I want to know how you feel about the new Netflix Pinocchio trailer that just came out— quite frankly I think it looks amazing tbh.

My first thought: Guillermo del Toro? Aw hell yeah (*pacific rim intensifies*)

Other than that: Why does this movie look so good? For some reason the shading/lighting sticks out the most in my mind. I like the model's designs and pinocchio's nose growing into a tree is a neat idea, giving a good reason for tree trunk/rustic aesthetic. I like how the appearance of the fairy/godmother character draws from a more mythology feel. I like how it looks like a play/theatre asthetic more than a movie and not only because the framing device supports this (if my assumptions about the storybook are correct), but it also feels more like a project with passion behind it (yay for Guillermo). I can actually see a version of this with a stage and strings and being a legit puppet show on a high budget- I'd watch the shit out of that (also reminds me of the pacific rim bts where a practical console was built for the pilots/actors with dangerous movements and real water effects to simulate realism of the scenes).

But yeah overall, wow I wanna watch this with one of my friends when it comes out.

Also the art design vaguely reminded me of the Littlest Elf for some reason.
