A small rant with all the respect and love I have for this show and fandom!
I think many of us don't value AMC enough. I don't want to kiss a big corporation's ass, but here are the facts.
AMC is a small channel that has been experiencing financial difficulties for years.
Their streaming is nothing for the industry.
The channel's audience, with such a heteronormative history, has a clear resistance to iwtv
And yet it's also clear that amc think of iwtv as something long term
I see a lot of people bashing amc and prasing netflix for their work on social media (which it is very likely that amc is paying to have) but I see no difference in what the immortal universe accounts does... the only real difference is that the reach of one is millions of times greater!
I'm going to be very honest here, personally I don't understand some disproportionate complaints about amc's marketing work with the series, I followed everything from the announcement of the Season 2 renewal, to the last episode's release, and considering all the company's problems, I found the work very decent, we need to understand that amc is not hbo or netflix, the series will not become a mainstream success overnight and maybe not at all.
We have to be thankful that they are thinking long term, because this would never happen on Netflix. For me, amc's biggest mistake is not having a more efficient worldwide distribution strategy, in this matter they make a huge mistake and it's a problem!
But this time on Netflix is being good to humble us, the series is not making it into the top 10, and with the cherry on top, Mayfair Witches is! and that reminds me of something else, let's avoid bashing the other Immortal Universe series on the official social media, even if you don't like it or don't care, just don't engage! MW has a appeal with the regular audience, so we have to stop thinking otherwise. The rivalry will do more harm then anything else to The Vampire Chronicles future on television, because for the company the project is the whole universe!
Also amc is that. a company, not a fan club! they need to work on the other products, there is no point in harassing the social media manager because they're probably working on several things at the same time.
Ultimately, the fandom needs to be more strategic, the future of the show is our priority, but for that to happen we have to be realistic and humble.
Anyway closing with this cute jam moment!

So you saw fell in love with Lily Gladstone in Killers of the Flower Moon and now you want her on your screen as much as possible? I’m here to help.

Certain Women directed by Kelly Reichardt
This was the first time I saw Lily Gladstone in anything and I screamed about her specifically for days. The film is segmented into three stories about women living in the northwestern plains region of the US. All three segments are good, but Lily Gladstone’s is by far my favorite. She plays a ranch hand who starts sitting in on a night school law class when she develops a crush on the teacher, played by (bonus!) Kristen Stewart.
Certain Women is streaming on The Criterion Channel, AMC+, and Kanopy (Kanopy is free!). It is also available to rent on the major platforms.

The Unknown Country directed by Morrisa Maltz
This movie is stunning. Think Nomadland but even more stripped down. Lily Gladstone plays a character on a roadtrip to reunite with her estranged family after the death of her grandmother. Along the way she tries to learn more about who her grandmother was in life and reconnect with her memory. A lot of the film is unscripted, and breathtaking shots of the western US landscape punctuate the brief encounters she has at each stop on her journey.
The Unknown Country is available to rent on the major platforms such as Apple TV, Amazon, and YouTube.

Quantum Cowboys directed by Geoff Marslett
This one’s for the multiverse fans. A really fun romp that might make your head hurt if you think about it too hard. Lily Gladstone plays a character in the 1870’s southwest who encounters a pair of travelers stuck in a time loop (sort of). She enlists their help (sort of) in a plan to recover land that was taken from her and in return helps them in their attempt to break their cycle. Most of the film is rotoscope animation, so it’s a completely different type of a performance from Lily Gladstone. I had the extraordinary luck of meeting her at a festival screening last year and they said it was such a fun deviation from their usual hyper realistic work.
Quantum Cowboys is available to rent on major platforms such as Apple TV, Amazon, and YouTube.

