Oh please forgive me but I'm going to rant a bit because of your sweet words😭 Haven Cloud is pretty much an experiment, bc I know a LOT of my audiences expect romance but I also know sometimes we all have friends and people around us that we want to appreciate and make our days better and Seventeen is exactly that for me.
Mainly that's why I wanted to celebrate my 2k with Haven Cloud instead of opening my request box again. Tbh opening my req box gets quite overwhelming bc the ppl that requested sometimes don't even come back to tell me about the piece that they asked for?? So I decided to write this instead and I am so happy that you consider this perfect after a tough working day bc that's what this series is supposed to do; comfort ppl through daily happenings.
Am sorry I ended up ranting here but I just wanted to thank you so much for that comment 🥺🤍

✾ welcome to Haven Cloud ✾ If you remember me announcing an event to celebrate my 2k milestone, you've come to the right place for celebration💌
You'd never imagined you'd end up working in a cafe, but you've found more than you're looking for and there's really nowhere you'd rather be. It's hard to tell what's your favorite part about working here; is it Jeonghan's jokes that always bring a smile to your face? Or the way Chan would bring in pizza or chicken when you close up late because it's been a bad day?
But, most of all, you think it's the way you get to appreciates lives happening around you; getting the VIP seat to watch the coffee shop romance you always find in fictions or being able to cheer up someone's day just by giving them an extra cookie when you notice they're a little too quiet.
It's not easy to explain each one of them, but perhaps it's worth a try. After all, it's always a little magical in Haven Cloud.
Or, alternatively, you work in Haven Cloud and you get to experience happenings in the cafe alongside Seventeen

you were beautiful | plan A (36/50)
ミ★ synopsis: a modernized cinderella au, in which you and joshua meet through your love for boba popsicles.

“Let’s go sit over there.” Eunha suggests, pointing over towards the booths. You nod your head, walking over by yourself as Eunha tells Soo-ah what to order. Scooting into the booth, you let out a small sigh, running a hand through your hair as you wait for Eunha to come.
“Got it?” Soo-ah nods, waving her twin off. Eunha walks over in your direction, glancing out the window to see Seungcheol and Wonwoo sitting at the boba place across the street with their headphones in. They give her a thumbs up, signalling that they can hear everything and she nods her head.
“Come on yn, give me a smile hm? I won’t let Soo-ah be a bitch.” Eunha says as she sits beside you. She lets her finger trail under the table until she feels the microphone, letting out a small grin knowing they’ll have Soo-ah on tape if the plan fails.
which it won’t, Eunha reminds herself.
You look at your best friend, giving her a tight-lipped smile and she rolls her eyes at you. She places her hands on your cheeks and squishes your face until you let out a small giggle and slap her hands away. “There it is, your signature pretty smile.”
“Ew, you guys are so cheesy it makes me wanna vomit.” Soo-ah mutters as she hands you your mocha. She places Eunha’s cappuccino in front of her before sitting down on the opposite side of the booth.
“Let’s take a picture so that I can post it.” Soo-ah says boredly, holding out her phone and smiling at the camera. You wink while Eunha blows a kiss as her pose. Soo-ah takes a couple photos before placing her phone back down on the table.
The three of you sit in a tense silence as you tentatively take small sips from your mug to pass time. Soo-ah stares at the table while Eunha just looks between the two of you in an attempt to try and figure out how to bring up the topic. When Eunha’s about to open up her mouth to start a conversation, Soo-ah glances up at you with a harsh glare.
“Yn.” You look over at the twin with wide eyes, a small whipped cream stache on your upper lip from taking sips of your mocha. Soo-ah rolls her eyes, handing you a napkin and motioning to wipe your lips. You pat your mouth clean before she continues.
“Have you been speaking to Joshua?” She asks, holding her head high. Eunha slyly takes out her phone and messages the gc that the conversation is starting.
“No, I haven’t responded to him like you told me to.” You mutter softly, biting the inside of your cheek at the reminder of your guilt. Soo-ah smirks, holding out her hand to you. Raising an eyebrow at her, she rolls her eyes, “Give me your phone so that I can see if you’re telling the truth.”
“Soo-ah, isn’t that too much?” Eunha butts in, but Soo-ah shoots her a glare. You let out a small sigh, reaching into your pocket but Eunha stops you.
“Are you serious Soo-ah? You already took Joshua away from her.” Eunha says, glancing over towards the door at the sound of the chime. She sees Minghao, Joshua, and Vernon walk in. Minghao immediately looks over at Eunha, and he gives her a nod.
“Why don’t Joshua and I go and sit down while you order for us Vernon?”
“But why do I have to-” Vernon begins, but immediately complies when he sees the glare Minghao is shooting his way. Joshua chuckles at the two, following Minghao towards the booths when he catches sight of you.
“Wait it’s yn.” Joshua says, breaking away from Minghao before he can stop him.
“Took Joshua away from her? Ha! It was our plan all along to have him and I end up together. You’re acting as if you didn’t play as big of a role in it as I did, my dear twin.” Soo-ah seethes, and Eunha glares at her. You stare at the table, blinking back your tears as the two begin to argue.
“It would’ve worked a whole lot sooner if yn didn’t decide to be fucking cinderella and take him away from me that night.” Soo-ah finishes, leaning back in her seat and taking a sip of her americano. Eunha’s eyes widen when she sees Joshua walking over, having not expected her sister to drop the topic so quickly.
“Well maybe if you weren’t-”
“Yn.” You look up with wide eyes at the call of your name, and your mouth drops open when you find Joshua staring at you with a hurt expression on his face.
“J-”
“Joshua! Hi!” Soo-ah squeals, getting up from the booth to give him a hug. You look away, choosing to look busy with drinking your mocha instead. Eunha looks at Minghao in defeat, and he has a sad look on his face as Soo-ah and Joshua begin to converse.
“I’m gonna go.” You mutter, grabbing your phone and leaving the booth.
“Wait yn-” Eunha says, reaching out for your hand and you fling it away. Joshua watches with wide eyes as you exit the shop, quickly excusing himself from his conversation with Soo-ah to run after you. Minghao looks at Soo-ah and Eunha, staring flabbergasted as Joshua disappears out of sight.
“What the fuck.” Soo-ah says under her breath, but Minghao catches it, biting his lip to prevent himself from freaking out on her.
“I have the drinks… where did Joshua go?” Vernon asks as he steps up to the three, before he looks over and sees the sad expression on Eunha’s face.
“Oh.”
You wipe the tears falling from your eyes with the back of your hand, cursing to yourself at the fact that you even agreed to leave the house today. You squeeze your phone tighter in your hand when someone grabs your wrist and spins you around.
“Let me go!” You shout, pausing when you look up to see Joshua staring down at you, holding you softly. A look of concern comes onto his face when he notices your wet cheeks and runny nose. “Were you crying?” You shake your head no, pulling your hand away from his grip. His arm falls loosely to his side, and you two just stare at each other in silence for a moment.
“I have to go.” You mutter, before turning around and beginning to walk in the opposite direction.
“Why won’t you talk to me?” Joshua asks and you stop, vision blurring from the tears forming in your eyes.
“Did I do something? Did I say something?” You shake your head no, turning your head to look at him. He’s staring at you with a helpless expression on his face, just wanting to know what he did wrong.
“Then what is it? Is it Soo-”
“No! It’s not because of Soo-ah.” You interrupt, coughing into your elbow to try and hide the stray tears that escaped your eyes.
