Video: Boyfriend arrested after allegedly killing 300 Level UNIPORT student

The police in Rivers State have arrested Damian Okoligwe, a 400-level student of Petroleum Engineering, University of Port Harcourt, UNIPORT, for allegedly killing his 20-year-old ex-lover for money ritual. Nkang, a 300-level Biochemistry female student of the University of Port Harcourt who had earlier been reported missing, was found mutilated at the suspect’s residence situated on Road 15, NTA Road, Port Harcourt, Rivers State. It was gathered that Okoligwe was caught by his estate security personnel when he was trying to dispose of the victim’s body. Witnesses stormed the suspect’s apartment after the security team raised the alarm, where they discovered Justina’s dismembered body parts in bloody sacks. Graduating with Credit Debt is Risky

Many Students exit college with Student Loans and Credit Debt.

The question is, will you be able to afford it?

College is expensive with cost’s increasing yearly over the last decade. A heavy course load and absent finances have many students turning to credit cards and personal loans to assist with daily living expenses. Many students are setting themselves up for failure after graduation. High monthly credit interest payments coupled with a bill from the federal government is a lot to overcome monthly.

Let’s first examine college costs in 2019. 66% of the graduating class in 2019 had an average federal loan of $29,900 https://www.ticas.org. That’s is two-thirds of students. Meaning, it is likely that you, the reader falls into this majority. The current loan interest rate is 4.53% in 2020. Accepting a federal loan begins the students first Credit Profile. If we include other living expenses such as, car, phone, insurance, utilities, rent or mortgage? The student can find themselves in a big financial hole after graduation.

Credit Profile

A person’s credit profile has become the most important aspect to prospective lenders. The credit profile is based on the offset of income vs. debt; which makes up 30 percent of your credit profile. Other associated credit factors include

a new credit line, the length of credit history, and credit line payment history. Therefore, without even applying for a credit card you are inadvertently placing your future at a disadvantage. Missing a payment on a student loan can cause a credit drop of 100 points affecting 35% of an overall credit rating.

Although students have received federal loans to pay for college, a supplement for day to day costs will still be needed. This is often supplemented with credit cards and further loans. As you go forth into the job force remember that debt accrued during your student years will have a strong bearing on your future. All debts need to be paid to stay in front of crippling credit repercussions. Responsibility today can set you up for success in the future. If you must apply for credit to supplement your cost of living please follow these suggestions:

· Read all fine print

· Keep your credit profile Parameters in line

Having too many credit cards or too high of a credit balance can be difficult to manage. Especially, when accompanied by a student loan.

Before we start, these cards are all specifically marketed towards students, with students written in the title Discover It Student Cash Back Card This card has the same rewards earning structure as the regular Discover it card. It has 5% Cashback on rotating quarterly categories upwards of $1500 of spending per quarter.

The quarterly categories can be Amazon.com, grocery stores, restaurants, gas stations, or when you pay using PayPal. Now I do have the exact time of the year that each category starts and ends, I’ll put it up here on the screen.

So In January until March 2021, You’ll get 5% at Grocery stores, Walgreens and CVS including Walmart Grocery pickup and delivery purchases; but excludes all other Walmart and Target purchases.

Next up, In April through Jun 2021, you’ll get 5% back at Gas stations, Wholesale clubs, and select streaming services. In July through September 2021, we get 5% back at restaurants and PayPal.

And lastly, at the best time of the year, Q4, we will get 5% at Amazon, Walmart, And Target online only. Since a lot of people shop for the holidays in Q4, this is the best time to whip out your discover it card and get that nice juicy 5% back. Meaning a total of $75 of cashback up for grabs every quarter. Also, for the first year, it doubles, you’ll 2x the cashback.

Meaning essentially you can get up to 10% cash back on rotating categories per quarter. Upwards of $600 if you max it out the first year in each category.

Now, there is actually another Discover Student card called the Student Chrome. This card isn’t as good in my opinion because it only earns 2% cashback at gas stations and restaurants and it’s only $1000 in spending per quarter. I would go for the regular.

The Discover It Student Cashback card. Some other benefits and perks are: Statement credit of $20 per year for a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Min credit limit of $500 No Annual Fee No Foreign Exchange Fees 18 different designs to choose from, which really seals the deal for me, just look at how many designs there are to choose from!
