This week I am showing self love , embracing all of me. Growing up dark skinned felt like a curse sometimes. I knew I was a black girl, but it was hard to always accept it due to the negativity that was brought to me from my own race of peers. I was badly picked on as a child and teen before I even experienced racism from another race. It took a lot for me to even purchase this outfit because I didn't want to bring attention to myself. Sometimes you don't realize the deep internal scars you carry. People call me beautiful all the time and compliment me . It's a fact to know I am one of the most insecure people walking around. But you wouldn't know because I am pushing myself to embrace it. I am faking it to until I make it. There is so much going on today with our youth killing themselves from being bullied. I definitely know what it's like to feel inadequate, unpopular, or inhuman. I know for sure I survived that journey but it wasn't easy , it still triggers me to this day. I pray this nation really start understanding it's a crisis happening here, most of it is starting with our youth. The communities need to really start getting involved, and own the awareness ( because most times, they already know) of what's happening to stop the bullying. To stop these homicides and suicides. I need you all to start speaking up when you see it happen and make a stand, because YOU ARE SAVING A LIFE. A good place to start with making a change and bringing a change is with @nywusa and the #caseapp. While using the C.A.S.E app teens can conduct a survey to measure if they are experiencing conflict, anger , or self esteem issues. From there they will receive some resources that can lead them to finding the help they need. They sink into turn 16 and Rey attempts an overtake, surprising herself by managing to swoop up next to him on the outside lane and nearly gets ahead for a split-second but in the next he takes it back. She grits her teeth yet can’t help feeling a stab of satisfaction in proving that she doesn’t need to cheat to threaten him.

Rey digs herself deeper into her seat, determined to get ahead of Ren’s Silencer.

For once she doesn’t want to win for her team. For once she doesn’t want to win to keep her place in her new family.

She just wants to beat this jerk.

State Your Case: Washington

I usually spend my entire time driving through a state thinking about what I’ll say about it.

Unfortunately, in Washington, I couldn’t *hear myself think* because of all the goddamn road noise. Seriously, this needs to be rectified.

Mountains, vistas, Seattle, yada, yada, yada. Bottom line, driving was arduous.

Addendum: I do award some points for their signage. They use little silhouettes of George Washington’s head. It’s cute.

State Your Case: South Dakota

The thing about South Dakota is it had me, then it lost me, then it won be back. At first it was some of the most beautiful landscape we had seen yet. It started as a pleasure to drive through. ... But that shit gets old after six hours. This state is so big that *time changes* in the middle of it. We got an hour back, which at that point I felt it owed me anyway so I was pleased. But we *finally* hit Rapid City and the Black Hills and it was simply breathtaking. Loved it. Overall: Aha!
