Just remembered the movie Life Like... It's honestly kind of a frustrating experience for me cause it could have given us polyamory/OT3 but didn't. Well, not really at least. Some might consider it lowkey poly or poly adjacent. But it could have gone at least a little further.
Sure I only watched it cause it had Drew Van Acker hooking up with a guy, but still. It had some interesting themes about AI/robots/androids and love, similar to Chobits and some of Vision’s stories...
The way each of them interacted with the robot was interesting. The husband kinda just saw him as an object but that also sort of opened up the door to using him sexually, and then after he seems to realize he kinda cares? And the robot and the wife were just cute with a similar feel to ScarletVision. The couple has a bunch of issues but are trying to stick together and then there's this third person getting between them, which now reminds me of Akidrey and Makidrey.
And then, spoiler alert, it ends with a rather weird and kinda stupid plot twist where the robot was actually a human that was groomed/"brainwashed" to think he's a robot and Jarvis from Agent Carter has a whole business doing that????
And then the fake android sort of sacrifices himself for the couple who "owned" him and they... Name their child after him. That (a flashforward with the kid) is the actual final scene and is honestly so cheesy and cringy and... Meh? I mean, that's nice I guess but... Besides not getting what I wanted it's just also kinda weird in that it feels like it doesn't really have anything to say in what were supposed to be the main themes (the robot/android/AI vs humans and love between them stuff, since he's actually just a human)...
For a while now I've thought about writing a fic about it, where they would end up as a throuple and maybe even being a novelization of the movie but I really doubt I will cause I'm not actually that passionate about it and literally no one would read it lol.
