I really think Carla Sunday should've been the one who realized something was wrong in Wish World.

Because when it was revealed that Ruby was kicked out of Carla's house for having doubt, I was actively wondering "why would Ruby still be with her adoptive single mom if Conrad's perfect world is 1950s nuclear family esque? Wouldn't it make more sense if she was just with her bio mom and dad?". Logically, I think it would've made sense if Carla had doubts because she subconsciously knew Ruby was missing from her life.

And honestly I think it would've been more compelling. This is the third time we've seen Ruby be essentially abandoned by Carla (which is a bit problematic as other people have pointed out) and by this point it's gotten stale. We've already seen the emotions behind a child losing their parent. But a parent losing their child? That's something new.

Plus, it would've given Carla more time to shine and be an actual character.

But who am I kidding, God forbid we make a blonde white woman not the oh so special focal point of the story am I right RTD?

Ruby should've said, "I wish you go to hell," to Conrad and he should've ended up where Rogue is, and Rogue should've been allowed to beat him to death with hammers.

One thing I did just realise and now appreciate regarding Fifteen's sacrificial regeneration is how it brings us full circle.

Obviously, the connection to The Church on Ruby Road is pointed out explicitly in-universe, with the Doctor fixing the timeline to bring Ruby back. But remember, he also did the same thing just one episode later in his first regular story, even using regeneration energy!

And of course, one could argue even this comes with its own timeline-rewriting moral baggage, given the Doctor justifiably saving Ruby and humanity from erasure still arguably comes with the erasure of Rubathon Blue and her timeline.

In retrospect, despite being a simple expositional gag, this really does just show how Fifteen's life was leading to something like this (even if the details may have changed with behind-the-scenes stuff), just like Twelve and Davros's conversation in The Witch's Familiar ("Compassion then. It will kill you in the end.").

Everything done with Yaz in those last three specials is a muddled mess that even the popular headcanons can't make sense of, and yet it all could've been fixed by just having her say "If she can't love me back, I'm out". That's it. That's all she needed to say. Simple fix the writer completely missed because Chibnall was clearly allergic to giving Yaz any kind of motivation or internal thought process.

Honestly, all the companion exits since Bill have been bad for a variety of reasons. Chibnall just didn't seem to put any effort into them at all while both of RTD's were obvious last minute rush jobs where he made every single bad choice he could think of.

You know what wouldve been a great way to do Wish World/Reality War?

The doctor still wakes up in his completely hetero lifestyle (ew) with his daughter poppy. Except his wife is Ruby Sunday. Belinda is the one who has gone feral and is hanging in the street with Shirley - bonus points if why she's in the street is because shes GNC in some way (never been a fan of miss) and basically attacks the doctor when she breaks down the door bc "she was right to not trust him all the way"

Belinda gets to keep her agency, and a story about wanting to keep the strange wish baby works so much better with Ruby since she's also a foundling. I.e. "I don't care that she's not real, she's real to me"

Ok so I’ve had a cool idea, what’s Lux turned The Doctor, Belinda, and Ruby into cartoon characters, not like the ones from the episode, but like him, anthropomorphic animals

Like The Doctor wouldn’t have these dog like ears but wouldn’t specify as any creature he’s just his own little thing

Belinda would be a bee, she’d have antennas and wings and she’d absolutely hate being in that form

Ruby would be a rabbit and she’d be cool with it, she’d like her ears and thinks their cute

Lux is just enjoying their reactions, he likes seeing Belinda spiral and having a crisis

People saying season 2 was written with Ruby in mind and she was supposed to be in Belinda's place are making a lot of sense, but I'm glad it didn't happen that way. I can't see Ruby and the Doctor in a romantic context, that's his child, you guys.
