These channels are being used for Bass, lead vocals and guitars. Then the right side of the console has 16 more channels for Keys, Percussion, backing vocals and effects returns. 32 premium channels. SSL Matrix Console & Signal Flow (WEEK 3)

Monday the 19th, we are introduced to the main console at the university studios.

The console the university mainly use’s is an SSL Matrix 2 (See Below)

The pro’s of SSL Matrix is :

Full SSL-standard DAW control functionality.

Brilliantly flexible external device-routing matrix.

Comprehensive aux and cue facilities — with SuperCue.

Well-equipped monitoring section.

Fanless power supply for zero noise.

SuperAnalogue circuitry gives transparent sound quality.

and the cons of this is :

Restricted to stereo applications — no surround facilities.

No stereo channel-linking facilities.

It may be the most affordable SSL console, but it's still expensive!

An SSL console now comes in an ACTION FIGURE configuration! Actually looks pretty cool... the SSL SIX has just been announced and will be a fine little desktop mixing tool. It has two SuperAnalogue mic pres, channel compression, 2-band channel EQ, and bus compression too. Sweet!