Fancy Dance directed by Erica Tremblay
The most recent Lily Gladstone film to blow me away, and maybe my favorite film of 2023. Lily Gladstone plays a character who has been trying to find her missing sister while simultaneously providing care for her sister’s daughter. When it appears she may lose custody, the two hit the road to search for the teen’s mother. It’s sad and sweet and beautiful. I have to warn that the subject matter is heavy and all too real but that’s why it’s an important story. It’s about something that is so pervasive, yet people outside of the community affected turn a blind eye to it.
Fancy Dance can be seen in select theaters and is now streaming on Apple TV+. Erica Tremblay previously directed Lily Gladstone in the short film Little Chief, which can be found on Vimeo.
#lily gladstone#killers of the flower moon#certain women#the unknown country#quantum cowboys#fancy dance#little chief#these are just the works that really showcase her skill in my opinion#you can also find her in smaller roles in first cow reservation dogs walking out and others#she is unmatched as an actor no matter how small the role#i could go on

I am not undermining Project 2025 and current Democracy guardrails being made of mostly Trump supporters (unlike 2016) but it's important to take note most of media censorship will probably be self-inflicted by spineless or corrupted media institutions and public yielding to it.
I live in Turkey and we have a full blown dictator here, record number of journalists and civillians in prisons over merely critizing him and his goverment or worse for exposing criminal deeds. He targeted whole company for it's media section not being supporters and made them bankrupt by using govermental authority. However even in this insanely harsh regime (he established a govermental institution which directly answers to him) auto-censorship is more profound. If it doesn't exist he wouldn't grow this powerful.
Please don't fall into blackhole of auto-censorship US and I hope AMC executives don't fall either.
With that being said i truly truly hope w 3rd season shows starts to see hundreds million minute kind of numbers otherwise Amc headquarters will probably be encouraged for an early finale.
Sorry for drawing a grim picture but i know exactly what censorship is. Two things can break it, courage and/or money.
*hugs*
Yeah I hope AMC - and our cast/writers/show runners - hold true.
I would like to say here that not all will be up to them, voluntary folding or not. There are a LOT of moving pieces.
But it’s not gotten easier, that’s for sure.
Again, to implore you guys:
try - if you can - to make IWTV lucrative for AMC. Buy their merch, the DVDs, the BluRays. The OSTs. Stream on official channels. Let it run in the background if you can.
Only money will be able to win this, money and “spine“. And their spine can be fortified by money, and I don’t mean that in any way negatively, because their fight for this show will involve money and monetary considerations. Because it won‘t be policy-aligning from now for a while.

On December 2nd, 2023 (12/02/23), RTVS drops a teaser for a future Half-Life 2: But the AI are Self Aware stream(s) in the official WRTV discord server (also available on Wayne's channel).
The teaser was simple and had a date displayed over the 28 second video, December 16th, 2023 (12/16/23). That was two weeks ago. As of today, December 17th, 2023 (12/17/23, nearly 1:40 AM EST), the stream had already happened.
It was set to start at 6pm EST, a delay caused the stream to be pushed back 30 minutes. At roughly 6:38 PM EST, the stream was again delayed due to difficulties. Many in both the offline Twitch chat and the official WRTV server were impatient, though those who have love in their hearts understood that the crew needed to deal with it, and chose to be patient and kind. Everyone was expecting a second season to the ever beloved Half-Life: But the AI are Self Aware (HLVRAI) series. I read that there were over 20k viewers (I didn't see the number myself, but I was there).
At roughly 7:02 PM EST, the stream finally started. A black screen with ambiance, quiet, making the chat explode with joy. The teaser plays again (minus the date text over the video). The glasses that were seen in the teaser trailer then became those of Walter White, the famed main character of AMC's Breaking Bad.
The stream that was originally supposed to be for HL2VRAI became the funniest joke RTVS could have done, Breaking Bad VR but the AI is Self Aware (BBVRAI). The entire stream was misleading viewers, from the stream title being labled "The Science Team Rises Again" and the game being set to Gary's Mod, from the lead up of the opening to the teaser trailer. Everyone was so prepared for Half-Life.
The stream lost thousands of viewers, and I, who stayed to watch, am overjoyed that they left. I had so much fun, I know next to nothing about BrBa, so the entire stream was a delight! I could tell that the cast and crew had fun planning and making the stream. Those who left missed out on many fun moments, especially the Coomer cameo in one of the scenes! Those who left also missed the official HL2VRAI trailer shown at the end. All in all, those who got pissy and complained that it wasn't HL2VRAI, and those who started being mean to the RTVS crew, missed out on something so FUNNY and so perfect! Such a shame.
#long post#hlvrai#bbvrai#tldr; stream was funny some of u cunts need to grow the fuck up 😭#keep talkin miles

