Ruko looks at you and Sam with a smirk after your exchange. She leaves first to give the two of you some unneeded privacy, as any good wing-woman would do.

“Meet my in my room in an hours. I’ll open your present then.” Sam whispers in your ear. He brought you close in one last warm embrace before the two of you went your separate ways.

30 minutes later:

Sam, in his living room partying and dancing away with all his guests, is trying to have fun, and he can’t help but wonder why you were being so somber and serious. It’s just a gift. he thought. What could be so serious about that?

meanwhile:

You are on the edge, ready to leave the party right then and there. After asking Sam about the gift you’re petrified in fear of the moments to come. It’s so bad that you can’t even dance and have fun properly. You look for Ruko, and once you find her you make your way over to her.

“I don’t think I’ll be able to do this.” you say, trying to take deep breaths.

“Oh, shut up. I’ll force you there. I’ve been waiting for this moments for too long. You are not going to mess this up for the two of us just because you’re nervous,” Ruko scoffs. She takes a slight step back, realizing how harsh that came out. “Don’t worry. You’ll be fine. I’m sure nothing bad will happen. If he rejects you I swear that I’ll kill him!” she then says in a more reassuring tone this time.

Two of you stick together, drinking and dancing your worries away.

30 minutes later:

It’s now been an hour, and you’re waiting in Sam’s room, present in hand so he can open it. You’re sitting on his bed, your leg bouncing up and down with anxiety. To relieve yourself you look around his room. The LED lights are set to a beautiful blue color, you felt like you were underwater. The lights bouncing off the walls, and his cologne lingering in the room grounded you, giving you some much needed comfort.

You hear someones footsteps lead up to the door. Not knowing who it is, you tense up slightly, halting your breath.

Someone open the door slightly, and you come to see that it’s Sam. Upon seeing his face you starting breathing normally again. The two of you meet eyes, and smiles have suddenly been plastered on your faces.

“Hey darling. I’m ready to open your present now.” Sam says with a sweet smile on his face.

As you hand him his gift, you suddenly break your silence.

“Sam, I have something I need to tell you. But please, open the gift first.” you say. At this point, you can’t back out, so you’ve mustered up all the courage you’ve got.

He nods, unsure of what’s next. He opens his present with the most gentle touch you’ve ever seen. As he’s opening it he sees a painting and a letter. He picks up the painting and hold it arm’s length from his face. He looks like a new father picking up his newborn for the first time.

“You painted this? For me?!” his voice is slightly high-pitched you can see sparkles in his eyes. “And it’s my favorite flower? How’d you even know that?!” Sam exclaims. He’s over the moon right now, his heart touched by this thoughtful gift.

“I remembered the first time we had hung out without your sister. That night, we shared our hobbies and talked about things we loved. Likes, dislikes. You said your favorite flower was roses.” you say, while slowly taking the letter and unfolding it.

“I’m touched that you found that so important to remember about me.” he says, his eyes glittering. “I remember your favorite flower too. Tulips. I found that so cu-” Sam stopped speaking abruptly, looking down at your hands. “Darling, why are you opening the letter? I was going to read it.” he says with a pout on his face.

“I had to put it with your gift so I wouldn’t forget. As much as this is a letter, it’s really a script for me.” you admit, your head hanging lowly so he can’t see the embarrassment creeping onto your face.

“Script? What for?” Sam asks, confused.

Smiling, you choose not to answer he question directly, and instead just start reading the “letter”.

“It feels like I’ve known you for a millennia, when in fact we’ve only known each other for 5 years. From my recollection, you were kind, intelligent, funny, and of course, dramatic. The first thing I noticed when I saw you, however, was how beautiful you were. Even with an expressionless face, or one of your iconic stank faces, you stole the attention from everyone as soon as you walked in a room. But, when you smiled, my world lit up. Your smile warmed my heart, defrosting my from my icy shell, my pain from the past. The more we talked, both with and apart from my sister as the years went one, I realized that I really enjoyed my time with you, and you made me really happy. But recently, I’ve come to my senses and finally realize that I’m in love with you. And I’m hoping, praying, that you love me back.” you feel like you’ve been talking for hours, when in reality you’ve only talked for 5 minutes. You practically sped through the confession, trying to get it over with, barely giving yourself time to breath.

