Tachina fera. I think this is the first thing I've posted in the series that doesn't have a common name. Possibly because it's ugly on the outside (it isn't) and possibly because it's ugly on the inside (it is). The female lays its eggs on the leaves of the food plants of host caterpillars (you can see where this is going). When the eggs hatch the grubs bore into the caterpillars and eat them from the inside. "This species has a potential economic importance in forest pest control."
