Autumn is most definitely here
They also frequent mineral springs and licks within their range. The gaur is regarded as 'vulnerable' by the IUCN. Preservation of its preferred foodstuffs is important to its long term survival. Sir, There has been a persistent myth in cricket circles for many years that Dudley Moore, sadly conscious of his small stature, once rounded up 10 cricket playing midgets to form a team which he could not only captain but tower above.
Whether this is true or not I do not know, but I do know he once hired a midget to hide beneath a pile of jerseys near the square leg umpire and say "Out!" loudly whenever there was an appeal. Unfortunately the midget enjoyed his work so much that he not only did it while Dudley's side was fielding, but carried on during their innings as well, cheap nfl jerseys and actually caused Dudley himself to be given out! I shall never forget the sight of Dudley Moore advancing furiously on a pile of jerseys from which emerged a tiny midget whom he then chased off the field with upraised bat!.

Women’s Euro 2022: Daniëlle van de Donk’s stunning winner snatches victory for the Netherlands
“I almost never score goals like [my winner],” van de Donk said according to UEFA.com. “Normally, I only score tap-ins. I know where the ball’s going, and I tap it in. For this one, I don’t know what was happening!” It had been an enthralling game in which Portugal — the second-lowest ranked side in the tournament — staged a comeback from two goals down to level the affair but was eventually…

A lot of Manchester United supporters found themselves agreeing with comments that manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made after his side’s 2-1 win against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup. The Norweigan manager praised striker Marcus Rashford after his 35-yard free-kick was struck in the manner of United’s former No. 7 Cristiano Ronaldo as his strike sailed past Blues goalkeeper Willy Caballero. A penalty from Rashford gave the Red Devils an early first half lead after a clumsy challenge on Daniel James from Marcos Alonso left the referee with no choice but to point to the spot. After missing two penalties already this season, the England international made no mistake on Wednesday as he tucked away his penalty. His set piece that sealed United’s quarter-final place in the Carabao Cup was the talking point of the affair. Speaking to MUTV (via Goal) after the game, Solskjaer said that his shot was familiar to the technique of a former Old Trafford great. “It’s very @Cristiano-like, isn’t it?” High praise for @MarcusRashford‘s stunning set-piece from Ole!#MUFC pic.twitter.com/4WpW6jf8EA — Manchester United (@ManUtd) October 30, 2019 “It was very Cristiano-like, wasn’t it? Fantastic.” He added: “I think he works too much on [those free kicks]! You know what I’ve always said is to get Marcus inside the box and scoring simple tap-ins. He always scores great goals, Marcus! He practices and today he got his reward.” Plenty of fans were echoing the words of their manager after the victory and voiced their pleasure about Rashford’s free kick on social media. Transfer Talk: Barcelona scouting Napoli duo Fabian, Koulibaly
The transfer windows in Europe’s top leagues are closed, but it’s never too late to look forward to January! Click here to view the latest transfers, and keep up to date with the newest gossip below.

Barca scout casts eye on Napoli pair
Barcelona director of football Eric Abidal was spotted in attendance at the Stadio Via del Mare to watch Napoli face Lecce in Serie A, and Spanish publication Marca believes the Frenchman was there to watch two potential transfer targets.
Reports claim the La Liga champions are keeping tabs on Napoli midfielder Fabian Ruiz, as well as his colleague Kalidou Koulibaly, as Barca prepare to make moves for targets following their worst start to a league season in 25 years.
Spaniard Ruiz — known simply as Fabian — has emerged as a serious target after impressive form for Napoli saw the 23-year-old receive a full call-up to the Spain squad for Euro 2020 qualifiers this summer. Koulibaly, meanwhile, has been on the Catalan radar for some time, and has risen up the shopping list after Ernesto Valverde’s side missed out on the signing of Ajax defender Matthijs de Ligt.

Will this pair of Napoli stars be plying their trade at Camp Nou in the future?
Juve need huge capital increase to balance books
Reports in Calciomercato claim Juventus need to make capital gains worth €300 million in order to balance the books for financial fair play — down partly to the fee and wages splashed out on Cristiano Ronaldo.
Financial reports from the club show an increase in transfer expenditure over the last four seasons has led to a huge hole in the club’s operating costs, and it is now looking more certain than ever that the Serie A champions will need to sell a number of their high profile stars to restore financial parity.
Paulo Dybala appears to be the most likely to leave Turin, with a potential sale value of around €100 million, while the likes of Blaise Matuidi, Emre Can and Miralem Pjanic have all been linked with moves over the summer, and could be nudged towards the Juve exit door to raise funds.
Inter to cash in on Gabigol
Inter Milan outcast Gabriel Barbosa is banging in the goals while on loan at Brazilian club Flamengo, and Tuttosport claims the Nerazzurri will cash in on the 23-year-old in January, with a string of European clubs interested in the forward.
