Posted @withregram • @stevenrobinsonpictures Mars and Pleiades Conjunction, as viewed from Scotland on March 2021 I went back and reprocessed my original and first deep sky astro shot just to eek out as much as I could from the data I collected. Considering I had setup issues and only collected about 40 mins of data from my backyard, I was quite pleased with this. Big shout out to Nico Carver of @nebulaphotosdotcom and Trevor Jones of @astrobackyard who inspired and gave advice freely. 18x2 min exposures, ISO 400 at 200mm f/4, nikon D850. 10 x dark frames 30 x bias frames 30 x flat frames Stacked in DSS. Processed in PS. Ps tonight...I have my lens over Perseus. Stay tuned...if it works 🤣 _________________________________________ #astrophotgraphy #astronomy #pleiades #universe #astronomymagazine #astronomylover #astrophotography_ #astroworld #astrophoto #astrophotographer #astro #scotland🏴#perthshire #perthscotland #nightskyphotography #nightshooters #astronomer #astronomyphotography #nikond850 #staradventurer #startracker #stargazing #stargazer #starlight #skywatchers #skywatcher #pleaides _________________________________________ https://www.instagram.com/richevangelista/p/CXUwB79r89Y/?utm_medium=tumblr

The Andromeda Galaxy. 2 hours of imagery composed into this stack. 160 x 18 second subs. You can even see 2 other galaxies in this image (M110) above and (M32) right below. A little bit from Wikipedia : The Andromeda Galaxy (IPA: /ænˈdrɒmɪdə/), also known as Messier 31, M31, or NGC 224 and originally the Andromeda Nebula (see below), is a barred spiral galaxy approximately 2.5 million light-years (770 kiloparsecs) from Earth and the nearest major galaxy to the Milky Way.[4] The galaxy's name stems from the area of Earth's sky in which it appears, the constellation of Andromeda, which itself is named after the Ethiopian (or Phoenician) princess who was the wife of Perseus in Greek mythology. This image will get clearer over time as I add more data to it. With that being said I am so happy with the results so far. #andromeda #andromedagalaxy #astrophotography #astronomy #space #galaxy #longexposure #photo #photography #canon #canonphotography #staradventurer #skyphotography #skyporn #skywatcher #photooftheday https://www.instagram.com/p/CCynShYJr8z/?igshid=58c6b4hkk2w2

To the Core. This is an image comprised of 78 x 43 second tracked exposures (Star Adventurer) with a full-spectrum Pentax DSLR and Samyang 85mm lens. Stacked and integrated in Astro Pixel Processor. Linear and non-linear processing in PixInsight followed by Photoshop. I am looking directly towards the centre of the Milky Way in the constellation Sagittarius. Seen here are three nebulae (all in the lower-right): the large magenta splotch is M8, the Lagoon Nebula, with the smaller pinkish and bluish M20, the Trifid nebula located above and to the right of M8. Faintly seen above and to the left of M8 is the magenta hued nebula IC4685. Two globular star clusters can also be espied: the large M22 (centre-left) and the fainter M28 below and to the right of it. I'm enjoying creating these wider-field astro images, methinks. #astronomy #astrophotography #milkyway #milkywaychasers #clayhausphotography #pentax #samyang85mm14 #samyang #staradventurer https://www.instagram.com/p/CS1uWTkHDSn/?utm_medium=tumblr

#Repost via @krl_photo ・・・ Comet C/2020 F3 NEOWISE captured early this morning. ——————— “Not granite nor stone, she’s fire made from ice. A galactic tasteful treasure, the chilliest flavor of spice. Flaunting a tale told only by a fairy. Enchantment in the sky, a reality of the contrary. She sheds her layers that burn from within. It’ll be 68 lifetimes, til we see her magic again”. -KRL- 🔥💫🧊 ——————— A little over a week until our next photography workshop in Utah! We will be shooting the night sky and quite possibly this comet if she’s still around! About a year ago, I was fascinated by photos of the galactic core of the Milky Way galaxy that was visible in dark sky areas. Living around metro Atlanta, the one thing to be certain of besides crippling traffic jams is the extensive amount of light pollution. Light pollution obviously hinders any attempt at astrophotography so the easiest solution for me geographically is to head north. Learning how to photograph the Milky Way led me to the discovery of my favorite astrophotography tool-the Sky Watcher Star Adventurer. To put as simply as I can,y camera mounts to the body of the sky watcher which is aligned to Polaris. The sky watcher rotates as the earth turns, tracking Polaris. This in turn eliminates star trails on those really long exposures. On the flip side, if you have foreground in your frame it will be blurry due to the motion of the sky watcher rotating. That can be fixed though quite easily. Anyway, long story longer, my wife, son, and I got a chance to get up to the mountains at the end of September. While Brasstown Bald would have been the most ideal spot for this type of photography due to it being one of the darkest sky areas of Georgia, we opted for a much shorter trip to the area outside of Dahlonega. If you take State Highway 60 towards Suches, you will come across Woody Gap on the Appalachian Trail. We parked on the east side of 60 at Woody Gap and I set up my camera and sky watcher. This shot was the result of four different photos stitched together. I could not do as long of an exposure as I had wanted because of the light pollution from Dahlonega, but I was still able to capture the beauty of the Milky Way. If you are interested in capturing your own image, I have had success here at Woody Gap, Suches, and the Hard Labor Creek Observatory which has public viewings through Georgia State University once a month. My goal is to hike to the top of Blood Mountain and Brasstown Bald at night to get even better shots. One place I have not tried yet is the University of North Georgia's Observatory which offers public access on pretty much every Friday evening.

The Pinwheel (M33)Triangulum Galaxy. There are many galaxies that we call the Pinwheel galaxy. This is M33 or NGC 598. This is a composite image comprised of 125 subs at 26 seconds each. What makes this a great target is that it is almost face on to us, allowing us to see the amazing spiral or pinwheel like structure. A little from Wikipedia : The Triangulum Galaxy is a spiral galaxy 2.73 million light-years (ly) from Earth in the constellation Triangulum. It is catalogued as Messier 33 or NGC 598. The Triangulum Galaxy is the third-largest member of the Local Group of galaxies, behind the Milky Way and the Andromeda Galaxy. It is one of the most distant permanent objects that can be viewed with the naked eye. This image will get better with time as a add more data. #pinwheelgalaxy #m33 #astrophotography #astronomy #space #galaxy #longexposure #photo #photography #canon #canonphotography #staradventurer #skyphotography #skyporn #skywatcher #photooftheday https://www.instagram.com/p/CCynhBjpcMK/?igshid=uoubwviyq99j

Another image of one of my favorite sections of the Summer night sky: the Rho Ophiuchi Cloud Complex. This image is the result of 94 43 second exposures (a little over 67 minutes total) captured with a full spectrum Pentax DSLR and tracked with the Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer. The images were integrated in Astro Pixel Processor and processed in PixInsight and Photoshop. In this frame we see dark nebulae, emission nebulae, reflection nebula, a globular star cluster, the bright orange giant star Antares and the yellow glow of the Milky Way's disk to the left. Lots to see here. #astronomy #astrophotography #pentax #staradventurer #rhoophiuchicloudcomplex #rhoophiuchi #clayhausphotography https://www.instagram.com/p/CSx87--na9T/?utm_medium=tumblr
