the song 'Vampires will never hurt you' by MCR reminds me heavily of the lost episode chapter of cryptid sightings! ^^

( fun fact! before the lost episode came out, I associated the song with the 2 vampires in the vampire chapters but now I find it more fitting for lost chapter y/n! )

Oh, wow, this fits vampire!Y/N so well! The lyrics especially resonate with the very beginning of Y/N's new undead existence, especially the talk of taking the spike and putting it in their heart. you really hadn’t thought this through.

despite avoiding everyone all day, you couldn’t help yourself when you remembered the secret party in the woods.

older campers sneaking out into the woods, drinking and dancing, acting like normal teenagers. to forget that you weren’t a regular human in high school.

somehow, after a blur of a night, you found yourself stumbling down the trail, giggling to yourself when you tripped over some roots in the ground, you were dizzy and in the back of your head you knew how much you’d regret it in the morning, but at the moment, you finally felt carefree.

that was until, a root that had been tripped over so many times it now stuck out of the ground very prominently approached, your foot hooked under it as you went tumbling forward.

you braced for the impact of dirt across your face, eyes squeezed shut as your nose scrunched, but it never came, it felt as if you were floating in the middle of the trail.

that was the alcohol that made you feel that, not noticing the two hands holding up your shoulder, beginning to help you stand up straight.

“huh- oh my gods! luke castellan!” you giggled at the sight of him, he was obviously sober, how unfun.

“hey.” he breathed, the corners of his mouth twitching up, “you’re very drunk.”

“nuh uh.” you denied, shaking your head viciously making you dizzy and stumble backwards but he caught you immediately.

“uh yeah, you are.” he stated, his hand hovered over your back to help guide you down the trail, “let’s get you back to your cabin.”

your arm swung over his shoulder, suddenly having to catch your weight as you leaned into him, his hand snaked around your waist to help you walk.

he focused on guiding your uncoordinated feet down the very trippable path, not noticing the way your eyes were kept on him the entire time, a quiet giggle escaped you every so often but he didn’t question what the alcohol might have you thinking.

he was so focused on ignoring his sweaty palms at your sudden proximity and on making sure you didn’t trip, he almost missed the feeling of your hand sliding up the back of his head and disappearing into his curls.

he almost missed it.

“what are you doing?” he said but it came out more of a shaky whisper.

he didn’t know why he was so suddenly nervous around the girl he barely knew, to anyone else it might have been obvious though.

“your hair- it’s so soft.” you giggled as you got interrupted by a hiccup, causing more uncontrollable laughter, but your hand never left his hair.

finally you reached the cabins, now with you giggling and luke bright red with very messy hair. he walked you up to apollo cabin, “get some sleep.” he said your name softly, a lopsided grin on his face.

“goodnight luke castellan!” you bellowed, he winced, it was a little too loud to be talking while past curfew surrounded by cabins of sleeping campers, but it also just made his smile widen as you stumbled inside.

acting like this for a girl he barely knew? it was over for him.

the sound of the creaking of the cabin from the wind was interrupted by a knock on the door, and the sounds of your footsteps as you led yourself to answer it.

it was almost as if medusa was on the other side of the door, the way your whole body tensed and froze at the sight of luke castellan, not clarisse like you had expected.

“uh, hi.” he spoke, he sounded almost out of breath and he looked a little disheveled. like either the wind had messed it up or he had run here, “clarisse didn’t feel like coming i guess, not in a mean way!” he clarified quickly, “just in a… lazy way, don’t tell her i said that.” he explained, grinning at you.

“meaning…?” you spoke cautiously, as if afraid of the boy infront of you.

“oh— meaning i brought you dinner, since you weren’t feeling well. she asked me to.” he explained quickly, handing you a cardboard box, that was an uncanny resemblance to a restaurant to-go box.

“oh… thank, thank you.” you said slowly, taking the box. you narrowed your eyes while inspecting his face, expecting something more, your attention is quickly brought to the cut on his arm you had tended to days prior, “how’s the arm?” you asked, your work mode turning on at the sight of an injury.

his face lit up, “a lot better actually! thank you!” the pitch of his voice raised in excitement that you were really making conversation with him, your brows furrowed to adjust to the sudden volume.

“that’s good.” you said flatly, clearing your throat, “thank you for the food.” before closing the door in his face.

he stood still for a minute, listening as you shuffled around your cabin and opening the box before he clicked back with reality, turning and walking off with a smile on his face.

“everyone is looking for you, y’know?” a husky voice spoke from behind you, causing you to whirl around in fear, but it was only luke.

“oh.” you say, trying to cover up the fear that ran through you at the random voice interrupting your silence from behind you, “i didn’t mean to be gone for so long, my bad.”

his tongue clicks against the roof of his mouth as he approaches you, sitting next to you on the hidden dock far away from camp, “s’okay, i told everyone i found you.” he said, handing you his phone to show silena and clarisse’s panicked tweets.

“thank you.” you sighed, handing his phone back to him as he frowned.

“so what’s wrong?”

“i barely know you.” you state, trying to ignore his requests for you to open up

“so?” you give him a look he can’t quite read, somewhere between a ‘are you serious?’ and ‘fuck off.’

“why do you care exactly?” you snapped a bit more aggressively than intended, causing his frown to grow more exaggerated.

“because i want to get to know you.”

“to get in my pants?”

“no! jesus!” he exclaims, causing you to burst into a fit of laughter as he gives you a bewildered look.

“sorry.” you attempt to get out, catching your breath from laughing, “i’m fine, just hiding away from embarrassment.”

“embarrassment from what?”

“you’re joking right?”

he suddenly makes an o shape with his mouth, “oh, oh.” he looks out into the water, a sudden blush dusting his cheeks, “right… i forgot about that tweet.”

“yeah…” you breathe, squeezing your eyes shut, “sorry about that, i- i was really drunk.”

“don’t apologize, it boosted my ego.” he shrugs jokingly, giving you a smirk

“wow really not helping your case are you?” you scoffed.

he laughs in response but it quickly falls silent between you two, for awhile it seems awkward until he clears his throat, a much more serious tone than before, “listen… this might sound insane, because i barely know you but, i really think i might be…” he trails off as he stares at the water, your expression softens as you wait for him to finish, “i think i like you, which is weird to me. i’m sorry if it makes you uncomfortable, but i would like to get to know you.” he finally admits, sighing with relief

you stare at your crisscrossed legs, contemplating his confession, “i can’t say i completely feel the same.” you confess, his brows flinch into a wince almost expression, “but i can tell you aren’t as bad as i thought you were, and i would like to try and get to know you too.” you respond quietly, trying to avoid his gaze, but his eyes are easy to get lost in, making it impossible to not look at him.

“really?”

“yeah.” you breathe, like weight had been lifted off your shoulders, “could we maybe, keep it to ourselves?” you suggest

“oh sure.” he responds plainly.

“i’m not ashamed.” you ramble out quickly, “it’s just, i don’t want clarisse, chris or silena getting… inbetween us about this.”

his whole expression lights up as his posture straightens, “okay. i can do that.”

“okay.”

“okay.”

“i’m resisting the urge to say okay again.” you laughed, causing him to mirror your smile.

“okay.”
