Oliver was nervous. More than nervous. There was a hollowness in his gut that threatened to choke him. He’d gone his entire life without knowing a single thing about his mother. He didn’t even know her name. She hadn’t wanted him and so, Oliver didn’t want her, in any form or shape. But when his 31st birthday had rolled around, Oliver had realized that not knowing about his mother meant not knowing half of himself and that wasn’t something he was prepared to deal with. So, he’d done the one thing he could think of: bought one of those DNA testing kits. Which had brought him -- seated at a table at Baked Comfort, picking at a double chocolate muffin, and waiting to meet his half sister.
