After spending many years creating music mostly by myself in my home studio. I now truly appreciate the power of collaboration!!! Its easy to get stuck in your comfort zone as you are creating at home. To a degree spending time alone creating and figuring things out can be beneficial. I think it can help you to develop many skills without worrying if somebody else in the room thinks it sounds horrible. Spending time alone in a room creating might also make it easier to work through sucking at your craft in the beginning!! With all that being said its VERY important to get out of your own head and start spending time around other creatives in and out of the studio! In my own experience I can say that my rate of progress tripled when I started an audio engineering class at a local studio! I met tons of new people and began spending a lot of time at and around the studio where I was attending class (Vibe Recording Institute). If you have the rite attitude. You will find yourself learning from everybody you come into contact with. The more smart creative thinkers you surround yourself with... the more you will grow. Once you have meet some cool creative people you will now have a selection of people to collaborate with! This is when the magic really happens. This is when you start being a part of the kind of productions you have always wanted to be involved in. Once you have gotten the collaborative ball rolling your going to find that many more opportunities will come your way! Last but not least. When you put yourself around those smart creative people.
