NORTHKNOT WAS NOT WAS SHE WAS EXPECTING... in fact, it kinda sucked if she was being honest. great timing to start coming out of your shell. she bitterly thinks to herself. she hasn't been around long, but already she's questioning if she should leave. i mean, she's a vampire, death doesn't surprise her, but this was a lot. trying to clear those thoughts from her mind, ash looked around. the street was pretty dead, so she was able to try to focus on the journal in front of her. she was working on her next book but for some reason, kept pausing. sighing, she glanced up again only to make eye contact with someone she hadn't thought of in so long. for a moment ash thought it was a figment of her imagination. blinking, she focused again and still saw maggie. a look of confusion came over her features before turning into a look of excitement. using her vamp speed, ash stood up and rushed across the street and gave a quick " magdalena! " before she rushed to hug her. anyone who knew her nowadays would know this was out of character for her. but she thought her sister was head. once she realised that she reacted before she even could process any of it, she quickly let go and stepped back. " i'm sorry. " she had no clue how mags would feel about her... after all this time.

THE OLDER VAMPIRE WOULD NOT PUSH FOR MORE INFORMATION. she'd never put someone in that position to even try. but she honestly didn't know what to make of what the blonde was telling her. natalie's words did NOT help her in the way one would assume they would. instead it made it worse. why wouldn't maggie be part of her son's life? her mind starting going a mile a minute. "that's–" weird? concerning? odd? "-interesting." she settled with. ash knew she'd find out a lot about maggie. they lived several lifetimes apart not knowing the other was around. heck, ash had her own secrets to share with maggie still. but hearing all this from a stranger was unsettling. and it just reminded her, that while maggie and her were related by blood.... they aren't actually family at this point. ash just hoped that would change. "i'm just going to go ahead and finish this and go–" she stated, her tone a little awkward. mainly cause she needed this to end and to process everything so when she next saw maggie they could speak properly.

It felt like she had stepped in it by mentioning something Ashlyn didn't know about her own sister. She just figured she had to have heard or something. "Well, that's not that surprising. It's Maggie's story to tell, but she only recently in the last few years came back into his life. It's a long story but that's probably part of the reason why. I'm sure there is just so much to catch up on," she explained, trying to make the other feel a bit better about things.

ASHLYN’S HEART SWELLED, WARMTH BLOOMING in her chest as she heard taelyn’s words. she shifted slightly, tilting her head up to meet tae’s gaze, a soft smile tugging at her lips. “ you’ve always known how to make everything feel… like it matters, you know? ” her voice was quiet but full of affection. she reached out, lightly tracing her fingers along the back of tae’s hand before squeezing it again. “ i guess … i’ve always imagined something like this too. just never thought it’d be so perfect. ” ashlyn’s smile d e e p e n e d, eyes reflecting the warmth of the moment. “ being here with you, experiencing all of this together… it’s exactly what i needed. ” she leaned into tae just a little more, finding comfort in the quiet bond between them. “ we’ve always had this magic, haven’t we? ” she whispered, almost as if speaking it into existence.

Taelyn’s breath hitched; just for a second. The way Ashlyn said “favorite part” hit somewhere deep, like a paintbrush dragging across canvas too tender to be touched. She blinked, caught off guard by the sudden wave of emotion, and then let herself soften into it. “I’m really glad,” she said, barely more than a whisper. She didn’t need to say me too. It pulsed in the air around them, humming through the gallery like an invisible thread tying them back to every night spent dreaming aloud under fairy lights and between the pages of journals stained with ink and longing. Taelyn leaned her cheek lightly against her best friend's head, a rare moment of quiet closeness she didn’t often initiate, but something about the moment asked her to be brave. “I used to come here and imagine what it’d be like if you were beside me,” she admitted, voice tinged with vulnerability but steady. “Now you are. And it’s even better than I imagined.” She glanced at the paintings again, her gaze drifting toward one that reminded her of a night they snuck out to watch the stars and ended up lying in a field, whispering secrets like they were sacred spells. She smiled softly. “You still make everything feel like magic.” And though her hand was free now, she let it brush gently against Ashlyn’s once more; just a flicker of connection to say I'm here, and I'm so damn glad you are too.