“Then what is it? How can I fix it?” Joshua asks, walking up to you and placing both hands on your shoulders so that you’re looking up at him. Moving to look down at the ground, he removes his hand to place it under your chin, making you stare back into his cat-like eyes.
“I miss you, yn. Let me fix us. Please.” He practically begs, and you bite the inside of your cheek. Your mind goes to the threat Soo-ah made, and it helps you muster up the courage to say,
“I don’t miss you.”
Joshua looks taken aback for a moment, staring at you with a hurt expression on his face, “What?”
“I don’t want to be friends anymore. That’s it. That’s all there is to it... so please. Just leave me alone.” You tell him, before turning around and walking away so that you can’t see his expression crumble. Joshua watches you until you turn the corner, now out of sight. He runs a hand through his hair, feeling so fucking lost and hurt. He looks up at the sky when tears threaten to escape, seeing a cloud in the shape of a flower.
“Fuck.”

AHh IKRRR tbh I'm so proud of that line bc i know for sure that's not OOC of him😭🤍 thank you for reading haven cloud!!
something fluffy / yoon jeonghan
➝ Reader x Jeonghan (?)
➝ coffee shop!au // slice of life // fluff // nonidol!au // OC has a platonic (?) crush on han but who doesnt
➝ word count: 2.4k
➝ haven cloud masterlist (can be read as standalone)
➝ What’s playing in Haven Cloud
➝ A/N: i have no idea why this is going slower than i expected and i cant help but feel sorry ;-; hopefully i'll be able to finish this before the year ends? or is that too low of a goal anyway i hope you enjoyed this and pls dont forget to drop by and tell me your thoughts <3
When you had only started working in Haven Cloud, you’re not sure what to make of Jeonghan.
The guy is way too beautiful not to be a celebrity, and when he greeted you with a wink and a playful smile, you didn’t even dare to think he was flirting with you because there’s no way someone like him would have that kind of motives towards old plain you.
Still, it was a little hard figuring out what to make of him, and it’s only after three months that you finally understood that Jeonghan is just naturally friendly towards everyone that he’s sometimes borderline flirty with or without meaning to. One thing for sure though: it’s clear that Jeonghan never has any ill intentions, and contrary to how he looks, Jeonghan is quite easily persuaded if you just whine a little and pull your pitiful face.
In short, Yoon Jeonghan is just a big softie for those around him despite the cool, flirty image he’s holding up as Haven Cloud’s one and only handsome pastry chef. And it’s not helping the, uh, admiration you have for him. It’s a crush at most, one that you used to have towards a senior in high school; that you know wouldn’t grow into anything else and is barely even romantic.
You suppose Jeonghan is much too easy on the eyes, and as much as you have nothing romantic towards him, sometimes you still get flustered when he stares at you a little too long, or when he mindlessly pokes your cheek just to annoy you.
“Say aah,” his airy voice suddenly says, a piece of tiny choux almost forcibly shoved into your lips that you have no choice but follow as he says. “How is it?”
You hum as you appreciate the sudden sweet exploding in your mouth. Jeonghan has been doing this a lot these days, making all of you try his latest creation because he’s been experimenting with new ingredients and new techniques for a future event Chan has briefed you all a few weeks ago.
“Mmm. Definitely not your best work, but it’s better than the last choux you made.” You scrunch your nose and look at Jeonghan apologetically. He puffs air into his cheeks, a little upset but grateful nevertheless for your honesty. “It tastes good. But the dough is a little too heavy for some reason. What fillings do you have so far?”
“Chocolate, vanilla, and chocolate rum.”
“Chocolate rum?” You look at him in betrayal. Vanilla is literally your least favorite flavour out of the three but that’s what he’s been feeding you these whole time? “I want to try chocolate rum!”
Jeonghan looks conflicted for a second, but it’s Seungkwan’s annoying voice that answers you.
“Too bad he’s already perfected the chocolate rum,” he grins, popping a small choux into his mouth.
“You made Seungkwan try the chocolate rum?” You whine, pouting at the older guy like a child as Seungkwan teases you some more before making his way back to the hall.
“To be fair, I’m currently trying out the doughs, not the fillings. I’d be wasting too much ingredients if I made chocolate rum fillings for all of my trials.” He smiles at you sheepishly, though you don’t relent until he promises he’ll make another batch next week.
“Next week? It’s Friday and I’m craving them now because of you.”
Truthfully, Jeonghan can simply ignore you and be done with it. He knows you well enough to know you’re not actually angry at him, that you’re just playing annoying and you definitely don’t mind waiting until next week. But, like you’ve said earlier, Jeonghan is a big softie and sometimes he’s unsure how to say no to everyone in the cafe because the big brother in him strives to both make all of you suffer and cater to all of your needs.
“Actually, I’m going to the cafe tomorrow to make them so you can drop by if you want?”
“We’re off tomorrow, though? Didn’t Chan say he has somewhere to be and decided to just close the cafe for the weekend?”
“Yep. I asked if I could borrow the kitchen for practice and he said okay.” Jeonghan shrugs, then reminds you rush hour is coming in a bit and you should probably leave the kitchen before Chan yells at you again. “So. Come by if you don’t have anything to do? Or you can always eat them on Monday, I suppose.”
You eye the tray of choux next to Jeonghan, and you swear you can taste the chocolate rum in your mouth if you stare at them long enough.
Guess you’re going to the cafe tomorrow.
“How do you perfect the shape, exactly?” Soonyoung looks at the dough curiously as Jeonghan works on them.
“I’m just talented that way,” the older guy shrugs with nonchalance, a lazy grin on his face and it blooms into a laugh when you threaten to pour more water into his dough so he couldn’t shape them. “Why are you here again?”
“Didn’t have anything to do and Cherrie said she’s coming to the cafe to be a ‘choux tester’ so I decided I want to become one too.”
You barely listen as the two guys continue to talk, opening the small fridge you guys use to store your food right next to the big fridge for the cafe’s necessity. It’s almost lunch now, and you skipped breakfast because you couldn’t be bothered to make anything, which means you’re hungrier than you usually are at these hours but you’re not hungry enough to eat an actual meal right now.
“Han, can I eat these?” you ask as you show him a slice of crepe cake. “Is this yours?”
“Yeah, sure. I bought it then forgot to eat it.”
He chuckles when you squeal a little and do your usual tiny dance when you get to eat desserts. Most of the time, he’s sure you’re working in Haven Cloud for the discounted dessert and all the dishes he makes you try.
He’s not complaining though, one of the reasons why he became a pastry chef in the first place is because of how happy his sister was when he asked her to taste his first perfect baking and how her eyes twinkled in delight once the spoon went inside her mouth. So to see you, or anyone, really, being delighted over desserts is something that always swells his heart.
“Han, say ‘aah’.” Jeonghan jumps when your face pops right in front of his, a small spoon shoved into his lips. He hums once he tastes the layers of cake, his mind already separating the ingredients within. “Where did you even buy this? It tastes better than the usual crepe cake we buy.”
“My sister’s friend has just opened a new bakery and their signature dish is this cake.” He nods in approval as he swallows. He’s always liked crepe cake, but they’re too much of a bother to make that he never bothers trying. If there’s one pastry he wouldn’t make, it’s this one; they’re too much work and having to put them layer by layer will never end for someone who strives for perfection like Yoon Jeonghan. “It does taste much better than I expected. Give me another bite.”
You snicker before you feed him another then take a bite yourself, and it’s Soonyoung who snickers next, looking at you both with a shake of his head.