The Brazilian known as Gabigol has spent the past 18 months on loan in his homeland with Santos and Flamengo, and his stunning league form at the latter has seen his market value sharply rise, and a call-up the Brazilian national team has done his sell-on value no harm at all.
It initially appeared that Flamengo would complete a permanent move for the former Benfica loanee for a fee of around €19 million at the end of this year, but his great form has forced Inter to change their stance and consider options on the continent, with clubs in Spain and England keeping tabs.
Tap Ins
– Juventus sporting director Fabio Paratici has confirmed that Qatar-based Al-Gharafa have just one week left to complete protracted negotiations to sign striker Mario Mandzukic. The Croatian is free to leave the club, having struggled for game time this season.
– Reports at Sport claim Lyon legend Juninho Pernambucano recommended midfielder Arthur to the French club before the he moved to Barcelona from Gremio in the summer of 2018. The Brazilian made the switch to the Camp Nou for a fee of around €31 million.
– The agent of Napoli forward Amato Ciciretti has been speaking to the Italian press regarding his client’s future, and has hinted that the 25-year-old may be on the move at the turn of the year. The striker spent the second half of last season on loan as Ascoli, but a permanent deal feel through late in the summer transfer window.

With Manchester City facing competition from Liverpool as they aimed to defend their Premier League title, the Citizens faced Arsenal and Chelsea, two of the top six, in February. Games against such opposition can derail a season and are often decided by moments of brilliance. Fortunately for City, they have Sergio Aguero amongst their ranks, and the Argentinian certainly enjoyed these two occasions.
The former Atletico Madrid star would come away with a hat-trick in each game, first against Arsenal, who his side beat 3-1, and then helping mauling Chelsea 6-0 just two weeks later. Across both games, Aguero showed the full extent of his goalscoring talents, with his six-goal haul including a real mixture of finishes – a penalty, a header, a long-range strike, a left-footed effort and two tap-ins.
He even made history by levelling Alan Shearer’s record of 11 Premier League trebles according to the Panini Tabloid, although the former England international’s accomplishment is slightly more impressive: it took him 223 games to reach the landmark, whilst Aguero did it 229. However, City’s number 10 is still in a select club, and he has time on his side to go in front on his own at the age of 31, especially considering his contract doesn’t expire for another two years.
Whether he does or not, he once again showed just how important he is to Pep Guardiola and his team last season. Aguero’s numbers tell the story; His 28 Premier League goal contributions (21 goals and seven assists) were only beaten by Raheem Sterling, and even then the number was only bettered by one. Yet it was the England international who received most of the plaudits and picked up several awards at the end of the campaign, including the PFA Young Player of the Year and FWA Footballer of the Year.
Somehow, Augero is often overlooked as a key element of the City juggernaut. Despite having scored at least 20 Premier League goals in six of his eight seasons in Manchester, he has been included in the PFA Team of the Year on just two occasions.
Regardless, Aguero can revel in all he has done for Manchester City, and may even add more success to a fantastic season if he can help his national side win the Copa America. He’s already a winner in Manchester – it’s about time he became one at home.

Pump it Up: How to Maximize Your B2B Content Marketing Campaign Investments
Let’s talk shoes for a moment. Years ago, I purchased a stunning pair Jimmy Choo stiletto pumps; they were all the rage at that time. I’d been eyeing them for months and I convinced myself that this rather spendy investment would pay dividends in style and wearability. When my Choos made their public debut, I was showered with compliments on how gorgeous they were. I was feeling great.
via GIPHY Of course, a few hours later a shooting pain in my Achilles tendon meant it was time to give them a rest, so I changed into tennis shoes. Today, those shoes are collecting dust in my closet. And every time I see them, I feel a mixture of regret (perhaps not my wisest investment after all) and longing to take them out for another spin (with the right insoles at a sitting event). B2B marketers are making huge investments in content this year, and that trend will only continue. From what we’re seeing across the industry, many marketers are investing in splashy content marketing campaigns. But like my Jimmy Choos, after the initial thrill and luster subsides, campaign content can start collecting dust at the back of the resource center and you may even wonder if it was worth the investment. The good news is, with the right insight and planning you can regret-proof you campaigns. Taking the time to ensure the right messaging, promotional strategy, and long-term opportunities can help you extend the life span and visibility of your campaigns and drive results that are meaningful to your team and brand. Here are five key considerations to help you do just that.
How to Maximize Your B2B Content Marketing Campaign Investment
#1 - Nail the hook.
