to start this all this is a callout post about how you fucking hurt me  with you thread with each other. LIKE THE FUCKING POST I JUST SAW ON MY DASH FROM THE TWO OF YOU ….. how is someone allowed to be doing this. the two of you honestly make me make me find a love for ginny and harry i didn’t know i had and…idk if i should be thankful for it since you are also hurting me more now.

@goldensaviour // i enjoy how confident about who harry is you are, even if he doesn’t. it is a pleasure being able to witness to see you share some of your views on him on my dash….i mean most of it hurts me deeply and my james. also my heart might have some future problem but you know i am chill. every time i see you i feel myself just going wow actual harry potter here, and i say that since you make him real, when i read your post i actually am able to see a person not only a character you write. 

@gxt-enough-nxrve // what they did to ginny in the movies were criminal. so what you are doing with ginny is honestly what the worlds deserves after that shit. like sure years has passed since they did what we shall not name. but you bring the life in ginny that they kinda sucked out of here and you even make the base of an amazing character his is vibrant and alive even more so and make her so much more than what the book just makes her into. you bring her of the page and down to earth.   also i am legit mad at myself for not following you faster and like for some reason following you on every other one of my blogs but not on here *face palms*

the mckinnons are a relatively old wizarding family traced both through the male and female line. they are not as ancient or renowned as many of the families, like the potters and the blacks, but old enough. her father, arran, is the oldest of two : he has one younger brother, ian, for whom arran’s third son would eventually be named. they had a rather rocky relationship when they were younger, and the naming was meant to signify a mending around the same time as the younger ian’s birth. uncle ian would later be marlene’s godfather,and something of a favorite of hers (he bought her the very first broomstick she ever owned). her mother, iona, was one of six siblings. the two met at hogwarts, only to find that they had grown up quite close to one another and had never met. they were friends for a long time before they discovered romantic feelings for one another, and began dating in their sixth year. they married within a year of leaving hogwarts, and had their first child, isla, not long after. iona had always wanted a large family and was quite content to stay at home to care for one while her husband worked for the ministry. arran took a job in the department of magical law enforcement, where he worked closely with amelia bones. iona, meanwhile, was a writer. though she wrote quite a bit on defensive theory, she devoted most of her time to fictional tales for children. 

the three boys came one after another, beginning three years after isla was born. first alan, then david, then ian. marlene was born five years after ian. their house was a good-natured sort of chaos with five children below school age running about. iona taught them all reading, writing, and math, and though she liked to say she gave up on manners, she taught those as well. they moved to a nice suburb outside of london when marlene was about six years old. 

marlene is very much the baby of the family, and gets away with pretty much anything. she gets along with her parents quite well, though she does tend to push boundaries. her dad is the stickler for rules, so she tries to evade him when she gets into mischief, and it’s him she tends to butt heads with as she gets older. her mum is very sweet, soft-spoken and easy-going, though not a push-over. she knows more about her children’s antics than she lets on, and can be very firm when she needs to be. marlene absolutely adores her, and does what she can to make her mum happy. 

ISLA: the eldest, the beauty of the family, and a bit bossy, isla and marlene don’t always get along. marlene liked to push the rules while isla liked to set them. isla;s ambitions were always very conventional: pass her O.W.L.s and her N.E.W.T.s, marry, and have two children: a son and a daughter. it was isla who often told on marlene, and isla who most often disapproves of her. marlene almost feels a sense of relief when isla marries (when marlene is in her third year) and moves away. the two definitely love one another, but they can get on one another’s nerves quite easily. this does improve with age, time, and circumstance. in her survival au, marlene and isla become much better friends following the end of the first war. 

ALAN: quick-tempered alan is perhaps the brother marlene is least close to. he can be rather broody and temperamental, which marlene finds a little dull. he’s the closest to isla, and tends to go off on his own or with his friends more often when she leaves. he follows his father into magical law enforcement, where his temper settles. 

DAVID: big, bear-like david is the one you have to look out for: marlene’s greatest defender, and even - - perhaps - - a little overprotective. marlene sort of hero-worships him, and the woman he eventually proposes to says that she was more afraid of meeting marlene than she was of meeting their mother. he becomes a curse-breaker for gringotts. 

IAN: the real troublemaker, the joker, he and marlene share an impulsive streak that often gets them into trouble. they’ll challenge each other to ridiculous stunts that the other, of course, feels compelled to complete. it was usually david who kept them from accidental death. 

all three brothers are protective of marlene when it comes to other people, and like to give her all sorts of trouble on their own. they tease and rough-house and she learns to give it right back. she tends to boss them around whenever she can, though this works best on david and ian, and teases all of them liberally. 

the family is connected to the potters through the father’s side: his parents knew the potters quite well, and i generally headcanon that marlene more or less grew up knowing james potter. she gives him about as much trouble as she gives her own brothers.