“Do you realize you guys act like a married couple sometimes?” He huffs, then walks towards you to also take a bite. He’s oblivious of the flustered look the both of you have, too busy appreciating the taste to notice you’ve gone quiet out of nowhere. “Anyway, should we order lunch?”
Jeonghan snaps out of it first, only a little taken aback because he’s never really had anyone say anything of that kind to him. Despite what he’s heard people say about him, Jeonghan actually has very little experience in romance and is very shy when it comes to it.
“Mmm. I’m kinda craving for some katsu, actually.”
“Ooh, I know a good place!” Soonyoung answers almost immediately, his face lighting up. “But it’s not available for delivery. You guys wanna go there or…?”
“Jeonghan can’t leave his dough, Soon,” you scrunch your nose and take out your phone to open the delivery app. “Let’s eat something else.”
“Or I can go by myself. I don’t mind.” Your best friend shrugs. “It’s not that far from here too and I want them too now that I’ve mentioned it.”
As per usual Kwon Soonyoung style, he’s out of the door before any of you can stop him. But, then again, you know you’d be too hungry later on if you take more time to ponder about what to eat so it might be for the better that he goes to buy food now.
“He didn’t even ask what kind of katsu we want to eat.” Jeonghan chuckles to himself and continues his way with his dough. “By the way. If you open the big fridge, I already have a batch of chocolate rum choux ready.”
You light up at the mention of the sweet treat that Jeonghan actually laughs out loud. “When did you make these?!”
“I’ve been here since seven in the morning,” he grins, and then tells you the current batch he’s working on is the last one for choux because he needs to practice for the other menu. “I think I found out why I kept on messing the dough. The batch this morning is almost perfect, so…”
You pop one of the choux into your mouth, and you frown the same time you squeal about how good it is. “This is perfect! What could you possibly fix for this?”
“You’d know,” he winks and cracks his neck from side to side. “God, my neck is stiff. I’ve been making these for hours.”
“You should rest then.” You look at him in worry, and it’s only then that you realize how he has hot patches on the back of his neck and on his arms. He always gets like this when he wants to perfect a recipe, and while it’s admirable that he’s going to this extent, it always worries you everytime it happens. “You’re about done with the dough, aren’t you? A little more and you can leave it in the oven?”
Jeonghan nods and exhales a deep breath; he really doesn’t want to rest now, but his arms are hurting and he knows it’s going to be a pain in the ass on Monday if he continues working. Thankfully, he finishes in about ten minutes and, after putting them inside the oven, the both of you go out of the kitchen to sit down on one of the sofas in the cafe.
“Christ, my back,” Jeonghan stretches from his seat. “What are you making?”
“Tea. You old man can’t handle too much caffeine, right?” You tease him from behind the counter. “I’ll make you some peppermint tea to help you relax.”
Jeonghan isn’t usually too fond of tea either and you know this, but he agrees that peppermint does make him relax and it’s something he direly needs right now.
You slide into the seat next to him out of habit, because it’s usually you and Jeonghan, Seungkwan and Chan. You share a look with him for a second and laugh at the same time, probably thinking of the same thing at that moment. You’re about to move and sit in front of him when he pulls you down, his head immediately claiming the spot on your shoulder so you’d stay in place.
“You make a good pillow,” he claims, his voice so soft like he’s about to fall asleep any second. As if on cue, he yawns into your shoulder, his fluffy hair tickling your cheek. “How longer do you think it’d take Soonyoung to come back?”
“In about 15 minutes. He texted me just now. You can take a short nap, I’ll wake you up once the food is here?” You offer, unsure if Jeonghan is more sleepy than he is hungry.
“Mmm. 15 minutes is cool,” he moves away from your shoulder and tells you to move to the edge of the sofa. You follow his words without even asking why, and, before you can even ask, he lays down sideways on your lap, facing away from you.
You chuckle at the familiar scene in front of you. These boys can be very soft at times and it’s beyond cute. Chan is the youngest but he’s literally the only one that doesn’t hog you; Seungkwan and Jeonghan would do this from time to time, just latch on to you in any way possible when they’re extremely tired and are in need of physical comfort. (Sometimes they latch on each other too, but they always choose you when you’re around for some reason.)
You let Jeonghan sleep 5 minutes longer before waking him up, the food Soonyoung brought is already set on the table by then. He groans a little when you bounce your legs, then takes three more minutes to actually get back to his senses. He’s just about to take a bite when the familiar ding of the oven rings throughout the kitchen, so, to no one’s surprise, he abandons his food and dashes to get his choux out of the oven.
The smell that fills the room once Jeonghan comes out with a tray of choux is heavenly, and you, too, abandon your food for the sake of tasting the choux first.
“Did you fill this with chocolate rum too?”
“Some of them, yeah, because there was a bit left. But most of them are vanilla.”
You happily take the choux Jeonghan hands you, the pastry still warm that you blow air into it out of reflex. Jeonghan looks at you in expectation, then breaks into a wide grin when your eyes widen the moment you swallow. That’s how he knows his dessert is a big success.
“Han, what the hell!” You hit his shoulder harder than you meant to. “How did you make it so fluffy on the inside but crispy on the outside? This is the fluffiest choux I’ve ever had!”
“Not the most delicious?” he grins, then takes a bite himself and urges Soonyoung to taste some too.
“Like it’s not obvious.” You roll your eyes, then tell him you’re bringing some home and he has no right to tell you otherwise. “This will be sold out in seconds. Tell you what, maybe we should not serve this. I kinda want them all to myself”
Jeonghan scrunches his nose shyly at the compliment, then tells you to shut up before he picks up his katsu again. Despite knowing he’s good at this, there’s something about getting validations from the people in Haven Cloud that makes him happy; perhaps it’s the fact that he knows for sure these people appreciate him and his works.
And as he watches you and Soonyoung hum happily at the taste of his choux, Jeonghan is once again glad he chooses to become a pastry chef.

A/N 2: I might get rid of the taglist because, to be honest, it turns to be quite a lot of work to tag every user one by one due to tumblrs ass system and, if i'm being quite frank, it gets discouraging to tag people and not get feedback from even 10% of them soo, yeah

banner made by the lovely @sebongmochi 💕 thank you for offering to make the banner for me!
✾ welcome to Haven Cloud ✾
If you remember me announcing an event to celebrate my 2k milestone, you've come to the right place for celebration💌

➝ What’s playing in Haven Cloud
➝ A/N: didn't mean to upload this now but i wasn't in a good mood so i hope this make someone feel better out there. i suppose haven cloud is finally open for business! thank u @twogyuu my luv for beta reading
it's almost been a year since you started working in Haven Cloud and you look back to the day you find yourself on its doorstep.
“It’s already been nine months since you started working here, huh?”
You jump at the sudden voice, having been busy zoning out as it’s a pretty slow day in the cafe. You turn to see Chan leaning on the station, his boyish smile and messy hair reminds you once again that this boss of yours is younger than you are.
Other than the fact that he’s literally the owner of this cafe you’re working at, the way he carries himself often makes you forget that he’s younger than you. He’s very mature regardless of his age, and you often find yourself admiring him when he readily solves unexpected problems in the cafe.
Be it logistics because your supplier somehow messes things up in the warehouse to entitled customers who would show up from time to time, Chan is always ready to face them; always engaging the staff if they have other alternatives even though you all know you almost always go with his opinion because it is the best one.
It’s only recently that you’ve become a full time worker, the first six month passed by in a blink of an eye even though you’re initially just here to find something to do. Being in the last year of university, you’re left with only a few classes to attend as you focus on your final paper. Perhaps you should be more thankful you don’t have any classes to redo, passing them with good enough scores that your worst grade is a C+ (Statistics be damned).
