I was putting my finishing touches on this shrine to JNT, to commemorate his brilliance in setting up a Dalek-Cyberman bitch-off in this most iconic of Fifth Doctor stories. There's a reason it's the only time the third episode of a Doctor Who story ever got its own Radio Times cover; featuring Peter Davison's exploding dick, no less!* Tune into Time Ram to discover why the Daleks so admire the gardens in the Traken Union, what the ultimate fate of Peri's British cousin was, and how Varsh came to headline a prog rock group. Peter Davison (Doctor 5) regenerated into Colin Baker (Doctor 6) in the Doctor Who episode The Caves of Androzani part 4, which aired on March 16, 1994. Davison's Doctor sacrificed his life to save the life of his new companion Peri (Nicola Bryant). It was the first time the Doctor regenerated into the appearance of someone he met before (Colin Baker had previously played Maxil in the serial Arc of Infinity), however it was shown that Time Lords could do this as Romana (Mary Tamm) regenerated to the form of Princess Astra (Lalla Ward). This wouldn't happen again until Matt Smith (Doctor 11) regenerated to look like Caecilius (Peter Capaldi). It was decided to record new footage of the Doctor's companions and the Master instead of using stock footage, which took some work as some of them were no longer under contract. Colin Baker became the first Doctor to speak post regeneration with dialogue written by Eric Saward. Colin Baker's face appeared in the star field in the closing credits and he was given top billing. This was the first time since the first regeneration, which was the second serial of season 4, where the regeneration didn't happen in the last serial of the season. In this case, it was in the penultimate serial, giving Colin Baker one serial of his own before the next season began. ("Caves of Androzoni Part 4" Doctor Who, TV Event)

Black Orchid 1982

I'm extremely fond of this one. It's one of my favorites. Just a fun little two part murder mystery type episode. Getting to see everyone in fancy dress and Peter Davison play a nice round of cricket is very fun.