This first step may be the trickiest, but it’s critical to build the foundation for a successful campaign. Creating a campaign hook that will inspire your target audience to engage, share, and talk about and remember your brand is both art and science. [bctt tweet="Creating a campaign hook that will inspire your target audience to engage, share, and talk about and remember your brand is both art and science. @Alexis5484 #B2BContentMarketing" username="toprank"] Let’s start with the science. In short, go with the data. Who is your ideal customer or prospect? Not just their job title and company size, but rather what problems are they trying to solve? Who do they trust? What are they interested in aside from doing their job? Where do they spend their time online? Leverage both quantitative and qualitative sources to bring this data together. Talk to your sales team or customer service reps since they are typically the most connected to your prospects and current customers. Engage in social media listening. Gather third party data. Perhaps consider creating your own data by designing and deploying a customer or industry survey. Then run the data you collect through the business lens. How do you solve your customers’ problems? What key features or benefits are deserving of more attention? What types of content (e.g. webinars, white papers, interactive infographics) can you create to garner the most attention and interest? And finally, how can you bring everything together under a creative umbrella for maximum resonance? This is where the art piece comes in. Tap into your best listeners, creative thinkers, and strategizers to finalize a theme and key messages that you believe will connect with and move your target audience. Now, this piece of advice can be key to testing the viability of your content hook both short- and long-term. Do some acid testing. Ask your network for their initial thoughts or run a few A/B tests on social media to see if your hook is resonating. You’re not just looking for thumbs up. You’re looking for messaging that is memorable, creates brand affinity, and propels the user to take action.
#2 - Make promotion part of the planning process so you’re ready for launch day and beyond.
Your team has put a lot of effort into building your campaign. But far too often, promotion is an afterthought rather than an integral part of the planning and strategy process. This ensures integration from the beginning, minimizes stress as you draw closer to launch day, and allows you to think more globally about how you can promote or repurpose into the future. [bctt tweet="Content promotion can’t be effective if it’s an afterthought. Your best practice would be to make promotion part of content planning. - @leeodden" username="toprank"] As you draw closer to launch, create a promotional timeline that includes your tactical mix and content types. Ideally, that timeline will be at least three months in length. This will help you prevent a campaign from flaming out after two weeks of heavy promotion. Your promotional timeline and plan could include:
Adding crosslinks and/or banner CTAs across your website or blog
Emails to customers and prospects
Social media messages, images, and video across major channels
A paid social targeting plan
Press releases or other third-party editorial
Repurposing plans (which we’ll get to in the next section)
Of course, when launch day arrives, the real work begins. Day 1 promotion is important to gaining campaign buzz, so plan to get all your promotion engines firing. But perhaps the most important piece of building out that promotional timeline is creating a cadence; tactics can be used beyond Day 1 or Week 1. (e.g. Just because you sent an email or press release on Day 1, doesn’t mean you can’t again on Day 7, Day 14, or Day 30.) For more insight on designing your promotional timeline, check out these 50 content promotion tactics.
#3 - Optimize … and repromote.
Since you did so much research and planning upfront, hopefully your message is resonating and you’re seeing great results one, two, three, or even four weeks out. But whether you’re meeting, exceeding, or falling short of your expectations, post-launch is the time to really maximize your investment. At launch, establish a regular check-in cadence with your team to review results and discuss campaign optimization opportunities. This is not the time to sit back and just watch the results roll in. You can start optimizing campaign performance on Day 1. There are two key areas to focus on during your check-ins:
Reach: Are you reaching your goals in terms of visibility? If not, you may need to look at additional channels (e.g. third party editorial) or adjust your paid investment (if you haven’t already). In addition, look at what channels are driving the most visibility and put more investment there.
Engagement: This is a time to review what messages, visuals, and channels are driving the most people to take action. If certain messaging isn’t working, swap it out. Take a look at the bounce rate, conversion rate, and time spent on your landing page. This is usually a prime place to make adjustments.
Optimization will help you throughout the course of the campaign to learn from what is working and make adjustments to ensure more reach and engagement (and less regret) throughout.
#4 - Repurpose … and repromote.
Every brand is sitting on a dust-collecting gold mine of content. Whether you’re launching a brand new campaign or you’re trying to resurrect (or reimagine) one from a months or years past, this consideration has unending relevance and applications. Also, if the above mentioned recommendation to create a three-month promotion production timeline felt too long, you may not have been thinking about repurposing opportunities. Here are a couple repurposing scenarios for your consideration: Repurpose to extend the life of your campaign. In this scenario you’re repurposing elements of an active campaign to drive back to your primary content hub. An easy way to repurpose content is to change up the format type. For example, pull out nuggets from a text based eBook and create a video for social media or YouTube to drive back to the original asset. If your content was audio or video, pull quotes and create a series of text based blogs driving back to the main asset. A new infographic, motion graphic, or blog content is a good reason to re-promote, remind your existing audience, and reach new prospects. Repurpose to create your next campaign. Even after the lifespan of a campaign is mostly over, that campaign investment can absolutely be leveraged for a future campaign. You can create an entirely new campaigns by bringing together previous content from other campaigns, blog posts, and influencer contributions. It can also work really well to freshen up an evergreen piece and re-release with new information. Here’s a recent example from *LinkedIn. The Sophisticated Marketer’s Guide to LinkedIn was a cornerstone campaign a few years back, and a helpful asset that had long-term appeal. And in honor of its fifth anniversary, the content and design was refreshed, re-released, and repromoted. Bonus tip: In order to be really effective at repurposing content, it really helps to have some kind of searchable repository of all the content that has been created organized by topic. Your website isn’t always the most reliable or complete source of content created. Read: A Tasty, Strategic Addition to the Content Marketing Table: ‘Repurposed Content Cobbler’
#5 - Integrate your B2B content marketing campaigns with your always-on strategy.
