ASHLYN’S HEART SWELLED, WARMTH BLOOMING in her chest as she heard taelyn’s words. she shifted slightly, tilting her head up to meet tae’s gaze, a soft smile tugging at her lips. “ you’ve always known how to make everything feel… like it matters, you know? ” her voice was quiet but full of affection. she reached out, lightly tracing her fingers along the back of tae’s hand before squeezing it again. “ i guess … i’ve always imagined something like this too. just never thought it’d be so perfect. ” ashlyn’s smile d e e p e n e d, eyes reflecting the warmth of the moment. “ being here with you, experiencing all of this together… it’s exactly what i needed. ” she leaned into tae just a little more, finding comfort in the quiet bond between them. “ we’ve always had this magic, haven’t we? ” she whispered, almost as if speaking it into existence.

Taelyn’s breath hitched; just for a second. The way Ashlyn said “favorite part” hit somewhere deep, like a paintbrush dragging across canvas too tender to be touched. She blinked, caught off guard by the sudden wave of emotion, and then let herself soften into it. “I’m really glad,” she said, barely more than a whisper. She didn’t need to say me too. It pulsed in the air around them, humming through the gallery like an invisible thread tying them back to every night spent dreaming aloud under fairy lights and between the pages of journals stained with ink and longing. Taelyn leaned her cheek lightly against her best friend's head, a rare moment of quiet closeness she didn’t often initiate, but something about the moment asked her to be brave. “I used to come here and imagine what it’d be like if you were beside me,” she admitted, voice tinged with vulnerability but steady. “Now you are. And it’s even better than I imagined.” She glanced at the paintings again, her gaze drifting toward one that reminded her of a night they snuck out to watch the stars and ended up lying in a field, whispering secrets like they were sacred spells. She smiled softly. “You still make everything feel like magic.” And though her hand was free now, she let it brush gently against Ashlyn’s once more; just a flicker of connection to say I'm here, and I'm so damn glad you are too.

Kieran had a migraine for the last couple of days, last night he was so nausea and dizzy because of it, and today resulted in not eating anything and laying in a room in the dark. Even with the meds he was on, he still had days like these. These were the worst of them with his meds, without his meds it usually would've caused him to go to the E.R. He heard the door open and he squinted his eyes to find Taelyn walking in, he gave her a key for instances like this, and considering he heard his phone going off earlier and ignored it, he now inferenced that it had probably been Taelyn. "I'm fine," he said softly, knowing that this wasn't the first time that she had to deal with him like this. "Sorry I didn't answer you."

"I also think that you ask me to come over for dinner because you have something to talk about that you don't want to talk about with your dad around and you can't do that if you come over to the house," she added. "Go grab me that onion," she said, gesturing over to where it sat on the other end of the counter.

"Hey Taelyn!" Edie called through the store as she returned with a box full of inventory. "Can you come help? I'm definitely going to need help sorting these crystals. Maybe making sure some are looking okay. I ordered some from a different person, and I'm always worried they don't tumble them correctly."

"I don't really see what the problem is," Thalia said to her sister. "Why can't you just tell them to leave you alone? Have you tried that?"

"Sure, I can try and fix it," Tadhg said to his daughter with a smile. He reached out for the broken item as he slipped into the chair at his desk, "Hand it over and I'll have a look."

"Oh, did you want some of this?" Tahdg asked, looking down at the slice of cake he was eating and then back up at his daughter, "I'm happy to share but I can also get you your own slice, there's plenty left."

"Hey, you made it," Tadhg said, greeting his daughter with a grin and a hug, "You look great, perfectly on theme. Ready for a night of looting and crime?" he asked jokingly.

THERE WEREN'T ENOUGH WORDS TO DESCRIBE ASHLYN'S HAPPINESS. being in a new place, finding out maggie was alive... and- well everything that came with that. with all the concerns about this new town.... it was nice to be able to find joy in something that had always been an e s c a p e for her. squeezing taelyn's hand as they entered, ash let her eyes take in the room. sweeping over [everything] she could see before starting again at what was closest to her and really taking it in. she listened as tae spoke to her, but really allowed herself to get lost in the moment. at the question directed toward her, ash looked at taelyn again her entire being seemed to light up. "it's absolutely amazing." she confirmed. she squeezed her best friend's hand once more before letting it go to take it all in again. reach out, she grabbed tae's arm and moved to stand closer and rest her head on her shoulder... "this has been my favourite part of being here so far." she admited. it reminded her of their bond. their shared passion for this whole [art] world.

Taelyn’s face lit up as she felt Ashlyn’s arms wrap around her in a warm hug. There was something grounding about Ashlyn’s presence, even after all these years. She watched as her best friend bent to greet Harry, her energy as effervescent as ever, and couldn’t help but laugh softly. “I knew you’d love it already,” she said, her voice tinged with affection. Glancing back at the gallery entrance, she nodded toward it, sharing in Ashlyn’s excitement. “Come on, then. I can’t wait to show you everything inside.” She reached out, gently taking Ashlyn’s hand as they made their way toward the door, the anticipation buzzing between them like electricity. As they stepped inside, the vibrant colors and intricate textures of the gallery immediately enveloped them. Taelyn let her gaze wander, already spotting a few pieces she couldn’t wait to show off. She turned to Ashlyn, grinning. “Okay, so there’s this one artist I think you’re really going to love; her work is so moody and intense, it’s like it tells a whole story without needing a single word. It kind of reminds me of your writing, actually.” Taelyn led Ashlyn toward a collection of paintings, her own excitement barely contained. “What do you think? Am I overhyping it or is it as amazing as I think it is?” she asked, her voice carrying that mix of eagerness and vulnerability that only someone who truly cared about sharing something meaningful could have.

THIS WAS SOMETHING SHE WAS USED TO–- ashlyn spent so much time surrounded by people who loved art. in any way, shape, or form... it was art. and this moment right now. this was something she knew well. when taelyn invited her out. to show her a side of northknot that she could actually fall into rhythm with, she hadn't hesitated to agree. silent making her way through the busy street, ashlyn smiled brightly at everyone she passed. " i adore it already! " she bounced slightly on the balls of her feet. she hugged taelyn and even greeted harry by lowering herself slightly to pet. before standing up again, looking at the building in awe. " take me inside. " there was a child-like excitement to her voice. she was excited to be around so much art, but mainly just excited for tae.

The sun dipped low in the sky, casting a warm, golden hue over Northknot’s bustling streets. Taelyn wandered down Main Street, her paint-splattered hands tucked into the pockets of her oversized cardigan. The air was rich with the scent of fresh pastries from the nearby café, and the children's laughter echoed from the park where families gathered. She paused in front of the art gallery that was displaying local artists for the next few months, her heart racing with excitement. It was here, among the eclectic sculptures and vivid paintings, that she felt the world shimmer with possibility. As she turned to look for her best friend, Taelyn couldn’t help but smile.