That’s good enough.
But that means you’d be a little too free for your liking; and it was months ago that you were talking to your roommate about wanting to take a part time job so you could find things to do and some side earning because why not. You’re not interested enough in academics to apply for the TA or tutoring role so those two are a no go.
“Mm. I think Mingyu mentioned his friend recently opened a cafe or something, do you want me to ask?” Lisa had offered, and you tried to recall a Mingyu even though there’s too many in your university. She’s probably referring to Mingyu from the basketball team (he’s one year above you, you think, but you’re not really aware of people who aren’t in the same department as yours), and she confirmed your assumption when she mentioned she’d ask him after he’s done with practice.
Next thing you knew, you’re already starting day one in the cafe with Chan patiently helping you through the week. He’s the owner, you were told since the beginning, having established the cafe just a little over a year ago. But because the cafe is still small and it is his main job, Chan still runs the cafe on a daily basis. He does just about everything; covers for the barista when he’s not available, cleans the table when you’re too busy in the cashier, even keeps track of inventories when he has free time.
That said, you’re only the third full-time worker in the cafe, the first one being Boo Seungkwan, the barista, and Yoon Jeonghan, the pastry chef. Later on, you found out that the three of them started Haven Cloud together. Jeonghan is actually the co-owner though he preferred to bake and serve than do “his fancy job” (his words, not yours) as the co-owner, while Seungkwan helped invest a little and offered to be the barista instead because he’s just finished taking a course for it.
“It has, huh?” You grin before going outside the station to help Ryujin clean the tables.
Ryujin is a part timer that has joined before you, though she says she’s happy with being a part timer when Chan asks if she wants to work full time with him. She’s a very attractive girl who also works part time in a hair salon (she’s been asking if you want to dye your hair because she’s just perfected a new technique), and you think that’s why Ryujin refuses Chan’s offer; she likes to try new things and she doesn’t want to be chained to one job (or anything, for that matter).
You talk some more with her and Chan as the three of you do your own stuff, your resident barista nowhere to be found–presumably in the kitchen with Jeonghan. It’s around three in the afternoon, which is a weird time for the cafe to be slow, because usually at least your regulars are already in around these hours. Right now, there’s only one customer in the cafe, a regular that’s basically a friend to all of you at this point, and he had his headphones on, focused with something on his laptop (which is why the three of you can just talk without having to worry you’d bother him).
The familiar tinkling of the bell echoes through the empty cafe, and Ryujin readily greets the customer as you get back to the cashier and Chan goes to call Seungkwan from the kitchen.
“Hi, how can I help you?” you smile at the newcomer, a pretty girl with long, black hair that you’re sure have never been here before. You’ll remember her if you have; she’s easily the most beautiful girl you’ve ever laid your eyes on.
“Hi! Saw this cafe by accident and thought I’d drop by,” she happily indulges you in small talk, eyes busy roaming the menu board on the wall. Gosh, even her voice sounds nice. “What’s your specialty?”
“Do you want caffeine or?” You’ve always liked this question, happy that someone trusts you with their order. Also, to you, it validates your position in the cafe; like, wow, someone look at you and think you’ll know what’s good. Maybe it’s a little weird to think of it that much, but you just like to know that you are a part of this cafe. That’s how dear Haven Cloud is to your heart.
“Mmm, I don’t mind either but I’m not really in the mood for a cold drink, to be honest.” She blows air into her cheek, and you almost embarrassingly squeal at how adorable she looks. Gosh, it’s not funny the amount of cafe crushes, as you and Ryujin label them, you’ve had since you started working here. There are too many people dropping by here who are way too attractive for them not to be celebrities.
Sometimes you get giddy when they return for a second time, though you don’t give them any special treatment or anything. At most, you’re just more friendly and smile a little wider when you talk to them.
You hum, pretending to consider it for a second even though you already know what you’re going to tell her since she’s said she wants something warm.
“If you like something tingly, our hot rum mocha is always a favorite even during summer.” You offer with a smile, and she just nods and says that she’d happily have that–asking for an extra cinnamon on top. “Do you want anything to go with it?”
“Our dark chocolate chip cookies are to die for.” You jump at the sudden voice, and you turn to see Jeonghan with a fresh batch of croissant (when did he even come out of the kitchen?), a flirty smile on his face as he winks at her. “I’d know.”
You roll your eyes at this tendency of his, though your customer seems to not think much of it as she shakes her head and tells him she’d get some if you recommend it. You laugh when Jeonghan mocks a broken heart, telling her he’s hurt and she’s not allowed to order the cookies for that comment and then trots back to the kitchen after he’s successfully put the tray on the rack.
“Sorry, he’s always like that.” You scrunch your nose in amusement, glad that the girl simply grins and says she doesn’t mind at all and finds him funny.
“I’ll get that dark chocolate chip cookie then,” she muses as she scans the pastry display.
“Sure. Can I get your name?”
“Oh! Jisoo,” she informs you with a smile, muttering something about how she would be coming back to try out the pastries because they all look appetizing.
You thank her when she hands you the bill to pay for her orders, and it’s then that Chan comes out of the kitchen and says that Seungkwan is apparently out to the minimarket down the street because he needs to stock something real quick. You’re not sure when did he go, but you assume he might’ve left from the backdoor and that’s why no one but Jeonghan is aware that Seungkwan’s left.
“It’s fine, I can make the drink by myself,” you shrug nonchalantly, though the thought of making a drink still makes you excited everytime it happens. “It’s one of the recipes that I’ve perfected, anyway.”
Chan grins in amusement, though he nods and leans on the station and says he’ll watch you make it. It has been quite some time since he saw you make a drink; the chance doesn’t present itself often enough because Seungkwan is there most of the time, and Chan is better at making most drinks than you are.
“To think you used to be scared to even touch the foam machine,” the younger guy teases you, and you laugh as you start to prepare the drink, your mind taking you back to approximately nine months ago when you’ve just started working in the cafe.
The weather was super nice that day. But you’re inside Haven Cloud as you sat awkwardly in front of the younger guy, having some kind of interview though you guessed he’s really just trying to see if your personality matched well with his. In a workplace this small, you suppose it’d be better for him to be with someone he knew for sure he could work with. Skills could be trained, but attitudes were another thing altogether.
Lisa had kindly offered to come with you, and she’s currently talking to Seungkwan at the counter about the pastries within the display because everything seemed delicious to her.
“I don’t… know anything about working in a cafe,” you confessed right from the beginning. Chan intimidated you for reasons that you didn’t understand, because he seemed very warm and nurturing despite his age, so you really didn’t know why you’d feel intimidated.
But you were. And you thought it’s his sharp eyes and the aura surrounding him that made you want to just bow a little and give respect to the guy. Even though he’s smiling and there’s nothing threatening about him, you know he’s not the type of person that you’d want to be enemies with.
“Always a first time,” he shrugged with a kind smile. “Do you at least know the difference between latte and mochaccino?”
“Mochaccino contains chocolate, right?”
“That’s enough basics then.” The grin he gave you was so assured, like he’s not gambling if he decided to take you in. What if you’re extremely clumsy and you ended up wasting a lot of his ingredients? “Plus, you won’t be working as a barista though it is necessary that you know the difference between our menus. Just consider it an oral exam or something.”
“What… would my work entail, exactly?”
Chan hummed, as if wondering how to answer without scaring you away. “I need someone to help me, basically. Mostly, you’d be in the cashier; but you’d need to help around with just about everything because we’re still small and I only have one part-timer at the moment.”
