i definitely think in kpop it's a lot easier for (most) fans to keep it entirely a divide of "this is a separate entity" because a lot of fics are based off of music video concepts (though . there is a lot of shipping and analyzing every interaction that happens💀) it's just easier for them to keep it separate

agree and disagree? i dont think that divide has to do with fics being based off of mv concepts <- those're usually just used for worldbuilding/narrative purposes and not necessarily character, though it depends on the group to what degree this is true (e.g. bts' hyyh era). honestly i could talk about this all day in detail now that ive thought about it but Whatever not relevant. the point about them not knowing about ao3 is crazy real though i can. maybe see it happening. maybe not i think their pr teams would kill them if it ever came up.

RWaRB was advertised as a queer slow burn enemies to lovers and that shit was not a slow burn at all. I liked the exploration of bisexuilty but felt it could have been done better. I felt like the plot dragged out a lot and there was a lot of technical jargon that had me skiiping through chapters.

RWaRB was good as one of the first queer books I read in trying to discover more about lgbtqia and consequently myself from a very limited exposure to lgbtqia content/media

However after now being older and exposed to FAR better media I fully agree that it is,, not good. Like I really had to push myself when I first read it and the only thing that really made me keep reading was being happy that I owned queer media of any kind (at the time only having they both die at the end). Subjectively I think the characters are a bit dull and honestly I didn't particularly like the storyline itself either. So I think for me, RWaRB was good in the same way I found objectively bad shows (voltron or animes like) to be good ones initially watching them--because they introduced younger me to a greater form of media and consequently taught me more about myself.

If I reread that book now, I would 100% be cringing or probably having to shut it every five minutes to take a break. But I'm happy with what it gave me as my personal defiance and beginning to actively begin exploring the parts of myself I had kept hidden for so long.

Tldr: I agree, I'm just sentimental :)

i mean if were getting into it ive rarely finished a book i didnt like ten pages in 😭 the only reason i got further with rwawb is bc it was recced by a friend who i went back to after reading and said hey that fucking sucked. 0/10 experience! but in a less. abrupt way then that. hold me at gunpoint ill say its awful