LOS ANGELES (KTLA) – Some of the biggest names in pop, rock and country are coming together to raise funds for victims of the Palisades and Eaton wildfires and assist with the recovery.
A benefit concert, FireAid, will take place on Jan. 30 on two stages, one at Intuit Dome and the other at The Kia Forum, organizers announced on Thursday.
More than 15 music acts have been announced so far, including Billie Eilish and Finneas, Earth, Wind & Fire, Gracie Abrams, Green Day, Gwen Stefani, Jelly Roll, Joni Mitchell, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Lil Baby, P!nk, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rod Stewart, Sting, Stephen Stills, Stevie Nicks, Tate McRae, and performing together for the first time, Dave Matthews and John Mayer.
Additional artists will be announced in the coming days.
This special event is being produced by Shelli, Irving, and the Azoff family in conjunction with Live Nation and AEG Presents. Proceeds will be directed to a new nonprofit that supports displaced families, helps rebuild infrastructure, and improves fire prevention technologies and strategies to ensure Los Angeles is better prepared for wildfires in the future.
Tickets go on sale Wednesday, January 22. Tap here for FireAid ticket information.
Fans across the globe will be able to make contributions to the cause, as FireAid will be broadcast and streamed live on Apple Music and the Apple TV app, Max, iHeartRadio, KTLA+, Netflix/Tudom, Paramount+, Prime Video and the Amazon Music Channel on Twitch, SiriusXM, exclusively on “LIFE with John Mayer,” Spotify, SoundCloud, Veeps, and YouTube, and at select AMC Theatre locations in 70 US markets. iHeartRadio will serve as the national audio partner to FireAid, using its more than 860 radio stations, its digital platforms and the iHeartRadio app.
KTLA is a broadcast and streaming partner of FireAid. KTLA Vice President and General Manager Janene Drafs said the station reached out to its partners at Intuit Dome in the early stages of planning for the concert to see how we could help.
“They immediately welcomed KTLA into the conversation. From the beginning, they knew this concert needed to be about more than just the music; it also had to share the stories of the personal loss and of the heroic efforts of our First Responders,” said Drafs. “As a local news organization, we are both humbled and honored to provide footage from the fire lines and share some of the significant stories we have reported with the organizers of FireAid. Those images captured by KTLA will be integrated into this unprecedented streaming event.”

Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea adaptation comes to Prime Video after being scrapped by Disney Plus
Nautilus, which features Richard E Grant as a guest star, will arrive on Prime Video later this year.

Nautilus, the 10-episode series inspired by Jules Verne’s Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, was initially ordered by Disney Plus in 2021, but in 2023 it hit rocky shores.
This was because the show, which by that point had been filmed in full, was dropped by the streaming service as part of a strategy shift.
Thankfully for US audiences, it was announced last year that AMC would air the series stateside – however, for a long time UK audiences still had to wait for any news as to whether they would ever get to see it.
Now, finally, some good news has arrived, with the series officially set to launch on Prime Video in the UK and Ireland from Friday 25th October 2024.

Shazad Latif in Nautilus. Disney/Prime Video
The series stars Shazad Latif, Georgia Flood, Thierry Fremont and Céline Menville, while Richard E Grant, Anna Torv and Noah Taylor all make guest appearances across the run.
The official synopsis says: "Nautilus tells the origin story of Captain Nemo: an Indian Prince robbed of his birthright and family, joining him as he steals a formidable prototype submarine and escapes into the Indian Ocean with a ragtag crew, determined to enact revenge against the ruthless East India Mercantile Company."
Around the same time that Nautilus was dropped by Disney Plus, the streamer also decided not to move forward with an already completed adaptation of The Spiderwick Chronicles.
That series also managed to find a new home, airing on the Roku channel earlier this year.
Nautilus will launch exclusively on Prime Video in the UK and Ireland on Friday 25th October 2024.