If you really want to maximize your B2B content marketing campaigns, you have to think long-term. Campaigns work hand-in-hand with your ongoing, always-on marketing efforts. Ultimately, your marketing efforts aim to fill the funnel, foster brand affinity, and achieve business ROI. If you design campaigns that fit within your core objectives, strategy, and marketing pillars, then they’ll always be a make-sense investment. In addition, integrating you campaigns within your always-on strategy can help you enhance your nurturing capabilities as they relate to your customers, prospects, and target audience, as well as influencers, by creating an interesting, steady drumbeat of content. It also makes repurposing easier and helps extend and keep conversations top-of-mind.
Pump Your B2B Content Marketing Campaigns Up
Flashy, attention-grabbing campaigns can be great investments. They can drive valuable spikes in traffic, engagement, or conversions, as well as help you target specific audiences or verticals. However, without an eye toward the long-term, campaigns often end up like my beautiful Jimmy Choo pumps: A wasted investment that’s collecting dust. By spending time upfront to thoughtfully identify your creative hook and robust, longer-than-a-few-weeks promotional strategy, you can continue to promote and optimize your campaign content for maximum impact and ROI. Are you notching some serious big wins on a recent campaign? How do you keep that momentum going? How do you apply your learnings to what comes next? Check out my post on driving continuous content marketing improvement. *Disclosure: LinkedIn is a TopRank Marketing client.

"Unique" - Roberto Martinez was spot on about 2014 Everton signing for all the wrong reasons
Strikers always have supporters resting in the palm of their hands. An insultingly mediocre display can be salvaged with a late salvo; notching a winning goal deep into injury-time can double a 4/10 performance with the swipe of a boot or a deft flick of the head.
The position’s enchantment lies within its distinctiveness. There is no position so fundamental to the success of a team yet so intrinsically challenging to master, but that also leaves strikers at an advantage over their teammates.
Goals are revered, celebrated and replayed more than any other action on the football field. Become a virtuoso at centre-forward and you’re almost guaranteed to enjoy perennial popularity and stardom amongst your supporters.
But, as with everything in life, there are exceptions to the rule, and as Manchester United prepare to travel to Goodison Park tomorrow afternoon there’s no escaping the feeling that Romelu Lukaku falls into that category.
Lukaku will return to the club where he fully kick-started his career and showcased his credentials to thrive at one of Europe’s top clubs, leaving Chelsea fans pondering what might have been over another lost talent.
The Belgium international remains the club’s all-time top Premier League goalscorer with 87, leaving Goodison Park favourites Tim Cahil and Duncan Ferguson in his wake. That he managed to race to this tally in the space of just four seasons is perhaps the most startling aspect of this fine individual achievement, with his goal per game ratio standing at marginally more than 1 in 2.
But yet Lukaku returns to the club this weekend as something of a divisive figure, an enigma who never quite managed to fully satisfy the supporters. That in itself is antithetical to the quintessential reputation of a renowned goal-machine.
When Roberto Martinez welcomed the precocious talisman to the club on a permanent deal in summer 2014, he spoke with a conviction that suggested Everton’s deal was a genuine coup, per BBC.
“We know that Romelu is still a young man and the potential that he has is quite unique, and we are desperate to see him enjoying his football and to watch him grow as footballer in the years to come.”
The towering centre-forward could hardly grow any more physically but technically and mentally he blossomed into a devastating striker, scoring goals of a stunning variety from poacher’s tap-ins to thumping headers, while the occasional sumptuous long-range effort was thrown into the mix.
But yet, he is not the unanimously popular figure he should be on the terraces at Goodison, and that is the most “unique” thing about Lukaku. Martinez was unquestionably alluding to the uniqueness of his centre-forward prowess for a player still firmly embedded in the formative stages of his development, but almost five years later it’s clear that he is unique for all the wrong reasons.
If you stand on the terraces at Old Trafford or walk into any of Manchester’s finest watering holes when United are playing you’re bound to hear familiar complaints when Lukaku is in possession: “He plays like he’s wearing jeans,” “he’s put on too much weight,” “get this waste of space out of my club!”
