Oh!!! I tried a new class at the gym tonight, and one of the ladies is someone who’s also in my dance class, but we’ve never talked. I was wearing an old roller derby tournament shirt and she sees it as we’re getting our mats set out and goes ‘is that roller derby?? I used to do the rec league here!’ !!!!!!!!
I really want to join the rec league but they practice outside, and it’s in the morning, but summer mornings are fucking hot already so I’m putting it off til the fall lol

Using Tai Chi Chuan to Build the Energy Body
Tai Chi Chuan isn't just for self defense purposes, once one gets past the need and want to protect oneself you get into building an 'energy body.' This is true for Yang Tai Chi Chuan, Chen Tai Chi Chuan, or whatever type of Taiji you happen to be enrolled in. You do have to follow specific guidelines relating to the energy anatomy. First, obviously, one must root our bodies. This is not only sinking the body weight; you have to close the eyes and direct your awareness through the feet and into the earth. This will enable you to develop a tractor beam that connects you to our planet. Second, you must shift our bodies back and forth while turning the hips. This results in a holistic motion which uses all of our bodies, rather than just an arm or even a leg. This must be finished with every motion you do within the form and the self defense techniques. Third, you should hold arms which can be curved but not capable to be bent throughout all postures. You can move the arms a little, forwards and backwards, inside and outside. This slight wave in the arms will pulse energy through the body. This form of pure energy motion should be based upon the tan tien, normally the one spot about two inches below the navel which can be the vitality generator for our bodies. Fourth, you need to pulse the whole body. Begin by pushing the legs, transfer the wave of energy with the waist, and then manifest with the arms.