The way he looked at you was the first time you felt that he’s a little unsure–would you be okay with this agreement? He probably thought. You appreciated his honesty though; glad that he didn’t feel the need to conceal that you’d be working as everything you need to be if you decided to work here.
Frankly, it’s a better strategy than to trick someone into working only to find out later on that you’d have more baggage than you signed up for; who knows how long someone would stand being in such a position? He’d have a harder time looking for a replacement for god knows how often if he decided to go down that road.
“How many of you are there?” you dared to ask to get a picture of how much you’d be helping out exactly.
Chan smiled sheepishly before he answered. “Just 4. Me, the barista, the pastry chef, and the part-timer I told you about. Sometimes my brother helps when the cafe is extra busy; but it doesn’t happen that often because it’s only been a few months since we opened. We’ve picked up a few regulars though, so I think it’s a safe enough time now to recruit another help.”
For all its worth, you really did appreciate his honesty. You liked knowing what you're up against, even if it might be overwhelming at times, and you’re starting to warm up to the idea of working in this small, cozy cafe due to the fact that the owner had this much integrity. Though you’re a little worried that he might be taken advantage of one way or another by how open this guy seemed to be.
Plus, you had always wondered how it’s like to work in one after watching one too many romcoms.
After talking some more about your shifts, salary, and so on, you promised Chan you’d come back in a few days after thinking a little more. You’re not even sure what you’re going to ponder over, but you felt like it’s necessary for some reason. The pay was good considerably, and Chan even said you’re free to arrange your shifts with Ryujin as necessary, and that you’re allowed to do your assignments in the cafe too if it’s not too busy.
Maybe you’re just scared you wouldn’t be up to this job because of the vague description of ‘helping around’; the line between questioning whether you had it in you to do it and whether you wanted to do it was a little too blurry at that point.
The next day, you dropped by as a customer because Lisa had apparently fallen in love with the cafe after one visit and wanted to try the Lemon Cake that’s apparently this month’s special but wasn’t on stock yesterday because you came when Jeonghan was still baking a fresh batch.
“Oh, hi!” Chan greeted you happily, and you told him you’re here to try their delicacy and maybe some latte. “Sure! It’s a little busy today but you shouldn’t wait for long.”
Evidently, there was no line at the cashier; but it’s true that the cafe was pretty packed. You counted only three empty tables, the rest full with customers though it’s not noisy. They’re all talking in hushed tones, the soft song playing in the background still vivid in your ears despite the fact that these people were talking.
Lisa told you to find a seat after asking for your order, telling you she wanted to ask a few things to the cashier and the barista so it might be better for you to do so. Sitting down on one of the empty tables by the window, you had only just realized that you liked the ambience of this cafe. It’s not those kinda crowded, boisterous cafes even when it’s busy.
You didn’t really get to look around yesterday, but now that you had the chance, you noted that Haven Cloud was the kind of cafe you’d go to when you want to be alone with other people. You wondered if it’s because it’s still small and fairly new, but the mood of the cafe made you warm inside. You wouldn’t make a business appointment here, it’s much too homey for that. But you definitely would bring your laptop and sit down to focus by yourself.
The sound of something breaking brought you out of your mind, and you saw a little girl tearing up at the glass shards on her feet. She almost bawled when Chan came by, her mom already apologizing profusely because she accidentally dropped the plate when her kid continuously tugged on her dress.
He smiled kindly at her, you noted, telling her it’s fine then you saw him squat down to meet the little girl’s eyes. You couldn’t really hear him, but you assumed he told her there’s no need to cry and that he’s not angry at her. He looked up to the mom and, at her nod, he carried the girl in his arms so Ryujin could clean the shards; you could hear her apologizing to the customers for the inconvenience.
“Do you want a cookie?” Chan’s soft voice traveled to your table as he stood nearby, the mom too apologetic to let Ryujin clean by herself. Perhaps he asked her if he could take the kid with him for a moment–who knew? “I’ll give you one if you promise to not cry and not bother your mom when she’s holding glassware, okay? What if you got hurt?”
“You’re not mad at me?” her small voice asked, sniffling a little.
“As long as you promised to say sorry and be careful from now on,” he patted her head. You almost melt at the way she offered him her tiny pinky, and you could see that Chan himself almost squealed at how adorable the exchange was. He accepted her promise, and you saw her hug him shyly before telling him, yes, she would like to have a cookie.
You heard the woman offering to pay for the cookie, but Chan shook his head and said it’s fine and it’s an honest mistake so he’s not blaming her for anything. She still felt bad though, you suppose, because you saw her drop way too many tips on the jar that Chan definitely couldn’t refuse.
“You okay?” Snapping out of your memories, you turn to see Chan looking at you in question. He looks almost worried, though you shake your head and tell him you just zoned out for a bit there. “Mind sharing your thoughts?”
“Mmm. Just got reminded of Hanna,” you grin as you finally work on Jisoo’s order.
“Little Hanna? Mrs. Jang’s daughter?” He tilts his head, unsure why you’d suddenly thought of her.
You nod, hands busy as you tell him you just returned from a walk down memory lane. Nine months seem so long ago now that you’re here. Chan sends you a questioning gaze, but you tell him you’ll tell him later and call for Jisoo because her order is ready.
“I don’t think I’ve told you,” you start, leaning back on the counter right next to Chan as you both watch the cafe. You see Ryujin wiping the glass door, and you could’ve sworn you can hear Jeonghan cursing faintly from the kitchen followed by the sound of something thudding. “But I decided to give working here a try because I saw how you handled that situation with Hanna.”
“Really?” He seems surprised, his eyebrows shooting up behind his fringe.
“Yup. I knew you wouldn’t get mad at a kid. But I didn’t expect you’d be so gentle about the whole thing?” You reminisce, still remembering how your admiration for the guy begins to grow from that point onwards.
Chan doesn’t seem to get it, his brows creasing with a confused smile.
“You think it’s just the obvious thing to do, don’t you?” You guess with a coy smile, which Chan answers by a sheepish grin and a scratch on the side of his face. Gosh, can he be more adorable? “Well, you could’ve handled it much worse. But you didn’t. You did more than good and I admire you for that.”
“Thank you, I guess?” he says with a hesitant tone. You always find it funny how bad he is at receiving compliments no matter how deserving he is.
“Thank you,” you counter back, a genuine smile etched on your face. You’ve never expected to talk about this with Chan; not because you meant to hide it but because you simply didn’t think the chance would present itself. But now it’s here, and you’re glad it is because you think you owe Chan a lot for giving you a chance. “For letting me join the cafe.”
You pause for a second before you continue, meeting his eyes as you do so with the warmest smile on your face.
“For letting me find a home in Haven Cloud.”

Truly I'm projecting how I wish Seungkwan is appreciated by everyone around him🥲🤍 thank u for enjoying kwan's haven cloud!
something smooth / boo seungkwan
➝ Reader & Seungkwan (platonic) // feat. a lot of other idols
➝ coffee shop!au // slice of life // fluff // nonidol!au
➝ word count: 2.4k
➝ haven cloud masterlist (can be read as standalone)
➝ What’s playing in Haven Cloud
Seungkwan's the best barista you've ever known and you wish he'd own it already.
Don’t get you wrong. Seungkwan is a very handsome man.
But it’s really not your fault that your first impression of him is one that includes the guy toppling over the basket decoration and almost knocking his head on the counter. Long story short, you really just see him as a brother you need to take care of from time to time regardless of your age.
