went to see some local theatre recently and ofc. it reignited my passion for this show and its revival... Mr. Sweeney Todd. I would let u throw me into a pie furnace any day...
Do you ever think about ms moony and how she went from a fairly successful (in comparison) pie shop owner to having her competitor blow tf up, the city being on fire, and then they're like oh yeah sweeney and lovett were using people as ingredients the whole time also he burned her to death
People who are surprised at how great Josh Groban sounds as Sweeney Todd clearly never heard the cast album for Natasha, Pierre and The Great Comet of 1812.
Finished coloring this like yesterday at 2 am or smth and also made this meme because I saw it on facebook somewhere and it is cracking me up way too much
Speaking of haunting the narrative and coming back wrong, Sweeney Todd does both in such a heartbreaking way.
Lucy isn't dead, but we don't know until the end of the story when Sweeney has killed her himself. He has spent all those years bent on avenging a woman he knows better how to mourn than love, only to fuck it up so badly he doesn't resist death when it comes for him. She's the first thing to greet him upon his return to London and he can't even recognize her or bother to give a proper look because he is looking for a ghost of the past.
They both came back wrong and it's not their fault until Mrs. Lovett tries to sway things her way. Lucy has been traumatized out of her mind but has a sense of recognition of someone, something that she knew before she got like that. She keeps trying to see him to figure out what it is, but is swatted away. Sweeney has been too distracted by his plot against the judge and letting years of rage consume him.
Mrs. Lovett stands between two ghosts: the one she wants to haunt her for life and the one she wishes would disappear. It destroys all three of them.
Josh Groban!Sweeney Todd: Fifteen years sweating in a living hell on a trumped up charge. Fifteen years dreaming that, perhaps, I might come home to a loving wife and child.
Me: Sir, do you not understand most of the people watching this would open their heart and their legs for you and give you another family?
