A... diary entry, apparently.
I know. I’ve been silent yet again, and I apologize incredibly for that.
I’ll just say that life can’t seem to give me a break, and I’m the type where my degree of becoming reclusive is dependent on how severe my depression is. Of course, it’s the usual luck with neighbors. I can’t write, draw, craft, ect when my mind isn’t clear.
In turn, I have fallen out of a few role plays and connections I started last year. Partially due to feeling ashamed and rude for not posting back. Partially due to feeling incapable of being a decent person to talk to. I can’t say how sorry I am to those I have seemingly ghosted. Just please don’t think you’ve done anything wrong, I have lost interest in you, ect. I simply just don’t feel like a worth while being to interact with in my current state.
On the upside we are moving again. It’ll happen on the 1st of next month. I have a lot of hopes for our next place. It’s very rural and the area is extremely beautiful, as if I stepped right into Coerthas itself. Thankfully this place isn’t an endless winter. Still, I’m hoping that a damn house with no shared walls in the middle of no where will finally let us be at peace.
We’re just so tired of our luck with crappy, loud neighbors. Our last one below had an acoustic drum set that the landlord said was allowed to play as much as he wants during the day. New ones aren’t quite as bad as the last, but their love for booms in their music and movies with their surround sound and near-constant smell of weed leaking into our apartment now... eh.
Anyway, enough ranting. I will warn others that, since this house is very rural, it actually has absolutely no internet! It has a phone line, but the only DSL provider in the area can’t offer DSL. With some research, it turns out that the further from the source a house is the less mbps it’s capable of having. In our case, I think if the ISP could connect us it would only be something like 1.25mbps. Wew.
I have learned that satellite has shit latency, therefor stuff like XIV would actually be unplayable in harder content, regardless of my mbps speed. On the other hand, 4G LTE is actually very excellent and can be anywhere from 15mbps to 30mbps depending on congestion of the nearby towers and how far said towers are from you. Fixed Wireless is a new thing popping up too that’s kin to 4G LTE but faster, however it’s set up like a satellite, which means you have to set up a dish and wire a cable into the house. That’s a no for us since that would require drilling on a property we don’t even own.
Unless we find a better solution, we’re going to attempt Verizon’s highest unlimited plan which comes with 75GB before throttling and 20GB tethering before throttling. Sounds like there’s Android apps out there that mask your tethering too, so hopefully we won’t be limited to 20GB. Also, judging by a cellular tower map, Verizon has three towers pretty close to our address, so it would have the best connection. Only other tower in the area was a singular T-Mobile tower that was further away. We’re on Google Fi so we’re pretty certain that was the tower we were connected to, and we only had about 3 bars and was on 3G.
Errent and I have tested 4G LTE by both playing XIV at the same time, tethering our PS4s to our phone. We decided on a run of Orbonne, since we thought it would be the most data heavy instance there is besides maybe Eureka. Errent even decided to go mnk and we both decided to really push dodging AOEs at the last possible moment to see if latency would get us. Surprizingly, we felt absolutely no lag or latency.
Between the both of us, we did some math and figured we’d use 21GB a month from XIV. This was based off of a 40 min run of Orbonne multiplied by 8 hours a day for 31 days straight. We don’t play XIV this much, and we wouldn’t be doing something as data-intense as Orbonne for every moment we’re online either haha. Yes, I have a habit of over estimating when it comes to stuff like this. Needless to say, not counting patches and updates, XIV actually uses very little data and plays perfectly well on 4G LTE.
Now we just need to figure out how to do our updates. We play on PS4s so it isn’t exactly easy to just lug these to a free hotspot in the city. It does have remote play on Android if I remember correctly, but I need to see if it’s possible to actually start the PS4 this way. Searching around, it seems like they set up the PS4 to not be able to be updated manually by USB either. Ugh.
If anyone has any kind of tips or information for our internet troubles, feel free to drop your thoughts. Any help is good help. For now, unless we find out we can do Fixed Wireless without any drilling and actually find a provider that can service our address, looks like it’ll be Verizon.

