Here is a post that is long overdue in the sense of I have multiple times thought, "I should post Upsahl cause she's really pretty and also I like her music". I tend to think this though on my walk into the office when I am listening to Upsahl or for some reason in the mid afternoon when she just loves to pop up on random. Either way, far away from a computer and the way my brain works means it has just never happened. I really like her music, too. In one of those Spotify wrap things before I ditched Spotify completely, People I don't Like was on my top 10 plays. It surprised me because I knew I liked the song but had no idea I had listened to it so much. Either way, she is a very clever lyricist and I like how experimental her genre mixing is. It's nice when there is a young artist who has a diverse sound and yet I can tell who she is right away. This happened a little over a week ago when I was driving and listening to the new released for you playlist and someone was singing about her own boobs and my brain went, "Upsahl". It turned out she had a new mixtape, which was good. But i was driving so I didn't post her. Then yesterday for some reason someone send me a message on discord. They shared a music server with me and they asked if I liked Upsahl and I said, yes, I did. I was excited. Then they asked me if I wanted to talk about her being a "secret dickgirl". Boy, I did not. And I blocked them cause guys, don't approach people for weird sex stuff in non weird sex stuff locations. Like, if that's your thing knock yourself out, I bet there are subreddits and stuff for that. Also, Dickgirl is probably offensive but what the fuck do I know, I ust maybe think it's not a great term? Anyway, it was a really strange way to get here. Just an FYI, I know this is a much more sex focused place than say a music discord about music, but you know, stillnot interested in talking to you about your fantasies about Upsahl. Sorry. If you have thoughts on her music though feel free to hit me up. Today I want to fuck Upsahl.

a couple years ago, i kept seeing everybody rave about santa clarita diet, so i decided to watch the first episode.

it was a cold open of a man and a woman burying a dead body. i thought “huh, what an interesting way to start the show- show the protagonists covering up a murder, and then flashback to the beginning. kinda like how to get away with murder.” i kept waiting. there was no flashback.

a girl and a boy show up. “siblings? i’m guessing,” but the show’s not making it an easy guess. “wait no, the parents aren’t acting like he’s they’re son… and he’s in love with her???? so not siblings… this is too confusing, there’s GOTTA be a point where they flash back, right?!??” there was no flash back.

the man goes to a mortuary for his wife, bc she’s a cannibal.. apparently? “but then why were they BURRYING a body?” this is stillnot explained- however, they’ve said the name of the corpse about 10 times now. “am i SUPPOSED to know who the hell that guy is???? and are they ever gonna explain why she can only eat human flesh??? THERES GOTTA BE A FLASH BACK COMING UP, RIGHT???” there was, still, no flash back.

i decided to turn it off and i never turned it on again.

a few weeks ago, my friend asked why i never watched this masterpiece of a show. “well,” i said, “i tried to, but the storytelling was very messy, and they didnt introduce anything about the characters or world or setting before jumping into the plot.”

my friend did not accept that response and URGED me to give it another shot. “alright, but i don’t think i’ll change my mind,” i replied.

so i put this show on again, however many years later, and im very confused- i’m getting a lot of context that i do not remember the first time around. “why did i think nothing made sense before?! and im SURE it started out with them burying a body in the desert- where the hell is that scene?!?” i end up enjoying the episode, albeit with a confused look upon my face the entire time.

and then, when i click “next episode”, everything falls into place….. i had refused to watch a show for years simply because i had somehow watched only the second episode.