That said, you’re trying your best to hold back the teasing grin as you see girls gush over him during this workshop. Seungkwan is dashing, and it doesn’t help that he’s very charming with words that people just tend to admire him. But this is different, girls are at awe and some of them aren’t very subtle with their blatant stares. You don’t think those stares are meant to be subtle, too.
Seungkwan sends you a knowing glare from where he’s at, and you shrug innocently, snickering with Jeonghan who’s sitting beside you just to annoy the younger guy who’s demonstrating how to grind coffee beans. The both of you grin sheepishly when Chan reminds you to tone it down because otherwise Seungkwan wouldn’t be able to focus.
“Alright. If that’s clear enough, who wants to try it out first?” Seungkwan offers, his tone low, and you have to stifle a laugh by hiding your face into Jeonghan’s shoulder before Chan actually scolds you. You can’t really explain why, but it’s just funny listening to Seungkwan being this… formal. You love him with all your heart, you really do, but you’re too used to his usual loud, silly self that seeing him cool and serious is a little funny even if you admit he’s very charismatic that way; perhaps even to the point where you almost see him as a man instead of a brother.
“Can I?” A soft voice chimes first, and you see Seungkwan looking almost relieved when he spots the girl who speaks up. She’s fairly focused, you notice since earlier, and you think she’s one of the few people who actually signs up to learn how to make coffee and run the machines instead of coming here to ogle at the three men in your cafe.
It’s really not subtle the way some of them keep on glancing at those men, nor the annoyed glance they throw your way at how close you and Jeonghan are sitting with each other. Jeonghan doesn’t actually have anything to do during workshops, because Chan closes the cafe until lunch to focus on this instead. Though, truthfully, he did ask the older guy to come to attract people. That hyung of his is overly handsome and there’s no way he’s not going to exploit his looks.
Ryujin has the day off because there’s an important exam that she needs to prepare for tomorrow, but you’re sure they would’ve ogled at her too if she’s here. Honestly, sometimes you wonder why Haven Cloud isn’t a hit yet, you thought people would definitely talk once they know how the owner, the pastry chef, and the barista look like, but you suppose the people who come here wants to keep the cafe to their own–hope for the cafe to be their own little place and you’re kind of glad it’s that way.
“Oh, let me,” Seungkwan says carefully after the girl successfully did her task in one go, about to move the filter into the brew head but is failing miserably to fit the tool there. “Don’t panic, you’ll spill the grounded coffee and we don’t want that, do we?”
Jeonghan yelps when your fingers dig the skin of his arm, though whatever annoyance he harbours immediately disperse at the sight of you biting your lip to contain your squeal.
“You look like his mom.” Jeonghan shakes his head before telling you to stop gripping his arm. “Why are you even this excited? Have you never seen him do a workshop?”
“No. Last time he did it I was sick. And, because I’ve never seen so many girls swoon at him this openly. He’s, like, my son.” You match his dramatics, and Chan shushes you again because apparently you both are distracting some of the students. You want to defend yourself by saying the ones distracted are already distracted to begin with because they’re there to see Jeonghan, but Chan looks at you sternly and you pout at that. “Gosh, I know he has his own share of admirers, but it’s a little weird to see people shamelessly stare at him like that.”
You catch Seungkwan’s gaze from behind the counter, pressing his lips together to muffle a triumphant laugh. The jackass probably sees Chan scolding you even though he can’t hear anything from there.
The workshop goes quite peacefully after that, because you decide to tune in and listen to Seungkwan even though you’ve actually got this lesson already–and pretty much exclusively, if you may say so, because Seungkwan needed to train you the basic of running the machines and how to make some basic drinks when you just started working.
“Hi, handsome.” You wink once Seungkwan is close enough, the workshop finally taking a ten minute break, sitting down between you and Jeonghan and forcing you two to move just to be annoying. But of course Jeonghan is unbothered, so it’s really just you who moves to the side and makes way for Seungkwan to sit.
“You’re so annoying.” He rolls his eyes, though there’s really no malice in his voice. You share a laugh with Jeonghan, and you both tease the younger guy on how charismatic he was, teaching girls (and two guys) how to make coffee. Seungkwan pretends to not care about it, though you can tell that he’s fighting a smile and the tips of his ears are getting red from the attention.
“Seriously though, they’re all looking at you with heart eyes.” You nudge at him, and then hover in front of the younger guy to pretend to whisper with Jeonghan even though Seungkwan is literally right there between you two. “Right, Han? I think some of them are looking this way because he’s here with us.”
Jeonghan nods a confirmation, and Seungkwan huffs another sigh of annoyance though his chest bubbles with fondness at the two of you. If he’s to be honest, he’s always liked attention; and he knows with all his heart that the two of you often take turns teasing him to supply that, knowing full well Seungkwan likes it when he’s the center of attention. It’s obvious because the two of you don’t do it as much with Chan and Ryujin even though the two are just as expressive.
“What are you teaching them next?”
“The usual.” He shrugs, cracking his neck from side to side. “Latte. I always follow that route for a one time class.”
“Are they going to learn the famous Boo Seungkwan’s latte? The smoothest coffee known to mankind?” you nudge him annoyingly with a grin, which Jeonghan joins not a second later as you both continue to shower him with praises.
Chan shakes his head in amusement, not understanding how he’s the youngest between you four. For all its worth though, he can’t be more grateful knowing everyone gets along to this extent. “Alright, give it a rest, guys. He needs to continue the workshop in a bit and I don’t want him all red in the face.”
It’s funny, to be honest, because Chan and Seungkwan actually bicker a lot more than one could imagine though it’s all in good heart. But you suppose this is another reminder that Chan is just born to be a leader–he knows when to draw the line and when to let it be; doesn’t really hesitate to voice his concern out loud even if he might be considered as a killjoy at times.
The four of you talk a little after that, wondering if it’s a good idea to open a baking workshop for a change because Jeonghan is… well, Jeonghan. He’s a very good baker, but you’re not sure if he’s fit to lead a workshop. He’s flirty and he likes to joke around with your customers–sometimes a little too much, but the only reason why he gets away with it is because he’s literally Yoon Jeonghan–plus, you’re sure 90% of the applicants would just come to watch him instead of actually learning how to bake.
Seungkwan gets back to his station after that, glaring at you once again when you cheer softly for ‘the world’s smoothest latte’. It’s always fun with Seungkwan, and as much as you tease him, you’re being serious when you say his coffee is probably the best you’ve ever tasted and, as a university student with trouble staying awake, you’ve tasted shit ton of coffee.
He’s a friend who’s very self-assured, but quickly turns abashed the moment you praise him for his talent. It’s the perfectionist in him, you think; it burdens him to know people expect a lot of something that he knows he’s good at. As much as he knows his worth, he’s an even stricter judge when it comes to his own craft.
Well, you’ll never tire to remind him his coffee is probably god tier. Sometimes that’s really all Seungkwan needs to hear.
Listening to Seungkwan talk about steaming milk and how to make latte art to other people feels like watching a lecture–a very interesting one that gets you concentrating even though some stuff just goes past your mind. You can tell how much the guy adores his coffee, how passionate he is and how he actually wishes these people would actually understand what he’s demonstrating and get something out of this course.
He shows them how to make latte arts, and even has it in him to show off his skill by making a bear out of the foam. You roll your eyes at his smirk when people ‘ooh’ at his latte, though deep down you’re just really proud that Seungkwan is owning his skill and showing people what he’s got. Because, frankly, you think he’s been too modest with what he’s got.