The Bastard Son & the Devil Himself (aka Half Bad) was cancelled by Netflix after one season, but there is still a chance that fans could lobby for a revival.
Can It Be Revived?
At this point, it may seem like The Bastard Son & the Devil Himself is dead in the water, but an important milestone is coming up which may present an opportunity to revive the series. Netflix generally owns the streaming rights to a property for a minimum of two years. So unless it has an extended hold on the show, the rights should revert back to The Imaginarium by the end of 2024. If fans were to get this one trending on social media again, perhaps that could interest another venue in picking it up for a second season. This show is likely not one of the more expensive streaming productions, so it may be attractive as an affordable scripted property that already has a built-in audience.
The Roku Channel recently enjoyed some success after picking up the cancelled Spiderwick Chronicles from Disney+. And AMC’s horror-focused streaming service Shudder might also be a good landing spot for the show. I don’t know if they have the budget for a property like this, but it is worth trying or possibly targeting some of the bigger services as a budget addition to their scripted lineup. It has been less than two years since the show was cancelled, so picking up where the first season left off is still a very real possibility. And if the rights do indeed go back to The Imaginarium by the end of the year, now is a good time for fans to start building some momentum to interest another streamer in taking a flyer on the show when it is available.

"THERE CAN BE a huge range of reasons why a show in 2024—this one or any other—doesn’t have the reach it deserves; endless pixels have been spilled on streamer fatigue and fractured audiences in the past few years. AMC, a darling of the prestige-TV-on-cable era, is in an especially strange position: Even when Interview’s first season was a hit on its streaming service, AMC+, it was still held up as an example of a troubled industry in transition. Two years and two Hollywood strikes later, the situation is even more complicated. As the industry restructures and changes who can watch what where, a disconnect has emerged between what viewers like and what critics do. At the same time, social media platforms—the loci of 21st-century word of mouth—continue to implode, fracturing the conversation of an already dispersed audience. Amidst this, IWTV faces specific hurdles due to the nature of the show. An adaptation of Anne Rice’s 1976 novel that pulls heavily from the many Vampire Chronicles books that followed, the show racebends many of its leads—its titular vampire, Louis de Pointe du Lac, is now Black—and goes all in on the queerness of the books. And it is, of course, about vampires—specifically, vampires who do terrible things. “IWTV has so much that a modern audience could want from a series but, unfortunately, some people won’t receive it solely because it’s a queer horror show with majority BIPOC leads,” says Bobbi Miller, a culture critic who recaps the show on her YouTube channel. “Genre TV is always going to have to jump through more hoops for success than a standard drama.” For the converted, the idea that more people aren’t watching Interview is maddening. One could certainly argue that the show, with its dark, twisted Gothicness and emotional maximalism, isn’t for everyone. But in an era of unceremonious cancellations—even of shows that execs touted as hits—and with an absence of information about the show’s future, it’s understandable that its most dedicated fans would be pushing for more viewers. Interview isn’t the only show whose fans question its marketing efforts; it’s a common accusation leveled at streamers of all sorts, especially when a show is canceled. But in this conversation, Interview fans pointed at specific decisions made by the network that many feel have made this season’s rollout feel so much more muted than the last. “It’s been a conversation that fans have been talking about for a while now, but I think what really set them off was the comment made by Film Updates,” says Rei Gorrei, a fan who dubs herself the “Unofficial Vampire Chronicles Spokesperson.” A pop-culture aggregation account with nearly a million followers, Film Updates revealed they had been denied interview requests with the show’s talent—and since fans were worried no one was hearing about IWTV, they couldn’t understand why that reach wasn’t being capitalized on. “I think the combination of these things along with little marketing leaves fans in a word-of-mouth scenario where we now feel like it’s up to us to campaign for the season three renewal,” Gorrei says. Many questioned the promotion the network had been implementing, too, like the decision to never have Anderson and Assad Zaman, whose characters’ romance is one of the main focuses of the season, interviewed together. Episode five in particular, with its explosive fight scene between the two, would have been a prime opportunity. (AMC did not respond to emails seeking comment for this story.) Other fans raised concerns about the unceremonious cancelation of the widely admired official podcast, whose Black female host, Naomi Ekperigin, felt like the perfect interviewer for a show with Black leads and nuanced racial storylines. Then there was the fact that too few episodes would air in time for Emmy consideration—not the fault of marketing, but yet one more source of fan worry."
Interview With the Vampire Fans Say the Stakes Have Never Been Higher by Elizabeth Minkel
#thought this was a really good summary of the discussions going on which those outside of Twitter circles may find interesting#hopefully the article may push AMC to address some of the concerns#(by which I don't mean getting on with announcing its renewal which I have complete confidence in)#and develop a proper sense of racial awareness#there have been several indie (YouTube channels and the like) interviews with Assad this week#Jacob has a lot of committments but it would be great to get something with both of them#Interview with the Vampire#Internet and Nerd Culture#Jagged Jottings