This the lexicon field which defines a player with 113 Premier League goals and 42 assists in 249 appearances. Imagine what he could do if he swapped those jeans for shorts…
And the most pertinent point to acknowledge here before Everton clash with United is that complaints from the Red Devils have often been echoed by the Toffees faithful. Unlike an overwhelming majority of prolific centre-forwards, his natural habit to consistently find the net wasn’t enough to bridge an unbreakable bond between players and fans.
On paper, Lukaku is and should be regarded as an Everton legend of the Premier League era, but memories of a rigid style and squandered opportunities bizarrely deprive him of the acclaim – amongst some fans at least – which his incredible goal scoring record merits.
Martinez was right about Lukaku for all the wrong reasons: his uniqueness lies within the paradox of his legacy at Everton.

Session Four: Troublemakers (11/03/2018, Games@PI)
In the pen of Hamish Sharpe, sailor and chronicler
PART THE FIRST
Our party rose to wakefulness on the morning of the 28th of Morningstar, the light dusting of rain failing to dampen spirits lighted by the events of the previous day. Already the patients least afflicted by the disease were beginning to leave the warehouse Master Albinon and his assistants had transformed into an emergency ward. The alchemist himself was already about, beginning to break apart the most crucial of his equipments and supplies in preparation for the days journey to Kyrune City, the situation here being quite well in hand.
It was in high spirits then which we returned to the Capital, with Mr da Vale electing to return to Master Albinon’s apothecary for a spell in order to learn a new trick or two. The rest of us returned to McManus’ Tavern to the delight of discovering that the tale of The Foolhardy Paladin had been spun into a song that was rapidly becoming a crowd favourite. It was over drinks that Ms Madinox laid the plans of her last few days bare - Some treasure, it was whispered through the grapevine of the underworld, was somehow secreted away by an underworld figure known only as the Copper King, who it turned out had been the victim of an untimely street brawl barely a year ago in these very streets.
The effects of this individual were stashed in the Feyharbour Evidence Lockup by an oblivious crew of Crown’s Guard, where they have remained ever since. Ms Madinox’s goal was their liberation, and the subsequent retrieval of the Copper King’s treasure cache. Our discussion of the matter drew the ear of a nearby halfling, who introduced herself as one “Gear”. Treasure, it seemed, held an attraction for her, and she offered her assistance in cracking open the lockup.
We set out that night for the Lockup, and it was a surprise to Ms Madinox of the most unpleasant sort to espy through the windows of the second level what looked to be four lanterns moving hither and thither, with a further two visible through the curtained windows of the first floor. All intelligence had pointed to the building being guarded by no more than two night watchmen. Furthermore, the balcony to the rear of the building showed a light past the frosted panes of the door that divided it from the room within. Upon trying the handle with a casting of Mage Hand, an irate elf captain emerged, most of our party electing to hide while I altered my form to appear a callow youth smoking tobacco and lollygagging on the street. Bearing his insults, I watched as he re-latched his door and returned to his work.
The plan was for the bulk of us to remain without, and only storm the building once Ms Madinox gave some form of signal that all plans at stealth had gone askew. With a mage hand to part the curtains and a quick cast of Misty Step, Ms Madinox was inside. It was a tense few minutes with no alarm and no word, and we watched as a guard patrol rounded the place and vanished from sight, before a gout of flame lit the first floor with a glow. Barris, Gear, and I stove in the wooden from door as an alarm began to toll from within, Valkyrie staying on the street to watch our retreat.
I would later learn that Ms Madinox had been spotted by one of the Living Wicks, wax constructs which did much of the menial filing within the place, and elected to incinerate it, alerting the occupants. Upon facing the other living wicks, an alarm bell, and an irate, firebolt-hurling captain, she elected to down a potion of gaseous form and dart to the basement, having already located her intended target.
The inner door we found a much tougher nut to open, resisting Gear’s lockpicks and being of plated steel, and thus much harder to batter down. Barris and I used our weapons to pry apart two hinges before Ms Gear produced a crowbar which handily burst the lowest hinge, collapsing the door and prompting the Captain and the night guard to loose through it a firebolt and a crossbow quarrel through the opening.
A brief battle commenced, in which we discovered the ability of the living wicks to detonate themselves in a fiery blast, but with a few well timed blasts of lightining, bullets from Barris’s pistols, and some decisive swordplay from our new halfling friend, we made short work of the remaining defenders. Ms Madinox soon re-emerged from the basement, hands full of plundered treasures but muttering darkly about a missing book, and after making sure the captain and guards were truly dead (it would not do to be arrested, unfortunately) we split and returned via separate ways to the tavern.