You see him gently guide a few students with the machine and then their arts, heart swelling with pride at how professional and in his element Seungkwan looks. Perhaps it has to do with your talk not too long ago.
It kind of hurts to listen to Seungkwan talk about how he thinks he’s not as good as Chan or Jeonghan makes him to be–that it makes him nervous and floods doubts into his head. Seeing him like this, you feel like you can now confidently pick a memory that serves as a reminder someday for Seungkwan that he’s good where he’s at and everything more.
Almost two hours later, you, Seungkwan, and Chan are huddled together on the sofa seat. The workshop has just ended fifteen minutes ago, and Seungkwan is lying on your lap as you play with his ear because it’s something that has always helped him relax. Chan sits on the sofa across you while Jeonghan is in the kitchen to get some freshly baked pastries for Seungkwan.
“You’ve worked hard.” You tug on his ear lightly, making the guy whine. He’s been standing for almost two hours straight, and now that the rush of teaching other people about coffee has finally left his body, the exhaustion catches up and he claims he can’t really feel his legs–hence the position you find yourself in. “You were very cool, you know? Never thought I’d say it out loud.”
He pouts at your words, though you know he understands what you’re trying to say. Chan is going through the feedbacks the students left, and you laugh as you see Seungkwan hides his face in your middle at the constant praises Chan is reading out loud.
“This one says ‘I really like the way Seungkwan explains things passionately. It didn’t feel like a workshop at all. I actually applied because I had nothing to do and came across the ad on Instagram, but I’m glad I came. I got to learn a lot and he’s very handsome too ;) Totally makes it easy to concentrate. Will he be making my drink if I come as a customer?’. Cherrie, have you been counting how many of these have called Seungkwan handsome?” Chan asks teasingly, making Seungkwan buries his face even deeper to your stomach.
“Ah, I think I’m about to lose my title as the Handsome Chef,” Jeonghan joins in effortlessly, telling Seungkwan to get up and eat the croissant because they need to open the cafe in a bit. “But it’s okay. I think Handsome Barista has a better ring to it. And because it’s Seungkwan, I will gladly step down from the title.”
You laugh at how warm his neck feels, immediately telling the guys about it only to have Seungkwan get up from your lap and huff at you guys for picking at him the whole day. You giggle at his pout, though he bites into the pastry anyway and hums in appreciation. You scoot closer to lay your head on his shoulder, taking a bite when Seungkwan offers the delicacy to your lips.
Jeonghan and Chan get back to the kitchen not long after that to get ready, though not before ensuring Seungkwan it’s okay for him to rest some more because they still have about 30 minutes to go and he’s basically been working since morning. Chan’s brother is coming in a bit to help, anyway.
“But, really, you were very cool, Kwan,” you say softly, head still perched against his shoulder. This much, you hope Seungkwan knows how sincere you’re being. “I hope you don’t doubt yourself ever again. If you do, just take a look at these feedbacks and remember how all of your students sing praises to you when the only question asked was how they felt about the workshop.”
Seungkwan smiles through his nose before his hands start to play with the pile of folded cards full of feedback regarding the workshop. You pick some that is basically a confession letter, and Seungkwan snatches it from you before you can tease him further–you’ve done that enough for the day.
“Thank you though,” he whispers out of nowhere, eyes still focused on the card in his hands. He’s smiling shyly to himself, not having it to look at you when he says those words. “For always reminding me all is good.”
You pull away and beam at him, dropping a kiss on his cheek before telling him that’s just your duty as his friend–that you’ll remind him a thousand times more if that’s what you need to do to make him believe he’s the best barista in your world.

something smooth / boo seungkwan
➝ Reader & Seungkwan (platonic) // feat. a lot of other idols

➝ A/N: aand we're finally back with another chapter of Haven Cloud <3 i genuinely thought i'd have more time to write now that i'm not working anymore but alas sdhfds as always, please enjoy this andd do tell me what you think if you do. thank you!
Ryujin is sick.
And you really don’t blame her nor are you annoyed because it is flu season. But the timing couldn’t be worse because there’s a buy drink get dessert event going on in the cafe and there’s definitely an influx of customers because of it. You’re pretty sure Haven Cloud would double the number of its regulars soon.
It was day one yesterday and you’re already beyond exhausted. Apparently, it doesn’t really matter even though you’ve recruited Soonyoung and Wendy as temporary part timers during the three days event, because it honestly still feels like you’re understaffed. So, really, having your regular part timer getting sick during this time is honestly the last thing you’d wish yourself upon. It’s Saturday, for God’s sake.
Fortunately, she already has a replacement.
Unfortunately, Seokmin is bad at memorizing beverages.
But you really can’t tell him to only do the dishes or main the cashier because you don’t have enough dishes for him to do all day and he doesn’t have any experience maining the cashier. You’re not insane enough for that.
So you settle for him to cater for desserts and serve the customers at first, and tell him he’ll be helping with the dishes later. He just needs to take the dessert, warm them if the customer asks for it, and then serve them to the tables. Piece of cake (aha!) (as long as he’s not clumsy, that is).
“You… are familiar with our desserts, right?” you ask the tall guy in front of you. He looks very sweet, to put it simply, the kinda person whose heart and intention you will not doubt at all. You think he’s kind of shy though, because he can’t hold your eyes for longer than two seconds and it’s pretty amusing to watch because this man is easily taller and his arms can probably crush you with no extra effort whatsoever.
“I am.” He scrunches his nose, and you spend the next ten minutes making sure he really is aware of them by pointing out random pastries and asking him their names and flavors. Thankfully, he only gets them mixed up two times and you’re suddenly glad that Chan didn’t go with his original plan of making unique names for all desserts instead of just calling them as they are.
“Kitchen, please! These pastries are ready!” You hear Jeonghan’s small scream, and you go inside with Seokmin to help put them on display. Chan insists on having fresh ones for the event, and he even rents an extra long table for the special desserts though the five of you were a bit unsure if it’d sell out. It did though, and if yesterday told you anything, renting the table is definitely worth it. The dessert leftovers from yesterday was only a third of the usual amount, which means it’s considerably less because you did have more stock because of the table.
Ten minutes later, Haven Cloud is open for business and it’s a blur after that. Chan’s brother is even here to help after lunch, and it’s then that you finally have time to eat lunch because the cafe is full and it means you can rest a bit and take turns for a quick break. Jeonghan pats your head when you come into the kitchen, telling you he’s just heating up your food so you can just sit somewhere and wait for a bit.
“This one’s for Seokmin. I’m gonna cover for him as he takes his break,” the older guy says,
For the most part, it has been quite an eventful day even though it’s been tiring (and you still have like four more hours to go before closing), your heart is happy though, because the event is definitely a lot more successful that all of you have expected to the point where it’s obvious that Haven Cloud is going to grow much more after this.
You look up when you hear the door open again, revealing Seokmin who sends you a forced grin. You signal him to sit beside you after he takes his plate, and he seems a little hesitant for some reason, but he does just as you gesture and sits on the stool right next to you.
“Did something happen?” you ask at last, not liking the way he seems down. He’s easily the kindest person you’ve ever met, and you say this when you’ve only known him for a total of six hours top. Yes, sometimes he comes in as a customer, but he always has his orders to go and even then you’ve always felt like his smile could light up the whole room.
Which is why the way his smile doesn’t reach his eyes doesn’t sit well with you.
