I keep meaning to post about this cause the situation is crazy but it's only gotten crazier.

So, in Kentucky, there are LOTS of little counties. Actually, their the 4th State in the list of Most Counties. There's one county, Jefferson, that has around 770,000 people. This is over double the next largest county in the state. This is a big deal because schools are managed by the Board of Education of each county. Most counties have multiple schools based on population.

I promise this is important to the point-

Jefferson County has 120 public schools (and about 50 private/religious institutions). Now, there is a Board, with seven individuals elected every four years, so changes go through votes and meetings. However... Recently, people have been left behind in the system. You see, Jefferson has a 60% population of minorities enrolled in the schools there. Last year, the Superintendent (the leader of the Board) gave himself (thru a surprise vote) a 27% raise. This was a shock to most educators and principals, especially when the next month had a disaster.

The raise was in July. August hit and the new year was starting. Our system is bus heavy - Kentucky is large and parents are busy. Getting to school was fine, but something happened at the end of the day.

The transportation department of the whole school system had been failing for years because, simply put, bus drivers get paid shit. A CDL license can pay big money but school drivers have significant wage cuts compared to the rest. They couldn't get anyone to take up the job. And it wasn't a huge shortage at first. 553 drivers, 569 routes. This was the total when they decided to say fuck it. They hired AlphaRoute, a company that uses AI to make routes for school busses. It made things infinitely worse.

The first day of school, the last child to get off the last bus got home at 10 PM.

Children were being dropped at transportation depots to be picked up by different busses. A lot of the time, they were unsupervised. Most of them were shepherded to the wrong bus. A large number of these children were elementary to middle school age, with some as young as kindergarten.

Now, as you can imagine, the police were being called a lot. Parents were rightfully terrified about children who should've been home. There is outrage the likes of which I have never seen.

So. The school cancels the first week and tries again, this time with routes that are designed by humans. They invest in a firm to figure out why the plan failed (what a waste of money) and find out everything they planned for this year of school was a catastrophic failure on every level.

So now, recently, the Superintendent proposed that we just... Get rid of buses. They would get rid of busses for 28 schools, or 15,000 children.

The Mayor of Louisville hated this plan SO MUCH that he suggested slashing the TARC bus program on favor of continuing full transportation. TARC is vital for the homeless and poor neighborhoods in the area (as someone who lived there at one point). Public transportation is extremely sparse, especially on the west end where we need it most.

From every angle, this is so bad and fucked. Also, it's the worst anyone has ever done it. Great job JCPS Board, you fucking cockroaches.

I know people joke about the water cup thing. But I've only done it once to the same place repeatedly when I had to take the tarc bus (public bus that ran through), I got sprite just in case they looked in, cause their water tended to bubble up sometimes, and I think I was being sneaky but knowing my teenage ass I wasn't being that sneaky probably.

Never had anyone say or do anything about it. I guess they understood it was a long ride for me and my friend and we looked disheveled enough for them to take pity on us XD

if youre old enough to vote you definitely should, call a taxi or an uber or take a tarc bus, figure out some way to go vote

it might be hard for you to do that for 2 different days but its much better figuring that out than suffering for 4 more years

Personal Life: This is an image of a tarc bus. These buses provide public transportation in cities. Public transportation is a great way to portray sustainability. Everyone that uses their car is polluting the air and making the air unhealthy. To avoid that... we must use the transportation that is available such as a tarc bus. If you own a car and work with multiple people, next time ask them to carpool instead of all using a car to drive to work. The little steps taken each day will improve the air quality.

You're in a US military camp but you're not a soldier like many others in your community. You have been sent here in downtown Louisville due to the corona virus wiping out 1/3 of the human race. You're 14 Mom went to the store to get groceries, 1 hour later your cell phone beeps Weather Alert: THIS IS NOT A WEATHER ALERT YOU MUST EVACUATE GO TO YOUR NEAREST HIGHWAY FOR A PICKUP. You doubt this message at first so you click on the tv and all channels say the same alert on repeat, so you grab your little brother and have him pack his tablet. You and him walk down the road to the highway, thank god the highway ramp is down the street from your house. You and your brother get on a military transport truck with many of your neighbors. Your brother thinks the military stuff is cool and he's happy. You're glad he's not missing mom yet.

You got seperated from her and it's been one week. You open up your twitter. Then you mutter "Thank god the internet is still alive". You pull up mom's twitter "UGH she still hasn't replied to my dm, I hope she's not d-dead." Life under the military camp is not so bad, the food sucks but at least there's a ymca downtown. You walk up to a soldier and ask: "Have you found my mom yet?" he replied: No sorry but orders are to stay in this camp until the all clear signal, your mom or any other can come into the camp as long as they're scanned for the illness." This is it you've had it with this stupid military and not finding your mom, your gonna escape tonight, go to your house, feed the dogs because they haven't been fed for a week, and your gonna find mom.

At 8:00 pm it's lights out but you make sure your brother and your best friend Jack are awake. You've been planning since you first walked in. You've been mooching with the guards and showing them how to make their rations slightly better. You, your brother, and Jack slip into the corner of the encampment and walk right past the guard. He says: "good luck"

You and the gang start looking for the tarc garage in down town Louisville. After looking for a few hours you find an abandoned one still at the bus stop with a 3/4 tank of diesel. "Nice" you all say at the same time. You try to crank it over but it wont start. "Aw damn the batteries are dead." You say. "Don't worry. Just find a auto store and rob a battery charger." says Jack "Nice idea" you say. "Alright guard the bus guys." You set of to find an auto store it's easy because google maps tell you exactly where a Jim's Auto store is.

(40 minutes later) You start up the engine.

Diva on a plane

I hate flying on planes so much. Going through TSA gives me so much anxiety. I always feel like they’re going to have to pat me down for some reason, which really bothers me. I also how small most airplanes are. I have friends who have never flown before and a lot of them think it’s kind of glamorous, but it’s really like a tarc bus in the sky. When I say Tarc Bus, it’s no shade to people who use public transportation, it’s more shade to KY’s shitty public transportation system. Anyways, the planes are way too small. I’m 6’4 and have very long legs so I have to sit cramped for hours which is so hard for me. I end up fidgeting and sometimes hitting the person’s seat in front of me which I feel bad about, but I really can’t help it. One time when I was younger I was flying with my aunt (I’ve always been very tall) my knees where hitting the person’s seat in front of me and they got mad at me but my aunt yelled “he’s very tall” and the people left me alone. The seats are uncomfortable. I also worry about being all these people from everywhere and getting the flu or something. Call me a diva, please. I am not ashamed. Was editing Tumblr posts I wrote in my notes and the last sentenced about being a diva reminded me of something... I don't consider being called a princess or diva a bad thing lol