          JAMES POTTER AND PETER PETTIGREW ARE ABOUT TO DIE. it’s not a question, but a statement of fact. they’ve fought with everything they have. every ounce of strength in their bodies drained in an epic battle. they’ll tell tales about this. stories of the two boys who fought so valiantly for their cause, their names remembered by the order for as long as it shall thrive. they’ve lost so many, and soon they are about to join the ranks of the dead. backs pressed together, it’s impossible to know how many they’ve brought down through the battle, the salt of sweat and the tang of blood taints peter’s senses. they’ve dancing an intricate dance, each trying to avoid the more vicious spells thrown their way but they’ve been backed into a corner.

          watching each other’s backs, peter is shaking, breath shuddering. he’s terrified but attempting to hold fast to the last shreds of hope he has that they will somehow manage to survive this ordeal. but then james speaks up and the fragile flame of hope is snuffed out. they are surely about to die and he isn’t prepared. death is piling around them and the fear settles in his bones.

          instinct is there to aid him, and his right hand falls, reaches to search blindly for james’ left in a fumbling grasp. trembling fingers manage to lace with the others before gripping tight. it’s a life line. a final grasp for something familiar. if he’s going to die, he wants it to be here. with one of his best friends. it’s not as frightening a prospect to know he won’t be ALONE in his final moments. for the first time in his life, he’s going to be a true hero. a brave deed in standing here, for the first time he can feel the lion’s pride inside his veins. his voice is steadier than he feels, if they’re saying goodbye he’s going to make it count.

you manged somehow to make your james extremly fun. like both you and how you write him are fucking hilarious and i could honestly just go though your whole blog and always find things to laugh at.....tho that also means i would hit the fucking angst pretty soon as well. which to me doesn’t seem fair how you get the playful side of james while also getting the more sirius ( he i had to ) part of james. i have absoutly adored your james for years and with each time i see you on my dash it just grows

  “Well, we hardly know Martha’s life, James, I think it would behoove us to support her decisions,” he quipped back casually, green eyes drifting over the other’s face a moment, reading the lines — rather between them— as best he could. The boyish mirth faded ever-so-slightly as those eyes narrowed, leaning forward to rest his elbows on his knees, fingers woven. 

  “I’ll be heading North again in a month or so. Things are beginning to stir out there, and the Order will need all the eyes and ears it can spare,” he began, not wishing to drag the atmosphere down, but knowing how restless James got when he was kept out of the loop. Remus thought it was best he kept his friend apprised of the Order’s actions —his specifically— reasoning that transparency was all he had to offer by way of a vouch for his own trustworthiness. 

  “I will send word back and urge Sirius to keep you informed with all I know,” a small smile returned to his lips, reaching out to grasp the side of James’ shoulder with a gentle squeeze. “You’re sorely missed out there...” he trailed off, glancing back toward the cottage, a bitter-sweetness filling the air between them, “but you’re where you should be,” he stated, gaze returning. “Being with your family is the right choice — the only choice. No one faults you for it.” ༺🌕༻

i made a choice. this is my family.

          heart sticks in throat at the statement— peter never doubted for a moment that james loved them all like brothers. he would do anything for them, and the same was held fast in the hollows of his chest. he tells himself he would die for james if the moment arrived, as surely as he would for remus, sirius, or lily. they are family, the only family he has, save for his mother. a number of words roll around, cling to the roof of his mouth and hide beneath his leaden tongue, trying to come up with an answer. a response. something befitting to such a statement but he’s never been good with words. even less so with action.

          stillness instead comes, a sort of solemn air about him and the realization that they are no long untamed boys. they are men. soldiers in a battle and they have the right to choose. choose family and sides and what they determine to be worth fighting for. he wants to say that it’s bravery that drives him. a deep unequaled need to do right by all of those made victim by the dark lord. he wants to say he’s fighting in memory of his muggleborn father who surely would have been PROUD of his son taking a stand. it’s not that. it’s them.

          without the marauders, his brothers in arms, he would not have the strength of will nor courage to face such insurmountable odds. without them, he would be lost. they provide him with the strength to stand not behind but beside them A TRUE AND RIGHTEOUS HERO like he always dreamed he’d be as a child. except he’s not. for without his family he would fail without question.

          swallowing all those fears, the pain, he tries to shake off the mark of ominousness that seems part and parcel of statements like that in a time of war. ❛ merlin, prongs— when did you get so sentimental? ❜