You look over at Sam, who’s eyes are sparkling, tears welled up in them. He has the widest, brightest, most beautiful smile on his face and he can’t even believe what he’s just heard.

He shifts closer to you on his bed and caresses your face with his soft hands, tucking your hair behind your ears. His eyes flit from your eyes to your lips and back again. He makes eye contact with you once again.

“May I?” he asks, his voice low and husky, with a whisper.

You nod, and he pulls you in to kiss you. He hold your body closely tightly against his by your waist and kiss you with all his might. You can feel his plump, soft lips against your and soon after the two of you part, drawing ragged breaths.

He licks his lips. “You’re refreshing. Like iced tea on a hot summer day.” he says with that same beautiful smile.

His hand comes up to your chin, and brings it down, slightly parting your lips. He brings you in for a kiss once again, his tongue slipping into your mouth with fervor, the flavors of the two of you mixing together. You two part once again and Sam stares into your eyes.

“I love you too Yuki. I’ve loved you ever since we met. You’re the most beautiful human I’ve ever laid eyes on. I love your smile, your laughter, your gorgeous, sparkling eyes, your voice.” he looks wistfully at you. “Will you be my girlfriend?”he asks, hopefully looking into your eyes, love pouring out of him.

“Yes!! I love you so much!!” you giggle as you embrace him in another hug.

“I should’ve asked you sooner.” he says, his head nestled in the nape of your neck, smiling.

He wanted to stay like this forever, and so did you.

summary: you’ve been eyeing your best friend's brother for some time, but you’ve never said anything, for you feared that he wouldn’t like you back. your best friend ruko, seems to think he may like you too. luckily for you, his birthday is tomorrow! What will happen when you confess you love for him then?

Tomorrow is Sam’s birthday and you think that the gift you’ve planned for him, it’s really more of a confession is too much. You’ve made an elaborate card, carefully worded to make sure he doesn’t get weirded out, you bought him all his favorite snacks, you went all out for this man. You even painted him a portrait of his favorite flower. Roses. 

You start pacing around your room, the walls feeling like they're closing in on you as you constantly overthink and spew nonsense about your worries for Ruko to hear. Ruko, sitting on your bed, assures you, “I’ve known Sam for over like 1,000 years. We’re literally siblings. If he didn’t like you a teensy bit I would know.” You interject, “I know, I know, Ruko,” you say with an exasperated sigh. “But it’s not as simple as that! What if he thinks I’m weird or something!! We don’t even know each other too well!” “You… and my brother… don't know each other too well?!?!,” Ruko says with an annoyed and slightly shocked face. “Then how come, every night you would sleep over at my house after dragging me there hungover you would always be chatting it up with him in the morning? Huh? Do you even think??? If I wasn’t your friend, hell, if I wasn’t even his sister, I still would have been able to see the chemistry you two have!” All of Ruko’s yelling kinda snaps it into you. “You’re right. I think I just need to muster up the courage.” you say.

Just then, Ruko’s phone rings. “Speak of the motherfucking devil.” she says. “Yo! Sam’s on the phone come say hi Yuki!” Ruko whisper-shouts. You’re even redder than the spiciest chili pepper, but slowly you walk over to where Ruko is sitting. “Hi Sam!” you say, mustering up the strongest voice you can get. “Oh! Hey Yuki! I haven’t seen you in a while! You comin’ to my birthday party tomorrow? I sure hope you are!” His words leave you in shock, but you keep going on. “Yea! I’m coming to your party! I’ve got a surprise for you!!” You’re alarmed at the words that came out of your mouth, hoping and praying that he didn’t hear you, but knowing full well that he did. “Oh yea?,” he says. You can hear the cockiness in his voice. It made your heart flutter and the butterflies in your stomach were all over the place. “I can’t wait to see it then. Anyway, bye Ruko! Bye Yuki! Love you guys!,” Sam says. “Love you too!” you and Ruko say in unison. “OMG! Girl. You just said Love you to my brother!!” she squeals in delight. She’s been waiting for you to slip up. All you can think about is how bad you’ve fumbled. “YA! If you bring this shit up again I swear you’re gonna sleep on my couch the next few nights.” This is the final straw for you. “NO! NO! NEVER! Please! I’ll stop! Not the couch!” Ruko writhes in fake pain. You guys laugh this off like good friends always do and get comfy in your bed. 