SHE'S ALIVE! SHE'S ALIVE AND SHE'S HERE! SHE'S ALIVE, HERE, AND JUST LIKE ME! her mind seemed like it was running a mile a minute and just in circles. it was a lot to process, but she was trying. part of her was excited. part of her was scared. ashlyn didn't really know what to do with this information about her sister. she wanted to get to know her all over again. wanted to know everything that happened. wanted her to know that she looked for her. but she also felt very lost. didn't know where to start.

which is why she felt so overwhelmed NOW. she was making her way to a studio she was told about. when she was overwhelmed like this, she wanted to not have to think at all. she was so focused on that, that she didn't realise that azlee was walking out of the store she was passing until it was too late. "stai scherzando." she mumbled in italian under her breath when they made eye contact. ash has spoken to az since being turned against her will... has even had moments where she's gone to her for help. but there was always that part that DIDN'T couldn't forgive the original vampire. "az... hi. i didn't realise–" she stopped trailed off. she knew that the original vampire and her family founded this town. had even know that az was here a lot. but she guessed part of her wished this would be a time that az WASN'T in town. smiling awkwardly at the elder vampire, ashlyn tried to clear her head to focus.

SHE NODDED IN UNDERSTANDING– “ yeah… i get that– no need to apologise. ” her words were softer now, a little b r e a t h l e s s, like the weight of the moment was still settling over her. “ i didn’t know she had family either. not until… well, recently. ” she shifted her stance, hands still loose at her sides, not wanting to crowd him—or make it seem like she was asking for anything she wasn’t. “ this wasn’t planned. running into you like this, i mean. i didn’t even know what you looked like. ” her lips pressed into a thin line, like she was d e b a t i n g how much to say, but in the end, the truth won out. “ someone mentioned your name. and hers. and it just… hit me harder than i thought it would, i guess. ”

there was a beat before she added, gentler now. “ i didn’t mean to make things awkward for you. or for her. ” she glanced at the little girl again, a flicker of something tender passing over her face. “ honestly… i’m still trying to figure out what any of this means. but i’m not here to put that on you. ”

"Sorry, I'm a bit protective of her," Alex said, rightfully so. He nearly died protecting her, and sometimes he thinks about what could've happened if someone hadn't stopped the witch attacking him. He wouldn't know how to live if he woke up from that and one of his kids had died. "My Mom is your sister? I didn't know she had any siblings." Granted up until a few years ago, he also didn't know she was still alive either.

ASHLYN GRINNED, HER HEART F E E L I N G LIGHTER at sybil's words. “ you know, i’ve missed this too. ” she admitted, her voice soft but warm. “ i forgot how easy it is to just… get lost in town with someone who gets it. ” she added, a playful spark in her eyes. she took another sip of her coffee and shrugged with a grin. “ and hey, if trouble finds us, we’ll just handle it like old times, right? ” she bumped sybil's shoulder back with a wink.

Sybil laughed brightly, nodding in enthusiastic approval. “Ah, yes—structured chaos. Exactly my style,” she quipped, eyes sparkling mischievously behind her funky glasses. Falling effortlessly into step beside Ashlyn, she let their shoulders bump gently as they started their leisurely wander. “You know, I missed having someone around who appreciates my world-class bribery skills,” she teased affectionately, taking another warming sip.

Her gaze drifted thoughtfully across the bustling streets, before she playfully nudged Ashlyn's elbow. “Besides, maybe we'll stumble onto something exciting. Ghostly bookshop, enchanted pastry shop; who knows? Trouble always seems to find us eventually, anyway.” Her voice softened, a playful smile lingering as nostalgia warmed her chest.
