To this day it still bugs me, despite Seb giving them his blood, sweat, and tears in the four previous seasons, that Ferrari decided to toss him aside in 2019 the moment Charles had his first taste of success. Nothing against Charlie though, but everything against the notorious 2010s-Ferrari's management and politics. this has been in my inbox since oct 6 im so sorry i haven’t answered bc genuinely idk what to say? i don’t entirely agree with you, mostly bc the way i see it, ferrari needed to turn a new page to strive for something more stable so that they could go back to what they were born to do—win. when you’re in a high pressure, cutthroat environment where the stakes are sky high, collateral damage is like… natural.

obviously it’s unfortunate that seb was the one who got shafted—i’ll be the first to feel angsty over ferrari seb. and, you know, if things had panned out differently, i’m sure i’d be much more bitter. but as it stands? seb’s thriving in AM (despite. Circumstances this season) and generally doing what in essence was his ferrari dream, which was to follow michael/fix a team/have it built around him like family. sure, it’s not the red team, but he Did say he wanted to be the next vettel and not the next schumacher, no? there’s poetic cinema to be found.

also, ferrari has become much more stable and like, humbled? because they went through hell and came out of it intact with someone who is able in all aspects to take the team back to the top. seb couldn’t do that. he never even got the chance to—the team he was originally promised was gone before he got there. how could they have fully united behind him? so i’m not rlly with you wrt “dirty,” per se, about how it ended. to me (and ofc in hindsight), it was just the brutal conclusion of things, made worse by tactless and poor handling of the entire situation. unless that’s what you meant by “dirty”? (that’s not to discount seb’s achievements at all btw—we can’t ever forget that he’s third only to schumi and lauda. he’s a ferrari legend, always will be, but like fernando said the other week: the team just wasn’t ready.)

so i think charles is so so so important to ferrari’s future, and when they finally, inevitably give him the car he deserves, he’ll be winning championships. but seb will forever be loved up there with the greats, and in a few years’ time, the wound will heal, as all things do :)

It's been 3 weeks and we're all craving for some Sebchal crumbs. At this point it's almost like the winter break drought, so i decided to make a whole loaf of bread out of random blurry photos. A lovely Tumblr source said this event went way back to Korean GP 2013. Pls, is that Charles sitting across the table from Seb or is it just me being Sebchal(ly) delusional?

Omg as incredible as that would be, I'm pretty sure that's Esteban Gutierrez! He was a Sauber driver for two seasons and a Haas driver in 2016, as well as Ferrari's test and reserve driver for some time. They actually did some PR stuff together, like this video ahead of the inaugural modern era Mexican Grand Prix. I think he's currently linked to Mercedes - as a "brand and business ambassador", according to Wikipedia. He was speculated to be one of the possible replacements for the Merc drivers in case of Covid or whatever but his super licence expired which made him ineligible to step in and race.

Good catch though, that's a valid question! Also fuck I'd love it if our current grid got together and was photographed out having a group meal like this. Then we'd go nuts with our magnifying glasses trying to study the seating plan and what it might mean sdefjr

Yes! I woke up to an anon and a message from the ever-helpful tak01x3 about it, so I'm not sure who found it first. Someone on Twitter posted the screenshots, anyway. An anon kindly sent me the link to a Youtube video of Carlos's interview, and then I quickly found a slightly better version of it on the Spanish network's official YT channel.

And you're very welcome 🥰 I will absolutely gif any and all crumbs - and, seriously, we've had micro CCTV-style footage from Monaco with no better angles surfacing except for photos, ffs - as long as I can find them.