You try to fall asleep but all you can think of is how you’ve accidentally already confessed your love to Sam. It takes a while, but as you start to doze off, you start another one of your fantasies, lulling you into a deep sleep.

a/n: very short! im sorry about the length of this! my creative juices were not flowing as much as i hoped they would be.

Sam’s dreams that night were occupied by you. He’d been in love with you for 5 years, ever since you and his sister became friends. When he first saw you, he thought you were the most beautiful human he had ever seen. He admired the way your smile and laughter lit up the room. The sparkles in your eyes when you laughed. He loved every part of you. Meeting you and talking to you for the first time just deepened his affection for you. Your voice was refreshing, like jumping in a pool on a hot, sunny summer day. He just knew he couldn’t wait to see you tomorrow.

the next day:

“Yuki! Wake up! I let you sleep like 3 hours extra! His party is in like 2 hours! You need to get ready!” Ruko shouts. She’s slightly concerned for you, as you’ve never slept so late in your life.

Still feeling a bit tired, you slowly get up, wincing from the brught light shining through your windows. Looking around, you see the time. It’s 3PM. His party starts in 2 hours. *OH MY GOSH! His party starts in 2 hours!* you think to yourself.

“Shit, shit shit! I overslept! Ugh! Ruko, you should’ve woken me up!” you yell at your friend, upset that she didn’t wake you up earlier. Especially knowing that today was a super important day for you.

“I’m sorry! I just figured you were super tired! Besides, you had some stupid smile on while you sleeping. I didn’t wanna interrupt your dream. That fuckin’ sucks.” Ruko admits.

“Oh! Well… in that case- thanks I guess.” Your right hand moving to the back of your head, awkwardly scratching at your scalp.

“You were dreaming about my brother weren’t you.” Ruko states matter-of-factly.

“I would never! I’ve never dreamt of your brother! Ever… Totally.” You gasped. Even though you said that, it was completely unbelievable. Anyone could see through that façade.

a few hours later:

You and Ruko had finished getting ready and you were on the way to the party, your extravagant gift in hand. As you pull up to Sam’s house, you catch a glimpse of him hanging out with his friends. Even in that large crowd of people, you could spot him. Clear as day. He’s always been the object of your affection.

You and Ruko get out of her car and the two of you drop off your gifts. Before you guys get accustomed to the party, you make your way over to Sam.

“Hey Sam!! Happy birthday!! Oh my goodness I can’t believe how big you’re getting!” Ruko exclaims as she pulls her brother in for a warm embrace.

Sam glances at you, squished in the hug, mouthing the words *Help me* with a smile. The two of you snicker and once Ruko is done hugging her brother you hug him as well.

You can smell the cologne he’s wearing. It smells like vanilla, and a bit like lavender. His embrace is warm and makes you feel warm, secure, and at home. As your hug ends and the two of you start to pull apart from each other, you make eye contact. The two of you can plainly see that neither of you wanted to let go of the other.

“Oh! Sam! I want you to open my gift first! If that’s okay with you that is…” you say shyly.

“Of course darling! I was gonna do that anyway!” he says with a smile that could light the whole world, and a chuckle as sweet as a baby’s laughter.

“I have to be with you when you open it. Alone.” you say. The air has suddenly become tense an serious with your words and tone.

“Oh! Of course Yuki! I’ll make sure that we can have time together. I can’t wait to open it.” he says. His smile is so wide and bright, as if he was the sun himself. His words and smile warmed you and made you feel like everything was going to be all right.