The terms ask that companies commit to keeping service active for residential and small business users, waive fees for late payments, and open up Wi-Fi access to anybody that might need it. As of April 6, more than 650 companies had signed on. The letter goes on to say that it's important to keep people connected during a time when people will naturally distance themselves from each other. Initial announcements from AT&T, Sprint, US Cellular, and Verizon Wireless follow the FCC's terms to the letter for their wireless services. AT&T and Verizon have also made matching commitments for their landline broadband services. T-Mobile went above and beyond the call with several additional steps to help out its customers. Anybody with a limited data plan on T-Mobile or Metro automatically got unlimited smartphone data (excluding roaming). Those who had mobile hotspot and tethering received an additional 20GB to use. Carriers introduce plans to keep consumers connected during COVID-19 pandemic
Earlier this month, the FCC issued a new measure aimed at easing some of the burdens on consumers as COVID-19 continues to have an increasingly profound impact on nearly every aspect of life.
Most or all major internet and wireless providers in the U.S. signed up for the pledge, agreeing to take actions like waiving late fees and not terminating service. Now specific plans are starting to emerge from carriers, aimed at helping cash-strapped consumers until this pandemic blows over.
T-Mobile this morning announced the launch of a $15/month Metro plan — at half the cost of its current lowest-price plan. The pricing will be in place for the next 60 days, including unlimited talk and 2GB of data. The company is also tossing in a free eight-inch tablet (with rebate, plus fine print) and will be adjusting other data plans for the next two months.
At the same time, Verizon (TC’s parent company) announced that it will be adding 15GB of 4G data to current consumer and small business plans, in an effort to help customers use their handsets as mobile hotspots as needed. The company will also be taking $20 off select FiOS plans and waving router rental fees for 60 days.
Like the other carriers, AT&T noted in a message to TechCrunch that it will not terminate service over inability to pay. It will also be waiving late fees, along with domestic overcharges for data, voice and text, retroactive to March 13.
Sprint, meanwhile, will provide for 60 days unlimited data to customers with metered plans, starting March 18, along with 20GB of free mobile hotspot data.

T-Mobile Update on COVID-19 Response
Over the past few weeks, T-Mobile has been working on a response plan to mobilize every area of our business to support customers, employees and the community as we face the new challenges of COVID-19. We recognize that T-Mobile customers are relying on our network to ensure they have critical connections with family, loved ones and service providers. Keeping our customers connected and our employees safe and healthy are our highest priorities.
Below is an update on our ongoing efforts.
Giving
We take our responsibility to give back seriously, particularly in times of need. T-Mobile announced plans to extend that support to the communities we serve that have seen the impacts of COVID-19 with a focus on supporting youth and those facing hunger as a result of COVID-19.
T-Mobile is giving up to $500,000 to Boys and Girls Clubs of America COVID-19 Relief Fund through social media and a text-to-give matching campaign through the month of April.
T-Mobile gave $700,000 to Feeding America’s COVID-19 Response Fund – of that $500,000 came from T-Mobile Tuesdays, a program that thanks customers with exclusive offers, every Tuesday, and $200,000 from the season finale of Slow Cooker Sunday, a weekly Facebook live show hosted by T-Mobile CEO John Legere.
The T-Mobile Foundation gave $100,000 to the COVID-19 Response Fund hosted by the Seattle Foundation that will rapidly deploy resources to community-based organizations at the frontlines of the coronavirus outbreak in the greater Seattle and Puget Sound region.
The T-Mobile Foundation is offering a 2:1 match for employees who want to give additional funds to Feeding America or the CDC Foundation that supports the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s critical health protection work.
Customers
Now, more than ever, as school and workplace closures are happening each day, reliable internet connectivity is crucial. So, we stepped up to take measures that will ensure ALL current T-Mobile customers on plans that have data are provided the unlimited connectivity they need to learn and work and that customers still have access to all the support they may need from our retail and care experts.
In response to COVID-19, T-Mobile introduced T-Mobile Connect, its lowest prices smartphone plan ever, and added lower-cost options for Metro by T-Mobile to help ensure everyone has an affordable option to get and stay connected during these challenging times.
We’re lighting up additional 600 MHz spectrum for 60 days starting March 14, expanding network capacity for customers across the country. We’re also expanding roaming access for Sprint customers to use the T-Mobile network. More here.
ALL current T-Mobile and Metro by T-Mobile customers who have plans with data will have unlimited smartphone data for 60 days (excluding roaming) starting March 14.
Providing T-Mobile and Metro by T-Mobile customers an additional 20GB of mobile hotspot / tethering service for the next 60 days starting March 20 (10GB per bill cycle for the next 60 days) for each voice line. (T-Mobile Connect excluded).
Working with our Lifeline partners to provide customers extra free data up to 5GB of data per month over the next two months.
Increasing the data allowance for free to schools and students using our EmpowerED digital learning programs to ensure each participant has access to at least 20GB of data per month for the next 60 days starting March 14.
Offering free international calling for ALL current T-Mobile and Metro by T-Mobile customers to Level 3 impacted countries.
Supporting the FCC’s Keep Americans Connected Pledge focused on ensuring residential and small business customers with financial impacts do not lose service.
T-Mobile will temporarily close about 80% of its’ company-owned retail stores until at least March 31st
Retail store hours: Starting April 1st, all T-Mobile and Metro by T-Mobile stores that have remained open will operate on an updated schedule of 11 am to 6 pm, Monday to Saturday, and 12 pm to 6 pm on Sunday. All our stores will be closed on Easter Sunday.
Virtual Retail: Beginning on April 3rd, customers will be able to chat with a retail Mobile Expert through the T-Mobile website, through Apple Business Chat, or through Facebook Messenger to activate a new device or add lines to their accounts. Products will arrive via free two-day shipping (through 5/13).
Mobile and Curbside Fulfilment: Beginning now in select markets, and nationally in the second half of April, customers can make appointments through the store locator page on T-Mobile.com for curbside or mobile fulfilment (look for “Appointments Available”).
Retail store availability: For those customers needing in-person support and essential services from one of our trusted Mobile Experts, approximately half of our stores will be open in April, covering many of our customers within a 20-minute drive time.
The stores that remain open, which are distributed across the country, will operate on reduced schedules and only stay open for eight hours each day – from 10 am to 6 pm local time for most stores