Seokmin hesitates, but you insist and he eventually tells you there’s a little commotion outside earlier because he served the wrong order. The original table doesn’t really mind, even tells him it’s okay and they understand it can happen because it’s very busy; but the other customer who got the wrong order got mad beyond rude that Chan has to step up and tells them to calm down because they’re bothering the other tables.
You gape a little at the story, knowing full well that entitled customers are bound to appear when you have these many guests; but it annoys you that it’s Seokmin of all people that has to deal with them though it’s clear that Chan has it under control.
“I’m sorry you had to experience that.” Your brows furrow in annoyance, no longer feel like eating after the story. Seokmin smiles weakly, and you can see the way he’s slowly munching on his food–probably lost his appetite too but he knows he needs it anyway.
Nudging his shoulder in encouragement, you remind him that he totally didn’t deserve that even if he did make a mistake; that the customer is definitely too much and there was never any need to be that rude.
You hide a pout at Seokmin’s forced smile, not liking the situation one bit. Yes, you haven’t known him for long and you keep on saying this, but it’s pretty obvious that he’s a kind person and seeing him like this doesn’t sit well with you.
“Tell you what, we should go out for dinner tomorrow after closing,” you nod at him, deep in your thought that you don’t notice him tensing beside you. “We should celebrate. We all deserve it, I think. Like, you’ve been here for half a day and you can tell how tiring it is already, right?”
You can’t quite translate the sigh he lets out, unsure if he’s tired or if he finds your invitation bothersome. You have known the guy for a total of seven hours anyway, you can see why the invitation might be uncomfortable for him.
“Um, yeah,” he smiles awkwardly. “We all should. Ryujin should be all better too by tomorrow, right?”
“Are you not able to help out tomorrow?” You ask him, wide-eyed.
He blinks at how hopeful you sound, like you wish he’d be here again tomorrow. Or is he making things up?
“I mean, I’m not sure if Ryujin will be better or not by tomorrow, but I think we could use your help either way,” you say honestly, and then proceed to make his heartbeat skips a little when you say how much you appreciate his help and his presence. “We’ve had plenty of substitutes and our own share of part-timers so, really, I can tell when people genuinely want to help and those that want me to shut up already the moment I call them.”
He huffs a laugh at that, and you grin at your successful attempt at cheering him up albeit a little. You spend the rest of your short break talking to each other, because even though you’re not usually this chatty with someone you barely know, Seokmin makes you comfortable enough for that and you feel like he needs it so you don’t see why not.
Thankfully, his mood seems to pick up after that, as he keeps on sending you a smile every time your eyes accidentally meet from across the room. Seungkwan nudges you and wriggles his eyebrows once, and you tilt your head in confusion but don't get to ask for an explanation because another customer comes in and takes your attention.
It’s later that night that you finally get your explanation.
You, Soonyoung and Seungkwan are cleaning the tables while Seokmin and Chan go out to buy dinner. It’s almost half past eight, which means it’s only been about thirty minutes since you’ve flipped the ‘closed’ sign and about fifteen minutes since the last customer leaves. Wendy and Jeonghan are cleaning the kitchen, so it’s just the three of you and that’s when Seungkwan decides to bring the earlier instance up again.
“What was that earlier?”
“What?”
“You and Seokmin.”
You frown. What?
Seungkwan rolls his eyes, too tired to play your game. “Come on.”
But you look even more confused and that’s when Seungkwan realizes that you aren’t messing with him and you really don’t realize what’s been going on.
“He looks at you like a lost puppy asking to be picked up, Cherrie,” he spells it out for you with the most serious tone he can muster, because he knows you never believe him and while he knows it’s on him (and Jeonghan) because he often teams up with the older guy to mess with you, sometimes it’s beyond annoying when he’s actually telling the truth and you refuse to believe him.
“You’re seeing things,” you snort as you shake your head, and then continue on your way to set up the table for dinner. “He just looks like a lost puppy in general.”
“That is true, but he keeps on looking at you, alright?”
It’s your turn to roll your eyes this time, but Soonyoung cuts you before you can even say anything. “He’s right, y’know? He does keep on looking at you.”
“See? I’m not making things up.”
You frown and click your tongue in annoyance, telling them to stop messing with you. “I don’t like the two of you ganging up on me.”
Soonyoung laughs and messes your hair, the grin on his face makes you want to strangle him right there and then.
“Come on, Seokmin must’ve–”
“We’re back, guys!” Chan announces happily, pushing the glass door with his body. Seungkwan shouts for Wendy and Jeonghan while Soonyoung quickly helps them set the food on the table. “We wanted to get something more fancy but we’re going to eat out with Ryujin tomorrow so I thought pizza should be enough.”
“You made him buy this, didn’t you?” You jokingly narrow your eyes at Seokmin, recalling how he said he’s craving for some pizza during break earlier.
He grins sheepishly, and you hear Soonyoung snorts softly behind you, thankfully much too soft for anyone else to hear. You glare at your best friend, and he pretends to zip his mouth and pushes you to sit down already.
Unfortunately for you, you’re sandwiched between him and Seungkwan, and the two wouldn’t stop whispering about Seokmin to your ears though at least they’re being subtle enough about it because you wouldn’t know how to face the kind guy sitting in front of you had they been too loud about it.
“He so has a crush on you,” Soonyoung whispers against your ear, way too close that you lean away from him because his breath tickles. You glare at him and proceed to elbow him on the guts, making him choke a little out of shock. He pouts at you but you don’t relent and you just shake your head as he says he’ll get back at you for it.
It’s then that you accidentally meet Seokmin’s eyes, and it’s your turn to smile shyly like you’ve been caught talking about him (you’re going to give these 2 men hell for this), your ears getting hot for no reason at all. Still, you raise your eyebrows in question just in case, but he simply huffs a smile and returns to his meal.
You blink at the interaction, wondering why it’s flustering you. Gosh, Soonyoung and Seungkwan must be getting to your head.
Or you’re just more lonely than you thought.
Anyhow, it doesn’t stop you from biting your lip like an idiot that night, unsure how to feel about the messages on your inbox.

HIII ah im so glad youre excited for haven cloud!!! This is really just going to be pure slice of life kinda series so i hope lots of you can relate 🤩
haven cloud / prologue.
banner made by the lovely @sebongmochi 💕
➝haven cloud masterlist
✾ welcome to Haven Cloud ✾
In a small cafe downtown, a little hidden by the alley, you find yourself once again looking around this little safe haven of yours. It's not as crowded as Starbucks or other more well known local brands, but you like it that way because when it's busy, it's just busy enough.
Sometimes you just spend your day watching Seungkwan making coffees, asking him to teach you when you have nothing to do; or you'd sit with Minghao when the day is slow and listen to that regular of yours rant about his day; or maybe help Chan organize a new event for the cafe.
You didn't think you'd like it this much when you started working here, but you've fallen in love with the job as much as you do the place. You did start working here just to look for something to do, after all, but you've found more than that.
You've found comfort, you've found another home, and you've witnessed lives through the cafe that you'd never imagine would mean so much to you. You like that Haven Cloud is small and perhaps a little too hidden, you'd need to walk in a little more to get into the cafe because it's not on the main road.
Perhaps that's why the cafe and everything in it feels closer to your heart; because it's small and it's dear.
Hearing the main door open accompanied by the small tinkling of bell, you snap out of your thoughts and smile at the new person coming into the cafe, ready to greet them with a welcome heart.
"Welcome to Haven Cloud."

Seriously as someone who writes fanfic I feel like being told a certain member, esp Kwan who I rarely write, is really well written means everything to me so thank u aaaa 😭😭😭😭😭😭
something smooth / boo seungkwan