do you feel like acquiring newsreader indicates an investment or confidence in Sam/IWTV? I'm excited to finally be able to (legally lol) watch it.
Mm, yes and no? I think there are a few things at play, but I do think it indicates some interesting strategic moves and them strengthening their relationship with the ABC, which is our Australian equivalent of the BBC in the UK as a taxpayer funded, government-owned national broadcaster. The ABC makes The Newsreader, but also already airs a lot of AMC shows here (IWTV, Killing Eve and Kevin Can Fuck Himself being the main ones, I think), so they already seem to have some sort of distribution deal between them.
The Australian government has been in the process of introducing quotas for international streamers. This has been a long, drawn out, politically fraught process in the industry, so I won't get into the weeds of all of it, but the basic facts of it are that some time in the next year or so, the Australian government will be telling Netflix, Disney, Prime, etc. that they have to invest a certain amount in Australian content, either by making it or acquiring it, if they want to continue operating in the country.
The streamers - particularly Netflix - have been aggressively fighting the government on this, hence this process has been drawn out and the unions have all been doing a lot of work to keep it high on the agenda (like, we were supposed to know what the quotas were going to be in mid-2023 and probably won't until mid-2025 at this rate. Netflix is the one who was pushing it back specifically until after the election, because they think a Trump administration might be able to crush the quotas going through at all - it's been....pretty ugly and very frustrating and very much a reminder that Australia has very little weight on the world stage).
AMC (and Prime, actually, of which AMC+ is a channel on here) though has kind of I'd say been leaning into it a little? They've been really ramping up their presence at conferences and markets here and seem to be genuinelly trying to work with local producers in getting ahead of it. AMC hasn't made many Australian shows yet (although they've made a First Nations vampire show, Firebite, which is unfortunately not very good), but I know they've been out here quite a lot in-person, and I know my producer has met with them a few times and likes the team and thinks they're genuine in wanting to work with Australian creative teams.
The ABC makes quite a lot of Australian shows (again, they're owned by the Australian government, so they kind of have to, haha) and a lot of it is pretty good? The Newsreader's just one part of their drama slate, but they do a lot of comedy (including two of our best sitcoms, Utopia and Fisk) too. Developing a stronger relationship with the ABC and potentially having a reciprocal distribution deal could be a very good way for AMC+ to get on top of the streaming quotas early, become a preferred partner for Australian producers by being an early adopter, and just overall develop relationships with Australian talent, which they're doing not just with Sam through IWTV, but Emma as a director who also directs both for IWTV and literally every episode of The Newsreader.
That's not even getting into the fact that Australia has one of the best tax offsets for productions and post-production in the world, which is definitely of interest to them, I'd say, given one of the only country's that beats our offset is Prague which is notably where they shoot IWTV, haha. It's why so many blockbusters are shot here though, from Fall Guy to Aquaman, and why so many films do their post-production here.
So yeah, I would say it's probably a little bit indicative of an investment in Sam (and Emma), but I think it's also probably more about shoring up their relationship with the ABC ahead of the quotas being introduced (if they even are anymore). That said, I do think AMC is invested in IWTV - they're putting a lot into building out that storyworld and spinning off franchises and IWTV is the anchor of all of that. :-)
#more information than you perhaps require haha sorry#the quotas are happening more and more internationally actually#it's been interesting to see#tv asks#kinda#the newsreader asks#Sam asks

