Discovery "Whistlespeak" initial thoughts (no spoilers)

On one hand, fluffy nonsense episodes of Trek can be cloying. This one was saccharine to an extreme.

But I don't hate that. Sometimes it feels nice not to feel bad after watching something.

Maybe that's a major part of why some people can't stand "nuTrek" When its bleak, its hella bleak. Seven mercy killing Icheb and then going on a Rambo rampage with more or less every consequentialist argument ending in that being good, actually, still bothers me deeply.

On the other hand, when its wholesome, it often feels very over the top. I can't quite put my finger on whether it feels so performative because it is performative or if its because we've spent the last twenty or thirty years since TNG ended being taught that muted colors and sadness is "realistic."

"Whistlespeak" feels like an ice cream sundae made with artificial sweetener. There's something that feels weird on the emotional palette, but its still an ice cream sundae so I'm in a better mood regardless.

Fluffy Trek episodes are valid.

Annie meted it out to her, rolling onto her toes to make delivery. It was supposed to be a fleeting kiss, born out of spite. Quick and defiant, rising to the challenge set. Instead, it arrived softer than anticipated, and lasted longer than it should have – long enough for Annie to marvel at the petal-press of Hitch’s lips against her own, how the floral, honeyed notes of her perfume cut through the stink of smoke and liquor that permeated their clothes.

No alcohol burned in her bloodstream. Intoxication could not be blamed for her actions. Still, when Annie sank back onto her heels, she looked almost drunk, eyes dark and unblinking as she redressed her face with a scowl.

Have some recolors!

So I came up with my own hair set that I’ve called Drizzle

I didn’t come up with the colors on my own, but I did fiddle with them: Hot Fudge (black), Salted Caramel (brown), and Creme Liqueur (grey) are all from Aelia’s Eco Naturals palette. Butterscotch (blonde) is from Pastry-Box’s Sweetened Saccharine, and Maraschino (red) is Digital Angel’s verin. All were renamed to fit my scheme “Drizzle”, though 4 out of the 5 were already food themed.

I don’t know if I’ll end up keeping/using all four families above, but I sort of fell in love with SD5′s Red Velvet and I think my Butterscotch may just have bumped Remi V2 blonde out of my number one blonde spot. Anyway, enough blather from me; on to the download!

Nine 4t2 clay hairs in 4 families, recolors only, not retextured. Meshes included. Binned, greys linked to black. Meshes have been renamed! Preview picture above included in zipped file. Files (meshes excluded) have been compressorized. (Is that all the things I’m supposed to say?)

Whoa, what? Most fruits taste spoiled?? Did you accidentally upset one of the Fae?

Nah, it’s supertasting!  My mom’s side of the family tastes sugars and sweeteners with particular sensitivity-  My aunt was employed at smuckers as a taste-tester for thier jams becuase she could tell if there was anything even slightly off with how they mixed it.

I can tell the difference between sucrose, glucose, fructose, cane sugar, honey, maple, agave, beet sugar, aspertame, saccharin, Ace-K, sucralose, xylotol, erythrol, and a couple others. I’d be able to tell more if I actively trained my palette.  The thing is that fructose, the sugar you find  mostly in fruits, tastes AWFUL and like spoilage to me.

let me just tell yall that i started this project at like maybe 7ish pm. it is now 2 in the morning. who knew how difficult it was to recolor hairs, or perhaps it’s just cause i’m literally a moron who has a hard time literally just walking. anywaysss i bring you : the sweetener hairstyle recolored in the saccharine palette ! i’ve really been loving the saccharine palette by @pastry-box​ lately and i havent seen anyone recolor this hair in this color palette yet, so i figured hey, why don’t i give it a go.

Hi everyone so this is a recolour set I've been working on for a bit as this set includes a slight texture edit of the original Doctor Slone Hair that has their own recolours as well.