Both Valkyrie and Barris took the opportunity to send guard patrols in the wrong direction describing two dwarves fleeing the scene.
Reconvening in the near-empty taproom, we were examining our ill-gotten gains when we all felt a strange, unworldly tug in the pits of our bellies, and time around us seemed to stand still - the bartender frozen in the act of polishing a glass, the fan on the ceiling unmoving as if it had never turned. A half-elven man in merchant dress entered, pouring himself a drink from the tap, holding up a finger to silence our half-formed inquiries. He then sauntered to our table, sipping his ale and seeming to scan us through slightly narrowed eyes.
“You’re missing something” he said, pointedly at Ms Madinox. He knew, it seemed, that a certain book was missing from the effects of the Copper King which we had retrieved, and would trade it for a story and for covering the cost of his ale. A quick glance around the table had most of us launching into “The Foolhardy Paladin”, as Valkyrie disgruntledly sipped his coffee. Smiling and tapping his foot by the end of it, the mysterious half-elf told us to seek out “The Bookworm” in the Dominius library, where he would be reading at night by candlelight, then vanished before our very eyes.
The day after, following some hat-purchasing shenanigans, we examined the Dominius library after dark, discovering the extent of the magical alarms which covered the front gate and the lower two floors, as well as a side gate where the alarm spells seemed rent, and the lock easy enough to pick. Still, we agreed that another plan another day might be best, seeing as two break-ins on consecutive nights might draw uncomfortable heat. We chose instead to begin preparations to leave for Karenstedt the next day, chasing a necromancer Valkyrie was sent to deal with.
PART THE SECOND
Acquiring a cart, we began the four-day journey to Karenstedt, a journey generally uneventful except for the third day, as we traveled through the lesser known tracks to the village. A strange pull called me into the wood, but resisting, I was struck by a stunning migraine which would persist well throughout the next day. Yet this agony gave me a sudden clarity of vision that permitted to see through shadow and dark, and through the illusions which Ms Madinox conjured for sport.
Reaching Karenstedt, we spoke with the Speaker for the village, gnome by the name of Kevros. The road to the fortress-monstery of Kaer Ban-Arach, where this necromancer supposedly had his lair, had been long overgrown by forest. He knew nothing of a necromancer, with the only oddities in Karenstedt in recent memory being the unusual shortage of bandits (no evil thing!) and the disappearance of two children about a month back, which Kevros attributed to the typical idiocy of youth.
Kaer Ban-Arach did, however, have a stairway leading down the cliffs on which it sat to the sea below, and Kevros offered to loan us use of a skiff at an exorbitant rate of twenty! gold pieces a day, which the Paladin agreed to pay. The weather was less than ideal, but hugging the coast as we were, and without the force of a storm to batter us, it was a scant couple hours before we caught sight of the fortress and the stairway leading from it to a slight beach.
Tying up the skiff, we began to clamber up onto the stairway, the lowest ten or so feet having been washed away by wave action. As Ms Madinox and I secured a rope, we were set upon by a small horde of undead monkeys, each seemingly mimicking the movements and techniques of the long-gone monks which had used this temple. Despite the horde, a swift blast of flame by Jamborin was sufficient to immolate the bulk of them, and we continued upwards relatively unimpeded.
Breaking open the rusted iron gate at the top of the stairs, we entered what appeared to be some kind of stepped square arena with a sand floor. Three quintains sat at the far end, with two broken and disused. The one in the centre, however, looked almost new, and as we stepped forth, the spectral form of a monk began to spar with it, his red sash being the only colour in his ghostly form.
As we stepped closer, he gestured for one of us to attempt it, a tricky sequence of strikes and dodges which several of us failed. On his second attempt, after having studied the movements and design of the device, Barris stepped forward to attempt, striking and slipping just past the whirl of its wooden arms, earning the approval of the ancient ghost, and receiving its sash as token of his achievement.
Climbing out of the arena, we emerged into a wide courtyard, faced on one side with an unimpeded view of the ocean, and on the other with the main hall of the monastery. Ascertaining the presence of several undead within, Valkyrie lead us to search the outer buildings below near the gate first, returning to it only once we had ascertained that the rest of the compound was secure.
Throwing open the doors, we set upon the withered skeletons within, two on horseback, cleaving through them with spell, shot, and blade. As Ms Madinox incinerated the last, longbow-wielding undead, a figure in yellow emerged from above looking visibly pale, and turning paler at the sight of Valkyrie. Requesting parley, she introduced herself as Elaine Mallory, and lead us to her workshop. She confessed to being the necromancer we sought, but strenuously (and to our assessment, truthfully) denied having ever killed, merely being a grave robber trying to learn how to revive her husband, whom we saw entombed in ice in the laboratory, a paladin himself who had fallen in battle some years prior against an infestation of demons in Serret, a town some ways south.