Employees
T-Mobile takes our designation by the government as a critical communications infrastructure provider seriously and continues to evaluate the appropriate steps we need to take as a business to align guidelines from State, Local and Federal Government agencies with what’s best for our customers and our employees. To support our employees as they continue to serve customers we have taken the following actions:
Providing Paid Time Not Worked for those employees in high risk categories who are sick or have been diagnosed with COVID-19 (up to 14 days).
Providing Paid Time Not Worked for employees who need intermediate support for childcare arrangements during immediate school closures (up to 5 days plus additional individual assistance on a case-by-case basis as needed)
Establishing commission guarantees and bonus guarantee in roles where that applies to ensure consistency in income
Working with our independently-owned operator partners to implement a support plan for them and their employees
Care Facilities: In our Care facilities, we continue to transition to a remote work force. Now more than 6,700 of our internal care and over 8,000 of our Global Care experts have transitioned to a work from home environment. We anticipate transitioning all 17 of our internal sites to a similar work from home experience by April 3rd so we can continue to deliver on our promise to keep customers connected to each other and the world.

Carriers introduce plans to keep consumers connected during COVID-19 pandemic
Earlier this month, the FCC issued a new measure aimed at easing some of the burdens on consumers as COVID-19 continues to have an increasingly profound impact on nearly every aspect of life.
Most or all major internet and wireless providers in the U.S. signed up for the pledge, agreeing to take actions like waiving late fees and not terminating service. Now specific plans are starting to emerge from carriers, aimed at helping cash-strapped consumers until this pandemic blows over.
T-Mobile this morning announced the launch of a $15/month Metro plan — at half the cost of its current lowest-price plan. The pricing will be in place for the next 60 days, including unlimited talk and 2GB of data. The company is also tossing in a free eight-inch tablet (with rebate, plus fine print) and will be adjusting other data plans for the next two months.
At the same time, Verizon (TC’s parent company) announced that it will be adding 15GB of 4G data to current consumer and small business plans, in an effort to help customers use their handsets as mobile hotspots as needed. The company will also be taking $20 off select FiOS plans and waving router rental fees for 60 days.
Like the other carriers, AT&T noted in a message to TechCrunch that it will not terminate service over inability to pay. It will also be waiving late fees, along with domestic overcharges for data, voice and text, retroactive to March 13.
Sprint, meanwhile, will provide for 60 days unlimited data to customers with metered plans, starting March 18, along with 20GB of free mobile hotspot data.

"Comcast announced late Friday that it is suspending enforcement of its data cap and overage fees for 60 days during the coronavirus pandemic.
"“With so many people working and educating from home, we want our customers to access the Internet without thinking about data plans,” Comcast’s announcement said. “While the vast majority of our customers do not come close to using 1TB of data in a month, we are pausing our data plans for 60 days giving all customers unlimited data for no additional charge.”
"T-Mobile also issued an announcement late Friday, saying it will upgrade all current customers to “unlimited smartphone data for the next 60 days (excluding roaming).” This applies to any T-Mobile plan or Metro by T-Mobile prepaid plan that has a monthly data cap. Additionally, T-Mobile said it is giving all customers “an additional 20GB of mobile hotspot/tethering service for the next 60 days.” Sprint, which is being acquired by T-Mobile, is taking identical steps.
"Comcast is also making its Xfinity Wi-Fi hotspots free for anyone to use. Millions of the hotspots are scattered throughout the country; you can find hotspot locations here. The hotspots are normally free to Comcast customers, while anyone else needs to buy a temporary pass to use them.

Announcements from AT&T, Verizon Wireless, and Sprint follow the terms pretty directly by waiving late fees and maintaining accounts for residential and small business customers for the next 60 days. US Cellular also appears on the list of pledges published by the FCC, but no official announcements have been made and its COVID-19 page doesn't currently mention making any changes. AT&T and Verizon (not the Wireless arm) have also made matching commitments for home and small business broadband services. T-Mobile has gone above and beyond the call with several additional steps to help out its customers for the next 60 days. Anybody with a limited data plan on T-Mobile or Metro will automatically get unlimited smartphone data (excluding roaming), and mobile hotspot / tethering users will get an additional 20GB (Note: the hotspot portion is described as, "coming soon," but doesn't specify what that means). T-Mobile's low-income program, Lifeline, will give an additional 5GB per month. And schools and students with service through the EmpowerED program will be guaranteed at least 20GB of data per month. T-Mobile and Metro customers will also have free international calling to Level 3 impacted countries, which includes much of Europe.
