I'm out of energy to draw something, so here's a slightly old drawing of Chirin's bell final scene where he fights the dogs across the fence.
NOTE:
At that time my drawings were made with linework while my current drawings are fully rendered, so don't mind the difference. I really appreciate the atmosphere of this one, I believe it still holds it's value. Working on it was really fun, especially the background, I remember how much this drawing contributed to me finding my current style so I have such good feelings about this piece.
If I had a nickel for everytime I became unhealthily hyperfixatated on a extremely influential Japanese children's writer and anime producer, relatively unknown outside Japan except for that one work (featuring a mascot popular enough to called the "Japanese Mickey Mouse"), but incredibly prolific and beloved in their own country. Who seemed to have nothing but cute characters with wholesome plots, but in reality their works were dark and mature due to war trauma. Well I'd only have two nickels but it's weird it happened twice.
Well yes, anpanman fans. Today is 10.3, the day we all wait for every year. 35 years ago, our beloved anime "Soreike! Anpanman" was broadcast for the first time on TV.
And let me remind you of something else.
October 1973: Takashi Yanase creates Anpanman.
This means that this year is also the 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE CREATION OF ANPANMAN ITSELF (WTF)
As a tribute, I created a mashup of all the versions of the series' theme song.
Thank you, Yanase san, for creating a character that has brought a smile to our faces for 50 years. I really hope that Anpanman can teach others that it is useless to try to end it, just like he taught me ❤️.
When we are young, we don't know a lot of things. But the small amount of knowledge we do possess makes us happy. Knowing our home, our friends, how to get places, and maybe how to get back. The world is a strange new place; a great puzzle. Sights, sounds, and smells are it's pieces. We see things we know nothing about; things that surprise us, and sometimes sadden us. But as we explore and grow, the time comes when we learn; we learn about the world and we grow older.
It's #FanArtFriday again, folks, and here comes Anpanman, who turned fifty this year, and he's celebrating the life and legacy of his creator, Takashi Yanase, who passed away on this day.
