is likewise an offshoot of that whole project.
Though here’s a particularly wild/crazy/fun theory:
Considering Ochs Earth’s and the Vanadis Institute’s focus on transhumanism, I think it’s very easy to imagine that both Ericht and Suletta, as well as possibly Elnora/Prospera were/are Coordinators in this version of events.
Buuuttt, I think we can take this a step FURTHER when we consider how Suletta is actually a clone of Eri in the source material.
Given the timeline of events, what if the Vanadis Institute just so happened to be connected to or even PART of everything that was going on at the Mendel Colony? Say, what if Elnora was a close associate of one Ulen Hibiki and Caridid Yamato, the people running the whole ‘Ultimate Coordinator’ project that created Kira Yamato? As in, what if Suletta isn’t just a clone. What if she (and possibly Eri) is another ‘Ultimate Coordinator’ JUST like Kira?
#srw#super robot wars#super robot wars y#srw theory#gundam#gundam seed#gundam seed destiny#gundam witch from mercury#g witch#g-witch#suletta mercury#ericht samaya#kira yamato#sophie pulone#i have a feeling that g-witch is probably going to be at the forefront/center of a lot of the 'real robot' side of srw y's plot

Seems we Might Wait a While Till the Next Game
February 18, 2020 9:27 PM EST
Seems it’ll take a while till we get the game following Super Robot Wars OG The Moon Dwellers and its Alpha 3 plot.
Judging from what Producer Terada said in the latest Super Robot Wars stream, we might not get a new Super Robot Wars OG game in a while.
As you already heard by now, Bandai Namco held a Super Robot Wars stream on February 18. It most notably revealed Code Geass‘ Lelouch piloting Wing Gundam Zero Rebellion as the 2nd Crossing Pilot event in mobile game Super Robot Wars DD. And no new console game was announced, which is a good thing in my book. Anyway, during the stream, we also heard that the SRX piloted by Ryusei is joining Super Robot Wars Cross Omega, the other mobile game. This triggered an interesting discussion.
youtube
The first part of the stream focused on Super Robot Wars X-Ω (pronounced Cross Omega), and its newly added units, including SRX. Producer Terada mentioned how it’s been over 20 years since SRX first appeared in 1996. He mentioned that back when they made SRX, he purposefully picked really lame sounding names for its ultimate attacks. Nowadays, they feel even lamer so he’s ashamed of it. Kenji Akabane, one of the regular seiyuu on these streams, vehemently interjected and said the SRX is pretty cool, and Ryusei’s seiyuu Miki Shinichiro does a great job at making it cool. Akabane mentioned he was pretty sad when seeing the SRX gets wrecked in Super Robot Wars Alpha 3. So they started chatting about how SRW Alpha 3‘s story will hypothetically happen in an hypothetical new Super Robot Wars OG game. That’s when Terada mentioned that the SRX won’t necessarily get wrecked in the next SRWOG game and they didn’t decide whether to do that or not yet. This should be taken with a grain of salt, as it was said among banter and jokes, but this would mean they haven’t even finished writing the game’s scenario yet, meaning we won’t be seeing the next SRW OG game soon.
Personally speaking, I like the SRW OG series as much as the main SRW series and am looking forward to the next entry. The stream also featured the usual new mecha toys releases presentation at the end. Time doesn’t permit me to cover that but it was pretty nice and you should definitely take a look if that’s your thing.
Seeing we’re speaking scenario writing, this is also a good opportunity to bring up a theory. Souichiro Morizumi recently participated in writing an SRW OG-themed event in SRW X-Ω. Morizumi also had a hand in the SRW DD Crossing Pilot scenario with Amuro in Mazinger Z. I think this means there’s a pretty high chance Souichiro Morizumi is currently writing for the next SRW OG game too. So I’m betting on Reiji and Xiaomu getting in the game. Sure they’re Monolith Soft characters, but seeing it’s unlikely Project x Zone 2 will get a spiritual successor anytime soon, this could as well happen instead.
The three last main console games of the series are, in release order: Super Robot Wars V, Super Robot Wars X, and Super Robot Wars T. The last SRW OG game was Super Robot Wars OG The Moon Dwellers, released in 2016. We might hear more about the next SRWOG game in 2021, the 30th anniversary of the SRW series. I wouldn’t say no to a new anime adaptation directed by Masami Obari either.

One very funny thing about doing a lot of theorizing about how Super Robot Wars Y is going to handle G-Witch, is that if you know anything about how SRW handles their secret unlockable characters,
Then you KNOW that one of, if not THE main requirement for getting playable Guel as a pilot is DEFINITELY going to be...
Keeping Guel's utter shitbag of a father from dying.

Yeah, we're gonna have to save THIS asshole XD
It's actually fun to theorize how this might play out in terms of game mechanics. Like it's easy to imagine that Guel and Vim both show up on the relevant stage as enemy/npc units and you probably have a certain number of turns to do something to stop one or both of them before an event triggers where Guel kills Vim as per canon. With one rather fun wrinkle potentially being that because Guel was piloting one of DotF's stolen MS's, he may very well show up on the map as an ENEMY unit.
Now assuming this doesn't involve the use of the 'Persuade/Convince' command (and it's a little hard to see how it would), I imagine this is probably going to involve the use of the 'Mercy' spirit command, ie; the 'Leave an enemy with 10 HP' ability that SRW often uses as a means of 'disabling' story-relevant mechs in a 'let's NOT actually kill off this character' events. In this case, I imagine the requirements would be something like 'Reduce Guel and/or Vim to 10 HP before a certain number of turns pass'.
Where this gets more interesting is when considering what Vim's status in all this is going to be. Like is he going to show up as an actual enemy or neutral NPC and thus be able to be attacked normally?
Or is he going to show up as an ALLIED NPC and thus NOT be targetable for attacks? Meaning that the only way to fulfill the requirements is to get creative with MAP Attacks.
Honestly, I think it would be very appropriate and VERY funny if recruiting Guel, and by extension preventing him from generally getting smacked around by the universe turned out to be one of the HARDEST things in the game and one of those secrets that most players just end up skipping XD
#srw#super robot wars#srw rambling#super robot wars y#srw theory#gundam witch from mercury#g witch#g-witch#guel jeturk#vim jeturk#rambling about game mechanics#guel cannot catch a fucking break#and it would be ENTIRELY in-character for srw to recognize that XD#in which the way to save guel's father is to blast both of them with the macross cannon XD

Continuing the SRW Y theories on how Witch from Mercury could be adapted, another particularly interesting wrinkle we might see comes when we start looking at Sophie and Norea.
Simply put, I think it’s almost a given that we’ll be seeing those two show up quite a bit EARLIER than they did in-show as recurring enemies and likely tied into other series’ plotlines.
Like I think we can all agree that it is very easy to imagine the Dawn of the Fold being involved in the Code Geass story, working with or maybe even against the Kingdom of Zilkistan.
Heck, they might even have secret requirements to be recruitable. If only in a 'show up in the final level as guest party members to help fight the Big Bad' capacity.