Important message
I'm not going to post the numbers here because it won't help anything, but the ratings for the season on TV has been really REALLY rough, and the tendency is to get worse this month, with the return of big shows. Let's be realistic that we don't know how AMC will make a decision to maintain the series. how the project is thought of in the long term.
Cable TV is still the biggest revenue source for channels. We know that amc tv's audience is niche and it conflicts with a queer show, MW's S1 itself had a better reception than IWTV's S1 (unfortunately this is the reality) At the very least, the show depends a lot on amc+ and the platforms that also sell it, we know amc+ is far from being a top dog streaming platform.
I don't know what the situation is with iwtv on the amc+ charts, and its position with the most watched ones, but I hope it's enough. Subscribing and showing show your interest in the series is important... I really want the show to continue but the situation is very uncomfortable.
Sometimes the fandom gets too involved in fights about couples, decisions, character behavior, and forgets that the show is a product, and needs support. so stream, engage on all the Immortal universe and amc social media, it' all fundamental

Bingo Bango! Disney Branded Television has set primetime premieres for Big City Greens Season 4 slated to debut Saturday September 23 at 8:00PM EST only on Disney Channel and streaming October 25 only on Disney+.
The episodes airing on September 23 – 'Truck Stopped / Jingled' – have "Tilly and Cricket wrestle with indecision at a truck stop between Big City and the country" in the former, while the latter sees Tilly becoming a Big City jingle writer and rising through the ranks. In addition to premiering on Disney Channel, episodes will also be added to Disney Plus on October 25, 2023.
Guest Stars on Season 4 include musican Michael Bolton as Rick Razzle on Jingled where Tilly wants to become a Big City jingle writer and rising through the ranks. Other guest stars for Season Four include June Diane Raphael (Marvel "Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur"), Tom Green ("The Tom Green Show"),NHL player Brad Marchand,Margo Martindale (Sony Pictures "Cocaine Bear"),podcaster Justin McElroy, Tim Meadows (ABC Network "The Goldbergs"), Dean Norris (AMC "Breaking Bad", "Better Call Saul"), Comedian Ms. Pat, Amy Seradis (Netflix "Bojack Horseman", Lucasfilm "The Mandalorian") and comedian Trevor Wallace.
Since it's debut on 2018, Big City Greens has been one of Disney Television Animation recent hits with multiple shorts, a NHL game -themed broadcast special in collaboration with ESPN and a animated feature film based on the series is on production slated for a 2024 release, the series spawned a new legacy of Disney TVA creators like Natasha Kline with chicano lead-driven animated comedy series "Primos" slated for 2024 and more animated shows on development for Disney Channel by Big City Greens Alumnis. (Cheyenne Curtis,Monica Ray, Amy Hudkins,Raj Bruggemann and Houghton Brothers mentor C.H Greenblatt) who will be getting series orders in the coming months.
The new season will include the show's 100th episode, which is a major landmark for any animated series, but especially for a Disney Channel series with few ever making it quite that far. "Season four is pure insanity," says Chris Houghton, Big City Greens co-creator and executive producer. "Tilly becomes a commercial jingle-writer, Cricket tries stand-up comedy, Bill loses his mind like six times, and Gramma dabbles in minimalism. The fact that we have such a fun arena to play in when it comes to these characters is not lost on us or our crew. Even though we’ve told so many stories with these characters, this season feels fresher than ever." "There are some very funny and silly episodes in this season," adds Shane, "like 'Handshaken' where country folks act like western gunslingers, but assert their power through firm handshakes. There are also a few emotional episodes that reach out and give your heart a good squeeze – 'Family Tree' is one that makes me tear up every time I watch a cut of it. And biggest of all, Chip Whistler is back! This season may have more action, adventure, and thrills than any previous season! And here's a couple rapid-fire teases you’ll see in season four: Gloria hires a new café employee, Vasquez goes to therapy, and the kids meet a long lost family member."
Additionaly Big City Greens will continue with new shorts trought the Disney TVA multi-platform division trought Chibi Tiny Tales, Broken Karaoke,Theme Song Takeover, How NOT To Draw & Random Rings.
Big City Greens characters will continue to host on the Disney Television Animation's crossover compilation series "Chibiverse" as it's second season is slated to debut Saturday September 23.