A warlock of some skill, the lady did not wish to be a trouble, and (barring a few accidents in which early experiments had gotten loose) had isolated herself from civilization to work in peace. This, apparently, satisfied Valkyrie enough that he would stay his blade, though he promised that his order would send future visitors to ensure that Ms Mallory remained a peaceable member of Kyrunian... unsociety.
Grateful for the understanding we had reached, Mallory sent us on our way with gifts to speed our passage, and we departed in the skiff for Karenstedt satisfied that there was not some burgeoning evil ready to wipe out a third of Kyrune, but merely a widow looking for some hope.

Boca Juniors fan flames on move for LA Galaxy’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic
The transfer windows in Europe’s top leagues are closed, but it’s never too late to look forward to January. Click here to view the latest transfers, and keep up to date with the newest gossip below.
All the major completed transfers | European transfer review
TOP STORY: Ibra to Boca Juniors rumours persist
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has never been afraid to take on a challenge during his extraordinary career. And now Marca is reporting that his final port of call might be Argentina — with the outspoken striker potentially following the likes of Daniele De Rossi to Boca Juniors.
According to Boca board member Jorge Anro, Ibrahimovic wants to join the club, and they would be more than happy to have him. Mino Raiola, meanwhile, denied the Argentinian club had put in a bid for the player, but didn’t dismiss the prospect of his client leaving MLS to head to South America following the playoffs in the U.S. top flight.
Speaking to Mundo Boca Radio, Anro said: “It’s true that Ibrahimovic wants to play at Boca, and it’s true we’re in a position to sign him.”
So there we go. Pretty unambiguous stuff from the Boca exec. Mind you, the LA Galaxy would be loathe to let the Swedish genius leave, particularly after he scored his 29th goal of the season as the Galaxy found themselves on the wrong side of a 4-3 defeat to Vancouver at the weekend.
More proof that, even at the age of 37, the Galaxy star is still out of this world.
Pep talks up Spanish youngster Olmo
Dani Olmo has been a high-profile target for AC Milan in recent times, but comments from Pep Guardiola in the run-up to Manchester City’s Champions League clash with Dinamo Zagreb might suggest that the Premier League title holders are also keen on the 21-year-old.
The Terrassa-born winger was in stunning form in the opening round of Champions League matches, starring for Zagreb as they thumped their Serie A opponents 4-0. Guardiola knows all about him, too, having been at Barcelona when Olmo was making his way through the youth ranks at the club.
He made the somewhat surprising switch to Zagreb in 2014, and since making his bow in the Croatian top flight in 2015 has emerged as one of Europe’s most sought-after youngsters.
And Guardiola is clearly a fan. Quoted in Calciomercato, Guardiola said: “He was in the youth of Barcelona and normally who plays there is a good player. He had the courage to move to Croatia and it was a good choice. He was one of the best players of the European under-21s with an incredible work ethic.”
Sancho stay at Dortmund might still be brief
The speculation surrounding the long-term future of Jadon Sancho refuses to go away, and now Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc has further fanned the flames in an interview with Germany’s Kicker magazine.
– When does the transfer window reopen? – All major completed transfer deals
Zorc was asked about how long football lovers in the Bundesliga could look forward to seeing Sancho run out in the fabled yellow shirt. The answer? “No decision has been made. But you don’t have to be a prophet to know he won’t play here for another five years.”
That should make ears prick up in the Premier League, particularly at Manchester United, who have been consistently linked with a move for the player over the past 18 months.
Tap-ins
– Barcelona want AC Milan striker Krzysztof Piatek as a potential long-term replacement for Luis Suarez. Calciomercato reports that the move for the youngster could come as early as January, after the Uruguayan has failed to find his form in the early part of the current campaign.
– Speaking of Barcelona and the aforementioned Olmo, the Catalans are keen to re-sign their academy project, along with two other top targets, as they are already beginning to look ahead to the 2020 summer window and next season.

Predicted England line-up to face Colombia in the World Cup round of 16
There is an air of positivity around this England squad, who impressed in their opening two games against Tunisia and Panama. Harry Kane has been in stunning form so far, scoring 5 goals in the opening two games, which includes a hat-trick against Panama.
Southgate’s men look determined to end their World Cup slump this time around, with a number of players at the peak of their career.
England fielded a second-string side against Belgium in their final group game, which saw Adnan Januzaj score the winner. But it is clear England possess the quality to go on and win the game. Great things are expected of this England squad this time.
Team News
The Three Lions have no real injury concerns and Southgate has a full squad of players to pick from. The manager made 8 changes against Belgium, which saw a number of players dropped to the bench. Most of them should return against Colombia in what could be a defining game for England.
England Probable XI
Manager: Gareth Southgate
Formation: 3-1-4-2
Jordan Pickford (GK)
Pickford has started all three games for England so far and he has been in impressive form. The youngster also enjoyed an impressive season with new club Everton and should retain his place against Colombia.
