Fun Easter eggs for Easter! Incredibly, the Star Wars Black Series Boba Fett with the Droids TV show color scheme arrived today. I pre-ordered this a full year ago as part of the Lucasfilm 50th anniversary Target promotion. I know some people got them in May & June. Given that the original transaction was no longer visible online, I had mostly given up hope at this point. This week's episode of the Mandalorian was awesome. And part of it was a toy commercial for old Kenner toys.  An RA-7 Droid, better known to Kenner kids as the Death Star Droid, showed up in service to The Client as a bartender. The control functionality offers standard forward, backward, left and right inputs. However, controllers can also trigger accessories which can be added on to droids, like blasters and mock tools. And now for something completely different: 50th anniversary Vintage Collection Droids Line, consisting of C-3PO, R2-D2, and Boba Fett. This is a beautiful set and it feels heartbreaking to know that I will eventually open them up but to me it doesn’t make sense to keep them that way because I will certainly not hang them on a wall like that and neither will I want them to rot somewhere in a box without ever having played with them. That being said, I only watched Droids a few weeks ago for the first time ever and while it was a bit difficult to focus on and I only had it running while doing other stuff, I think I saw the key scenes and characters and know what it’s roughly about. Droids as well as Ewoks came out when I had lost interest in Star Wars figures. On top the toy lines were probably not even available at all in mainland Europe so I missed out on them completely as I missed out on the animated series. It seems that I haven’t missed much (apart from some of the most valuable toys today). I never knew the coins from the last 17 as they were only available on trilogo cards (without the coins) here and therefore I also have zero interest in any coins that ever got produced after the last 17. the same applies to the weird and simplified if not cheap looking colors on Artoo and Threepio on the original droid figures, but I have to say that over the years I developed a liking for their looks. While Boba Fett‘s colors were left untouched in the original line, they recreated him with the color pattern from the animated series (which resembles the Holiday Special pattern) which is a nice touch. I am a bit torn about this Boba Fett as it certainly is the most modern version for the Holiday Special Boba Fett, but it does not come with the staff that he handles in the Special. On the other hand this is a droid card and he never uses that staff in Droids as far as I know.