Mythic Symbolism in the Mayfair Witches
a mythic and psychoanalytical thread exploring themes of: alchemy, star lovers, fairytales, greek myth, three fold goddesses, and beastly grooms within the amc series ‘anne rice’s mayfair witches’
*disclaimer*
This post will be split up into multiple parts as it is very lengthy.
The point of this post is not to discuss how the show adapts the source material, but instead how the show stands on its own, utilizing psychological and mythic motifs in its plot and character journeys.
For those who want to see the show, it is available on physical DVD and Blue-Ray as well as streaming. The entire eight episode first season is available on AMC+ which you can get a free trial for through Prime Video channels.
A second season has also already been green-lit. However the first season ends on what I would consider a very satisfying note.
Part One, Part Two
————————————————————————
THE TRIPLE GODDESS: MAIDEN, MOTHER, CRONE
Aside from Rowan’s story, there are two other Mayfair women whose lives we follow. The progenitor Suzanne in the 17th century, and Rowan’s biological mother Deirdre. While together they each represent one of the goddesses, we also see each of them move through these roles in their own journeys.

The concept of the triple goddess also has strong roots in the myth of the Greek Fates and the Norns of Norse myth. Both represent the Birth/Life/Death cycle. This archetype is also strongly associated with Persephone, Demeter and Hecate, or Artemis, Selene, and Hecate.
Each of these Mayfair women has a role directly associated with life and death. For example, Suzanne is a midwife whose work, like her aunt says, is not just curing people but also helping give them a good death.

Rowan, like Persephone as Maureen Murdock puts it, is pulled out of the innocence of everyday life into a deeper consciousness of self by Hades. Or in this case Lasher.
Furthermore, Deirdre like Demeter is overcome with grief and surrenders to her sorrow, when her daughter is taken from her. However in this instance her daughter is taken away by Carlotta.

Suzanne is like Hecate as Jean Shinoda Bolen describes, a guiding companion force. When Rowan meets a crossroads in her journey at the Witching Hour, Suzanne is there to guide her as the first matriarch, as a mistress of life and death.

They each have mirroring moments in their journeys. Just like Rowan, Suzanne too was visited by a murder of crows, and the Dark Night of the Soul that Rowan is facing is likened in dialogue to the dark subconscious place Deirdre is trapped. In fact, episode two is titled The Dark Place.

Each of them share the same animus. A being known as Lasher. He is bonded to each of the “Designees”, the matriarchs of the Mayfair family. We’ll delve into him soon enough.
DREAMS AND THE SUBCONSCIOUS

When Rowan uses her powers on the crows, causing a couple of them to fall down dead, she lays them down in her jacket, and drives off to a beach. She then walks to the shore and digs into the sand until she has a hole she can bury the crows in.
After this she takes a pill to force herself to sleep, both exhausted and desperate to flee into oblivion to escape her consciousness as it begins to recognize her shadow. But now as she is laying by the ocean, she is submerged in the unconscious.
She experiences a dream that evokes Cinderella, fairy godmothers, transformation, and spiritual death. She is wearing a shimmering blue gown, and is chasing after Ellie who is leading her somewhere. She runs after her mother, who leads her to The Mayfair House.

Whenever we see the house, it’s presented as a piece of nature itself, overgrown, hidden among trees, and the sound of water. It is a true representation of the subconscious, the underworld.
A FALSE START AND CLEANSING FIRE
When she finally goes to New Orleans, we think she’s going to get the answers she needs and reconnect with the feminine. However forces intervene and Rowan’s first impression of her Mayfair lineage and the power she possesses is one of fear, in part thanks to Ciprien Grieve. He means well, but his actions and perspective are a literal extension of Ellie as the “too good mother”.

The organization called the Talamasca that Ciprien is part of, actually puts a spell around his building where Rowan is staying. Which acts as a wall or barrier keeping Rowan separated from her Shadow. It was made to keep Lasher out. This is when we have that cleansing flame, as Lasher sets a fire to get the alarms to go off and Rowan to leave the building.
And the first thing she intends to do, is find the Mayfair House which as we know is her subconscious…

to your other anon still worrying about cancelation rumors. listen to "channels with peter kafka" podcast with eric. it's done in 2022, but he talks some interesting stuff about the amc's method in comparison to other streaming platforms. he was pretty sure the universe is secure even back then. i think we can trust his judgment. also, it's just a great interview.
Thanks for the rec!
Have not listened to it either (yet), so looking forward to that!