John Stones
Harry Maguire (LCB)
Maguire enjoyed a superb campaign with Leicester this season. He is England’s best centre-back and Gareth Southgate should start him against Colombia. Maguire’s presence was sorely missed against Belgium.
John Stones (CB)
The Manchester City defender scored 2 splendid goals against Panama and was their best defender on the night. The former Everton defender has shown what he is capable of in the opening two games and should be back for the clash against Colombia.
Kyle Walker (RCB)
Walker has been in fine form all year long, for both club and country. His pace and energy bring a lot more to the England defence. Not a lot of players can win a foot race against Walker, which is exactly why Southgate should start him against the South Americans.
Jordan Henderson (CDM)
Henderson’s passing range is what makes him such an important player in this squad. Since the days of Paul Scholes and Steven Gerrard, England haven’t had a pure passer of the ball other than Henderson. He has been in excellent form so far and should be back for this game.
Jesse Lingard
Ashley Young (LM)
Young has shifted from an attacking role to a wingback position over the last two years and he has excelled at it. The former Aston Villa man was impressive for Manchester United throughout the season and his pace down the left-hand side will certainly trouble the Colombians
Jesse Lingard (CM)
Lingard upped his game this season for Manchester United as the midfielder was a crucial part of Jose Mourinho’s squad. He also scored a splendid goal against Panama. Lingard’s ability on the ball will certainly drag defenders out of position and that’s something which Southgate should consider.
Delle Alli (CM)
Alli hasn’t played for England since the opening day due to injury concerns but the midfielder brings a lot to the team in terms of attacking. Southgate should reinstate him back into the squad instead of Loftus-Cheek.
Harry Kane
Kieran Trippier (RM)
Tripper has been brilliant for Tottenham and England so far. His crosses into the box are unrivalled, and the defender shares a good partnership with Harry Kane.
Harry Kane (LF)
Given the captaincy role for England this World Cup, Harry Kane has flourished so far. The Spurs striker is on top of the goalscoring charts, netting a total of 5 in 2 games. That’s the Kane we all know and that’s the Kane Southgate should start against Colombia.
Read more: Go for it Poch – This 21-goal Ligue 1 star could be the perfect backup for Harry Kane at Tottenham
Raheem Sterling (RF)
Though guilty of missing one or two tap-ins, Sterling’s pace and ability to dribble threatens a lot of defenders. He’s also brilliant at winning penalties and set-pieces in crucial areas.

Arsenal ripped after what Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang said when asked if it’s Gunners’ year | Football | Sport
Arsenal star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang prompted a cheeky response when he opened up on his hopes for the Gunners’ season.
Aubameyang was in Monza over the weekend to support Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton at the Italian Grand Prix.
While taking a walk down the pit lane just before the race began, he was asked on Sky Sports’ F1 coverage if it’s Arsenal’s year for success.
The Gabon international responded, “Yeah, hopefully.” before giggling and flashing a grin towards presenter Rachel Brookes.
Sky Sports presenter Simon Lazenby then took the opportunity to take a cheeky swipe at Arsenal as he walked down the grid, quipping: “But probably not.”
A clip of the comical moment was shared on Twitter as Arsenal fans tuned in and saw their talisman switching sports during the international break.
Hamilton, who Aubameyang was pictured with in Monza, ended up finishing third at the Italian Grand Prix.
He does, though, remain on course to win a sixth World Drivers’ Championship having enjoyed a stunning first half of the season.
Aubameyang, meanwhile, will be looking to make his mark when Arsenal return to action after the international break.
Next up for Unai Emery’s side, who currently sit fifth in the Premier League, is a trip to Watford on Sunday.
Arsenal legend Paul Merson reckons Emery needs to deploy Mesut Ozil to get the best out of the all-star front three of Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette and Nicolas Pepe.
“Arsenal’s front three are as good as any in the Premier League, on a par with Manchester City and Liverpool without a doubt, but great attackers rely on service,” Merson said.
“It doesn’t matter how good you are, if you’re not getting the ball you’re not going to score. It’s a simple as that.
“A large portion of Raheem Sterling’s goals are close-range tap-ins because of Manchester City’s ability and vision to find him in good positions.
“You can’t imagine that happening at Arsenal, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette and Nicolas Pepe have to do everything themselves.
“With a lack of service Arsenal are reliant on their strikers scoring brilliant goals week in, week out, but that’s not going to happen all the time. That’s going to be the problem.
“Unai Emery has missed a trick with a midfield player. The only solution I see would be to play the front three with Mesut Ozil in the hole behind them and have two holding in front of the back four.
“The four attackers can get on with scoring goals and then the rest can try and keep them out at the other end.”
